Mcturk Kebabs in Derby

Used to be the best place in Derby without a doubt. No more. Way overpriced, the quality is poor and it's really sad that this place lives on reputation. Some very questionable political opinions too, asking someone aggressively if they are Jewish? WTF? Had 100+ kebabs from here over the years, I'd rather go elsewhere

food was hot and lively. Will defo be ordering again from here. Didn’t have to wait long. Quick and easy. Laban was one of the best

Had a big order to make as thought the food was decent. Stood there being completely ignored for about 30 minutes. The place is tiny and stuffy. Finally gave up and went straight to Istanbul restaurant. Will not be coming back, non existent customer service. If not able to handle all orders, hire more staff. Very dissappointing.

Absolutely spot on. Was recommended, so decided to check it out after our concert and night out. Ordered chicken kebab, great food came in no time, fresh and tasty. Good price and great staff, even had a singing server too. What more could you ask for.

The best chicken tikka kebab I have ever had! tender meat, perfect naan, crispy salad and not too much chilli sauce. I have had kebabs from here for the last 30+ years and they are always SUPERB!! Keep it up chaps.

My McTurks (McFarts) story is never ending. I ate here in December of last year with my sister, we had different things and she was fine - I was not fine and felt awful for weeks, bearing in mind I don’t get ill. I called daily at all hours over the span of a few weeks to make a complaint and for advice. They told me call back when the manager was there the next day. My tummy was hurting so badly and I couldn’t stop farting, they laughed at me and said “you’re disgusting that sounded like a rippydippy”?? They then told me to drink water. So I’d call back the next day (and the next) while on the toilet audibly farting, and the man on the other end was so rude. He didn’t even acknowledge my pain, or my farts, and just told me to call back in a few days. This has never been resolved but I’ve recovered and I’m staying strong (I do still call them sometimes though).

Wrong food they couldn’t give a s**t payed for not interested & the 1 send was awful.. never use again.

Shish kebab was amazing! Salad fresh and Nan perfect Even the Doner meat was the best we’ve had. We will be back! (And we were sober !) lol

After some under par efforts on our recent visits to the City this was much more like the old days. Takeaway back to the hotel and still red hot and very tasty after the short walk.

Not been in my favourite Kebab shop for about 15 years since I moved out of Derbyshire,was back last night for the match so had to call,the kebab was superb and I enjoyed every mouthful,can’t wait to be back again

Seems we hit most places on our weekend break on a below usual standards time. Usually a really nice kebab here but this time just average sadly.

With the death of the long standing owner this was my first visit since then. Needing post beer sustenance before my train home I just had to give it a go. All fiber, lovely fresh bread, decent doner meat nice salad and a decent standard sauce. Staff were ok with me so surprising to see some other comments.

Awful ordered not long ago couldn’t even get my order right half my order was missing when called they were extremely rude and told me to eat it as I was willing to take it back! Never again avoid I rather have a meal deal from Tesco!

I had my very first Donner kebab from McTurks around 40 years ago and it is still the best kebab shop in Derby, well if it wasn't then I'd have gone somewhere else. Don't get me wrong, I have had kebabs from other places but...

Mcturk kebabs was the last stop on our day of drink, they haven't switched to credit card use yet, still cash only but it was worth it just had enough to purchase a kebab which was just the right size and tasty. Always a treat.

Best kebab shop around, service always brilliant. Portions are generous. Always as for the special sauce. Game changer.

Been going there for 30 years. Epic naan bread, freshly made. Hot sauce is brilliant. Shish lamb is the best. Takeaway only but benches opposite and a little garden 2 minutes away.

I had to visit Derby yesterday and as it was around lunch time popped in to Mc Turks for a Shish Donner mix. I visit around two or three times a year and am pleased to say the the standard was as good as ever....

I visited here on 31/8/19. I ordered a large doner kebab with all the salad, hot chilli and garlic sauce. The total came to £5.50. First of all its 5/5 hygiene here and right in the middle of town. The staff are so so friendly...

Saturday night kebab visit at Mcturks is normally very very good, this time the portion was reasonable but just didn't seem the same as normal, will try again next time in Derby hopefully a one-off

Mcturk Kebab is still the best Kebab shop in Derby, if you want a decent kebab as late night food, then the best place to visit is Mcturks, the large portions are large so beware, the normal size kebab is a lot, very quick service...

Several hours later after visiting pubs the last stop before a taxi home is Mcturk Kebabs, they have a new sign outside and always busy with speedy service and good size portions to take away, great late night food.

