Miller & Carter Banbury in Cherwell

Greta value lunch menu here and our server Daria couldn’t have done more for us. Will be back again for sure. I had cheesy mushrooms, steak sandwich and coffee and creme brûlée which was less than £20. And I downloaded the app and got a free glass of fizz. Brilliant value and delicious.

My wife & I where greeted with a very warm welcome & taking to our table. Olivia then the waitress looked after us then & was very professional. We both had starters & mains ( both had lovely cooked steaks). My wife then decided on a dessert loved every bit of it. Lovely atmosphere & excellent service.

We love a good steak so there’s only 1 place to go miller & carter , got there before 7pm was seen straight away . And shown to our window table as requested , was then offered the drinks so we ordered straight away and quick service . Nice and pleasant waitress . The food all come out straight away correct and hot , as did the mains , was asked several times that everything was ok . Brilliant service from all the staff , working hard as normal . Made our evening pleasant .. Thank u Eleanor the waitress .🥩 we will return

Natasha was brilliant, very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable when I asked questions on the menu. As it was Thursday and the 3 course menu is on on Thursdays I ordered from that. The food was superb and I basically inhaled it. I had the calamari with lemon aioli to start, followed by the dirty burger and the apple pie to finish. Everything was so tasty and well cooked. Absolutely can't fault the night. Would definitely go again if I'm in the area.

Went to Miller and Carter for my birthday with family. We had a brilliant table with room for a pram as we had a young baby with us. The steaks were predictably amazing and one of our party had the ribs for the first time, which were fantastic. We all shared the 3 for £10 sides too, which was such good value. Natasha was incredibly attentive and, because it was my birthday, she brought out a gorgeous ice cream dessert and birthday card which topped off the night brilliantly. We've been coming to this branch for a few years and will continue to in the future!

Really nice restaurant clean and tidy. The service was pretty fast and staff were really friendly. The food was also amazing, we had the burgers and they were huge. Would definitely go back :)

We visit the Banbury site as much as we can and have never really had a bad thing to say, the food is always tip top and the service is usually 9/10 , BUT we visited last night 26/03/24 at 8pm and our waitress was Esme and was my Mrs 30th birthday, and I would just like to say that.... The experience was .... Well.... AMAZING =) Esme really helped towards the good atmosphere of the evening, really engaging, and a good laugh , and her service was also 10/10 ,i was a GM for Greene king for 15 years and her work ethic is superb give her a pay rise! The food was also out of this world, I decided to change from my usual to have the dirty burger and I've not stopped going on about it yet! It was so good easily best burger I've tasted so compliments to the chef, but all round the starters and mains was 10/10, the entire night as a whole 12/10 , so thank you M&C and Esme for making my Mrs 30th that bit extra special!

Excellent! - Visited unexpectedly, the staff were fantastic, friendly, welcoming and very professional. The food was amazing too, perfect portion sizes, and very fresh and top quality. Atmosphere was good, and was clean. - Would definitely recommend and hopefully visit again.

Very nice Mother's Day meal. Good selection of steaks of various sizes... Something for every appetite. Great service too, even though the restaurant was very busy.

We enjoyed our visit. Food was good and service excellent. However there was a mother and child alone on a table close by and constantly playing games and making unpleasant noises which spoilt the experience not just for us but all tables around. People spend a lot of money hoping to have a nice experience only to be frustrated and spoilt. I know it’s a difficult situation to deal with but for the sake of 2 diners 20 were spoilt.

My recent visit to Miller and Carter in Banbury was a complete disappointment. Despite placing my order for collection at 18:50, I didn’t receive my food until 20:25, all because they mistakenly gave my order to someone else. The wait was excruciatingly long, and the staff seemed oblivious to the inconvenience caused. When I finally received my food, it was cold and clearly had been sitting out for far too long. The lack of attention to detail and disregard for customer satisfaction is unacceptable. I won’t be returning anytime soon.

