Supurb food, lovely staff, highly recommended.

Dishonest service! We didn’t enjoy our experience at all. We waited 40mins, the waiter refused to admit that he forgot to write down our order. He was lying and saying that he wrote down that our starter and main coming together which we didn’t ask and our food didn’t come together in the end anyway. Very dishonest service. Felt like he was trying to pretend nothing happened, didn’t say sorry for our 40mins wait at all. The food was average, never had pad Thai in ketchup sauce.

Ate here today and can't wait to return. Stunning tasting food, great service and well priced. Street food at its absolute best. Absolutely delicious. Best Thai food I've had.

Disappointing lunch today. Sauce tasted like it wasn’t freshly prepared and perhaps straight out of a bottle. A bit like ketchup to be honest. Lovely staff though.

The waitress who looked after us was great. Asked all the right questions and knew the menu well. Only had a few small dishes but they were all nice and fresh and fragrant. Noodle Soup was particularly good 🥢

I visit this gem of a place every time I go to Shrewsbury. The food is super fresh and tasty. I had the monkfish panang this time which was phenomenal 😋 It’s advisable to book as it gets very busy. Really can’t recommend this place enough 😍

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming family-run restaurant, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. Every dish we tried was incredibly fresh and bursting with delicious flavours. It's hands down the best Thai restaurant in Shrewsbury. My only small disappointment was the inability to make reservations, as it can be quite challenging to secure a table due to its popularity.

highlights: Spicy fried rice (chicken) was amazing. It was pleasantly spicy (not recommended for those with low spice tolerance). Good portion sizes. Not too little, but not too much of an overwhelmingly large portion either. "Goldilocks perfect" Upon asking, they gave two extra little plates so that we could share food. Could be better: The pad thai is served with a small amount of fresh veg, but i think it could be fried with more veg (personal preference). It had a bit of rather sweet sauce, which was different to what I had anticipated. However, it is good for the price (£7.50). It would be nice if House of Yum could expand their kitchen to accommodate for their popularity/demand. To note: Very popular restaurant in the market hall, so you will need to book a seat. We went at 12:30pm (during the empty mid-Christmas-new-year's time), but had to come back for a table for 2 reserved at 1:30pm. The service is also a little slow, because it is popular, so bring something you can enjoy doing whilst waiting (eg card game, or a fun conversation topic). 2 people (with tap water): £18

Absolutely Yum, yum yummy!! Had scallops to start, which were just ok but the monkfish panang was out of this world amazing!!! Service very good and great value for money. Definitely coming back.

This cafe is situated in the excellent Shrewsbury market hall. It specialises in excellent Thai Street food. We had an assortment of starters and main courses, which are very reasonably priced. The food and service if excellent. I would recommend booking as it is very popular. A great lunch experience.

Wow, wow and more wow. What a great little find this place was, we have recently moved to the area and in just a couple of weeks we have been here twice already. The food is fantastic and amazing value. It’s bursting with flavour and just the right amount of spice. I’ve got to say the green Thai curry was the best I’ve ever had in the UK! The service is brilliant too, all the staff are happy and friendly. We will be back many times very soon.

This has easily become my favourite lunchtime spot. For ages I was put off by how close some of the tables were or thought it was too close to people walking by. But I really wish I had taken the plunge sooner! It's honestly very comfortable once you are seated The food is breathtaking, the punchy, spicy flavours are amazing and yet the cost is very modest. Two people can lunch here with a couple of beers for £25. You won't get better value for the quality anywhere else in town. The only drawback is the opening times, tied to the often inexplicable opening times of the market hall itself If you can make the time, try it out. Guaranteed not to be disappointed

So, reading what people say I was quite looking forward to eating here.. however So for one I don’t mind sharing a big table but when there was other tables available we had someone put at the end of our 6 seater table (party of 3) Starters came and we decided on grilled Scollops and chicken satay. 4 TINY pieces of scollops drizzled in sweet chilli sauce is not £6.95 in value and the chicken satay sticks resembled a packet portion that where chewy and tough Mains. Tasteless spicy rice that was basically rice and chicken blasted with spice and some frilly salad, chilli and Basil with beef that had tough beef and again small portion and rather disappointing. Prices, at an average of £10 a main and £7 a starter plus you would expect more. More flavour more portion and at least your own table Service, slow… the gentleman who sat at the of our table got his meal before we got our starters and even they came 5 mins apart. And the table that came AFTER us behind us also received their meals before us. In review I must of caught this place on a bad day. Really bad day and I was deducted ONE mains for answering the question “was everything ok” honestly but quite frankly I resented paying the “cash only” bill even with the discount Photos do not show flavour however I’m sure you will agree the portion size comments on the Scollops

We visited the House of Yum during one of the evening opening events at Shrewsbury Market. There was a large queue for tables, but we only had to wait about 15 minutes. My wife and I shared 3 starters. These included chicken satay skewers, spring rolls and scallops. This was followed by a Thai chicken red curry and Thai duck yellow curry. All the food was delicious, we can’t believe we haven’t visited before. We are already planning a lunch date.

