Meat Bar in Glasgow City

Food and service was really good but I did feel it was on the expensive side when compared with competition. The restaurant was so quiet for a Saturday night and it really affected the vibe, and the overall value for money, which is a real shame.

Fantastic steak , well worth a visit

Best steakhouse in Glasgow. A smaller, better version of Miller & Carter but much cheaper. The food was absolutely unreal. The cote de boeuf, which was on the bone was absolutely delicious. Went amazing with the smoked garlic & herb sauce 🤌🏽 the roasted potato’s were superb too. Great choice of drinks, including a great cocktail menu. Food was polished off with a salted caramel cheesecake which was delightful. As good as the food was, the service was even better. Always check in on us, the staff had a great knowledge of the menu & drinks and all their recommendations were on point. Couldn’t not have hoped to a better Saturday night meal. Will be back for sure. Great location of the restaurant too with street parking near and a big Q park too.

Fantastic meal tonight, we took advantage of the 50% off steaks after 9pm! Rib Eye on the bone was delicious, we opted for the skinny fries, onion rings and Mac And Cheese as sides! Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. Music was spot on and so were the staff! Thank you all! Highly recommended!

Stumbled across this venue online whilst searching for a steak restaurant. Can’t fault this restaurant, decor is great, staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Will certainly be going back!

Came here with my husband last week after great reviews on trip advisor. Not busy so service was good and quick. Haggis bon bons were delicious. Never tried them before. We both then had steak with garlic and rosemary cubes potatoes. Very nice. Would recommend and not too expensive. When back in Glasgow would return. Wine accompaniment was the nicest (white) and husband enjoyed the red.

My wife and I normally head to a Chinese restaurant during our visits to Glasgow. On this occasion, the restaurant was closed for the Chinese New Year, and my wife suggested the Meat bar given the reviews and its location close to our hotel. We were not disappointed. A cosy, spotless, and intimate restaurant. The menu on the day and the quality of the food was top notch. Staff were attentive and friendly, and service was with a smile. Can't recommend highly enough. Definitely be back.

Can't believe the difference in this place, used to come here so often for meals and we're very excited to bring our kids before we went to see Shrek. was friendly and we thought oh good we should be in for a nice meal, felt welcomed and settled. No kids menu so asked if we could have one, got flung a folded a4 piece of paper with some 'kids' options on it, hand written or should I say scribbled - chicken goujons, burger, Mac n cheese, and steak which if I remember right was maybe around £20. Anyway, all ordered kids having chicken goujons and myself and hubby shared pickles and wings then one double dip and trailer trash! Massive portions, enough to put you off a main meal, which I wish we had been informed of. Chicken goujons were huge, very thick batter but looked good. Fried pickles same thick batter, no taste of pickles, wings undercooked and no taste of salt and chilli. Burgers arrived and both sent back after the first bite, Burger it's self was overcooked and dry. Non-edible. Cremated..had seen buns plated in the pass while we were eating our starter. Manger stated that yes the chef agreed that this was due to the quality of the meat?? So why serve the burgers if they know the quality of the meat is not up to standards. Offered a replacement but said no due to timing with show, had purchased and opened a bottle of red so thought we would quickly ask for the haggis fritters to finish off our wine, big mistake...same batter, thick and full of grease Asked for our bill, and when asked if we had enjoyed our meal we obviously stated the above, rightfully so our burgers were taken off the bill but considering we had other complaints it was very badly handled. Place was dead, no atmosphere and staff rude at the end knowing they had not given good service. For a city centre 'meat' bar the owner/manager should be very disappointed. We will not be returning, but for your business to survive I would suggest a new meat supplier, burger maker, chef and front of house!!

Tasty well seasoned steaks, great service, really friendly waitress, 100% recommended. Nice pint of local stout also.

What a fantastic restaurant, warm friendly welcome. The steak was excellent, Rib-eye medium to recommendation with rosemary sautéed potatoes and pepper corn sauce was the best I have had in a long time arrived in no time and was succulent without losing any heat. Staff are fantastic, great selection of drinks too! Highly recommend!!

The food here was fantastic. Perfectly cooked steak and the sides were also brilliant. What really stood out for me was the service however. Kelly was our server and she was just so lovely! She was so apologetic when they ran out of the starter I wanted (which wasn’t anyone’s fault of course!). Can’t wait to go back.

What a lovely place - good service, reasonable prices for the quality and amazing food…. We had ribeye steak on our visit and it was wonderful. The sides were well selected and perfect pairings with the steak. We were so happy with the place that we returned for lunch a few days later and had great burgers.

This is a gem of a place. You have to walk down to the restaurant. We were greeted warmly. The sever was excellent took time to explain everything. The food was first class. I highly recommend this place if you like steaks.

Amazingly well cooked pieces of excellent steak. Service is friendly and efficient. I tend to go for the Rib Eye, always cooked beautifully, I have to be careful not to devour it all before pouring on some of the delicious, creamy peppercorn sauce. The desert are lovely too, the cheesecake of the day never disappoints. If you fancy a decent well cooked steak I recommend here

We had a wonderful experience at MEAT. With good interaction from our server Maisie my wife and I tried the special offer and were not disappointed. All aspects were well cooked and full of flavour, the side are good particularly the onion rings. Excellent cocktails to start and finished with cold beer from the good selection available. We shall return!

