Mendi Indian Restaurant in Wychavon

We were recommended this takeaway through a friend of a friend and tried it last night. The restaurant is not open for eating in, it's takeaway only for now, but we hope that it opens for eating in in the future. From the first phone call it became apparent that this was going to be a very pleasant experience. Our meal was going to be hand cooked from scratch with love and once she was aware we were vegan she was very helpful in guiding our menu choices. You collect the food from the post office next door. The food was delicious and not saturated in oil like a lot of takeaway food that I've tried and the lady was super lovely and made us feel like we were family. It was also incredible good value for money.

Called in at Post Office next door, as was looking for food for lunchtime training session in Droitwich. Saw hot cabinet in corner nearly empty, so asked behind counter if they had any more take away. Gentleman serving behind counter called his Mum, who agreed to make enough fresh bhajis & samosas for collection in 2 hours. They were fantastic & would thoroughly recommend sampling. I'll be back. Can't wait till the restaurant is open again, to sample more dishes. Tim Scarlett.

Innocently went to the post office in wychbold/droitwich to get some cash and spied some samosas and spring rolls in the warmer and got one each. OMG the best flavours ever the different spices and textures in the lovely little potato samosas and the combination of cottage cheese and spring onion in the spring rolls incredible. I've had many and cooked many spring rolls and have never had an explosion of flavours in my mouth before. Hands down the best ever. More to come.....

Had a fabulous take-away from Mendhi's this evening, freshly prepared and as delicious as always. Although the restaurant is closed at the moment, we were thrilled to find out that we could order all our favourites to take away (with collection via the the Post Office and General Store in Wychbold). It was lovely to be welcomed back and have such a treat. Compliments to the chef for a superb meal !

I had a terrific taste of proper Indian Street food from the Dabbawala Junction stall out front of the Mendi restaurant. WR9 7PA . The food was fresh and tasty made by some real enthusiasts. It makes a real change for fast food. I urge you to give it a go.

What I can we say, amazing we arrived at the express by holiday inn as having to travel to collect son from the Army. We had brought a packed lunch as wasn’t sure what to expect my husband rang the restaurant on the off chance. The lady was so lovely and very accommodating who said she would cook for us even though they were quiet, we did not know what to expect. My husband went over to collect the food and she was so happy and lovely and helped him get money from cash machine in post office next door. We were blown away by the food sag paneer was gorgeous cauli bhajee and veg damask mushroom rice and chapati. Something that was spontaneous was the nicest Indian I have ever tasted I wish we lived closer. Thank you to the lady who made our essential trip nicer by being accommodating and delicious food well done guys and good luck if we have to stay here again on any collections we will be calling you straight away 💚

Great food in an authentic Indian setting. Unbelievable service from two lovely ladies who couldn't do enough for you and made you feel very special. A group of us shared starters, mains and sides and everyone loved it. Will definitely return and suggest everyone checks this place out.

Lovely little restaurant close to the motorway, ran by the nicest Punjabi ladies who really look after every customer! Small restaurant with a great vibe, so booking in advance is advised as it was their old house converted into a restaurant. Tasty, real vegetarian Indian food, as opposed to a typical curry house. Will be back for sure!

This is an amazing find!! Just off the M5 at Junction 5 it offers outstanding vegetarian cuisine and friendly efficient service. We were made most welcome and will certainly be wanting to go again.

Purely vegetarian and simply the best food you will taste. Authentic dishes, great atmosphere and lovingly served to you by the wonderful staff. If ever you have wanted to try a vegetarian restaurant then I would highly recommend Mendi.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and the receptionist recommended the restaurant across the way. Meat and alcohol free suited me as I was on a business trip with an early start but what a meal. I have eaten such meals in India but never had better than this. The food, the flavours, the service were excellent and I cannot recommend Mendi highly enough. Don’t think that this is a compromise, it is nothing of the sort- you will not be disappointed.

Title says most. One Vegeterian and one omnivore, superb food, friendly fast service all delivered at a reasonable price.

