Mehfil's in Pembrokeshire

We went as a group to celebrate my father’s birthday, he’s a regular there as the food is so good and the owner/staff are such pleasant people. The food is brilliant, arrives quickly, tastes amazing. The staff are hospitable, kind, friendly, best Indian in west Wales! Thank you again, always love to visit.

Have used this restaurant many times but took wife out for Mother’s Day treat both had king prawn dishes £14.95 each ,nice and tasty but only 3 prawns each £5 per prawn what’s going on? Was told I’ll make sure chef gives you more next time (will there be a next time?)

Last time I went was over 7 years ago and I was not very impressed. The last few times have been a treat. They do a great tandoori tahli and they gladly alter the curry sauce that comes with it . So I make mine chicken vindaloo. A great vindaloo.

Unfortunately my takeaway prawn tikka masala was so sweet as to be inedible. I couldn't taste any spices or chilli at all, just double sugar. If I had been eating in I would have sent the dish back - something I never do - but alas it was a takeaway so it just ended up in the bin. Should've gone to Tesco for a ready meal! Delisious!!! I had the chicken ceylon and oh my goodness I've never tried anything as wonderfully aromatic, fruity and tasty as this dish.

Absolutely disgusting restaurant. And if you go with your family they will try and rob you by forcing to order more curry. They have their own house rule that if you go to have a dinner for family of four you have to order Minimum four curries. They are happy for us to waste food as long as their Pocket get filled but they need to understand that rather than forcing people let them buy what they want because they are the one who is paying money and it’s their money not yours.

Went in on one night and had the best Indian I've ever had anywhere in the UK. I went in the next evening and the food was rubbish. Staff were very nice on both occasions

What a surprise! Absolutely fantastic place, really unexpected… delicious and fresh. We know a little bit about Indian food and this place really surprised us, more about the complex flavours and not covering up lack of flavour with slice which is becoming all too often in the Uk. Really really good, would stay in the area again just to eat here.

Bad service by restaurant staff. Don't spoil your day with this restaurant.

Had been here while travelling through a road trip in Wales, stopped for some comfort food which is Indian for me. The service from the start of the seating was bad to worse from the start to the end, we were treated with looks and comments when we asked for larger plates for starters, the portions were really really small for the prices and the food was satisfactory. We had ordered a veg biriyani without mushrooms, which they have with mushrooms, which they replaced it, but forgot about the veg gravy side. The worst part was the waiter didn't even give us a heads up about the portions else we could have ordered more, felt like he was waiting to get done with our table! The entire staff apart from the lady was rude, I've worked in hospitality for quite some time and this has been one of the most appalling! Asking them for water was treated with looks from the waiters! Horrible experience!

We tried the food today and the customer service(old guy who look bald)was very rude and not upto the mark.We have asked for an extra plate and the waiter was not ready to give the extra plate as if we are going to steal the plate and go home with that.

We were in Pembrokeshire on holiday & happened upon Mehfil’s whilst looking for a fish & chip shop. We decided to have an Indian instead, turned out to be the best Indian I’ve ever had and I’ve traveled far & wide. Excellent food - Excellent service - nothing was too much trouble 5* any day.

Ordered a takeaway whilst away arrived within 40 mins was piping hot the food was lovely best Indian I’ve tasted will be booking to dine in next time I’m in Pembroke . Highly recommend!

Been there couple of times each year we go on holiday had lovely food each time

We found one Indian place to dine in after a long search but it wasn't worth it . The food was sweet and blan and when I asked the waiter of the chef forgot to add salt and chilli and added sugar syrup instead the answer was this is what they do. The lamb chops I ordered were so small and lot of burnt but not cooked properly onions and lot of colourings and didn't taste nice . The kasmiri lamb curry I ordered was also sweet and the bhindi was sweet too. The rice seemed like few days old and semi fried. I wouldn't recommend waste your money and time at this place

Ordered delivery whilst on holiday in the area from these guys, food arrived on time but was missing items and the bill on delivery came in £15 more than the menu suggested (for an order for 4 people that seems too much!) Missing bits were delivered 40mins later which delayed our dinner but no explanation or solution given for over charge? This could have been slightly forgiven but The food itself was average at best, I’m sure there must be better Indian restaurants in the area.

Just had a delivery takeaway meal with my wife, the food was excellent couldn't fault it, delivered to time requested, can't wait to eat in the restaurant.

