One of the BEST sandwiches I've ever had! A random find that turned into a place I'll definitely go back to! Sandwiches are flavourful and packed with fillings. Plus, you get a glass of tap water as soon as you sit down (great service)! I recommend The Korean Gangster and the Ham, Egg 'N' Chips! Can't stress it enough, go HERE!

I went here today and had the Ham egg and chips sandwich. Also ordered a Negroni. The sandwich was outstanding, the staff were welcoming and service was great. Not enough places like this in London in my opinion. I went all the way from Shepherds Bush to try it out so I wouldn’t be a regular but I would definitely make the pilgrimage over there from time to time. It’s worth the hike trust me!

the vegetarian sandwich was SO GOOD I'm still thinking about it, a bit pricey but worth it. we only had to queue for 20 mins or so, and they were really understanding and helpful with my mate who has lots of allergies and food-restrictions. and it's dog-friendly! 10/10

Wow - the rumors about Max’s is true! This is one of londons, if not the, best sandwich joints. As we were here for brunch it would have rude not to hit the Ham Egg & Chips sandwich! Knockout. Service is simple, entertaining and prompt. Can definitely recommend a cup of Joe, will be back next time for the house special cocktails. 🍸

The thing about having the best sandwich in the world is you’re sure as hell not gonna think to take a photo (or video) until your halfway through (or done). And that’s exactly why you’re watching a video of 1/2 a gluten free ceaser salad sandwich (which had a much pithier, wittier name than how I’ve just described it - and which was made on pretty abysmal gluten free bed from the corner shop - but which somehow made the best sandwich I’ve EVER HAD) and the remaining crumbs from the Korean sandwich (which also was much more eloquently described on the menu). Long and short of it is - come to Max’s. This place is phenomenal. Can’t wait to return!

A fabulous sandwich! One of the best i’ve ever had in London. It was so busy that i got take away and despite being stuffed in my backpack for 40 minutes, it was perfect when i unwrapped it at home. Great place, i will be back!

I didn’t think they could better the ham and chips sandwich but holy shxt the Thanksgiving sandwich (THANKSGIVING SARNIE OF DREAMS! TURKEY SCHNITZEL, SAUERKRAUT, STUFFING, SAUSAGE, AND WILD TURKEY GLAZED BACON CRUMB, A FRIED EGG, AND A WILD TURKEY GRAVY MUSTARD MAYO) was incredible. Please do this every year 🙏🏻 you made two homesick British/Americans happy. Tip: no reservations so if you get there, go in and get a number for dine in or go in and place order for take out. It’s popular and small. Be prepared to wait outside.

Max’s sandwich shop is a local favourite for excellent and interesting sandwiches. I love the casual and relaxed vibe inside. Make sure you get there early as it can get quite a queue out the door!

Absolutely delicious and inventive sandwiches; gourmet but not pompous. The Spuds was also one of the tastiest potato dishes I've had in years.

This is a stalwart eatery in Finsbury Park. I've been here periodically over the last few years and nothing's changed, in a positive way and in quality terms! Dropped in tonight after some drinks at the WB Yeats (great pub nearby) and had the benchmark ham, egg and chips sandwich and the fantastic, spicy michelada. All amazing and staff were lovely. It's one of those great local places where you can just turn up (if it's not already rammed!) and know that you're going to get great food...Please keep it up and never change!

When a friend suggested a sandwich for dinner I was not enthused. This was something else though...fab concept and some really great sandwiches and drinks .

Best Sandwiches Ever!!! Made the trip to the shop when down in London on holiday with the family (11, 8, 5 yr olds) after seeing Max on channel 4 couple years back. The pilgrimage was well worth it! We had Lasagna sandwich, Caeser Sandwich and Ham, Egg and Chips sandwich and all were out of this world. The Spuds with pickled stuff and katsu sauce was also amazing. Staff were spot on with nice chilled way about them and took on the kids. Would be there every week if didn't live 500 miles away.

Sandwiches filled right to the brim - you will have to accept that it'll get a little messy. Small menu but well varied so should cater for any taste/diet - it is a small place so we were lucky to get a table. Definitely lived up to the hype.

Amazing, well developed, unpretentious and delicious sandwiches. Amazing chicken wings and the staff were charming. Always would recommend trying the ham egg and chips.

Se siete a Londra, questo locale è assolutamente una tappa obbligatoria. Ho recentemente cenato qui e sono rimasta incantata. Abbiamo iniziato con le polpette fritte di mac and cheese: una vera delizia! Croccanti fuori, irresistibili dentro. Ho poi ordinato il sandwich vegetariano agli involtini primavera ed è stato amore a prima vista. I sandwich a mio parere sono enormi, quindi consiglio vivamente di andarci affamati. L'atmosfera è informale e accogliente. Il personale è stato veloce e attento. Inoltre, la selezione musicale era ottima. Munitevi di tovaglioli e non abbiate paura di sporcarvi: chi non si lecca le dita gode solo a metà.

Absolutely worth the hype, one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten!

