Had a lovely time here in the evening. The atmosphere was beautiful. The square was lit up nicely. The staff working, not running around but really working hard, leading to the feeling of a relaxed atmosphere. The service was brilliant. Waiters were at your hand which was pure bliss. The owner is a great guy, he came around and asked if everything was ok, made us feel so welcomed. The food is beautifully seasoned. Was my first time there and it sure won’t be the last. Thank you.

Due to TA's restrictive rating, four stars a little tight, five would have been OTT.No real negatives beyond maybe the place could do with a bit of attention to the decor. However, we were there for the food and that was yummy. My wife and I shared the starter combo and all the items were very good. A couple of glasses of Lebanese wine were little bombs of fruity flavour and well worth trying. My wife had a veg stew, which was good but didn't send her raving. I had a slow cooked lamb dish with a rice pilaf accompaniment which was nothing short of superb! Good and friendly service with a couple of good stong cups of coffee and as I was being treated, the bill did not seem to raise eyebrows.Good little place if you are in the area and based on our experience, recommended.

I wish I had taken a photo but will next time.It was the tastiest meal I have had for a long time.Cooked fresh, the sizeable Chicken pieces were chargrilled in a very light garlic sauce and served in a warm pitta with salad and pickles. I opted for the side salad instead of fries (although I am told the fries are crisp and tasty). The salad was delicious! I have no idea what the dressing is but the food was so good that 5 of us are now going for our Christmas lunch there. Just delicious and at £6.99, I thought that was great value.

One can't help feeling that this is a bit of a hipster hang out, it is afterall Battersea, just a bridge walk from Chelsea and on a main thoroughfare. The restaurant has plenty of seating indoor and out. If the whether is good the place is absolutely a hive of activity all hours. When we dined it was quiet, a brisk autumnal evening not too early, not too late. The service was good albeit a little slow and the food that was delivered was very tasty and well presented. For an entree though, the mixed grill was tasty enough but not great value comprising a shish taouk, a lahem meshwi & a kafta meshwi but only four pieces of meat in each of the meshwi - a bit stingy for £12.99. For some strange reason the rice never showed up either. The mezze were as good as you will find anywhere and I particularly liked the hummus. Best dish? Kalawi Ghanam - Lamb kidney with lemon juice - awesome!

my friends and I just finished a ballet exam and needed to eat. We decided this place as the prices weren't too much. We sat down and the waiter was very rude. He looked bored, and not bothered at all. We ordered our food straight away. We waited 20 mins for our drink to arrive, then two couples walked in, their orders were taken. 30 mins later we still received no food, then we saw the waiter carry out some food and I was relieved (was starving) but the food was not ours?! He took it to the couple outside... I was not happy about this at all. I didn't say anything as my friends weren't too fussed. Then the waiter again came from the kitchen with more food, I thought to myself oh my god finally!! We need to catch a train soon! But again the food was not for us... I was so angry. Finally after 1 hour and like 30 mins our food arrived and to top it off? Half of it was cold. Overlooked and dry. The chicken was big and looked okay, until I ate it. Was dry and awful. Then we asked for the bill, the cheek, they overcharged us by adding extra food into our bill, lucky we were paying for our own things and noticed that they added two extra items on our bill. And then when we told him he didn't understand... Then after 10 mins of explaining he understood, and changed it, (took his time). By the time we left we had missed the train and had to take a later one that was also a longer train. If I ever do my ballet exam again? I will not eat here.

I tried out Mazar restaurant almost a year ago and quickly turned into a regular. Aside from the nice convenient location, it has done a great job catering to my vegetarian needs and love of Middle Eastern food, as the menu is quite diverse and rich with options – favourites of mine range from starters such as grilled Halloumi cheese, Batata Harra, Sambousek Cheese to main courses like the moussakka (which is amazing). When in a hurry, a take-away wrap will usually be my go-to option. The staff are friendly and helpful – I’m actually surprised by some of the bad reviews on here, as my experience (at least so far!) has been highly positive. A group of 10-12 of us pre-ordered lunch at Mazar for a working lunch. The order was supplied to them over the phone well in advance, supplying exact order for each person. When the food arrived, half the orders were wrong. The waiter had a bad attitude and was rude when we politely pointed out the orders that were wrong. My food was terrible (mixed grill) and consisted of a few pieces of overcooked meat, flat bread and loads of onion - that's it. After the meal the manager came to our table and proceeded to shout at us about our order, insisting that we can not pre-order over the phone as one of his staff always gets the orders wrong. How is that the customers fault if his staff are incompetent and get the orders wrong? He insisted that one of us should go into the restaurant the day before to place the order - how ridiculous. He was rude and completely unreasonable, his staff are rude and incompetent, and the food is average at best. Avoid completely!