Myself and my wife who is of Punjabi background, booked a table on recommendation. Fantastic food, probably the most authentic Punjabi food we have ever had. You don’t have to be vegetarian to enjoy the quality on offer. Thoroughly recommend and will visit again soon. Chris & Pinder

This is an excellent vegetarian Indian restaurant. We had a very good meal to celebrate my husband's birthday. There is a welcoming friendly atmosphere and service together with a good choice of very enjoyable meals. You can choose the level of heat that you want from the dish and although the restaurant isn't licensed you are welcome to bring your own alcohol.

The atmosphere in this vegetarian restaurant is very traditional and authentic which matches the food, one vegan and one meat eater and we very much enjoyed our meals! One main was slightly spicy for my friend’s soft palate but the delightful lady who was so friendly and welcoming got him some yoghurt and fresh tomato which brought out the flavours and subsided the spice! We had our drinks served in goblets and we very much enjoyed our time. Will definitely come again!

Me and my husband decided last minute to come and finally sample the wonderful vegetarian food this restaurant offers, it is home cooking at its best you will not be disappointed, we were both made to feel very welcome on arrival it has a very homely feel and nothing was too much trouble, we had starters & mains, the saag paneer was so flavoured and tasty and my vegetarian Puri was again very fresh and beautifully flavoured. Mendo the lady who owns this lovely place is such a friendly, chatty person who takes the time to come and speak to you, and we would not hesitate to come here again with our friends & family, compliments to the chef for such wonderful dishes. We go regularly to Mendi for our girls night out. The staff are so friendly, the food is fresh and incredibly tasty and such good value for money. Great selection of breads. We aren't vegetarians but much prefer the food here to other local Indian restaurants. Being able to bring our own alcohol is a plus too.

So having driven past here on my way to the M5 over the past however many years, we decided to visit.

A lovely home cooked curry with friendly service. Samosas and Bhajis were very tasty, as were the curries and nan bread! (Would recommend the mushroom and okra curry).

This was the third year we have chosen to have our NYE meal at Mendi. The food is always delicious, and the staff are very welcoming. Lovely home cooked fare with fresh tasting ingredients, and amazingly good value. Highly recommended - do go and experience this great place!

We were staying at the Holiday Inn and didn't want to travel far away. To our delight this restaurant was just opposite the hotel. We were skeptical at first but placed an order for Takeaway.

We were booked into the Holiday Inn Express in Droitwich on a Saturday night. Next door we saw a MacDonalds and Harvester restaurant. Not really fancying either we were about to hop in the car and head off in the direction of the town centre. Then we saw a modest sign ‘Mendi Indian Restaurant’ on a house sandwiched between MacDonalds and the Harvester. We peeked in and we were warmly welcomed by Mendi and although fully booked we were squeezed in.

I stayed across the road at the Holiday inn so it's a walking choice between McDonald's, Harvester or a Veggie Indian at Mendi! Decided on Mendi sceptical as I'm not a veggie! I Started with the onion bhajis followed by a vegetable jalfrezi and aloo gobi with a side dish of Bombay potatoes. I opted for mushroom rice and a garlic and cheese naan.

How did I not know about this place??? Lovely home cooked authentic vegetarian Indian food. Well looked after by Mendi who is clearly passionate about vegetarian food. Delicious food which non-veggies will love too. Make sure you support this local gem. Loved it!!! Simon

I chose this restaurant based on the reviews, I couldn’t decide what I wanted and was not particularly hungry and so chose four starters, in order to try an assortment. The food was served on one large plate instead of four individual servings and only one lot of salad and one dip.

Wow. What can I say. Both my wife and I love a meat curry but discovered Mendi when we stayed at the holiday inn next door. Without any shadow of doubt the food is remarkable. So tasty it did not even need meat. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere lovely. We now realise that you do not need meat to enjoy a truly superb Indian meal. The samosa was delicious, the jalfrazi delicious and the naan wonderful. My wife had the superb spring roll and mushroom dish and loved every bit. When we are next in the area we will return. I've stayed at the next door Holiday Inn express a few times and always disregarded this place. What an error! A colleague recommend.

Had a lovely evening here with the delightful ladies who served us efficiently with lots of chat and good humour! One managed to juggle taking orders with chatting with lots of guests and jiggling a baby from a other table! The food was really delicious. Chilli paneer starter is a must and the makali kofta was a favourite. She was right to tell is that their naan is delicious and we were helped with portion control so we didn't over order! Relaxed atmosphere and friendly service with fabulous food. Really recommend.

