Superb meal and cocktails with exceptional service

Hi it’s good food taste little bit different than last time

Situated within a champagne bar, one would not except to get delicious Indian cuisine. We were a group of 11, and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. It is very reasonably priced, and I will certainly be visiting again

Absolutely first class, without any question top quality food.

I’ve always ordered from Mem Saab because of the quality and taste of the food. Mem Saab is more expensive than other takeaways but I’ve always ordered from them as I prefer to pay extra for the taste. Extremely disappointed tonight. Jalfrezi was bland and the tandoori chicken was plain. The lemon rice tasted of nothing. The onion chutney was good and that’s about the only positive I have. Meal for two cost just under £30 and I feel terribly ripped off as it was not an enjoyable meal.

The Sunday buffets were amazing back in the day but the takeaway we just received was just poor. It arrived tepid, no tomatoes in the vegetable curry , the dansak was salty no sweetness at all. The tikka Massala was blander than blandy mcblandface. A few scraps of mushroom chucked into the pilau rice for ‘mushroom rice’ . It was edible but for what was one of the premier Indians in town that just isn’t good enough by a long way.You’ve lost a few customers I’m afraid.

Best Indian place in Northampton

Great friendly service as usual. The atmosphere was lovely and food was delicious and fresh. Excellent menu. Good Covid measures in place.

I just can't praise the whole experience enough. BRILLIANT Covid set up, from hand sanitiser at entrance/exit, temperature taken, one way system. Absolutely AMAZING customer service AND food, even better value with the Eat Out To Help Out. Beautiful decor, crockery, ambience with low level indian music. Just perfect.

The food in this restaurant was once good. This is no longer the case. Had a takeaway last night. The chicken was overcooked. It is clear that the chicken pieces are precooked and then a sauce added. Not very tasty and actually gave us both dreadful wind! No longer our go to restaurant and takeaway.

Very last minute booking, we rung expecting them to say they were full but we managed to get a very last minute table.Reduced menu but still plenty of choice. Food was delicious and plentiful. Dishes were a really generous size. Would highly recommend. Value for money too on the Eat Out deal.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Great food and also felt very safe with plenty of room between tables. Enjoyable night.

After drinks at corkers we do the very short walk next door to Mem Saab were all Covid 19 rules are adhered to , we are shown to our table via the one way system and make our choices from the menu and like the previous visits the food is incredible, the spices and ingredients they use are incredible and with the nice ambiance and really nice staff makes it a lovely anniversary meal .Coming here after drinks at corkers is a great night and each time I have eaten here it has just got better ...... thank you for a great night

Quiet midweek evening meal with family. Tables spaced well as per Covid advice. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was incredibly good with exceptional flavour and great portion sizes. This is not your bog-standard Indian restaurant and serves up a range of more traditional meals which all have that home cooked feel about them. Will be coming back for many more meals from this fantastic establishment.

Despite the current Covid condition this establishment is open for business. The food was horrendous and bill even worse, leaving like I’ve just had my pants pulled down!!!!

Lovely food hot and ready on time. Best takeaway we have had on lockdown. Authentic Indian food tasted like home made.

We are visitors to Northampton and were taken here by our hosts. They live in Wellingborough and we have known them for years. We did come here about 3 years ago and the quality of the experience and the food is still absolutely excellent. The staff are attentive without it being overbearing, the food is varied and tasty but given its a buffet really fresh. Well done for keeping a good consistent standard with a smile.

we visited this lunchtime. Poor selection of tasteless dishes. Nobody was interested when we complained even when I said I will paste a bad rewiew they were no interested We had been there before and it was fine

Disapointed in this restaurant after being told it was good.. Monday evening outing with visiting relatives. A tad chilly so kept coat round my shoulders although was asked did we want to move to another table. Food a great shame, was actually the worst Indian meal I've ever had; chicken dansaak tasted thick & glupy with hard chickpeas!Simply disappointing. I want to hear Indian music when I go to an Indian restaurant not Adele even though I like her. Waste of money completely. They never even asked if we wanted dessert or tea/coffee: Rant over

Visited last night ..Monday. Was quiet as expected..the food was terrible, after complaining we were not offered coffee or dessert menu! Had heard good reviews about this place but we were very disappointed!

Went for the first time and I wasn’t overly impressed. The chicken and lamb was lacking flavour on the sizzler. The rogan josh had bland chicken in. Bhuna was too dry. The service went from one extreme to other. Firstly, constantly being asked if we were ready for things to asking for the bill and it taking ages to come despite it not being busy and having to ask 2 people for it. Won’t be returning

We went for our Diwali dinner at Mem-Saab today. Amazing food! Authentic as can be. Staff extremely friendly, professional and polite. Would highly recommend Mem-Saab to all who are looking for amazing Indian food. Thank you so much for today!

Visited with a group of friends. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Food was good and no complaints on portion sizes.

Great place for groups, especially with the champagne bar next door. Good food, simplified to English audience, don’t be afraid to ask for more authentic indian cuisine.

