Michelangelo in Isle of Wight

We are 4 friends currently visiting the island and 3 of us visited for the first time. The food was the best Italian food we had all ever tasted, so fresh and something I personally will remember for a very long time. Seafood risotto is not on the menu but they kindly made this for me and boy was it good. The pear tiramisu was to die for. I really hope to visit the Isle of Wight again someday and I'll certainly recommend this wonderful restaurant to all of my friends. The staff were so friendly and had time to have a chat with us. Thank you for ending our mini break with such a great memory

Absolutely wonderful meal, the service was superb. We were in there for over 2 hours, but it didn't feel like it!

Food, service, and atmosphere all 5/5. We had the soup of the day and a pizza and were very pleased.

Like many other reviews, restaurant looks great from the outside, has locals recommending it - yet, arrived with 2 children, approached by waitress who looked us up and down, and said they had no tables available, yet 3/4 of the restaurant was empty! Looks like your establishment has issues with staff attitude & children, maybe turn your restaurant into adult only to save offending customers. We tried another local restaurant who were amazing and also said they had heard the same from dozens of other customers. Carry on like this, you’ll be yet another empty premises on the Island.

Lovely restaurant on the Esplanade just opposite the railway station and hoverport. It was clean, smart and in good condition yet rustic. The staff were attentive friendly and enthusiastic about the menu choices. I had the bruschetta, chicken and affogato - all excellent.

Scrumptious meal in a lovely restaurant with far-reaching views of the Solent

Very good food, arguably the best restaurant in ryde. Good authentic Italian 🇮🇹 been many times never disappointed. If your eating on a Friday or sat night book first or may be disappointed.

This is my favourite Italian restaurant located on the Isle of Wight. Friendly, professional, good service and excellent delicious food. To dine there is like being with family.

Excellent food & service. Very friendly staff. My family & I had an excellent meal, here, one evening. It turned out to be a great choice.

The whole experience here was amazing. Gemma our server was great and made us feel welcomed. This was our first time visiting as a group of 4 and happily spent two and a half hours here enjoying starter, main, dessert and coffee. The atmosphere was very calming. I would like to say gain that our server Gemma was amazing and made the experience even better.

What a lovely restaurant - we went there for lunch one day and then dinner the other day, enjoyed the food, ambience and service ! Such amazing , calm staff, always smiling and ready with suggestions. Me and my partner had pasta, pizza, bruschetta, cake and icecream ( both days included) and everything was delicious 🤤. Highly recommended - would love to visit again!

I tried the place just for coffee and cake snd the staff on both occasion were hostile and had a very strange attituse towards me . Maybe they didn't like my clothes ! Felt very uncomfortable and prefer to take my custom somewhere more welcoming thank you .

Service - There was a large group of 8 booked in to eat for a birthday party, the service was very slow, this was to place our drinks orders and food orders. We went up to the counter and asked for water for the table and asked to place our drinks order, it took another 10 minutes to get the waitress to come to us, the restaurant was not busy, and they were turning away people saying they were full, not in the 2-3 hours we were there did we see it full! Food - The food I would say was average, I had a pizza and it had a base that was mostly like a cracker, other people had pasta or meat dishes, the portion sizes were very small for the price. We did have a few desserts within the party, and all really enjoyed them, the ladies fingers were gorgeous, the coffees were nice and punchy.

We came here for our anniversary, and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and we were never waiting long. We had three courses and the price was very reasonable. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy, even more so as the evening went on and the restaurant was lit with gentle low lights. We would definitely return ❤️

Don’t bother trying this place on the off chance, we tried to drop in on a Saturday evening at 5pm for a quick bite to eat, at that time there was only one table being served but we were turned away as they were fully booked ??. Walked round and had a bite to eat and passed by an hour later to see the restaurant had still just one table occupied. Must have been really really important people to book the whole restaurant up. Seriously if you can’t handle more than one table on a Saturday night it might be best to get a change of staff, food might be amazing but not sure how they can turn trade away when it’s pretty much empty

Could not be better! Lovely place, found it by chance and so glad we did. Makes such a change to be in a restaurant who have genuine service and wonderful food unlike many chains! Thank you and we will without doubt come back.

Beautiful home cooked Italian food. Relaxing atmosphere with no pressure to finish your meal, very mederatanian feeling. Bruchetta was beautiful 😍 highly recommend 👌tragically could not make room for pudding.

Lovely little Italian restaurant in Ryde, situated at the bottom of the hill not far from the pier it was a welcome stop. We had a lovely meal, portions just about right, served by friendly accommodating staff. Would go again. Recommended.

We were on the island for 4 days and this was by far the best meal we had during our stay.

First time we visited the food and service was great , so I would have given 5 stars but we then ate there the next day and wasn't so good the service wasn't so good nor the seating v noisy too, and the food wasn't as good as the night before

We've been going here for mine and husbands birthday or anniversary for past 16 years. Love it. Love the food, the staff, the decor, the service. we recognise the lady everytime. Family run. Always have to book, s good sign.. Absolutely feel we are on holiday when eating here. Our fav. Please dont ever change. 😍

It was an amazing dinner with spaghetti bolognese and pizza! Thought it was just a typical seaside local restaurant but as soon as we got in, people were friendly and interior was lovely and cozy! Besides the food was delicious as well. Highly recommend!

Great food just off the Esplanade, Got a last minute booking on Sunday before Bank Holiday, so glad we did. Lovely attentive staff and a superb menu. We had a selection of their various bruschetta to start and then various options from the main menu, all were cooked to perfection and really tasty. Great deserts and we weren't rushed out even though were well after the end of the lunch period. Great service and would certainly visit again.