Amazing quality food, the service was incredible, and was so amazing, this restaurant was the best ever.

The food was exquisite... and the service was super speedy. The dishes were all set out immaculately and were above and beyond what I expected. Perfect menu with great variety. Atmosphere was a fantastic part. This restaurant has completely changed my perspective of high-end, yet well-priced cuisine. I am very grateful to Nathan for recommending this experience of unique excellence.

We thought our first visit was good but this time it was exceptional. The food is so good with a range of flavours coming through. The service is very good. £18 for two including drinks you cannot complain.

We ordered pad thai, masaman with beef, fish panang and beef chili basil stir fry. Our orders took a long time to be served, and apart from the fish panang and pad thai, there were a few pieces of beef in the other two dishes....

Visited today with a group of friends on a recommendation, and did not disappoint. Food was lovely and fresh, piping hot and so tasty. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend, you won’t be disappointed

Really nice Thai. We had the pad thai, beef in oyster sauce and satays (lovely peanut sauce, would have happily had a big bowl of just that and rice). Obviously popular as the staff all seemed really busy, be warned cash only (we had to cut down on what we ordered as didn't have enough cash to really go nuts).

Best Thai meal I have had in a very long time. It's a small place in the indoor market but I would highly recommend it. It's much better than any other Thai restaurant that I've been too. Very shocked at how tasty the meal was and at how quick the meal was ready. The service was fantastic. Very friendly staff. Really impressed and will definitely return the next time I am in Shrewsbury town centre.

First visit to the House of Yum. Excellent, vibrant and very tasty Thai food at a very reasonable price. I had the Spring rolls & grilled scallops to start, followed by the Monkfish Penang. No downsides.

Came across this place by chance while looking round Shrewsbury Market. Which is a great market, despite the unpromising outside appearance. There are quite a few interesting looking places to eat in the market but so pleased we chose to eat here. We shared a plate of grilled prawns to start, which were delicious. Then I had the Duck Red Curry. Lovely. We ate in some good places while we were on Shrewsbury, but this small marketplace food stall was my favourite. Good value too and very efficient service from super friendly staff. I will actually visit Shrewsbury again just to try something else off the menu here.

Inspired by this very website's ratings, they were proven spot on. A market stall certainly seems akin to street food, and if so, this is the best street food I've had since Falafel in Luxor nearly 20 years ago, when it was lunch every day...

Friendly, quirky place to eat completely fresh and delicious Thai food! The massaman curry is yummy, the pad thai mouthwatering and the scallops always cooked to perfection. The House of Yum is well known in Shrewsbury but not on everyone's radar. Well, it should be! Classy Thai food in a 'street food' style area of the Market Hall. The food today was absolutely top notch. I am a big fan of Asian food but rarely eat Thai at home and am not familiar with restaurant Thai food in England so much. The House of Yum good is simply as good, if not better, than dishes I have enjoyed around the world. Go there! Huge thanks to the wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable staff who work there. Delicious & authentic Thai food served by lovely, friendly staff! Since lockdown has stopped us from sitting in the lovely Market Hall we have been taking out favourite Thai to the Quarry and it's been the perfect picnic food, with recyclable cutlery too! We just wish they were open on an evening so we could get them on Deliveroo!

Collected a 50th birthday meal order for 6 people, starters and mains, which we re-heated later that evening. It was absolutely delicious. Pad Thai, Red Curry, Vegetable Stir Fry and much more... we even had enough for the next day. Photo does not do it...

To have to queue for a seat is not normally on my agenda but the 20 minutes wait for lunch was well worth it. Authentic Thai street food housed in a small area within the busy Market Hall brought back happy memories of long ago....

Popped into the market forLunch and decided to eat here. Very friendly staff with great knowledge of the dishes to recommend. I opted for beef noodles and Mrs Lard went for beef in oyster sauce and rice. Simple gorgeous food giving a taste of Thai street food. Will be returning here for sure.