Really lovely evening having drinks at Corkers and then dinner at Mem Saab as a group of 4 friends. All of the staff were polite and attentive, service was quick. Lots of great choice, happy to adapt dishes and very tasty food. The wine list is very reasonably priced too. We really enjoyed our evening and felt well looked after.

Went after long day at work. Quickly seated by very friendly staff. My colleague ordered the Garlic Chilli Chicken and I was able to get an off menu Chicken Madras. Both dishes cooked to perfection and very tasty. Chicken very tender. My madras has the kick I was looking for as well. Can't recommend this place enough. Go there you won't be disappointed. And while I remember if your at a T20 game at the County Ground visit their stall there as well!

Amazing food, excellent service

My partner and I had an excellent meal here the other night. We were shown into the lounge to have a pre-dinner drink and to look over the menus. The service is impeccable, along with the food. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Really good Indian restaurant which is very well known. Not overly expensive but good value for money with excellent service and staff.

The Sunday afternoon buffet at Mem Saab is one of the most delicious and civilised places on the face of my culinary planet. We have loved, as a couple, first courting here and then over the years introducing our friends to its myriad delights. Lovely decor, live jazz, eclectic as well as traditional starters and mains and bust your belt buckle dessert table you can visit time and again, all, once again, at under £20 a head with a couple of drinks apeice. This place is fantastic!

Visited this restaurant again. We have always had superb meals, but alas, no more. Has the chef changed?

Both myself and my wife love Indian food but very rarely go to a restaurant for it usually just sticking to the normal country pub , so this made a nice change and we both looked forward to it and we wasn’t disappointed

Had a takeaway from Mem-Saab today....and although I agree nobody can beat mums home cooking, I will have to say Mem-Saab just did.....and mum loved it also ! Thank you.

Mini school reunion and we were looked after very well. Food was ok, but not as good as I’d anticipated.

Ok place. Not great for Vegetarians..

It has been a while since I visited the restaurant and we were eating early so there were not a lot of people there initially, however it livened up around 8pm with the arrival of a large group.

Beautiful food made as spicy or as mild as you like. One of the best places I've been for this cuisine. Staff are excellent and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing.

Good food and service. Restaurant is nicely decorated and spacious. Would return hence the three stars.

This is not somewhere I like dining but sadly some Friends prefer to dine here. It was downhill from the moment I was given a ripped menu. Service is excellent but the food certainly cannot live up to the reputation that this place has. Poorly spiced food that has way too much heat despite the staff reassuring me that it was medium. Naan was soggy and the best bit was the rice. For me it's never good here and I can confirm nothing has changed. Ripped menu's was a touch too far considering this place commands prices slightly higher than other restaurants.

The venue appears a bit dated (or maybe it's just go have appearance?), but not unpleasant. Food was excellent.

Excellent as usual. Great choice of food, good service, friendly helpful staff. Added bonus of live music on Sunday. Highly recommended.

Buffets are never usually very good at all, but Mem Saab have quite nice food for the buffet, and even better food on their menu.

Best place for an indian buffet around..

I was expecting better to be honest. I ordered the prawn salad and got, rocket with no dressing to speak of accompanied with plain prawns clearly just out of a bag. I did order a spicy curry as I can handle it but to be honest I could barely eat much of it, the heat took over from the enjoyment of the usual spice I am used to. Needless to say, ee have done it now and wont be going back anytime soon.

We had a meal in Mem Saab as a birthday celebration which was excellent and reasonably priced too, then went to Corkers next door. Cocktails were made by skilled bar staff and with live music which was for mature people similar to ourselves.

Good Indian food in a clean, friendly, spacious environment

I booked Mem Saab for a birthday meal for family and friends coming from outside Northamptonshire and we love the service that was provided to us and how they took the time to explain to my friends what some the menu are, they also had good selection of vegetarian dish on the the menu for my friend, we eat ourselves silly before going to the wine bar next door to dace it off, we all had a vey good evening.

Mem-Saab is a very nice and friendly Indian restaurant which looked after our group of eight and also had a good selection of vegetarian dishes for anyone who is vegetarian we had been there before and the service was also as good.

Nice ambience. Food is not very outstanding but okay..

Always good food, drink and venue, will cater for a party of people, very clean and tidy with the food exceptional. A treat for anyone that has not been before.

After a booking elsewhere I gave Mem Saab a call and they said they could have a table ready for us in 10 minites. Friendly bar staff, good food and plenty of parking round the back!

I still feel good after eating there!...The whole eating experience was worth every second. The whole place was beautifully humble and not trying to be something it wasn't but once I tried the food I realised it didn't have to...the strength of the place lies in its approach to food and the eating experience....relaxed, tasty dishes. One of Northamptonshires best kept secrets...a hidden Gem. Even with half a dozen starters and half a dozen mains on offer, nothing more was necessary...just a perfect lunch with my family. The Mem-Saab sits at the apex of Indian food. Everything was just right. Couldn't have found friendlier staff...really impressed and definitely returning to eat here. The live Jazz musician played throughout the time I spent there and even though I'm not a fan, it actually fitted nicely and added a tangible feel good factor with a definite element of 'It's Sunday lets relax'. My compliments to everyone working there collectively you made it amazing.

