Megna Tandoori Indian Restaurant in Runnymede

Never been disappointed in the many years going to the Megna Tandoori. The new waiters are very friendly & efficient & have settled in nicely bonding together & recognising the restaurants regular customers.

Very sorry for this review. I dont like writing reviews on small family places, however after eating here, keen to share my experience. Quality of food is very poor and overpriced. Not tasty and small portions. Pretty sure the food was nor prepared fresh, however cant confirm that. I wouldnt eat here again and discourage friends/family to do so also. Sorry Megna.

We ordered a takeaway. It has to be the worst Indian I have ever had in my life!!!! Everything was old and cold, even though my husband was waiting for over half hour to get the food it was still cold! Even the garlic bread was stale. The chicken was as beyond dry and definitely few days old. The sauce was thin with no flavour. The best part of the meal was the poppadoms.

We have used Megna in Englefield Green for several years, predominantly for take aways. I noticed there is a reference to Abdul from another testimonial written by a customer. Abdul has always been a wonderful individual, who normally delivers the food himself to our home. We will miss him!

Went to Megna Tandoori Indian restaurant last night Sunday 1st Oct with my wife. The food was as usual delicious with efficient service by friendly staff. We were saddened & shocked when Abdul the head water told us he was leaving that night. Abdul had worked at the restaurant for over six years & it wont be the same without his expert, friendly manner in which he dealt with all the customers who I'm sure will feel the same as us.

We have been coming to the Megna ever since we came to Englefield Green more than 20 years ago and it remains our favourite curry restaurant bar none - fresh cooked food and great service !

Went to Megna Tandoori Restaurant last Friday evening 18th August with my wife. Delicious food, always welcomed by management & staff, who are really efficient, helpful & friendly. This is definitely the best Indian restaurant we've been to.'

Went to Megna Tandoori Englefield Green last night Sunday 21st May with my wife for dinner. We regularly dine there & wouldn't consider another Indian restaurant in the area. Our food was delicious & as always the management & staff were efficient, friendly giving us a warm welcome on our arrival. This is by far the best Indian takeaway we have had in a very long time. Fabulous flavours and not to oily. The only down side is they don’t deliver to Staines… but it’s well worth the drive to collect. 😊

I went to Megna with my wife Wednesday evening. We had a really lovely meal & enjoyed being able to eat in there again and have a couple of Cobra beers, rather than takeaways during shutdown .All the same staff & management are there fortunately as they are so attentive & friendly. The Megna never disappoints for food or an enjoyable visit.

Thought we'd try somewhere different. Checked reviews as a guide all of which very positive however when the food arrived it was very disappointing. Four pieces of chicken in each curry, both of which tasted the same, over sweet no flavour just cream, stale poppadoms and extremely greasy onion bhaji.Will definitely not be returning.

Once I the thought of an Indian meal I had to have one, so I went to the Megna Tandoori with my wife, Wed 9th Dec evening, as there isn't a better place for a curry. Our food was delicious, the service, friendly, prompt & efficient. We dine there very often & have never been disappointed during the many years we've been going there.

Having visited Megna most Sundays for the past four years I can safely say it is my favourite restaurant!The food is always delicious and service is never anything less than sublime. The staff are all courteous and kind never ceasing to make the experience even better. I can only sing Megna’s praises and say the staff there are more like friends than waiters, always checking to see how things are good.Thumbs up and 5*s is the least this restaurant deserves!

This was my first experience at Megna Tandoori. The staff greeted us with a friendly face and food was better than expected. The service was also great; our food arrived on time and our every need was met. However, when there I, along with the rest of the customers at the restaurant, were rudely disturbed when another group of about 5 customers, who seemed like students under the influence, decided to create a scene. From what I noticed, there was a dispute over service charge which resulted in an aggressive response from the customers. Seemed pathetic from them, really. Albeit, I was pleased with the food and service that I received and am sure to return soon. Its a shame someone had to create unnecessary drama and ruin the experience for the people around.