Excellent Thai Food. Been many times and always had a wonderful meal.

The food was quite nice but completely ruined by having to wait over an hour after we had ordered for our food to arrive. This was also after having to wait half an hour for a table. When we complained about having to wait so long for our food, we were told by the manager we should have expected that. We were given no warning that would be the case and not a single apology was given by the manager at any point. I hope this review will let others take into consideration the hour wait for food before going here as you won't be told before ordering.

We found the Market Hall while wandering. It’s lovely. And the smells of Thai Food from the House of Yum enticed us in. It has an authentic Thai street atmosphere and the food is lovely. Great satay, spring rolls and massaman curry. Good ££ too. Worth a trip

This is like a Thai street food stall, in the trendy market hall, but with comfy seats, good service, and best of all superb food, the best veggie curry I have had....anywhere !!! A must go to, if you like this food !!

In Shrewsbury for the first time, wandering around the market hall, we came upon the House of Yum which was busy busy. nevertheless we queued for 15 minutes and were shown to a shared table in this tiny eatery. What we had to eat was delicious, served by friendly staff and the lovely owner came over for a chat. Pity the Singha beer wasn't cold enough for me but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We will be back in Shrewsbury in a few weeks and guess where we will be going for lunch!

Wonderful Thai street food. Will definitely go there again. Find it in the Shrewsbury Market Hall (closed Sunday and Monday) next to the Fish Stall. The food was really very good indeed as was the service. Lovely eating in the open market as it is just like eating in the street but undercover and out of the cold and rain. Very good value for money. £56 for four with two courses each, drinks and coffee. You cannot beat that!

Hi TrippersThe markets have had a smarten up since I last came and we were very happy to sit down and spend a lunch time eating some scallops and thenmassaman curry washed down with some nice red wine. This is a great place - high quality food truck stuff with somewhere nice to sit and of course if the whole market is going the chance to load up on pheasant or crab or second handbooks. Been today for some lunch it was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and very good service despite being very busy. We had Massaman Curry and Chicken Satay and Spring rolls to start. Everything was very fresh and the flavours were amazing. Definitely going back.

Went to this restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon. The food was excellent, and so was the service. We had to wait for a table as it was very busy, but it was well worth the wait. We had spring rolls and king prawns starter and pad Thai and the masseman special curry. Will definitely go back next time in Shrewsbury.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat and what a good decision. What an explosion of Devine flavours. Prices have increased substantially for a market eatery. Very friendly staff. But due to increased prices we won't be visiting as often.

Went for lunch to the House of Yum recently, had a small starter of Spring Rolls and then ordered the Beef Thai Green Curry, hubby ordered Seafood Chilli Basil and we swapped half way through. Our friends ordered Fish Panang and everyone else chicken Thai Green Curry - well!!!!!!

Well worth finding in the market hall. Proper fresh Thai food just like you'd get in any restaurant over there, you can even watch it being prepared. Very highly recommended.

Shrewsbury market has excellent choices to eat, but the aromas enticed is to wait around until a table came free, very popular , small menu but food was excellent. Service was a little slow but worth it , the monkfish Penang curry was the highlight along with the griddled scallops. Well worth a visit.

I have been here once before and had a friendly service and the food was good. Today, the staff were snappy which I could forgive as it was busy. So I made my order of noodle soup with prawn. One member of staff said the noodle soup was with chicken, but I explained last time they did it with prawn instead for an extra £1 (I don’t eat chicken) and the other member of staff agreed, I paid the extra £1 and was told it was a 20 minute wait for takeaway. So i waited and got my food to take home. I got home and it was CHICKEN. I saw the woman write on the order clearly “prawn”. I can’t eat it and don’t have time to walk back so I ring their contact number twice, no answer. Extremely upset and there is no other contact details

Friendly, efficient staff serving tasty dishes in a tiny cafe in Shrewsbury market. Staff took care of us throughout, even while queuing and the bowls of noodles or rice dishes were tasty and excellent value. Very enjoyable.

Popped in for a late Saturday lunch and glad we did. My partner had the massaman curry which was very tasty. I had the Thai green curry and requested extra hot. It was freshly cooked to order and it was very hot, just the way I like it. You can request how hot you'd like each dish. Really amazing tasting dishes and great service. Only problem is getting a table!

Just eaten here and the food was amazing! Also the service staff very friendly and the place had thought put into it with a good ambience. A little price of Bangkok in Shrewsbury lol
