Micklehead Green in St. Helens

The place seemed a little tired and the food was pretty average. I got the ribs and steak combo and the ribs were really dry like they’d been overcooked. Also got some calamari which had been over fried so the batter on them was burnt. They did refund one of the meals when we told them which was a kind gesture and that was appreciated. But won’t likely be visiting again soon.

21 of us celebrating our mum and dads 60th anniversary. We preordered our food and had a fabulous time. This could not of happened without Rachel, what a star. All food served hot with no one waiting and Rachel waiting our tables by herself. What a huge asset Rachel is in this establishment. Rachel is so professional, friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommend for any celebrations. Thankyou Rachel for making our afternoon so special from balloons to service pure excellence

Rachel was excellent is supporting our family celebration, it was my parents wedding anniversary and the environment was excellent for them.

Micklehead Green Beefeater is often our first choice for a birthday meal and it never disappoints. This evening, we were looked after by Ellie, who apparently was new (we would never have known if she hadn't told us). She looked after us extremely well, taking our order correctly and checking on us a few times to ensure that we had everything we needed. The meal itself was excellent; two steaks cooked to perfection, lasagne and a burger. Ellie asked whether we wanted desserts afterwards but we were full by the end of the meal so we declined. We had a couple of Beefeater rewards vouchers which brought the bill down considerably - always a bonus but even so the service and food was worth every penny.

Visited for Sunday lunch with my family and had a lovely time. We were greeted with a smile and took to our table straight away. The menu had lots of choice and the children’s portions were big and delicious. Liam was really helpful and made us feel welcome. We will definitely return

We were very well looked after. Our server Declan was very attentive. He couldn’t do enough to make sure we were happy. The baby has allergies and was very well catered for. The meal was lovely. Really enjoyed it! Had a lovely pint and the wine was really good too.

St Helens Soroptimists have met here several times and Monday night proved to be as good as usual. Rachel Glasgow looked after us as she normally does and was extremely helpful. She even took some photos of us all. She works very hard to keep everyone satisfied with both the food and service and we will be returning again. .

Rachel looked after us from the moment we arrived. She went over & above to ensure we had everything we wanted. Truly exceptional.

Have lunch here with friends every week, sometimes more than once, and look forward to it. Always a warm welcome, great service - nothing is ever too much trouble - and good food. Friendly staff always willing to go the extra mile.

Seems to be problems with booking times from the premier inn next door. Loads of guests are being booked in at the same time, 9.30am in my instant today and overwhelming the restaurant and staff. Should try keep the locals and premier inn guests apart for breakfast service if possible and stagger and limit guests per particular time slot. Food was average, staff struggling to replenish, fix appliances, take hot food to tables etc. On positive side though, Johnny working Sunday breakfast shift was sound, polite and friendly. My 8 year old girl took a shine to him lol. “Thanks Johnny” she shouted and “is our breakfast ready yet Johnny”!

35 minutes left without a order being taken. Was told not to go by others as the place has gone down hill. The food was slow coming out even though the place was empty

Came the micklehead with the grandkids it’s usually a weekly thing as they love it here we were served by Rachel she is so good the kids and the food is always lovely and Rachel always goes above and beyond

Had a 60th birthday in the events room and it was excellent. Rachel was amazing, extremely helpfull and everything we needed she sorted for us without hesitation. This all made the event extra soecial. The buffet food we selected was lovely and went down a treat and also had some gluten free requirements which was not a problem for them to accomodate. Booked a breakfast for 20 people for a business meeting. This was held in the meeting room and was accommodated amazingly! They fetched the food out and had it in a buffet style so we could help ourselves which worked as there was so many of us. The staff was very attentive and ensures there was enough of everything. I honestly couldn't recommend enough and I will be sure that we book future events here. Visited as a party of 8. The food was ok, nothing spectacular but not terrible. However the wait for service, drinks, food and cutlery was unacceptable. The place wasn’t particularly busy and there appeared to be plenty staff but something just isn’t working because it should not take over 3 hours to serve.