Poor service when we arrived We weren’t made to feel welcome. The chairs had the faux leather peeling, the table top was rickety and half the lights weren’t working. We were told to sit where we liked by the young girl serving, it seemed to be her first night working there as she had no idea and couldn’t even answer the phone when it rang (not her fault she’s young and probably had no training). Waiter who took our order was as miserable as sin, never smiled and could barely force himself to serve us. Had to wait ages for the drinks to arrive. The starters we had were at best poor, mine was a mixed starter which seemed to be deep fried and was as tough as old boots. The mains were as disappointing although the pilau rice was tasty. Nan breads were burnt on the base. I could go on but it was certainly the worst experience I’ve had of an Indian restaurant. Won’t be going back.

Food was good, owner was nice as we asked for a starter to share and they gave us one for free. Staff was friendly. Only thing is that the wine the waiter recommended us wasn't great and he didn't let us try it first, plus though there was plenty of space they sit us in front of the fridge.

Ordered food delivered last week, generous portions, froze what I didn't eat and finished it last night. Absolutely the best chicken vindaloo ever. I will be back.

Another one of the Bangladeshi guys running a restaurant under Indian name with very less knowledge of authentic Indian taste. This is the case almost everywhere in the UK and people dont know what they are missing.

What a revelation this place turned out to be. From such an unassuming exterior and unremarkable decor the food was exceptional. Whether it was because it was a quiet Wednesday night or not I don't know, but the owner took our party of 5 to the back room and prepared individual dishes to order, not off the menu at all. One of our party has an onion and garlic allergy and was resigned to ordering a plan 'English' dish but instead was treated to an amazing chicken curry. All 5 of us agreed this ranked amongst the best Indian restaurant food we had eaten which was no mean feat when there were 3 African Indian Asians in our group. I just wish this restaurant was in my town and not 250 miles away.

Food wasn’t edible! We were on a weekend road trip to Whales from England. After driving and seeing places all day long, we had decided to go to Indian restaurant since we were starving and didn’t want to experiment with different cuisines. We found this place online and thought it looks good so let’s go there! First thing we felt was cold, I don’t they cared about keeping the place cozy but it wasn’t a big deal since we were there for food! So as long as we get good food, we are grand! When I saw the dish I’d ordered, I was shocked to see the appearance! It was a chicken dish - but chicken was dry as hell! I barely took small bite of it and it just felt bad, so I didn’t touch a single piece, just pick vegetables and get done with my meal! Plates were unclean - I mean they did try and keep them clean but they were so old that grease went into cracks of plates which I think is nearly impossible to be cleaned! Song that they were playing were like laughing matter in the beginning but became like irritating at the end since that music didn’t get along at all with the vibe you expect when go for dinner ( I am Indian myself and I just couldn’t handle that music). Conclusion - Not recommended. I wish I had seen a review like this earlier so I could avoid spending money on inedible food.

Food was ok. Not as good as our visits in the previous four years. Service was rubbish. We sat with dirty plates and no drinks after our meal for over 20 minutes. It wasn’t busy, there was only us two and a table of three in the restaurant. Both waiters where engrossed in their mobile phones, more interested in playing chess that checking if customers wanted anything else. Won’t be going back.

We visited Pembroke for the long weekend and our date of visit is 28th August 2021 Won't even give 1 star. Where to start- Unprofessional and terrible service, uncooked food, and very rude behaviour from the owner and the waiter. Food don't taste good, and whoever visiting this place please check your bill throughly as you may be charged for items you didn't ordered. When we complained about food being uncooked they will argue that why did you ordered? And the Owner is dishonest person i have ever met, Deny and contradict everything you say. Just there to rob people of money with his terrible service and food. If you want your visit to Pembroke to be good and pleasant DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. AVOID AT ALL COST, I would prefer be starving than visiting this place. Never had such an awful experience in my whole life. Terrible, awful, rude can't find the words to describe this service. 0/5 - Service 0/5 - Food AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Absolutely livid. Ordered a delivery as first was told 90-100 minutes. We said that’s Fine. 150 mins later and having called twice and being told it will be 20 mins, then it’ll be 10 mins the food still hast arrived. £100 worth of food and we’ve waited over 2 and half hours and no one can tell me if it’s cooked, if it’s on its way or when it’ll be here.

Clearly struggling with staffing, the the person who greeted us was abrupt to the point of rude. Walked out without ordering when the table next to us said they'd been waiting over an hour and a half since ordering and still didn't have their food.