A group of friends and I are regular visitors at Megna, because it’s the only Indian place in the area, but also their food is (generally) brilliant, and it’s relatively affordable. However, there have been two or three occasions that have caused me to question whether I’ll be returning and after this evening I’ll never be going back.The food was perfectly fine, but the service from the small, slim waiter was truly terrible — not to mention he was wearing his mask on his chin with his mouth and nose exposed. At the time I’m writing this it is law for servers in restaurants to wear masks. When we were presented with the bill, we noticed that there was an extra £8.90 added. The bill specifically stated “SERVICE CHARGE NOT INCLUDED”. We assumed, as anybody would, that this was an error, so we each totalled up what we each owed and paid it. As the last person went to pay their segment of the bill, the waiter added an extra £8.90. We let him know that when added together, the total was £89, not the £98 he’d tried to charge us. He proceeded to tell us that this was a service charge automatically added for groups above four. Not the standard, groups above six, eight or ten as is the usual case in restaurants, but groups above FOUR. This was something we would have been willing to pay if we’d been told about it when we booked the table, but we had not been told about this and it even said on the bill, “SERVICE CHARGE NOT INCLUDED”. When we pointed this out to the waiter, he told us that the reason it said this on the bill was because he had “ran out of Tipex”. Surely, something so misleading could have easily been crossed out with a pen?Instead of admitting that this was misleading and doing the decent thing of letting us pay what we owed, he insisted we pay the amount he’d written down. He continued to be obnoxious, rude, and unprofessional. He insisted we pay the service charge, despite service charge being optional in the UK. Just to reiterate, nowhere in the restaurant does it state that service charge is compulsory for groups of four or above. I then reminded the waiter that service charge is effectively a reward for good service, and given that the waiter in question refused to wear his mask correctly, I did not feel the service was even satisfactory, let alone tip-worthy. He then decided it was appropriate to tell me I should be wearing a mask, despite the fact I was seated, at the table, with food in front of me. Following this he told me he knew me and all my friends, and instructed us never to come back. My boyfriend asked for the manager, he simply said, “I am the manager”. We were quite frankly shocked that somebody this incompetent, rude, and unprofessional could possibly run a restaurant. He then stormed off, so we spoke to the kind, calm and professional (masked) owner, who apologised for the poor service — as anybody else who works in a restaurant would. We were so disappointed with how we were treated that we shall never be returning. The poor owner of the restaurant is so sweet, it’s such a shame that the manager lets the entire restaurant down.

Went to Megna restaurant last Sunday 13th with my wife & family. The food was delicious as always & served by efficient friendly waiters who have become our friends over the many years we've dined there. All precautions as possible are in place to prevent the spread of Covid 19 virus with screens between each table & hand sanitisers etc. The Megna will always be our favourite Indian restaurant

Went for a curry last night with my wife, this being the second time since they re-opened after having to close due the virus. The restaurant has been made safe as possible for their customers with plastic screening & sanitisers on every table. The food was delicious as always, & went down nicely with e bottle of house red wine which was reasonably priced. There were several regular customers like us taking advantage of the 50% mid week reduction deal The last time we went was a Saturday. so not included. .

I am a regular customer at the Megna Tandoori & have been for many years & usually have a meal there with my wife about twice a month never being disappointed. Obviously we can't go there due to the Corona virus so tried a takeaway last Saturday night 6th June which was really fresh hot & tasty, this we will do regularly until being allowed to return, hopefully soon.

I'd not been here for a while but made a reservation with a friend for a Sunday evening. The restaurant was packed. The food was really, really good! Better than the last time I visited. The Naga main dish was so fantastic. Lovely service as always. Top marks!

I used to be a regular at Megna. I came out all the way from London to have dinner at Megna. The standard of the food is unchanged. It is superb. Great taste. Great range. Well priced. The service is so friendly - making the whole experience wonderful.

Great night out with all the dads!! As always the service and the food was amazing!! Always feel special when going in here. For the amount of food and beer drank I thought the price was very good. Highly recommend this place

Went to Megna Indian restaurant last night 20th Feb with my wife. We hadn't booked, but managed to get a table before it got busy. We have been regulars for many years & have never been disappointed with the service or delicious food. This is a lovely comfortable restaurant & our favourite place to eat in the village. Megna not only attracts locals, but others from further afield who appreciate proper well prepared Indian cuisine .We wouldn't consider eating at any other Indian restaurant around.

Once again we visited Megna to celebrate a 35th birthday. Loved their Sunday special offer. Always have excellent food selection and happy with any special requests we have made. What makes Megna extra special is the staff and their excellent care of their customers. We visit regularly and have never had any complaints and would highly recommend.