What a find a vegetarian restaurant and the food was very home prepared and delicious. The best naan bread ever and a suitably warm dhansak curry - just amazing. Friendly service by someone who truly cares. Don’t drive past, it is worth stopping for!

Wow ... do they know how to cook!! Amazing fresh flavours that burst into every mouthful of this wonderful vegetarian food. Absolutely loved it. Each dish tasted totally different and was obviously created with passion and love from scratch. You won't be disappointed. It's BYOB.

My family and I always go to Mendis whenever we want to eat out- we can’t resist! The staff are incredibly welcoming and the dining area is cozy, well decorated and has a wonderful ambiance. The food is possibly the best Indian you can get outside of India. A great selection of curries, all vegetarian and with many vegan options as well. Mendo herself (the owner) is amazing- make sure to say hi!

I came here two nights in a row whilst in town for business. I had the Dansak with mushroom fried rice and it was amazing. Highly recommended, even if you aren’t vegetarian you will still enjoy. I look forward to visiting again

My sister & I walked in for a meal & were greeted and looked after by Mendi herself.

This is the second time we've been to Mendi's and it's the second time we have been blown away by the brilliance of this place. If you want to try something different from the usual run-of-the-mill curry experience (i.e. chicken tikka masala and chips) then you won't be disappointed.

As usual, the flavours danced and each dish was excellent. To have food freshly cooked is a joy. The service is personal, welcoming and friendly. It feels very much like being invited to a friends for dinner.

We were on holiday in the area and searched TripAdvisor for local restaurants that had at least a couple of vegetarian options and found Mendi. We were promptly attended to and found that the menu offered a great range of options. The food was excellent and the service was to match. If we're ever in the area again we'll certainly be visiting again.

We visited Mendi for the first time on a Friday night - after a number of recommendations - and we were absolutely delighted.

Thought I'd take my cousin who is visiting from New Zealand as she is a vegetarian. Food was amazing and taste and presentation were outstanding. It's well worth visit. Made a change not eat meat but I didn't miss it. We will be back, many thanks

A group of 4 of us went on others recommendations. Friendly service although kitchen was very confused about what was or could be made vegan. Starter was fine but spicy. Main was incredibly spicy - I ordered a Dhansak but couldn't see any lentils in it. I could only eat about 4 mouthfuls - shame that all the lovely vegetables had the taste masked with spice! I came away disappointed. Another in our group had the Jalfiezi which they enjoyed. I guess if you like very spicy food, then it's great. I'm not a spice wimp, but this was too hot for my taste.

Midweek meal with the girls from work, celebrating a birthday. The restaurant came highly recommended and it certainly did not disappoint!! The food was excellent, such a huge range to choose from (I'm a meat eater but could definitely forego if I had food like this all of the time!), the welcome was warm and the owner was a delight and made us all feel very at home!! She was very attentive and looked after our needs. I will definitely be back, I cannot recommend highly enough!! Seriously good and seriously tasty food!

It is a joy to have a whole menu to choose from. As a vegetarian I am used to limited choice on a menu and to come here and be able to eat anything on the menu is a treat.

Five of us dined here for a celebratory meal and being a meat eater I felt it would be missing that vital ingredient but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

First visit here for my birthday (21/05/19), with the girls from work. I was the only vegetarian in the group, so it was thoughtful they chose this restaurant for me. We pick a slection of mains, to try a bit of everything. Wow it was cooked beautifully. It was full of flavour, rice was perfect, naans thin and light. Service was excellent and the owner is a lovely lady. Will definitely go back. Excellent value for money

Arrived at 10pm (web site says open till 11pm) and was told it’s too late to serve!! Not really customer orientated. Obviously will not be back!!

Our first time visiting Mendi was great. We had two starters, two mains and two sides and it came to around £30.00. My Dad, who is not a vegetarian, thoroughly enjoyed his food and said that he definitely wants to return. The food was beautiful, tasty and fresh. The man serving us was very nice and made us feel welcome. I particularly enjoyed the Chili Paneer. We strongly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back here!