We arrived in pembrokeshire around 9 pm and were not expecting to find a nice Indian/ south asian restaurant around but as luck would have it we landed at this place. The food was way better than we expected to be honest, the aroma, the flavours and the taste all super good and authentic. Loved it. I paid my compliments to the chef 👍😋. If you are in pembrokeshire and wanna have some nice desi food, Mehfil is your one stop...! P.s. do try their Veg dopiaza 👌

Was visiting Pembrokeshire on a weekend with friends. Good North Indian cuisine restaurant with spacious seating facilities.Opens at 4:30pm. Nearby paid parking is available. Halal meat was served. You can ask them which all dishes are halal. Ordered ‘Thandoor thali’ . One thali will be good enough for 3 .Coke and drinks available. Staffs and service was good and quick. They have washroom facility. Cards accepted. Nearby kids park was der to hang out with family.

I thought the fairly short list of dishes (for Indian restaurants' standard) was a good sign so we ordered takeaway. I was wrong, the food was actually not that great, very dry chicken. We were given a free side, which was nice.

A really good little find on a wet Saturday evening. In a biggish group so tried the full range on offer. Everyone happy. NOTE - Tips when added to the bill don't go to the waiting staff.

First time for us to have food from here. Enjoyed the food, it was delicious. I was visiting Pembrokeshire for the weekend and so ordered via the phone on Friday evening and picked up as we drove through Pembroke town to the campsite. We will definitely be doing this again. A nice find.

First of all the owner didn't even acknowledge us on arrival it seemed like he didn't want any customers dining in! We were sat right by the front Door which was chaotic as people were back and forth the whole time we were in there. Our drinks were flat and tasted cheap. One of us received the wrong curry and had to wait a further ten mins for the correct one which meant our rice and sides went cold. When politely asking for a discount he was rude and dismissive saying we were taking advange of him. The atmosphere in there was awful from the moment we walked in he was speaking to server rudely and then all we could hear through our meal was him shouting in the kitchen and then customers complaining as they orders were running so behind. He was so rude and angry. Would definitely not recommend eating here. We ended up leaving angry and annoyed which is not what you want on your first holiday this year. It was also over priced and small portion. There was also no social distancing or track and trace in place with is illegal. Very disappointed.

Went here as read good reviews. We had a mixed experience. On the plus side the food tasted beautiful and fresh however there was a layer of grease on top of my husbands Balti chefs special. The person on duty was initally very welcoming and helpful but took a private call on speaker phone lasting around 10 to 15 mins for all to hear. When he asked how the food was he walked away without giving us a chance to answer.

Visiting freshwater East, We nipped in here on Friday night to see if there was a table available for 6:30-ish on the Saturday - had there not been we were going to order a takeaway for that night. Table booked - result. Returned on the Saturday and seated. Well I can only praise this place!!! Start to finish was lovely - plenty of cleaning facilities (covid 19 is still around people!!), social distancing adhered to. No complaints from here. As a table of three, we ordered poppadoms and chutney tray - always a lovely starter to an Indian. Followed by starters of chicken pakoras (my choice and happily satisfied), mixed starter and sheek kebab. All were lovely and presented beautifully. For mains we had chicken tikka massala (my choice), chicken tikka dhansak and chicken tikka korahi, spring onion rice, plain rice and chips with a garlic naan. Well on reflection I wish I hadn't had the pakoras to start as the food was GORGEOUS!! I struggled to eat all mine but thankfully they allowed to bring home in takeaway containers (supper the following evening). The staff at the restaurant are all friendly and polite and couldn't do enough for you considering how busy it was! We were advised to come earlier (on the Friday by the waitress) and were glad we did! The place was buzzing with takeaway orders, and people who had pre-booked started to arrive from 7:30 onwards so its got busier. The main man behind the business made us laugh and upon delivering our food decided to wind my mother up "king prawn curry" who's face initially was panic that the order was wrong before realising the joke. In all fairness I would highly recommend this establishment to all who have a visit to Pembroke - it's warm and friendly welcome just topped off a truly outstanding meal! Unfortunately for you, there are no photos as it was too good to not delve in straight away! I look forward to returning next summer!!

We just came back from a fantastic meal at Mehfil’s. We ordered the Ceylon chicken and it was amazing - one of the best curries I have had in ages! We also ordered the Tarka Dahl and saag paneer - all extremely tasty. The man running the restaurant was very welcoming and friendly. We had great service. Thank you again.

As the place was takeaway only due to Covid-19, we gave it a shot whilst on holiday in the area. The portions were generous and the food hot, really pretty much OK but not special in any way. Then again, there is little competition for Indian food takeaway in the area. I felt I was imposing when I went to order as the youngish guy on duty seemed pretty annoyed that I`d gone in (no-one else there) to order and he had to stop texting for a couple of moments to take my order.OK-ish, but I doubt if I`d rush back.