I took my father here for lunch today and I can honestly say it’s the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. We pre booked our table and there couldn't have been more than 5 other sittings present, even though it wasn't busy I still had to go to the bar twice just to get the food ordered, by a less than friendly waiter. We had calamari to start, which took 1 HOUR to get to us, it was awful and obviously cooked from frozen. When the main eventually came out it was inedible; I had mussels which without exaggeration tasted foul, this was served with undercooked cheap fries that arrived ten minutes after my main arrived. My father had a mixed grill which was tough and tasteless. All of the portions were small. They knocked £6 off our bill even though I didn’t eat my £12.95 main. I am actually angered by my experience and would expect higher standards from a restaurant in Battersea Square. I would strongly suggest not to go here, you may as well throw your money down the drain.

An enjoyable experience!! A good choice of food, well prepared, nice wines, and an amiable owner. Instead of having the normal starters, main - try mixing it all so that you get a load of starters as a main. Very nice.

I came to eat here last winter and I must say I am impressed! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming with soft lighting and it's a nice place to warm up from the cold. It's in a beautiful location so I always indulged in looking out the window (at the charmingly crooked tree outside as it was around Christmas) while having my meal. There are some regular customers who are always fun to chat with so it's never boring here. The staff were helpful and attentive and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. The owner is also so friendly and it's a pleasure to have his company if you ever catch him.The most important part, though: The food! Everything was quality and delicious and I cannot recommend the food enough. The hummus has such a balanced taste and it's perfect to have with some pita bread throughout a meal. You can not go wrong with their wraps, I promise. The meats are cooked with an amazing combination of spices. There are even many tasy vegetarian options. My personal favorite is one of their hot starters Batata Hara, which is by far the best I've had anywhere (and I've had quite a bit). It's safe to say I will be coming back here when I'm next in London and, trust me, until then I'll be dreaming of the food.

There is some really terrific Lebanese food available in London (from places like the Comptoir Libanais), but you won't find any here. This is a truly third rate Lebanese restaurant, with uninspired preparation and presentation of classic Lebanese dishes that most chefs could prepare with their eyes shut. The restaurant is in a prime position on Battersea Square that it totally fails to take advantage of. The proprietor needs to fire the chef, go and eat at Comptoir Libanais for a week and re-thing his entire operation. There is usually hardly anyone there, so you would think this might already be obvious to him that something is seriously wrong with his restaurant, and it may only be matter of time before there is space available for a fresh inspired new establishment to take over this bustling square.

Service really slow (1hour to get starters) White wine undrinkable. Food is hugely overpriced for the quality. And to top it all off, service charge was sneaked on to the bill, unmarked. When we asked what the charge was the waiter told us it was a "mandatory charge that all the restaurants around here add on to their bills" and that we had to pay it even after we asked him to remove it from the bill. Borderline breaking the law? Take our advice and avoid.

My brother and I had a wonderfully leisurely supper talking to the owner and eating delicious meze dishes, lamb and chicken main courses and wonderful mint tea. The food was plentiful, fresh and, as always, wonderfully tasty. I have not been her since I brought my son in the summer. The standards here are high and they have some amazing Lebanese wines. The other good thing is you can sit outside and order a shisha pipe if that is what you want. Apple shisha and mint tea. While we were there we talked and laughed while enjoying the atmosphere and the humous and felafel. Everything here is authentic and well-made. I told Anton about my new book Remember the Fifth of November, and how it came about We all know the story of Guy Fawkes who wanted to blow up parliament. What did he wish to gain; the very people who were going to replace James were present? How did he think he would get away with it? It does not make sense unless it was a story. Now, finally, you can read about the real plot, the plot to destroy the Catholic nobility hatched by Robert Cecil, Earl of Salisbury. Behind the scenes, he manipulated the cast in his play. Catesby, the supposed ringleader, had embraced Anglicanism, bringing his children up in the Anglican faith, yet he is portrayed as the zealous leader of the plot. Guy Fawkes was simply a night-watchman guarding barrels. James I feared being stabbed or blown up; Cecil ran an efficient spy network; and he was able to play on James's fears. Read the true story that relies on facts. For far too long we have meekly accepted the propaganda of the age and ignored the flimsiness of those contrived coincidences that gave Cecil's outrageous plot credence.I would say, the ideal evening, would be to have my book to read when you got home but in the meantime sample the delights of the marvellous Mazar to get your strength up to deal with the machinations of the Machiavellian Robert Cecil. Bon appetite and good reading!

the kind proprietor and his friendly staff help you extensively through the menu describing all foodstuff. Food is brought to your table and put in a nice array while the staff explains all contents, whch may look like Spanish tapas. The prices are good value for your money and the lowest in this area of London. This goes for your supper, which can be enjoyed till after 11PM. In the morning breakfast can be enjoyed either continental or English where the tea is good but the coffee excellent. With fine weather the terrace is open and you'll find a place for sure as there are a lot of tables for you to choose from. Service is swift friendly and to the point. All in all the place to get fed while on a budget . . .