Don’t enjoy, don’t know best part was nan, tikka tasteless and boiled sat there in boiling water, nan slightly below average.

Excellent kebabs been going 30 years make special trips from leicester.can't beat it der home made sauces r delicious. Der kebabs goes all the way to Africa . Once eaten u will fall in love .

I bought a Doner kebab, tikki and chips and the food was top quality.

Was planning an a la cart but tracked this little gem out on recommendation from a perfect stranger and we were not disappointed. Omg I had forgotten how lush kebabs were!! This place is amazing, great customer service and they really know how to wrap a kebab. Don’t pass it up.

Best Kebab place in town, how they cope with all the drunks (me included) its a credit to them, great & fast service, a bit of banter and some excellent beer soaking fuel for the trip home, well worth a kebab stop. At there are always taxis nearby, result.

Well worth making a special visit to Derby for this one. Great food near to city centre and bus station. Ideal for take aways.

Last time I was in here I was working for the council opposite in the early 1980s! Many moves since I got the chance to return and was not disappointed. Only the prices had changed lol! Excellent kebab.

Mc Turks are a long established kebab house. They also do burgers, curries etc I have been eating kebabs for over forty years throughout Derbyshire and beyond. I believe Mc Turks to be the best and most consistent I have had anywhere. Every Kebab comes with a freshly cooked Nan at no extra cost and is always excellent. The prices are cheaper than most other Kebab shops and the quality is second to no none. keep up the good work. Mac.

Working away and decided to try this place after a few shandy's. What can i say. The doner meat is one of the best i have had. The guy behind the counter "pops" i think people called him is a really great guy. Go try it out.

The quality of shish kebabs in the UK has gone up a lot in the last few years, but this is still the best I know due to the excellent naan bread it comes wrapped in. The hot chilli sauce is just the right strength for me too being powerful.

I have been a regular at Mc Turks from day one of them opening. I have seen alot of changes over the yrs from how Mc Turks looked from when it first opened. I have seen alot of changes in Derby over the last 30 odd yrs but one thing that does not change is the Quality of Mc Turks kebabs. The same family who run it are the same family who started the Buisseness all those yrs ago. 30 odd yrs is a long time and long may this little gem of Derby continue. Mr Hussain had a vision. Me and my girlfriend popped in here as we had a long time to wait for a bus, we had a mcturks special kabab between us, it was more than enough to fill us, and the meat was extremely niceOne of the best naans i have had in alot of years, and easily one one the best kababs i have ever tasted.Only downside is, that if my girlfriend didn't know it was there, i would have easily missed it

I called in last week and ordered a large donna with mint and chilli and salad and a small donna with mint and salad, however when i got home i had a large donna with just chilli and cabbage and a small donna with no sauce and cabbage. I have used mcturks for over 30 years now but will not be using them again i will use the kebab house next door to them. If they run out of mint sauce they should tell you not just serve the kebab without it they just want your money same with the salad.

prices have shot up, portions have shot down, attitude has just got terrible, its like they have done so well for so long that they just dont care about the customer anymore and now have a take it or leave it attitude, got to big for their boots, they used to be amazing with great banter but now they just seem to want to take your money throw your food and drink at you and get you out as quick a possible, shame really because i used to love this place but bad attitude make the food taste bad to

Upon entering the place I was greeted with a rude welcome which I thought was harsh as id not even ordered yet. Stine cold sober as I don't drink I felt like I was putting him out by being there. After ordering I ws rudely thrown my change and a glare was met by one from myself. I shan't be going again and will be telling mu co workers at RR not to either.

Ordered 2 x Large Donner Kebabs, they were served in a very nice, fresh naan bread, the meat was tender and tasty and the salad crisp and fresh.I can definitely recommend this kebab house for quality and value for money.

Visited on a Sunday night for a kebab. We were pleasantly surprised that the hygiene rating was 5 out-of 5 excellent, which is good because many kebab places in Derby town are not.We ordered the McTurk special which is donner, chicken tikka and shish mix with garlic mayo. Also we ordered a garlic and cheese naan.The naan was absolutely delicious and fresh however we couldn't really taste the garlic. The kebab was okay, tasty but a bit dry because they put hardly any sauce on. For £10 you can't really complain.Good friendly service and good prices.

I have visited mcturks several times over the years and the quality of the meat has definitely dropped.Last chicken tika , shish kebab i had the chicken was very dry and also had bits of bone in it !! The shish was chewy and dry

Order the large chicken kebab. Not only is it huge - but it saves you money too..cos you won't have to buy any breakfast.This bad boy lasts ya two whole meals. Great food, service and great customers.