The food was really dry. I had the burger from their lunch menu and the both the brioche bun and the burger pattie itself were extremely dry. The fries as well were dry/ stale. The Chipotle Chicken starter, however, was nice.

Food was delicious and the service exceptional. We were served by Eleanor. Very polite and knowledgeable. Couldn’t fault her of the food. Highly recommend.

Excellent 16oz Ribeye steak cooked medium rare. I was told it was cooked by head chef Anthony. It was perfect today and also perfect two days ago when I ordered the same cut. This is the first time I had a steak cooked perfectly well on two occasions and well seasoned at Miller and Carter. Went there again last week and this time had a great ribeye cooked by Tim. Had dinner yesterday and had a dry steak although cooked perfectly medium rare. It was because the meat was probably too cold when put in the grill or a poor quality meat. The replacement was superb! Visited again today and the meat was dry. May have been put on the grill before allowing it to room temperature again. Unfortunately the replacement meat was the same.

Fantastic service and superb food.

Natasha our server was lovely very polite, friendly & informative. Our Steaks were cooked perfectly the Garlic Mushrooms were delicious we even had a dessert.

The staff were so lovely. Food came out nice and timely and it was really good! We had a lovely time!

We visit Banbury regularly, however, this is the 1st visit this year and the standards have definitely dropped. Portions are smaller starters & mains. The chips were hard, onion bread was chewy & gravy very salty. Won't be going back in a hurry, far better places.

Staff were lovely and nice decor and atmosphere but the steaks that we had were of average quality considering that they were 50 day aged (I cook supermarket bought steaks that taste better) and we found it extremely expensive for what you get.

The meal was absolutely fabulous, the staff there are incredible also, our waitress Natasha was amazing, even under the Valentine’s Day pressure she did amazing.

Good things: - Staff were accommodating and friendly. Negative things: - Took 20 minutes before anyone took our food order. - Took 1 hour before we got our starters. - Quality of food did not match the pricing points; too high. - Food lacked flavour. - Service was slow. Expected a better experience for the brand name, but could have gone to the harvester and it would have been better, and for a fraction of the price. Disappointing.

Got my meal wrong, didn't take too long to correct that and when it arrived it was lovely. The waitress did her best to apologise and appreciate mistakes do happen but when you're paying a premium price, you expect a premium service. Seemed to me like they were under staffed and the staff that were there were not trained sufficiently well. Some colleagues visited the night before but had a much worse experience than me, significant delay and an under cooked burger. On the night I was there, someone else was refusing to pay due to poor service. Feels like this branch needs some improvement

Ordered a takeaway away meal this weekend, I can't fault the meal it was exactly as described and very enjoyable.. I was a little disappointed with having to wait 30 mins after arriving on time for a scheduled collection appointment

We were served by Natasha who was absolutely amazing! Extremely friendly and nothing was to much effort. She made us feel very welcome and relaxed! The food and drinks we ordered was beautiful!

Lovely staff, but do take a little while to serve you once ordered drinks or food. Lovely food but not much choice if you don't like beef. However, chef did agree to do a half roast chicken with a red wine sauce and peas instead of salad.

The service was ridiculously slow, it felt like our waitress was the only one working, it took 30 minutes to get our drinks, I’ve been to multiple miller & carters around the country this is the worst experience we’ve ever had, poor quality food, poor service I won’t be visiting again and suggest anyone else doesn’t bother either.

Great meal and excellent service from Lucy. My only comments are that it is a bit expensive and the place is a bit dark in the evening - had to use the torch on our phone to see the menu!

My husband and I had a delicious meal at Banbury Miller and Carter. Our young waitress Lucy couldn't have been any more attentive, helping to make the evening even more enjoyable.

We've just been refused to dine as there was "short staff", but, actually the real reason was racism.

As with every Miller & Carter I've visited, Banbury's branch was equally of a high standard in both the quality of food and customer service. I would like to give a particular shout-out to Daria who provided exceptional customer service to me, and paid great attention to detail regarding my food allergies.