Very expensive sandwiches (mine was £14.5 and rather small!! it includes 12.5% service to bring my sandwich to the table, 3 steps from the counter). Nevertheless, for this price, I would rather have a traditional meal. The sandwich was very difficult to eat without having half of it crumbling on your face and on your fingers (so not really the place for dating). The food is ok (nothing amazing), atmosphere is ok (nothing amazing) but again, nothing justifing this price.

It's got a mini pub vibe. Staff very friendly and service can't be faulted. The sandwiches are huge so make sure you go with a good appetite.

Wow. Quite a sandwich(s) plus extras and drinks (yum, Beavertown neck oil beer too). Popular as well. Could open more/longer or open more shops, ha ha.

We’ve waited ages to come here and wanted so badly to love it. We didn’t get to sit in as we were there for a gig and it was a 45min wait for a table so just couldn’t wait that long, so got it as takeaway. The two lads working there were very friendly & service was good. But, the sandwiches really disappointed. They were sopping wet and the bread was all soggy. We’d only eaten them just outside the shop so it wasn’t like they’d sat for ages before we tucked into them. The sogginess made eating them a total mess. It was tasty, I’ll give it that, but for £13 a sandwich we felt like they were small and not as generously filled as the pics make them look. The Mac & cheese balls were pretty small too. Overall, really disappointed and underwhelmed. It’s a shame, cos we both wanted to love these & have wanted to try them for ages. Won’t be making the trek over again.

Su tienda de encuentra a unos 40 min en transporte desde London Bridge. - En cuanto al menú, elegí el sándwich de jamón | huevo | papas y fue una sorpresa de por más exquisita! No escatiman para nada con los ingredientes. Podría llegar a decir que una orden de sandwich es para dos personas... - El servicio es excelente (apenas llegué al lugar me recibieron con un vaso de agua fría y la carta), de un momento a oto el lugar se abarrató de comensales y los atendieron con la misma buena onda. Algo curioso que observé es que en la entrada del local tienen pegados algunas malas reseñas en Google jajaja

Stopped by for a quick sandwich after months of wanting to visit. First of all, the service is unbelievable. Friendly, accommodating, and warm. You feel like you are sitting at a friends house. The sandwich was beautiful and surprisingly filling, they were also very accommodating to my allergies. Washed it down with a glass of cider at the cosy window seat. Will definitely be back.

Max's Sandwich Shop is outstanding from the time you wait outside to the very end. I particularly enjoyed the service from James on the day I went. Make sure you get a ticket at the door that will save your place in the queue. Enjoy the Mac and cheese balls, the chicken wings and the specialist sandwiches I had that day which were the chicken chips and egg sandwich, the Max's monster munch and an ode to adana. All spectacular mix of flavours! They know combinations of flavours and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone who wants the best sandwiches in london!

What a taste explosion! This is the kind of sandwich spot you hope for when you think of sandwiches. Also, I didn't go expecting to get wings, but the toppings intrigued me, so I had to try - and was I glad I did! The rich sauce with the pickled onions wasn't something I would have imagined with wings, and I feel like I've been eating wings wrong my whole life now.

Tasty sandwiches but this place is overhyped to the extreme. Nothing too special and prices are unbelievable. 13 (!) GBP for what is an average size sandwich with not any fancy ingredients. It's definitely not worth visiting twice for these prices.

I know prices change but it was 7.95 when i first start going...2017..its nearly doubled in price in 5 years. now its 12.95. thats a bit out of sync with my wages, 12.95 for a sandwich seems a bit too high

Managed to get a table and drinks after a short wait. Had the ham egg and chips as recommended by a friend. It's the best sandwich I've had and very filling. The bourbon and pickle juice chaser was something I never imagined I would try but will definitely be having again.

I got influenced by instagram, Facebook, reviews, YouTube videos, etc. and expectations were high… This place was my main goal when I reached London, but it was total disappointment… Strange combination of flavours, very salty chicken meat, bread was disaster - wet, unbaked dough… Definitely bad experience!

I've been wanting to try this establishment for ages! We got the deep fried Mac and cheese l balls, Adana goat sandwich and the egg ham chips classic sandwich. All were really tasty and overall the experience felt quite unique. The bread was good and you get quite a large portion. It comes in a sandwich bag meaning if you can't finish it in one sitting you're ready to take it away. The staff are really nice and helpful with explaining the menu. Normally the queue for this place is intense but we got lucky on a Saturday after not long after they opened. It was fairly quiet-ish actually! A little on the pricey side but I'd definitely recommend it.

Last time we went, the staff was really rude. They were very busy, and we were happy to wait for the takeaway. After waiting 30 mins, and politely asking for an update, they got angry with us. I understand they were busy but it wasn't pleasant to be spoken to like that, we just wanted to know how long we'd have to wait. Food is amazing as always, but I don't want to go back for fear of being treated as an inconvenience.

This is the type of place that when it’s gone you’ll talk about for the rest of your life. You need it.