Skinny fries were AMAZING. Burger has its own place in the great taste realm. DELICIOUS all around!! Deep fried pickles were great. Breading was great with the added blue cheese spread.

Amazing restaurant. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Call ahead and reserve for larger parties. The fried jalapeños were crispy and had a small kick. The ribeye special came with onion rings, potatoes, and a pepper sauce. There is a good drink menu. My go-to spot any time I'm Glasgow. A short walk from the train station. I recommend this place to everyone.

Really nice vibe in the place when you go in. The staff were very attentive as soon as we went in the door and we were shown to our table. The food was lovely, across the 4 of us we had sirloin steaks and tomahawk steaks with sides that included onion rings, triple cook chips, macncheese and peppercorn sauce. All cooked to how we ordered our steaks and the sides were lovely. We had a bottle of the Govnor red wine which we had all tried before but it was a lovely bottle of wine. Reasonably priced for a steak restaurant. Emelie our waitress was lovely, explained everything and looked after us well.

Wondered why on a Saturday night in Glasgow, when every other bar we visited was mobbed, this bar was empty. After getting 2 pints of beer and a small bottle of cider, the bill was £22.50. That explains it!!

Had high expectations of this place however we were so let down. The resteraunt was empty and cold. The food was awful, steaks were chewy and one was a fillet, how can you get a fillet wrong! The potatoes and chips were dry yet greasy! I have so many questions as to how you can get these things so wrong! There was a sad little mushroom under a tomatoe that looked like it had been sat on for 40 days, god love it! It was the size of a 50p piece, so must have been a button mushroom rolled out! It was a very poor meal and most of my steak ended up chewed up in a napkin, travelled a long way to be hugely dissatisfied and disappointed! Waitress was very nice and took the meals of the bill, waiter that brought our meal looked miserable. The tap water was delicious! So if you like a nice glass of water please go!

We used to frequent another steak restaurant for years but felt that the prices were going up and the offerings smaller and poorer quality. We've now been to Meat Bar many times and the experience has been consistently great!

This place has got it absolutely right. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, reasonable prices for deliciously prepared meat, sides and cocktails. I had ribeye on the bone medium rare and partner had t bone. One of them came with fries, both came with peppercorn sauce, we had sides of frickles and rosemary potatoes. Everything was delicious, well cooked and care and attention put into the food. The staff care about the customers and the food, it’s a winning combo.

RUN do not walk! Noticeably the best meal I have have enjoyed in quite a while! The food and service were outstanding. I ordered the bone in ribeye, Cesar Salad, mash potatoes and gravey, with a large glass of Pinot Noir.... absolute PERFECTION!!! Almost forgot the chocolate ice cream for dessert!

Exceptional food quality and amazing service. I have been living in 5 different countries in the past 10 years, tried different top tier steakhouses like the STK in Toronto, and this place as a medium priced steakhouse is simply wonderful. The price-quality ratio is very high. I ordered a T-Bone steak with Garlic Butter sauce, it tasted wonderful and the portion is huge. The lady who served me was very kind, attentive and polite, even though I was sitting at the corner. I am in Glasgow for transit. Next time I will bring my colleagues and friends to pay a visit for sure.

Came here again and got the steak special. This time it was 300g ribeye with peppercorn sauce, salad, onion rings and garlic and rosemary sauted potatoes for £36 each. Food was perfectly cooked. The service could not have been better. We had the friendliest server called Kelly. I can't recommend this place enough. My fiance and I just love it.

I was visiting Glasgow and asked my hotel to recommend a great steak place. Boy did they deliver! The Meat Bar was absolutely incredible. Great atmosphere. But I loved the steak here so much, I ended up eating here every day. Would completely recommend!

Found this place online wasn't sure what to expect, we ended up being very happy we picked this place 😊 we went as a group of 4 and all enjoyed our steak! Mine was the nicest I have had in a while! Always fantastic, really tasty steak and sides, always fresh and never chewy. We come here for steaks quite often and it never disappoints. My husband always gets the biggest steak on the menu and he always devours it. Definitely a favourite for reasonably priced food.

I went to The Meat Bar for a birthday celebration and it was great. We went on a Sunday and with booking through the website gave us 50% off of our steaks which was a bonus. There was a group of 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Between us, we had a range of steaks, burgers and sandwiches which we all thought were excellent. The staff are great and check to see that everything was okay with your meal. We will happily go back and had no problems with our visit! Recommend for those who are looking for a high quality, nice meal that isn’t too expensive.

Really good place for a steak meal. 1st time I have visited here and will definitely be back again. Blew miller and carter out the water as that was our usual haunt.

Perfectly cooked juicy and tender steaks. Delicious even without the sauce. I forgot to ask for salt and pepper because I couldn’t stop eating :3 The sides were quite oily and heavy, but the green leaves, tomato, and mushroom were a good companion to the beef. Service was very friendly.

Great experience and wonderful food! We had two steaks, one rib eye and one sirloin, and they were both wonderful. The haggis bon bins were an exceptional side, and I like the rosemary potatoes too.

Absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The food was excellent by far the best steaks we have had. All the dishes were delicious and portions were share friendly. Cocktail was divine and staff were marvellous. A great meal and a great evening out.

Nice restaurant, staff is very kind and prepared. They helped us to choose the drinks, they suggested us a Scottish beer and a Scottish cider. They are specialised on meat. I really recommend it.