A little expensive, but exceptional indian cuisine to eat in or take away. Staff have always been polite, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This is my first time experiencing this Restaurant/ takeaway . I came in to order the gentlemen was extremely courteous and polite . Such a good array of dishes to choose from . I picked a selection of different starters, mains , mushroom rice and a selection of Naans . The smell of the dishes were making our mouths water on our drive home to Saundersfoot. When we got home the food was still piping hot . We must say this is the best indian food we have eaten . Each dish had subtle layers of flavour. We will be certainly ordering from here again .

Great food, great service, great decor, loved it. Popped in on a whim with a few lads the night before a fishing trip, received a friendly greeting in a pleasant environment. Food was top drawer, beer was great, bill was fine. Just looking for any excuse to go to Pembroke so I can go again.

Wouldn't even rate a one star had a table booked for 8.30 had 3 tables in, told there would be a delay on the food which I was fine with it then took 30 minutes for the waitress to take out order and drinks. Then waited another 15 mins for the drinks that never turn up, got so fed up we just left, too cramped, and it was like they were prioritizing the take away orders instead of inside,

Ahmed, Raj and team always serve up the most delicious Indian/Bangladeshi food. We’ve eaten at lots of Indian restaurants all over the UK and this place has always been consistently excellent. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Good but not great. It really should be more of an experience going out for a meal. But in light if the offerings for families in the area. Probably one the best local places around after 8pm.

Staying at my parents in Pembroke, in October 2019, we had intended to trek all the way out to a ‘Welsh curry awards’ restaurant in St. Clears for our first year wedding anniversary, but after doing some research on TripAdvisor, and almost being putting off by some particularly unpleasant reviews (which just goes to show that you need to try to count the ‘nasty’ factor when using TripAdvisor), we opted to walk to Mehfil’s, instead of driving to St. Clears.On arriving at the restaurant, we were a little dismayed to see that the restaurant was busy and all of the tables were occupied. So, we took a seat on the ‘waiting’ settee whilst the waiter/owner finished taking a telephone order. Within a couple of minutes we were happily installed at a table in the second dining room. At first our waiter was polite, informative and helpful (but also ‘guarded’, as if he wasn’t yet sure that we were reasonable, pleasant people (this attitude makes sense, having seen some of the outrageous reviews on TripAdvisor)). I and my wife were looking to try some dishes that we hadn’t had before, I like spicy (very), my wife likes mild (and biriyanis), so after some friendly advice, we had poppadoms with dips as a pre starter/aperitif, then for starter my wife took Tandoori salmon, and myself, Jhinga (prawn). For main, my wife took a chef’s special balti (with the most amazing garlic, tomato and honey naan bread, ever), I took the Lamb tikka morrisa/naga with a lemon chilli rice. As it turned out, the combination was just a bit too spicy for me, embarrassingly the waiter noticed, so he discretely brought me (free of charge), the coconut rice. This was the most wonderful, stunning combination. It worked well, in the same way as some people love spicy fajitas, but want to balance it with some soured cream. We found our dishes rich, packed with flavour yet balanced, and the portion sizes were more than plentiful. We didn’t take dessert, we didn’t have room. Key points from our visit were, amazing food, great service, an owner/waiter that was genuinely, visibly pleased that the efforts of his restaurant hadn’t gone unnoticed, and reasonably priced. We will definitely, absolutely visit at every future opportunity. Five stars on the TripAdvisor ratings, ten stars from us.

Went here last night to cut a long story short food was good waiter was awful we had just finished eating and he wanted to change the table cloth don’t know why as we were the only ones eating. Also I had ordered a pudding and as it was frozen he decided to pour boiling water on it. I did mention to one of the waitresses but she seemed embarrassed and mumbled something about him being rude probably won’t go there again unless they change the waiter or give him some lessons in customer service

Great food, rather on the spicy side but really tasty. I had the chicken aloo paneer (chicken with potato and cheese) and it was so yummy. We totally recommend it.

Would give 5 stars....the food was lovely but the mango chutney was watered down so much it was like a soup!

When we arrived, we were the only ones there and quickly shown to a table... Unfortunately we then had to wait for a menu and twice the drinks we ordered we out of stock.We quickly realised after eventually ordering, that the small restaurant was bisected by heavy take away traffic and queues. A little off putting when some were waiting in a queue for 20mins or more right next to your table.... This wouldn't be the end of the world, however the service got progressively worse, we had to wait significantly for the bill (after asking twice) and then again for a box to take away our leftovers. The food was fantastic however, fresh, fragrant and very tasty. But if we ever went there again, it would be as take away customers.