So, a few of us booked a table at Mem saab a week before Xmas. The menu `set menu` was obligatory, which was fair enough, but the quality of the food on the night was nowhere near what we expected. The food was served up really quickly, had assumedly not been cooked fresh, and none of us will ever go back

Had fantastic time at Mem-saab - great atmosphere at what I believe is Northampton smartest Curry House. Parking is stress free with gated large car park at the back. Staff always attentive & friendly & welcoming. Food as always very good (always can tell using fresh ingredients & quality is very good). Cocktails were a success (no surprise they have a cocktail bar next door!). Restaurant was full & so some drink service occasionally slow(hence scored 4 & not 5) but excellent small live band entertainment meant delays not greatly noticed. Overall excellent evening - friendly staff, great food, we loved the cocktails & had a great evening out (Will look to do the same next year).

Nice and clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and willing to go through the menu. The service were very good and not at all intrusive. Food was also cooked really well and tasted great! Would definitely recommend.

I went here with a party of 9, so got the compulsory service charge. It was therefore no surprise that the service was pretty poor. They got one of the starters was incorrect, so this was served after 8 the rest of the table had finished. A few times they asked for drink orders, took an order from one person then disappeared without asking the rest of the table (leaving most with empty glasses). It was also pot luck as to whether they would come back with the drinks or completely forget. Standard of food was poor to average and more than 3 times what I have paid at other Indian restaurants in town. I've been to worse places but there are much better places to go.

Sunday buffet good food good value, no soft furnishings so noisy when they were busy.

Quiet when we walked in but soon got busy, great food especially the fish curry.

The Mem Saab restaurant is conveniently located in Wellingborough Road, Northampton, adjacent to the Northants County Cricket Ground. Access is easy and so too is parking, either on the road in front, or at the rear in its own car park.

Went here in a party of 12. My meal was from the monthly specials menu and was very good. Service was a bit haphazard but we were having a good time and weren't on a schedule so it was ok. Drinks were very pricey though - a rose spritzer for instance, was £4.60.

This was our first visit. Food was excellent, great value and friendly staff. Great atmosphere, will definitely be back.

The Mem Saab is beautiful. The Food is excellent, the service is excellent, coming here is a real treat.

We had a meal here on Saturday evening and had pre booked for 8 people Our drinks did take a while to come after ordering. The popadom dips were limited and took them ages to refill,the main meals were ok but my partners chicken tikka had strange perfume taste to it which was odd. Overall ok just service as slow .

This was my third visit here in about two months and each time the food has been great. The menu is a bit different to most Indian Restaurants and the flavours are excellent. All four of us enjoyed our starters and main courses and would definitely go back. There are cheaper places to eat but you won’t get the quality.

Having traveled to Northampton for a family celebration we chose to stay in a local hotel. The hotel’s menu was terrible so we set out to find a good local restaurant. We found Mem Saab on the Wellingborough Road. The service was excellent and friendly, and the setting bright and airy. The food was outstanding. To quote my wife, ‘I feel like there is a disco on my tongue!’ The flavours were captivating and well balanced. I would go as far as to say that it was the best Indian food I have tasted in years. I wholeheartedly recommend Mem Saab to you.

Visited here last night with friends, after hearing some great reviews, but throughly underwhelmed. Food was okay, but somewhat lacking in flavour and served piping hot, nearly burned my mouth. Nan breads are nice though. Drinks are just unnecessarily overpriced. Waiters give off a cold vibe but seem polite. I would describe the experience as generally odd. Save yourself some pennies and order takeaway form your local Indian instead.

Had Indian buffet for lunch for 14.95£. Food was decent and good value for money. Service was also good. Recommended for people in search of Indian food..

Visiting from South Africa, I have always looked forward to dining at the Mem-Saab. Its Indian meals are something very special. An advantage is the ease of parking.

Been a few times, food and staff are excellent, went to the Sunday buffet for the first time and would definitely recommend, was surprised at how busy it was, but more than enough for everyone and some live music to boot!

It's been some time since we last went to the Mem saab but it was a really nice surprise. The decor is still upbeat and the service was excellent. It was interesting to see a good range of vegetarian dishes and I was particularly pleased that they could serve me a vegetarian side dish as a starter. Even for a Saturday night there was plenty of room between the tables so yiu didnt feel that you were eavesdropping on the next table's conversation. Drinks weren't overly expensive and we never felt in any rush to finish and go. The only drawback is finding somewhere to park which doesn't involve a hike.

The food is always good here although the days when they offered more adventurous fare, rabbit for starters, are long gone. It's pretty standard curry house offerings although very sexily served and there isn't a huge mark up for the above average setting.

Food was good tasty well presented. Waited a bit long in the lounge as went to booking time. Bit cold service. I expected more friendly service unlike the like menu price.
