Mi and pho in Manchester

Another fab meal at mi & pho , one of my favourite restaurants in Manchester. Love the summer rolls & peanut sauce

Visited for the first time last night and I was so impressed! The restaurant was packed, really nice buzz. Food was absolutely delicious, really good value. Be aware that they don’t serve alcohol, but you can take your own or buy some from the shop opposite. They just charge a small fee for corkage. CJ and the team once again delivered an amazing evening with fabulous food. We went for a choir night out midweek and every aspect of the evening was phenomenal. Atmosphere was fantastic, service exceptional and as always the food could not have been better.

We were staying nearby before a flight. Great selection of food, very fresh and tasty ! No alcohol but bring your own … corkage is reasonable! Nice to meet local families. We will return 🤞

Bland restaurant, bland food. Food greasy, luke warm. In view of the quick service, obviously not freshly cooked . not recommend

Summer rice rolls were tasty, expensive for the amount you got but tasty. The only thing that really let it down for me was the lack of satay sauce.

Been six times previously so obviously very happy repeat customer, however be warned. New chef who I can only presume is in training on mains. Starters were fab. Mains very average, son was too polite to complain but his tasted like dish water with chilli oil. I complained asked for Manager who then disappeared carrying his pet dog not to be seen. Found the deputy who agreed to give a 10% discount but on checking bank today discovered she charged the full amount but not to worry off to another Vietnamese close by. Shame for them as they were amazing, hope the chef was having a bad day.

Amazing food! The prices are so reasonable, the papaya salad is delicious and the staff were all very friendly. We will be back!

Very disappointing food. Nothing like the quality we used to get. The spring rolls were very greasy, the summer rolls fell apart, & I had to hunt to find the tiny bits of meat in the Mi & Pho (nothing) special rice. (A serious reduction in the amount of meat compared to what there used to be, & the prices have gone up!) Nothing like it used to be sadly. Who wants to get a "special" rice & have to play, "find the meat?"Sad that it's come to this, as it's obvious that profit is much more important than quality. I'm sure the owner won't be happy, & will reply, but this is the service & quality I received, which is sad as we've eaten in there & had takeaways since they opened, & it's all been good, up until this. He'll be happy to hear, after this, we won't be eating here again.

We eat here all the time. It’s amazing value but always fantastic food. The owner is really passionate and the staff are super friendly.

What a shame. Not been for a while and previously always has a great experience. This time however it was a different story. Had to wait ages for the food to arrive and when it did they only brought my husbands and not mine. He had eaten by the time mine came. My main course was very bland, I’ve had the same dish before and it wasn’t like this. Staff never came and asked if we needed anything, and restaurant so busy with takeaway they ignored their customers in there. Waitress very curt and not at all helpful. Next time will go a few doors down to other Vietnamese place.

I have been going to Mi and Pho for many years and my family and I have visited dozens of times and had many good meal experiences. I've also left 5 star reviews in the past. However, this visit fell well below the standards I've experienced before. We arrived at the appointed time but the main part of the restaurant still had the majority of tables occupied by diners so we were led to Table 13, in an area beyond the main dining room which was absolutely freezing (so cold in fact, that we had to keep our coats on for the duration of our visit). We were then told to order immediately because the kitchen was about to close and informed by the rather curt waitress that we also had to have our starters and main courses served together. We quickly ordered and after a few minutes some of the starters and main courses started to arrive but some mains were arriving before the starters. I ordered summer rolls but they were quite poor and falling apart on the plate so there was no chance of picking them up to dip in the sauce. The main that I've ordered previously (Bun chicken Combo) was served in one bowl with all the ingredients just piled on top of each other. I don't know if this is now the standard way of serving it now or just cobbled together because they were in a rush to finish. I went to pay the bill and was asked by the man who took my payment how it was. I explained it wasn't as good as previous visits but he made no attempt to check what the issues were. So, based on this latest visit,  I don't think I'll be coming again based on this poor experience.

I’m missing my favourite restaurants so have taken a bit of time in lockdown to review my last visit at the end of February.Firstly the place was packed on a week night, granted it is small, but it is testament to the food there are so many people there. My husband took advantage to the BYO but I ordered some of the in house made soft drinks – all excellent. I went summer rolls the beef Pho – a well trodden path. Both fine examples. All the condiments to season the broth are delicious. My husband went for wok fried noodles – again really good and a big portion. Cant wait for it to reopen and to be back slurping noodles.

Normally eat here once a week but ordered for takeaway the first time this evening in lockdown. Normally the food is a complete 5/5 and the service perfect, however this evening we ended up waiting 30 minutes despite pre-ordering 6 hours before, the some of our dishes were cold and it was clear that they had a real issue with the amount of orders received as the kitchen staff couldn’t cope. The beef in my coconut beef dish also tasted very rubbery and cheap. I love the place and can’t wait to go back to eat there but shan’t be ordering take away again.

travelled to MI and Pho for a little food trip because we wanted to try Pho. Happy to say, best Pho we've had, great atmosphere and great selection of food choice. We will definitely be back after all this COVID chaos is over.

Love this place! Came in for a feast on Friday night with my boyfriend. Brought our own gin and slim and paid the corkage charge alongside some of the best food. Lovely small business doing really well for themselves, would strongly recommend.