Table location was a bit naff. I was half sat in the main throughway between tables. The food was really good and the staff were really friendly.

Table booked for 6:30 Slow to take drinks order-then drinks that came were incorrect. Was called madam -a lot by waitress. Ordered nachos to start -not the quality that were used to in miller and Carter they were like salted tortilla crisps-not the lovely ones that the kidlington restaurant do. Did they run out? I wouldn't have ordered if I’d known. I Ordered well done steak as currently pregnant and can’t eat pink meat-I explained this - I checked the steak and one end was welldone the other medium. I didn’t realise until I’d got the that half of the steak. I explained when the waitress came over and I was offered another, but I declined as my friends had finished their meals. I Ordered new potato's with my meal- they tasted like tinned potatoes that were hard and over cooked-tasted like they were cooked in the microwave-almost hard but rubbery. We ordered more drinks they were taken to another table-behind us-we informed the waitress she wasn’t bothered gave us one drink Then she came back with our water. Our plates were cleared and I was offered a free desert, we ordered deserts and I had the lemon cheesecake -again disappointing I appreciate the food isn’t fresh and needs to be frozen but care should be taken to make sure the plate isn’t full of water from the cheesecake. 3 hours later we asked for the bill-paid and left. Also the disabled toiled was dirty, smelly and the sink was very unsanitary. If this was my first visit to Miller and Carter I would never return.

It was very cold i did not feel comfortable there the presentation of the food was poor who sends out Burnt ouion loaf and the coleslaw looked like it was left over not fresh at all.very disappointed one meal was without chips so the other person had to wait.not happy at all.

We went to miller and carter in Banbury for. Family Xmas/birthday party on the 28th. Fabulous service from start to finish and even helped us with a birthday cake. There was some confusion with the bill as some family members wanted to leave a cash tip and others on card, so when completed the bill was mixed up due to an add on of gratuities, although we had left more then the value

Our server was brilliant, calm and handled lots of challenging orders. 3 of our party of 13 had food allergies, and she carefully checked our meal requests. 2 of our guests have autism and can be difficult but our server Rachel dealt with us all very nicely. Food was great too.

Easy to book and regular communication leading up to our booking. Despite a literally last minute change of time from yourselves it didn't deter me for recommending to my friends and family as the staff were great, food was excellent and we had a thoroughly good evening.

Natasha was lovely, full of excitement. She made the evening very wholesome, nice way to end off my birthday! The food was unbelievable, and there was a lovely gesture for my birthday with the desert! Would fully recommend the restaurant to friends.

We had a booking at 2pm on Boxing Day, we were seated straight away despite arriving 10 minutes early which was great. Quick at taking drinks orders, ordered our food quickly around 14:00, our starters didn’t arrive until 14:45, we did have the chase to ask where they were, followed by our mains not arriving until 15:35, when we asked where our mains were they brought out the lettuce wedges and then 20 minutes later brought out all the main food, desserts were again quite slow took another 20 minutes after our mains had cleared. More disappointingly we had seen the Eton mess come out as were sat by the kitchen until it was ours and the table near us turn and the meringues were no longer swirled pink ones instead ours looked like shop brought meringues as they must have ran out. Overall the Food was delicious but service really brought down the whole mood as we were sat hungry waiting. They had lots of staff out the front but clearly not enough in the kitchen for Boxing Day, quite disappointed and won’t be attending here again for a Christmas event.

Very poor service not enough front of house staff

Myself and my Wife enjoyed a rare date day with our 9 week old in tow and couldn’t have had a more lovely time. Our waitress Natasha was thoughtful and attentive, particularly when my Wife was breastfeeding, and our entire meal was relaxed and enjoyable as a result. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas :)