Like a previous reviewer, I'd seen this place many times. We happened to stop in today for a late lunch, and we sat outside, one of three occupied tables in the entire establishment. Our order was taken by an incredibly rude sourpuss of a man after we had waited 10 minutes for him to stop looking at his phone. The food itself (chicken taouk and chicken kofta wraps) was borderline disgusting. We will never go back. I so wish we had read reviews before going!

We have been here many times over the years. Less so now, as frankly the food is not very good anymore. I like the Battersea Square location though, so sometimes it seems a good idea -though why don't they place a border along the kerb? Sometimes the traffic is deafening. Food seems to be coming in smaller and smaller portions, and not much is very good. Ten years ago the prawns and rice here was delicious, now it is pretty bland and too expensive anyway. Shame.

My husband & myself had seen this place many times as we'd passed through and a couple of days ago decided to stop and have lunch in the sunshine. We wished we hadn't bothered. We ordered a couple of soft drinks from a very unwelcoming waiter. They came and we ordered a chicken baguette & fries and a hummas & salad wrap. We waited over half an hour for the food and it really wasn't worth the wait. Very pricey and very bland food, won't be going there again.

I had to rate this 1 star to write a review but i would give it Zero if i could. Went for a couple beers and some food on a sunday evening - i ordered the starter platter for 1 (around 13 pounds) as i wanted to try a selection of their food. The dish was absolutely terrible; a couple dollops of hummus and yoghurt, some old stale lettuce and a selection of dull tasting, poorly cooked lebanese food. My friend ordered a chicken dish and it was unbelievably dry. You can get better quality food at a kebab house at 3am in the morning. Service was very slow. After telling the waitress that we weren't happy with the food she argued with us and then put an unmarked service charge on the bill. Her attitude was appalling We will NOT be going back here ever again and urge you to do the same.

Having usually only driven through Battersea Square I was glad to try one of the restaurants I have usually just stared at when the lights were red!Lebanese is one of my favourite dishes and there were aspects of the meal that didn't disappoint. With lentil soup to start in somewhat small bowls but spicy and tasty...after several large soup spoons I eagerly anticipated the main course of mixed kebab. The meat although to be honest could have been more, was succulent and chargrilled. But for me the most enjoyable dish was the Lebanese salad, really tasty with a light spicy dressing. I would say it is a little expensive at £58 for 2 with a bottle of Perrier (v 1980's :-) especially as I would like to have seen a little larger portions.. Monday night is never going to be the busiest but there was only another couple dining (well smoking on the Hubba bubba pipe) so atmosphere limited. Tip - save 70p for a pack of mints as the garlic sauce is super fragrant!!

Mazar is located at Battersea Square which is hidden in Battersea area just across Chelsea and it is easy to overlook along with other restaurants. We stopped by for a nibble after walk along the Thames and enjoyed bits of sun shines outside. Good place for lazy afternoon checking the traffic.

The helpful waiter will try to convince you to order whatever he wants. Still, he charged us later way more than what we ordered. After some uncomfortable discussion about the "misunderstanding" he removed the extra charges but of course, not the service charge. Quite a dissapointment. Food was just ok. I must say, I won't come back.

Went to the square last night. Looked at the Mazar menu - looked good. Asked owner if the meat was Halal, he confirmed it was and I said in that case 'No thank you'. He then became very aggresive and said he was a Muslim and he would serve what he liked! I dislike the Halal process, I am not a tree-hugging liberal but I believe it to be a very cruel process.Rickshaw Indian in the Square is also Halal, but at least they put that on the menu.NB had to give it a one (to go thru Tripadvisor process), altho did not eat there.....

Have been here many times. The reason is the great food and the lovely outdoor area. What really lets it down is the service. For the last several times we have visited the time it takes the food to arrive has been excessive. 30 mins for a cold salad, 40 mins for a portion of chips. Having raised it with the manager 3 times there are numerous excuses. All tables were clearly experiencing similar challenges. Orders were wrong or incomplete. It's a shame since the food is great. The fact that a tip is automatically added to the bill is salt in the wounds.

Used to live locally in Oyster Wharf and would often take a lazy stroll down to Mazar on weekends for a cooked breakfast. They serve full english breakfasts, omelettes and lebanese breakfasts. Really tasty and on a sunny day you can't beat sitting in the square.