We dined there without booking after entertaining at a local festival and had a warm welcome and superb service. The food was excellent and such a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The decor is beautiful without ostentation. Will definitely return as three of us are gluten free and we were well provided for.

Wife and I recently visited Mendi .Neither of us are vegetarian but we do have the benefit of having travelled through India many times and have sampled fantastic vegetarian food . Mendi really reminded us of some of the great food we have eaten on the sub - continent .

Me and my boyfriend went to this restaurant a little hesitant due to the whole menu being vegetarian. However the curry that I ordered was one of the nicest I have ever had. Wonderful customer service and reasonable prices. Would recommend, whether you are vegetarian or not, and will definitely be visiting again.

My wife and I visited this small family run restaurant 13th April. There was a sweet little older lady in her late 60s taking orders and dealing with customers. The service is 2nd to none, food tastey,hot and very fresh. Well worth a visit.

Just brilliant like the food I remember from India. All dishes are prepared with love, full of flavour and not oily or salty. I love my meat but you don't miss it. The spinach and paneer cheese is to die for.

I recently visited and was welcomed on entry by the very polite owner. We were given great recommendations of food and given plenty of time to choose our food. Service was quick and the food was better than expected since I am not a vegetarian. Would definitely recommend for all who are looking for a different meal to your regular microwave curry as ingredients are all fresh and prepared on site.

My wife and I are Lenten vegetarians and came to visit Mendi's restaurant on a Saturday evening after having had recommendations from a) serious vegetarians and b) other part timers.

We visited in a group of six college friends now in our 60s, originating from Kolkata, India. The three committed non vegetarians amongst us were a little doubtful initially. But we were all very pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. It is so rare to find such a gem of of a restaurant serving authentic, delicious home cooked food in the middle of the Midlands, the 'curry' capital of North Indian Nonvegetarian food.

I should have known better when I saw it was empty. I settled on a selection from the take away menu to take over to my room in adjacent holiday inn as I fancied a bit of curry. Sorry not for me. Worst Curry I have ever tasted and perhaps an acquired taste for plant eaters.

I used to be a great fan of this restaurant but the lady who owns it is unbelievably rude. My friend used to be a waitress there and I've always known that the lady takes the tips upstairs to keep for herself. We tried to place an order but she kept hanging up on us. When we eventually did get through, we were told to phone back in twenty minutes because she's too busy and hung up on us again. I used to enjoy the food here but the woman needs to learn a serous lesson in customer care

Second visit, food is still amazing! If you are vegetarian and haven’t been then get booked in and go! I have not eaten at an Indian restaurant and tasted flavours that match this place. 10/10 can’t wait to return again just a shame I live so far. We even stayed in a hotel just to eat here that’s how good it is.

I have been to Mendi several times before and recommended it to a couple of friends who run a vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Cheltenham. We therefore arranged a day to visit and I drove them up to Bromsgrove for supper.

Staying at the nearby Holiday Inn so very convenient. Staff were OK but not chatty types. The food was very tasty.

Visited after a very disappointing attempt at the nearby Harvester.

The food was nice, especially the paneer makhani. I thought the woman who owned it seemed very friendly too. However, I think it is a little too expensive. I also learned from a close friend who used to waitress there that the lady who owns it takes the tip jar upstairs where she lives. I do not wish to support an establishment that steals the tips off its' staff.

We came across this by a stroke of luck, we were staying in the hotel opposite and went in, at first not realising it was vegetarian, it was NYE and was busy with phone orders, the polite lady managed to squeeze us in, where we went on to enjoy our 2 course meal, whilst throughout the meal the staff continued to be nothing but excellent with us. Great night out, would definitely visit again.

The staff are friendly and helpful. This is perfect for vegetarians with great choices but you don't have to be vegetarian to enjoy the food here, It really is very good.It Is also good value.Remember to bring your own wine or beer with you.

