We had a fantastic Sunday dinner at Michelle’s. The atmosphere was lovely and Sunday roast was amazing. Very generous portions too! Cilla and her staff were great. Very hospitable and attentive. The desert choices were excellent. 3 of us had biscoff cheese cake with ice cream and my son had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. All home made, good portions and tasted sublime! Diet starts after the holiday! 😜 If you want a nice place to eat in Polperro with good food, service and atmosphere you can’t beat it! Probably worth booking in advance if possible as it is popular.

When in polperro we make a point of visiting this family run restaurant. The food was excellent, very tasty. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Dogs are made welcome which is a big bonus as we take our golden retriever Ellie with us. Advisable to book in advance as this is a very popular restaurant.

We visited Michelle’s on Sunday last week for a roast All I can say is AMAZING The quality and quantity of the food is just out of this world Cilla and her team are so welcoming Even our little dog got a roast dinner 🐶 We then had a meal on Thursday evening which was also fantastic As I said food is quality and potions HUGE Cilla and her team go out of their way to make your experience a happy one How people can complain about their food just amazes me ,in all the years we have been going we’ve never had one bad meal You arrive as guests but leave as friends Keep doing what your doing You can’t improve on perfection Colin & Jo

Me and my partner ate at Michelle's in August 2023. A cosy, family-run restaurant serving lovely food at a good price point. Booking in advance in essential, they are only open Thursday to Sunday and do a small number of covers each evening. It really is a small restaurant with an intimate vibe and it was lovely to be able to chat to the family who run the restaurant during and after the meal. The service on the whole was excellent and extremely friendly, particular shout out to the young lady who did a stellar job serving us. Now onto the food - we both opted for seafood (both for starter and main) and it was excellent. The crab bisque starter was absolutely packed with flavour and the mackerel pate was also very nice. No complaints there. For mains we both ordered the monkfish in a creamy sauce and the fish was cooked to absolute perfection, and an excellent sized portion for the price. The monkfish was presented in a very nice and refined way, although slightly at odds with the vegetables/sides which I would describe as more rustic. Regrettably, the truffle and parmesan chips we ordered were too dark on the outside (oil too hot/cooked too long) and I couldn't taste much truffle/parmesan. For dessert we both opted for affogato and unfortunately this just didn't really work. I'm not sure why but the ice cream was extremely hard and never really melted, possibly the freezer was too cold, or there is too much clotted cream in the recipe - shame as the taste was delicious. In terms of drinks, there is a good selection wines at very reasonable prices. On the whole, we had a lovely time. Not everything was perfect but the gripes were fairly minor, and I do believe this place has the potential to be truly outstanding if some of the rougher and more rustic edges are sanded off. I'd certainly return if we visit Polperro again.

Friendly stuff, best seafood ever, definitely coming back

Not as good as we hoped for. Most expensive meal of our holiday and our least favourite. We had the fillet steak which had an unusual taste to it. The chips were a bit greasy too. However starters were lovely and I wish I had that as my main course. We booked on the recommendation of the owner of the cottage where we stayed. We preferred the food at House on the Props which was also better value for money. Staff were great, just a shame the food wasn’t quite there on this occasion