As we have visited Vietnam in the past we found the food to be authentic,staff very friendly and attentive and anticipated your needs. As you can take in your own alcohol this a bonus. Would definitely return. We have found our own little piece of Vietnam.

I wish that I lived nearer to this place! This authentic little restaurant is really a star. Took a friend for a quick lunch and had superb, high quality food once again. We enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the meat spring rolls. I can honestly say, I think they were the best spring rolls that I have ever had. The homemade lemonade was very good too, not overly sweet. Thank you for the polite and friendly service. The restaurant now accepts cards too.

This was our second time visiting Mi and Pho. As it was a very cold day, we decided to drive to Manchester on sunday for some great Pho. Again, we had a very nice experience. We had the salted shrimp and the fresh shirm rolls as our starter. We both had a bowl of the combination Pho. I will tell you that the Pho portions are very big. I would suggest that if there are two of you, I would suggest splitting the portion. Again, great meal and I cant wait to go back again to taste everything on the menu!

We have been to Mi and Pho on many occasions and left last time disappointed . Unfortunately we sat on a table near the door . There was many people coming in and out and the door wasn't shutting properly each time. The staff did shut it sometimes but I spent more time out of my seat sorting it out . Staff lovely but felt food not as tasty and my had a big piece of chicken gristle in it .

Had their fried spring rolls and rare beef pho. Taste was acceptable including the pho. The restaurant was popular with many locals and it was packed by 1900hours! Environment is rather dark and price is mid to high range! The fresh rolls and egg rolls looks good.

The food is absolutely fantastic and is obviously a winner all round as this place is always busy and booked up! I often ring my order through and collect as I can't go too long without Pho! Yum! :)

Went for the first time with my husband after FB recommendations and were not disappointed. Had crispy chicken rolls which were very generous size, I had soup with prawns and my husband had vietnamese chicken curry. They are not licensed for alcohol but you can bring your own for a small corkage fee. Book in advance as busy at w/ends and will surely come back.

OMG! Had a fantastic lunch on our way home back to Preston. I haven’t had Pho this good since I moved from the States years ago. All of the food came out piping hot and very fresh and flavorful. We will definitely be returning to this establishment on our next trip to Manchester. I would definitely suggest.

Passed this restaurant so many times and we decided to try it out. Booked a table online and when we got there we still didn’t had a table but (I assume) the owner apologised and told us it was a off license that we could go to Tesco if we wished to bring some alcohol for dinner.

This is simply a fantastic place, very simple inside, no airs and graces which makes it all about the food- its all cooked quickly and to order with super-fresh ingredients, served by really friendly staff, in a nice atmosphere at a frankly bargain price- this is the best of this type of food i have had for a long long time- Ace! I have visited this restaurant half a dozen times since I discovered it about a year ago. It is an award winning establishment and it’s easy to see why. The food is authentic and incredible value for money. As it is so popular, it is necessary to book well in advance. They also have a takeaway service. The restaurant is licensed and they charge a corkage of £1.50 per bottle of wine. There is plenty of roadside parking in the area.

Very busy restaurant, with many dishes to chose from, ordered beef pho, papaya salad and a pork dish which were all very nice, presented well and generous in size and taste. Garnishes for pho come separately which is nice for the heat control. The staff were efficient and friendly, they also gave a pho doggie bag to take away. I'll definitely have to try their other dishes such as fried octopus another time. It's a very popular and busy place, even on a Sunday, so booking is recommended.

Visited on a Wednesday night with my family. Cosy little restaurant not many tables but lots of friendly, attentive staff, tasty food and great atmosphere. Everything we tried was great and service was really quick. Highly recommend.

Estábamos visitando amigos que viven cerca y que regularmente comen aquí. Que lugar tan fantástico. Gran ambiente, comida increíble y un personal encantador y amable. No vivimos en Northenden y escuchamos sobre Mi y Pho de boca en boca. Habíamos tenido la intención de ir por mucho tiempo, así que probé para el almuerzo: no aparezcas por la noche si no has reservado, ya que siempre está lleno, incluso en un día laborable, y no obtendrás una mesa. De todos modos, a la hora del almuerzo no era tan loco, a pesar de que había un buen número de personas que seguían comiendo incluso a las 2. 30 pm! Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida y la camarera fue realmente servicial: el menú no es tan extenso como parece, y puede tener prácticamente todos los platos con una selección de tofu, pollo, carne de res, pato, cerdo, langostinos u otros mariscos. No noté el tablero de especialidades hasta después de haber ordenado, lo cual fue una lástima, ya que habría elegido el plato de salmón caramelizado que sonaba delicioso. Las porciones son realmente generosas, y la comida, aunque sabrosa, se siente como si estuviera comiendo 'limpiamente' ya que nada es grasoso, y la mayoría de los platos vienen con una gran cantidad de ingredientes para ensaladas, así como verduras en los platos salteados. La decoración es bastante básica pero tiene un cierto encanto: estaba un poco oscuro durante el día pero sería más atmosférico por la noche. El restaurante no tiene licencia, pero el descorche es realmente barato a solo 3 por una botella de vino, bastante sorprendente. Dos entrantes, dos platos principales y tres refrescos llegaron a 33, asombrosamente de gran valor.

A friend and I visited last night, and despite my friend’s reservations about Vietnamese food, he said it was one of the best meals that he’s ever had. The food was indeed excellent- incredibly fresh and tasty salads; perfectly cooked meat and delicately tangy dressings.