My wife is vegetarian, but I am not. One of the best curries we have had. Very friendly staff, the owner even came to our table to make sure everything was ok. Good value for money and a nice clean and welcoming environment. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Was staying over locally on business and this place was recommended by a staff member in the hotel. As a vegetarian and a great lover of Indian food I was looking forward to this. I got there around 6.30pm midweek, only 2 tables were occupied. All the staff were in the kitchen and it was a good few minutes before anyone came to greet me. The place was practically empty and yet I was told to sit in the waiting area for a good few minutes before they showed me to a table. My host, an Indian lady in a beautiful sari, asked if I was a vegetarian. I said I was, that I loved Indian food, love cooking it as well as eating it and that I had recently returned from a holiday in India. She didn't engage with me at all! The meal was ok...a bit bland. I ordered sag paneer which is described as containing green chillies, amongst other things. I didn't get the kick of chillies in that dish. Also fried mushroom rice was completely bland, absolutely no flavour and struggled to find the very few mushrooms! Naan bread was more like a paratha. It's a shame because I think everything is cooked fresh and the restaurant itself is lovely. Perhaps customers should be asked if they want their food spicy.

It was without doubt the best vegetable dhansak I have ever had. The flavours in both my dhansak and my wife's biriyani were amazing. Thank you . Sadly we are only visiting the area or this place would become a regular!

Popped in on the off chance, staying locally for one night. Didn't realise it was veggie but it was the tastiest food we've had for a long time. Attentive and friendly staff, delicious food and nice atmosphere. Even my canivorous partner thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Coming back!

Fabulous little restaurant. Wonderful friendly service. We walked in without a reservation, but were fitted in without a fuss. There is plenty to choose from on the menu, it is all cooked beautifully. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, we are not vegetarians but we didn't miss the lack of meat. Definitely worth a visit. What a lovely little restaurant. The Indian lady was very helpful recommending superbly delicious food. If you want to rink alcohol you need to buy it from the shop next door.

This nice restaurant was just across the parking lot from our hotel. We love Indian food and couldn't wait to try some. TA said Vegetarian Friendly, but I didn't read far enough. It was Vegetarian Only. I'm a confirmed carnivore, but I agreed to try it. Our hostess/server, I assumed, was one of the owners. We explained that we hadn't had many vegetarian Indian dishes. She helped us select a Daal (lentil) dish for me and a Paneer (cubed fried cheese) for Hubby. We also ordered some mushroom fried rice and garlic naan. There is also no alcohol sold, but I think you can BYO. The food was very flavorful, but I could have used more spice. Total bill with papadams, tea and water was just under 30GBP. As she promised, I didn't miss the meat in the meal. I am still a carnivore, but this was a refreshing change.

We were sceptical as we were a party of four meat eaters, but we were so pleasantly surprised by the taste of the dishes we had and did not at any time miss any meat!! The flavours were divine as was the service! I would visit more often if we lived closer, but living in Pembrokeshire it is a little difficult! What also made it was the family, and ladies in particular were front of house - the star was of course the host and owner! Thank you for a memorable evening and one we will not forget

What a gem of a restaurant! The samosas and spring roll starters were incredibly fresh. Also loved the black bean dish and paneer cheese dish baked in the clay oven.

How many stars to give?? Food is beautiful and service is so friendly - I've had a lovely take away here before and was looking forward to another one in passing on a long journey. BUT though everything about them on the web says that they close at 2300, I arrived at 2203 and had to leave empty-handed. Nothing wrong with closing at 2200, but why disappoint customers who have been looking forward to eating with you by claiming to be open til 2300??

Stopping at Holiday in Express M5 at Droitwich on way from Tyneside to a wedding in Devon. We were going to.the pub next door but saw this place next to it and thought it'd make a change. They pointed put it was a vegetarian restaurant but we decided to give it a go. What a great choice. The naan breads were the best I've ever had, and the other food was great too. I'm not a veggie, but I didn't miss the meat tonight. And the lady who runs it was so polite and friendly - what a lovely person. Well worth a visit.

We had dinner at this little restaurant on theSaturday evening - it was very good indeed; all the dishes were vegetarian but prepared to the highest level and skills.The restaurant is not licensed but management at the Mendhi are happy allow the customer to bring your own drink.

Never been to Mendi Indian restaurant and as I was staying at the Premier inn up the road, I searched for restaurants nearby and this was top of the list in the reviews.