On arrival, despite having a booking confirmation number sent by email, we were told that we didn't have a booking. They managed to find us a table for 4 although there were 5 of us, so it was a bit of a squeeze. The decor appeared faded and the large light hanging over the table was so low that we had to peer around it to see those on the opposite side of the table. Good menu with plenty of choice and a very pleasant waitress. The bottle of wine was placed on the table without being opened. For the prices charged (and in all the other M+C restaurants that we have visited) the bottle of wine really should be opened and a taster amount served. We also ordered a bottle of fizz but had to wait 10 minutes for the glasses to arrive. When the food eventually arrived the steaks were only luke-warm but were tasty and cooked correctly, although the chateaubriand was rather tough. At least the chips and fries were hot! This was definitely not up to the usual M+C standards and we would certainly not go back. Very pricey for a mediocre experience.

a large table of 10 including 2 vegetarians all had an absolutely superb meal, service and quality were second to none and atmosphere was fantastic. Really looked after, could not fault service, staff or quality of food, all of us loved every minute of the meal. Given how busy the restaurant was the quality and level of service was a real testament to a great team! thank you!

Waitress service was good but think our mains got forgotten as they came over an hour after our starter. Had the Spinach and Camembert Wellington. Could barely see/taste any cheese which was a shame because it sounded delicious.

Went to lunch with a friend and her daughter, the establishment was very kid friendly as were the staff. The food was great, the atmosphere was good. The service was amazing, our food was brought out in good time, there was always someone to check if we needed anything. Would recommend, with special thanks to our server Daria.

I took my mum..(92)..in her electric wheelchair..for a little treat dinner...my son was the third member of our trio....what we found at this awful establishment..was not a pleasant experience...we ordered three Meals...basic dishes..and waited around 30 mins...watching staff members take their breaks in the dining area..no problem with that..except when you're waiting for service..and the Cook is sprawled across the seats...after a while longer..my mums meal appeared...followed by mine...we ate them ..and agreed that they weren't worth the wait..my son..however..was still waiting..having finished our meals..he was going to dine alone..after a while longer..a waitress delivered a plate to our table...Not the dish he'd ordered...the waitress..a Polish girl..was not fazed by this...and considering we had been there around an hour already....my son decided he'd leave it..not wishing to create any trouble for the girl who took the order...the manageress..sauntered over ..to ask ,why he didn't want the meal...It was explained..again ..that it was the wrong dish...She blithely gave a brief apology...no offer of cutting the bill to reflect the error....We left after around 90 minutes 😳...totally fed up with the lack of interest from the staff...who seemed to have no sense of time or order...all in all a terrible establishment...

Fixed festive menu. I chose this menu at £29.95 for two courses. The meal was so disappointing I didn’t eat it. The turkey was cold as we're the sprouts. The roasted parsnips were stringy and the gravy tasteless. All in all a bad choice but I suppose most customers come for a steak. To be fair the manager dispensed with the bill. However, not the restaurant for a festive meal. I am reliably informed that the steaks are brilliant but pricey.

Lovely interior and friendly efficient lunch service. We had nachos and scallops, both were really tasty. We will be back! Update, we returned and enjoyed a lovely sea bass, pea puree and Mediterranean vegetables dish. Server's were efficient and friendly, cocktails were excellent.

Pricey but good food and quick service

We were greeted with lovely and kind service and big smiles. we were seated quickly and given time to look over the menu. Natasha, our waitress, was brilliant all night and looked after us so well. nothing but kindness and smiles and was very helpful. some of the best customer service i have ever received in a restaurant and would definitely come back next time we’re down. 10/10 food and service. Natasha deserves a mention! brilliant night :)

Shockingly slow service. Tables were not being cleared, orders were slow to be taken. We didn't have the strength to wait for our order to be taken for a sweet!

Absolutely shocking - avoid at all costs! We stopped for lunch as it was a convenient place to charge the car nearby. We waited 30 minutes for our order to be taken. Although the restaurant was busy, there was simply no organisation of the staff. Tables were left uncleared and once we had eaten our main course we abandoned all hope of being able to order a sweet. Despite being charged for a two course meal, it was worth it to escape! We were over an hour for lunch that should have been served and eaten in 40 minutes max. Never again!!

Been here a few times and love it. Dependable! Great food and great times.