Night out with friends at Wentworth led us to a evening out at Magna at Englefield. Although acquainted with Caspari restaurant we decided to try out Magna at the request of one friend. Not long into having drinks and starters we requested some chilly sauce. Having come to a Indian restaurant one would expect some variety. But the waiter with some attitude declared they did not have none. He declared he would check but said “ if I don’t find any then you won’t get none”.with attitude. So we ate with only sweet sauce. We also pondered over his behaviour. I requested if not chilly then I’m sure he could bring some pickle and mango chutney. To which he served followed by a request to order the mains when we were only starting to have our starters. Having told him to hold off he returned quickly saying the kitchen needs the order. I checked my watch and it was only 9 Pm. So we were not sure why this waiter was rushing us while others were still sitting and eating there. With his persistence we started to order. Having great experience and being very fond of Indian food I think I can say we do know our way around a Indian menu. One of my friends orders yellow tharka dall . One had said bindi Baagee One had addded chicken masala curry. Now I listen to what was said and what the waiter was writing. No further comment were made. When we asked for him to repeat our order he replied. “ only one of you talk other wise I can’t serve you” Now we are not juveniles or misfits that should not be there. But I have never in my life been served with such attitude, To which we all stood up and walked out after paying our bill. This type of attitude from a waiter at a good restaurant with good reviews is not needed. My message is solely for the management of this restaurant. This message is not for those customers that have or are willing to experience this restaurant.

Went with my wife on Wednesday evening 8th Jan. The food, service & the friendly staff were great as usual. We like many other regulars go there often because it's always an enjoyable restaurant to visit with delicious food every time & are made to feel valued customers.

Fancied curry and chose this place at random. It was a lunch choice - great menu, friendly staff and excellent food. The Lamb Dansak was (probably) the best I’ve ever had. Looking forward to returning.

When I come home to the U.K to visit my parents, we always make a point of paying a visit to Megna. The food is always consistently good and they could not be more accommodating. I highly recommend this little gem in Englefield Green.

Went to the Megna with my wife, Tuesday night 10th December for an impromptu meal. The food & service was excellent as usual, but being mid week & torrential rain the restaurant was very quiet. We are regular customers normally popping in at least twice a month & know that we will be guaranteed an enjoyable meal served by attentive friendly staff, that's why we like many others keep returning.

Went to Megna Tandoori with our two son's, their wives & grandson on Sunday evening 20th for their buffet meal, for a belated birthday get together for my wife.. The food & service was excellent as usual which we have come to expect over the many years that we have been going there. We all had different dishes which were delicious, served by friendly efficient staff. Can't recommend this restaurant enough for the quality of their food & service provided at this comfortable very clean Indian restaurant. .

We all enjoyed our food very much as always & had a very nice evening being looked after by Megna's efficient friendly staff. Megna Tandoori is our local Indian restaurant, which we normally visit once a week. Last Thursday evening my wife & I strolled down with out having reserved a table & although being quite busy we had no problem in being seated. Their food is always delicious, served by friendly efficient management & staff. The fact that so many local people we meet in there who are regular customers that keep returning like us never being disappointed, enjoying good food & atmosphere shows how hard they work to keep up these high standards.

Always love going to the Megna Tandoori for their delicious food & meeting the efficient friendly staff & management who have become our friends over the many years that we have been going there with my wife, friends & family. We dine there very regularly & have never been disappointed & would never consider going to any other Indian restaurant whilst eating locally.

I've been to many Indian cuisine restaurants in the region, or have had food delivered since moving to the UK 10+ years ago. After reviewing Trip Advisor, I thought that this could be a 'hit or miss' outing. Another thing is that given 3 children under 7 years of age, and a wife that did travel as a business for 25+ years...dining at times can be very challenging.

We have used Megna for many years eating both in & for takeaways & have never been disappointed & we needed a local restaurant to cater for my wife's birthday function all of our guests recommended Megna in front of any other local tandoori restaurant & we were not disappointed.My wife liaised with Abdul having established a consensus from some 40 guests of their preferences,we gave the order to Abdul which we considered was at a competitive price paid a deposit & the food which was excellent was delivered to our home on time the next evening. A number of our guests asked where we had purchased the delicious food & I am sure Abdul has now got many new clients.