Super tasty Italian food and probably therefore significantly overpriced, as there are probably no equivalent competitors at the same high level in the entire city of Ryde. Tasty but not very cheap 😂🙈💚

Really good customer service! Our pizza took longer than expected to get to us due to some oven issues in the kitchen but due to this issue, the staff did not let us pay for the pizza and said it was on them. They are extremely friendly and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. Would highly recommend, A++++

Recent visit over the Bank Holiday weekend, thought we'd try here rather than our "usual" restaurant in Ryde. The food was very good. Between us we had one pizza and three pasta dishes as well as dessert. They were all excellent! The service on the other hand was mediocre. Didn't seem pleased when one of us wanted tap water, weren't very attentive to any extra drinks needed and we were all left gobsmacked by the rudeness to other guests entering the restaurant (one couple had the audacity to bring in a baby in a carrier that doesn't fold!!) Summary: good food, but service and poor/rude servers (or were they owners?) mean we probably won't be back

Went to this restaurant at 7pm. They were extremely busy but they told us to return in half an hour which we did. The food took long to come this is because they were extremely busy and popular and they tried their best to keep everyone happy. We ordered the homemade seafood lasagna-absolutely mouthwatering and delicious which hit all the right spots in the stomach. My daughter ordered vegan pizza. We are staying in Ryde until Friday and hope to return before we go back to mainland on Friday. Thank you for being the best Italian restaurant around. Its a shame you only received 4.6 stars from another review due to the food taking long -does that person not appreciate that delicious food takes long to make??? I’m slightly annoyed with that person for only giving 4.6 stars.

I've only eaten pizzas this good in Milan before. Been to the Isle of Wight for decades and missed out on this restaurant before now. Boy! If I could only turn back the clock and have tried this place sooner. Will definitely be back. (And get the ice cream with an espresso in. Mmm)

A perfect location, overlooking the solent and Ryde pier. As soon as you enter, you are greeted professionally and courteously. The owners are real Italians and this shows in their menu. The food is lovely and fresh and great value.

Always a fantastic meal. Been visiting for over 15 years and used to be a favourite spot for me and my now wife to visit. Hadn't been for a few years but visited again tonight and had the same order we've always had and still just as fantastic as it always has been. A lovely location which provides a timeless Italian experience. Viva la Michelangelo!

We needed a rest after shopping. It was very calm and had a nice cup of tea.

Michelangelo is a little slice of Italy tucked away on the Isle of Wight. The food is fabulous and the beautiful warm atmosphere makes you want to stay all night.

Clean, friendly, cozy restaurant with a good view and delicious food. The service was also impeccable, with very nice staff! I recommend!

Magnificent pizza and great service

It's a great little independent Italian restaurant. We ate there as a family, had a could of pizzas and Spaghetti Bolognese to share between 2 adults and 3 young kids. Food was lovely, it's not cheap, but worth the little extra for what was fresh, quality and tasty food. Service was quick and friendly and we will certainly eat there again when we are next on the iow.

Cozy litle place on the lower corner of high street. Well worth a visit 🙂

I went there with my partner and the service was bad, little bit rude and the food was not what I expected. The bread was burnt and the pasta was simple and not big deal. Prices too high for the quality of food. Only the young waitress was really nice. Not going again. The lady and man who were that day SUPER RUDE. Dont go to this place.

Latte very weak...could hardly taste the coffee...and flat white, also not strong enough. For an Italian place- disappointing.

Delicious 3 course meal accompanied by harp music & singing on the opening night of the Harp Festival.

I only went in here for a snack but enjoyed the food recommended. The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome.

Had my birthday meal there- fantastic food freshly cooked, great waiter service. I have never had a meal that was below excellent. I had the ravioli di zucca (pumpkin pasta with amaretto) delicious! The chocolate cake is very dark and delicious complemented perfectly with the mint ice-cream.

Cannot fault the delicious meal freshly prepared, well worth the wait. Please be patience you won't regret it.

Delicious, authentic Italian food. All the staff were friendly and polite and had time for you, even on a busy night. It has taken us a long time to get to the restaurant but was perfect for our anniversary treat.

We were a large tour group so it was great that they could accommodate us. The set menu we had was limited to assist them to get meals out within a reasonable time. Unfortunately it was slow and getting a drink was difficult. I must congratulate them on having cold beers on a warm night. The lamb shoulder was excellent. The entrees were very good. The chocolate cake dessert was basic and wouldn’t recommend. Go the tiramisu. Much better. Authentic Italian cuisine and friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars but food took too long and difficult to get a drink.

My family and I found this restaurant whilst on holiday in Ryde, it was my Mother In Laws’ birthday. There were five adults and three children, one being a newborn in a pram. From the outside it seemed like a great option for dinner, it was quiet, only a few people seated inside. Upon entering the building I was greeted with a sigh and a disgusted face, I felt like the scum of the earth. The woman didn’t even bother to come and greet me at the door and see what I wanted. She saw there was a group of us with small children and turned her back to us, completely ignoring me. Her attitude was disgusting and made me very uncomfortable. She clearly didn’t want the business and lost a couple of hundred pounds thanks to her bad attitude. Avoid if you have a family, very disappointing. 😤

We had an amazing meal here last night. The best food we have had in a restaurant in a long time, the antipasto sharing starter was incredible and so was the carbonara. Would throughly recommend. Staff were so friendly, only criticism is that we couldn’t leave a tip through the card machine.

Excellent food and service as always. We first came here about 15 years ago and make a point of booking at least one meal when we visit the island.

A wonderful little Italian restaurant/cafe with great views of the sea by Ryde pier. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was incredible! If you are a fan of Italian food, this is a place you must visit while on the island.