Used to love this place but my last visit left me feeling queezy and put an end to my night out. I was up on the night gagging for a drink. The kebab seemed very tasty but I know now that was due to the high salt content. Very disappointed.

After a good night out and waiting for the bus home from the Moreledge this is a fine place to get a salad kebab for just a couple of quid. Massive and tasty and you can make believe that something you've consumed that night was healthy :-) Highly recommended.

the place was conveniently right in front of the hotel i stayed..so coming back from a pretty long day, i ordered for myself a kebab set on a plate & another set in a naan. WHAT A MISTAKE as the amount of meat was HUUUUGEEEEE and it was SO SO GOOD that I actually finished the whole thing! i didn't have a good sleep that night...i don't blame mcturk one bit hahaha

The owners are quite proud of the fact that they have been trading for over 30 years. You don't last that long unless you are good and as far as Kebabs go, these are the best in Derby by far. They tasted great and were very reasonably priced. The service was good too.

Haven't been here since University days but these guys are brilliant.The secret is in the sauce that they pour into the kebabs - it's a bit like a chilli sauce but thinner and tastier. The meat and nana are also spot on of course.Will be back soon!!

I have been going to McTurk's for more years than I care to remember.It is THE place in Derby City Centre to go for a kebab. Naans cooked fresh and generous helpings. Great value too.

Called in late on Saturday night on way home from the airport. Had Chicken tikka / Shish kebab on a naan bread. It really was very good. The naan was very fresh, light and fluffy in the middle but just nicely crispy around the edges. Both the chicken and the lamb were hot, juicy, tender and very tasty. We only meant to eat a bit to satisfy the nibbly reflex and ended up polishing off the lot.

This place has been going 30 odd years. Food quality is consistently good and is always busy late night. Friendly staff and fairly priced. For kebabs in Derby it's as good as it gets!

Just visited McTurks on the recommendation of a local and I've got to say the doner kebab was fantastic. Great value (£3.50) - lovely warm bread and tasty meat that wasn't at all greasy. I'm here for the weekend and will be back tomorrow!

Mc Turks kebab is the oldest and best kebab house to visit. Admittedly we always go after a night out and are slightly inebriated but we do always go after a night out in derby so it must be good.

Simply the best kebabs in derby.,... and I would suggest for many a mile outside derby as well. I would especially recommend the shish tikka mix, tastes awesome and fantastic value

Cheap food after a night out but sometimes they try and serve you whats in their counter and not what you have ordered. Be careful. However the food is always ok.

If you want the best Kebab in Derby go to McTurks but make sure you dont go off peak as the quality drops. McTurks Kebabs are renowned as the best in Derby situated opposite the main courts they have been part of my life for years usually at the end of a good night out ive even woken up in bed with one (which i microwaved and eat and it was still brill). the only disappointment i had was when i visited out of normal clubbing hours and the meat was well past done and the nan was not eatable apart from that episode McTurks is brilliant.

Mc Turks used to be my regular takeaway when I lived in Derby some years back.It consistently delivers great doner and shish kebabs (they aren't really famed for their sheesh kebabs, the ones made with lamb mince).Great chilli sauce that is cooked in house, tastes almost like a curry base. Open long hours and very pleasant people to deal with.Only let down is there is no where to sit!

Best ever kebab in Derby ive been a customer at McTurks for years infact from when they first started up and their kababs are brilliant i dont know what they do to make them different from any others but they taste brilliant. many years of fat stains on my trousers while walking up Drewry lane back home and waking up with a McTurks next to me happy days you aint had a kebab until you get obne from McTurks.

I really like the kebabs they prepare as they are unique from those made by other takeaways.They have a different taste which i like and the naans are also very moist which is nice; unlike other takeaways who make fairly dry and crisp naans.

got the kebab it was cold told them to put plenty of hot chilli on the kebab and they only put a bit on it , was good but now crap

McTurks do the best kebabs in derby i and everyone i know always use McTurks when we are in town for a night out the only problem is they dont have a delivery service.

I could not believe there was not a review for McTurks, which ends now. These guys have been on duty for well over thirty years, serving the best kebabs in the city, hands down. I first went here when I was a wee lad in the middle 80`s, and have been a regular and loyal customer ever since. They have the best food around, and some very hot chilli sauce. Open all kinds of crazy hours, feeding the hungry revellers of Derby. Much respect to these guys, always friendly despite your condition! Just ask for pitta, if your old school.
