Standard Fish and Chips shop, they were busy at the time so food wasn't out super quick, but the quality was as expected. Fish was very good, portion size was large. Chips could have been cooked a bit longer as they were slightly mushy.

Bit of a wait and a bit on the pricey side, but when it came the food was excellent.

So far definitely the best fish and chips. Even compare with posh restaurants. P.S. When I ask can I have big fish they understand what I mean.

Fresh fish and really large portion of fish and chips... Very tasty. The ambience was more like a chip shop but we didn't want to move in there but instead wanted to eat delicious food. We were able to do that 👍

Mike's is a great fish and chip shop. you won't be disappointed with the quality of food and service you get from these guys. They could teach Paul's Plaice in Bishops Waltham and some other chip shops a thing or two that's for sure.

Personally my favorite chippy in the local area. Always good flavor and texture with a good portion size. A strong 4.8 out of 5

My father wanted to show his grandson what fish and chips are supposed to be. Mike’s Fish and Chips did not disappoint. The cod was delicious, flaky and enormous. And the potatoes were fluffy and perfect - great chips! The owner is kind, friendly, and welcoming. It was an excellent meal and we all wholeheartedly recommend a visit!

Super Fisch and ships. Zum Ambiente, Naja Imbis eben, schlicht und einfan, man kann drinnen essen oder mitnehmen. 2 mal Fisch and Ships plus 2 Cola für 23 Pfund fand ich für die Menge absolut ok.

Checked previous reviews for Mike's before going for a short stay in Southampton. The fish and chips were delicious with lovely fluffy potato inside and the fish was stunning. Great to sit in to eat them too. Cooked fresh to order. Would definitely recommend a visit, great value for money and big portions. Fab!!

Ate at Mikes last night, we are in Southampton from Florida and was worth the research before we left Florida to find best Fish and Chips, and walk from the hotel after a long day after flying overnight. Food and service fantastic!

Solid fish and Chips and nice guy. I personally prefer the one from Duke of Wellington but I guess it’s just a preference on how you like the crust.

Mike, the owner, is a great friendly guy. This team is always friendly. In my experience Some of the sausages, especially those that are not eaten on the day, are re-fried the following day personal choice, not for me, but if you ask, I'm sure he would happily cook fresh Other than that, great food cooked in fresh oil honest prices unless ordering online, where the like of Uber and just eat rip you off. Parking is pay and display, but most are not there long enough to worry about that. Wheel chair accessible and can also eat in as well as take out.

Exactly what I wanted with fast service. All freshly cooked too. The warnings in previous reviews about portion sizes are true- they are gigantic, but this does not affect quality. Highly recommended traditional fish & chips.

I don't usually ever write reviews but this place was too good for me not to. Visited today with my friends and ordered the haddock with chips - I have to say the pricing was quite standard and affordable considering the huge portion sizes so you definitely get your money's worth. Fish was delicious and tender and the chips were fresh and authentic chip shop style ones. I'm not sure if it was the owner who was in the back or not but both him and the man who served me were so kind - kept asking if I needed anything and made sure I was satisfied with the food, in which I was. Will definitely be coming here again.

Batter has deteriorated dramatically in October ! It’s gone from the best in Hampshire to the absolute worst. Heavy batter on fish that is not edible. Chips are uncooked-totally horrible. They must have changed whoever is on the fryer in October 2022

Huge greeting at the counter on arrival and cheerful throughout. Skilfully fried fish, crispy light batter, crunchy to the bite. Fish was white, juicy and delicate, Chips were plentiful and delicious. Have some seating which looked comfortable and available. What an excellent example of service...

Wonderful to be back to sit-in service after the lock-down. How we've missed the succulent Plaice, Haddock etc, all perfectly cooked fresh every time. With this quality the queues should be round the block ! Shush! Don't tell anyone !........ Until we found Mike's a few years ago, we had despaired of finding a reasonably priced, consistent quality eatery along the south coast. Friendly service too.

Having grown up in Newquay, l am a bit picky about fish and chips, so l did my research first. Clearly, l wasn't thorough enough. I don't know if they were just having a bad day, but the chips were pale and rather limp, and the fish which was very small, about average for taste.

I came to this place for a quick lunch after having seen the good reviews in Tripadvisor. The food was nice, but it wasn't as special as I could read in other reviews. They serve good quality fish, but the batter was quite thick in my opinion. Also the place smells to frying oil a lot and it sticks to your clothes. I would recommend having it for take away.

I had greater expectations. The food was average and the restaurant is need of an upgrade. Not happy with businesses that only accept cash it is a clear indicator that they are not paying their taxes

Have been wanting to try Mike’s fish and chips, since seeing their reputation in the press. It was worth waiting for! Great friendly service, with a smile, fish cooked fresh, couldn’t be more helpful and welcoming. The batter was delightful, crisp and light, the chips, what I would call perfect. Absolutely great! I Loved that the salt and vinegar was shaken through the bag.

After a 10 hour journey nothing better than some much needed fish and chips. We sat in service and food was good . We found this chippy by chance when we missed the ferry it is our go to place now.

Came here on my way home. What can I say... a BIG mistake. Wanted a fresh portion of fish and crispy chips - got few days old soggy chips and rock hard fish that had a funky taste. After eating only a quarter of a portion had a bad feeling in a stomach which lasted for a few hours. Seriously, please think twice eating there. It's a shame staff seemed to be friendly.

You can't go wrong here for the food is perfectly cooked and the service is nice and friendly. Not a fan of fried chocolate bars but the pea fritters are yummy. You don't have to spend a lot for a good meal.