I was there for lunch. I ordered a vegetarian sandwich.I asked the waiter which one was vegetarian ?? I didn't even check the menu because I thought with 4.8 stars in Google the sandwich would be amazing. Vegetarian sandwich was coming with spring rolls Vietnamese style inside of it. I don't know how created this sandwich but under my humble opinion this is an absurdity. I never tried worse sandwich than this with thick bread and spring rolls. It's the only option for vegetarians. Too expensive for food that they are serving. Never again Thanks

Lovely little cafe/sandwich shop. Eat in or take away. There's always a bit of a wait as the sandwiches are so popular and rightly so! Epic portion too. Try the chicken wings if you've got room. 😋

Thanks to Sunday Brunch for bringing this incredible sandwich restaurant to my attention. I’d highly recommend the Ham.Egg,Chips and the Et Tu Brute, I didn’t realise the humble sandwich could be this remarkable. As well as this, the team are extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Truly a gem👍

Was very excited to try this place, had good vibes and friendly customer service. Ham, egg and chips v tasty, chicken Caesar nice but not as nice. 4 stars as I do think it’s a little pricy for what you get, I’d be happier paying £8 but I guess overheads are costly. All in all would recommend but it’s not massive

A very nice and quaint little sandwich shop which is quite cosy and good for a date night. Being a small business, the washroom is not quite great. The prices are alright considering the cost of living and the location. Coming to the food, I tried the max and cheese bite. It was one single Mac and cheese bite, I would have preferred a bit more crunch on the outside. I also had the chicken tikka sandwich, which I thought was good but not great. The problem to me was that the crunchy element of the dish was a Bombay mix which inherently over powers the taste of the tikka and hence was a poor choice. A more neutral crunch element would have made it much easier to enhance the flavour of the sandwich. A big plus are the various Tabasco sauces which have vibrant flavours and take the sandwiches to another level. However, I would have expected the sandwich to not need additional use of the sauce, hence the 4 star rating.

I’ve wanted to come here for a while and it did not disappoint. Insanely good sandwiches (I had the spring roll one) with some epic smashed/fried potatoes and deep fried jalapeños mac n cheese balls. I was stuffed. Really friendly and accommodating staff (my two young boys joined) and some banging tunes (Cinnamon Chasers). Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing! Me and my partner have been here 3 times over the last year and have loved it every time. Tonight we had 2 epic sandwiches (Tikkanother piece of my heart + Et Tu Brute), wings, Mac and cheese balls and beers. Was excellent 👌. Service was superb, 80’s music was fab, overall dinner was top notch- can’t recommend enough!

Massive delicious sandwich and very tasty wings. Had the chicken ceasar and only had half in the restaurant. If there are no tables, you can easily get takeaway and wait outside. Space is fairly small inside with only a few seats for individuals vs tables of 4.

Best sandwiches in London. If you're not super hungry, you can share a sandwich and get sides to go with it. You will remember the sandwiches forever because they are simply divine. Having recently been diagnosed with celiac, I can no longer come here which is a real bummer. I wonder if they'd ever consider creating some GF options even if it was only for one day a week...🙏

My husband and I took friends here last Saturday evening, for their first time. It was our second time and all were not disappointed. Great food, ambience and good interaction with the staff. We had the wings and spuds for starters, yummy. Three of us had the Goat Tikka with the bombay mix, loved the crunch of the mix. It was lovely, just a tad salty and top of the bread cold, but....... was it still great?..... of course it was. The other had the chicken, which she loved. We had two desserts between us, the Ginger cake, was so so good. Then as my husband and I did last time, we ordered a round of wings again. Just got to be done, they are the best in London, seriously, the best 👌. We were offered a particular drink on the house at the end, very generous of them like last time. Although the menu was changed from the last time, it was still great. Great music, just a bit loud when trying to chat with your mates, but hey all good. See you all again soon.

Cafe like location (casual, no bookings, no allocated seating). Excellent food. Wonderful sandwich and side options - menu is small for those used to the range offered by dull chains. This is a jewel in comparison - great, unique and delicious food served with a smile.

Saw a man with an injured arm eat one of Max’s sandwiches. After only a few bites the arm was cured! He threw off his sling and he seemed so free. The man was very handsome. I highly recommend Max’s sandwiches.

Taking sandwiches to another level. I saw Max making sandwiches 6/7 years ago on a YouTube video for Vice, and now finally managed to go there. Great selection of condiments, especially those who like hot sauce. I recommend the wings to go with any sandwich. Also they were banging out Pete Rock and CL Smooth album, so technically 6/5 stars if possible. Finally, try the a pickle back shot if you feel like it.

When I took my first bite of the Ham, Egg and Chips sandwich I paused. A great feeling of serenity washed over me. The grey curtains of the world drew back and I saw the face of god. A single solitary tear ran down my face. I was at peace.

Great food, amazing experience! It's obvious that you're going to get a sandwich in Max's Sandwich shop, that's expected. What you don't expect it's the amazing vibre you'll experience when you enter this magical place. Everyone is ready to help with a smile, you see frequent customers interacting with the staff, everybody is happy, nobody wants to leave. Maybe it's the Ninja Turtles or the superheroes flying hanging from the walls, or the old dog cards next to your table. Let's not figure it out, let's just call it magic. Max's Sandwich shop is a magical place, and the sandwiches are TO DIE FOR.