For several years we had this restaurant recommended to us and decided to visit whilst in Polperro this August for our annual visit. We were very much looking forward to our evening. It started off well with a very warm welcome from a gentleman who sat us down and promptly took our drinks order. I chose the scallop dish , followed by rump of lamb and then panna cotta. My husband enjoyed his mackerel pate but sadly my scallops hadn’t been prepared properly with the muscle still attached which I had to remove before eating. My main course was not good - it was described as rump of lamb (cooked medium) with a rich redcurrant and Madeira sauce. It didn’t have a sauce at all as described, and was a watery jus, and the lamb was cooked more than medium. I hardly ate any of my meal. When asked how the meal was I fed back to the front of house waiter. A few minutes later, the lady chef strode out of the kitchen and said she had heard there was a problem. My husband explained that with such a cut of lamb it needed a rich sauce to accompany it and what was served wasn’t as described, just a watery tasteless jus. When asked, she completely avoided a direct question asked about what a sauce versus a jus was, and strode off back to the kitchen muttering “we have taken it off your bill anyway”. This of course left me without a dinner that night, I of course would not want to eat any replacement separately from my husband later. However I was looking forward to one of my favourite desserts , a nice wobbly panna cotta. When it arrived it was so hard I could hardly pierce it with my spoon and it had pure gin poured over the top of it. Normally gin would be incorporated into the panna cotta, but it seemed that excess gelatine had been added to make it set with the gin, then even more gin was poured over to cover it up . The waiter asked if everything was alright and I declined to answer as we had felt embarrassed with the chef marching out after my main course and didn’t want to have the same experience. We heard from the open kitchen (not far away), a heated discussion between the waiter and the chef about the return of this dessert, the waiter asking “what do you want me to do” ie whether to charge or not, and the chef said “do whatever you want to do”. We paid the bill (including the panna cotta but with the lamb taken off) and left. Although we had booked for Sunday lunch we felt anxious that this wouldn’t come up to the high standard that the previous owner maintained and had a reputation for over the years, so we cancelled our booking and ate elsewhere. We decided to try the House on the Props at a later date where we had a lovely meal where the front of house and the chef were friendly and attentive.

This place was recommended to us so we went for Sunday dinner. Sorry to say this but It was fairly bland and the portions were too big. Too much for all of us. We were stuffed until the next day. We heard that the fish is great so we should have tried this. We will try that next time as we would go back. Lovely staff and great for dogs. Good location and great wine. So

Stunning family run restaurant in the beautiful village of Polperro. Seats roughly 20 -24 diners so booking essential and only opens 3 evenings and Sunday lunch. The food is of the very highest quality with same day caught fish on the specials. Dishes of note we loved were the luxury fish pie, lobster & crab mornay & Lemon Sole. Save some room for the homemade deserts. Great service. Highly recommend.

This was a lovely, tucked away restaurant in the village with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was absolutely amazing and beautifully cooked. An absolute must if you are visiting Polperro, but make sure you book in advance!

This is the best restaurant in Polperro for an evening meal. I took my mum there for her birthday and it was absolutely delicious: such fresh fish and vegetables. And the Cornish wine was very more-ish! The staff were very accommodating with my 7-year-old daughter, making a perfect dish of steak and chicken without sauce. They were even delightful with my grumpy collie dog. I HIGHLY recommend. Book in advance or you may not get a spot!

What a wonderful find! Michelle’s food is absolutely first class. Every mouthful was a delight. Especially wonderful was the chowder starter, absolutely packed with flavour and taste and the amazing biscotti cheese cake, was a tastebud sensation! Only sorry we live 300 miles away but already planning to go back when we visit Cornwall next year. An amazing meal and lovely attentive staff.

Lovely little restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. Me and my partner had the scallops for starters and the monkfish for main followed by the homemade biscotti cheesecake with clotted cream! Delicious. One thing that I like is that your whole dining experience isn't rushed and your table is yours for the evening. You must book and its only a small intimate place. Glad we went , staff are lovely and I wish the new owners all the best and to keep up the amazing hard work!

Nice little restaurant in Polperro. We went on a Sunday when it only serves roasts. Service was great, very friendly Nice atmosphere. The roasts were huge, perhaps a little too huge tbh. I find such a big plate a little off putting but you certainly can't complain about portion sized. I would probably get the small roast next time.

A lovely, quaint little restaurant tucked away in the narrow, charming streets of Polperro. Beautifully cooked and tasty food, if rather expensive. The service was somewhat ponderous and confused, with the waitresses not really seeming to know if we were waiting for menus, waiting to order food, waiting for drinks etc, but they were allways friendly and pleasant. It's not like it's a big restaurant either, just a few tables. Beware of the small colourful flowers used to garnish the food. The ones in our meals, were home to many tiny bugs, keenly spotted by our daughter. If I let my heart rule my head I'd give Michelle's a solid 4 stars, but I have to take into account the price, the inexplicably confused service and the bonus insect protein.