I have been to Megna Tandoori a few times during November both going with family or with my wife We are always impressed by the lovely food & friendly efficient staff. Their menu has a great choice of tasty dishes which we never tire of trying as they are always delicious & served promptly. .

Came here for a meal with friends. One person too many to sit in the laid out seats, were told one person would have to sit separately. Some orders forgotten and the water we ordered never arrived. At end, we were given a bill with service charge included, and regardless of pointing out we had sub par service, they refused to remove it. I’ll certainly not be visiting again any time soon...

We went to the Megna Tandoori for my wife's birthday on there Sunday banquet three course meal deal & as my 5yr old grandson was with us we had to eat early about 6pm. We all tried different dishes which was enjoyed by the seven of us. The Megna is our local Indian restaurant which we go to very regularly & have never been disappointed with our food or service & any of our friends who have been there with us have all said how much they have enjoyed going there.

Fantastic takeaway. Tried many Indians around the country, and Megna is one of the best. We are vegetarian and they offer a very tasty saag paneer and chilli paneer. Only had takeaways so cannot say much about the service inside but the food is great!

One hour and 35 minutes and still no delivery - they phoned to say it was coming soon at one hour then called again at 1 1/2 hours to say it was coming ... sorry they were very busy is not good enough . Never again !

Have been to Megna a couple of times this month (Sept)) with my family as we are regulars there & wouldn't consider any other Indian restaurant because their food & service is never disappointing. I've been driving past here for years - so we had to try it. Saturday evening. Since the place looks a bit knackered, we just turned up. Mistake - it was rammed! But we were given the last table by the kitchen (which was fine). It is a tiny room and made smaller by the large number of people wanted take-away. Just a simple corridor down the middle with white cloth covered tables either side. Over-lit with crumby pictures on the walls. BUT, the food - when it arrived, was fantastic. Sizzling chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala for Mrs, plenty of poppadoms and dips and a devine special fried rice. One glass of (grim) red wine and a bottle of sparkling water, £38. Bargain. Really friendly service from all the staff. Despite the room being ordinary - we'll definitely go back.

I am a regular at the Megna Tandoori, & went there with my wife eldest son & daughter in law last Thursday evening 16th August. As we have become to expect the food was amazing as usual. The staff are really friendly & efficient with out being over attentive. We wouldn't consider going to any other Indian restaurant whilst Jamal the owner is there.

My Partner and I love this restaurant; the quality of food has consistently remained high - however I needed to knock it down a point as I'm conscious that changes for the worse may be coming.....

This was a first visit and the restaurant was chosen simply on Tripadvisor reviews. First impression were good - crisp white tableware and a warm welcome. The menu was mostly standard Indian restaurant fare, but it was very tasty and well presented. Service was attentive without being intrusive. All in all a very good evening.

I went there with my wife & eldest son last Wednesday 4th in the evening & the restaurant was nicely busy with plenty of other regular customers dining there. We were recommended to go here by a friend who said it was great. The food was average although we waited a very very long time for it. As for the service I honestly don't know how they are making money as trying to order a drink took so long as everything seemed to be too much for the waiters. We wanted to order deserts but asked 3 times for a dessert menu when we finally ordered dessert they brought out something completely different and said that's all they had. Our glasses were cleared when still half full of drink. Some of the worst Customer service I have ever experienced.

Went to the Megna Tandoori last night 29th April which is our local Indian restaurant. We were celebrating my grandson & youngest son's birthday, so we had a family day ending up there. The food was up to it's usual excellence & the service really outstanding by the friendly efficient staff & management. The restaurant do a special Sunday banquet & the price is very reasonable with plenty of choice from there usual menu. We have never been disappointed going to the Megna & have been regulars for many years & wouldn't consider eating at any other Indian restaurant whilst at home.

Popped into the Megna Tandoori with my wife last night Thursday 22nd. We hadn't reserved a table/ but are regulars there & once we had gotten it into our heads to have a curry nothing else would do. The staff & management are really great, on the ball without being over bearing.Their food is amazing, always cooked to perfection & we've never been disappointed once in the many years we have been going there on our own, or with family or friends. The restaurant deserves a 5 Star status.

Very attentive staff and probably one of the best Indian cuisine I have had. My second visit and I was pleased that they had improved the lighting and layout. Tables a little small.

Have already been to Megna Tandoorl a few times this year with friends & family never being disappointed with the food or service. The staff are efficient & attentive with out being over the top.The food is amazing with a wide selection of dishes to suit most tastes Parking is convenient with a public car park just around the corner.

This restaurant serves excellent food by excellent staff. We have used Megna for years and highly recommend it. We particularly love their Sunday buffet, great value for money.

I went to the Megna last Friday evening 15th Dec with my wife, eldest son & daughter in law. The restaurant was fully booked & very busy throughout the evening, but the service was wonderful. Jamal the restaurant owner & his staff were as usual very efficient, friendly & made sure that every one was served swiftly with total professionalism.. Our food was delicious as ever & our evening was a very enjoyable lead up to Christmas. We visit Megna regularly & wouldn't consider going to another Indian restaurant & looking forward to our next visit which will be soon, but in the mean time thank every one there & wish you all a very happy Christmas break .

I took my wife to our local Indian restaurant Megna Tandoori on Monday night, 13th November. The restaurant was fairly quiet as it was a very cold evening & early in the week. The food & service there is amazing, with nothing being too much trouble for the attentive friendly waiters & owner Jamal. We go to the Megna very regularly & have never been disappointed during the many years dining there. They have a good menu with a wide selection of food & drinks to suit most peoples taste. Looking forward to our next visit already which will be soon.

Helpful service and prompt takeaway servings at this restaurant. Well cooked and flavoursome curries with good fresh ingredients. We had Naga chicken and chicken Madras. All very good and the lime chutney with the poppadoms was something else. Recommended.

My wife & I are regulars at the Megna & get withdrawal symptoms if we go longer than a week between visits. We have been dining there for many years & have never been disappointed with the food or service. We sometimes go with my eldest son who is also a regular & knows his Indian cuisine. The owner of the restaurant Jamal & his staff are really friendly & efficient with nothing being too much trouble for them to make your visit is a very enjoyable occasion. Looking forward to our next meal there already & it's only been a few days since we were at the Megna.

Amazing service very friendly .. We have had dinner in this lovely restaurant quite few times now the food is exceptional best Indian restaurant in local area I can highly recommend.

La comida era bastante decente, sin embargo nos sirve coca-cola tan planas como un panqueque que todos pedimos para ser reemplazado. Fue hecho sin queja y la segunda ronda fue mejorado, sin embargo las bebidas eran todavía cálido y no demasiado reconfortantes. Disfrutamos de nuestras comidas, sin embargo, cuando fuimos a pagar nos indistintamente a través de la escritura ilegible cerca nos cobraron 3 Libras/4 para una coca-cola cada uno! ! ! ! ! Cuando nos trajeron el camarero a comprobar si nos habían cobrado dos veces nos dijeron que el precio general con ningún respeto por nosotros como cliente de ningún tipo. También nos cobraron por el servicio y en la decisión de no pagar el servicio debido a la locura de los precios de las bebidas fueron agredidos por el personal del restaurante y dijo no a volver.

Tuve pollo tikka Massala-jeera, naan, y papadum. Me pareció que todo estaba delicioso. El camarero parecía ser amable. Pero me pareció que el camarero un poco raro: de vez en cuando no estoy seguro si él estaba enojado por no pedir algo que sugirió. (Dado que tengo muchos amigos de india, que supongo que es. Aún así, el camino actuó muy divertido. )

Encantador restaurante con personal atento, gran variedad de menú y una buena relación calidad-precio. Hemos estado yendo allí por años y nunca nos decepciona. No viven en la zona ya pero siempre vuelvo cuando estamos de visita.

Went to the Megna Tandoori on Friday 14th April with my wife ,eldest son & daughter in law. The food was as usual exceptionally good, and the service first class by their friendly efficient staff & management. There is always a good atmosphere in the restaurant & it is very popular with the local village of Englefield Green people where like us they keep returning as you can always expect the same level of tasty well prepared food & service.

tried this one night after LEGOLAND. food was quite good but the restaurant lacked any atmosphere and was a bit clinical in its decoration ok for a quick meal

I visited this place on a Thursday evening with my family and a small number of people were seated so I was happy to get a set because it is normally busy and hard to find a seat. The food was very nice especially the Chicken Kashmir which had various spices in it that made it taste amazing. Best Asian food restaurant.
