I went this evening with my daughter as recommended to her by a friend. Friendly efficient waiting staff and delicious food. I had two vegetarian dishes and my daughter had chicken madras and rice. Very comfortable enjoyable evening with beautiful food. Thoroughly recommended.

Good service but average food, masala idli with beef is a good option.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. The only reason I am giving one star review is because of the poor attitude and behaviour of the one person who manages this place (with the other junior staff being so polite and attentive). We have been to this place four times in the past one year and every single time there has been some sarcastic comments placed or we received your rude and frustrated expressions as if you are providing us a free meal under obligation. We used to think it's a misunderstanding, but it can't happen all four times, isn't it. If your restaurant is busy or kitchen is under pressure or you don't have enough people, that's not our fault. It's your duty to manage and you can't show it on us. We never had this kind of treatment anywhere else and we are not trouble causing customers. You facial expressions remind us as if we are unwanted customers. Never in my life, will we go there again, though everything else being excellent there.

We went as a group of 12. Very friendly staff. They clearly knew how to introduce South Indian cuisine to those who aren’t familiar with it. I can confidently say that the food I had was some of the most authentic Kerala food I had tasted outside India. I personally tried the Malabar Porotta and Tranvancore Beef Fry and remembered my good old days back home. I also tasted the Idly, Dosa, Allepey Fish Curry and couple of other dishes too and have never been more satisfied. Regards from a malayali from Australia. Keep up the great taste.

Worst and pathetic service....just visited by myself and lots of empty tables , rude waiter asked me to wait to be seated and group of people after me got seated before me they did not have table reserved either.. such as worst experience .. eventualy left the place never visit again...

Super delicious Halal Indian food. Menu is not typical with the regular traditional Indian dishes. Staff are super friendly. If your child doesn’t easy spicy food, mention this and a mild dishes can be served. Enjoy your dinner.

I did not like the food very much.

One of the best south indian restaurants in Sheffield. Had a Mysore Masala dosa(with spicy masala fillings), chicken biryani and Tea. The Masala dosa was cold but the taste is good. Biryani is nice and had good quantity. The best thing is the Sambar that I liked the most and the coconut chutney. Would suggest for dine in.

This is no joke guys. I cant just say this is south Indian. Koth porutto was simply a joke and to speak about biriyani they serve is utter flop. The atmospere is so creepy. Not a space worth to spend your money..

An amazing South Indian restaurant in Sheffield! Tried their Malabar parotta, beef roast, prawn mango curry and the masala tea. The parotta was fluffy and soft and both the curries were super flavourful and delicious. The masala tea was authentic as well. Inspite of being busy, the staff were super helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!!

Whilst I enjoyed my dosa, my friends had mixed experiences with their dishes. Mostly from a dryness point of view of the biriyani and some thought the spicing of their dishes was a little higher than expected. I didn't try them so can't really give a subjective opinion. I can say that the bhaji , poppadoms and pickles were very good. Cannot fault the service though, our waiter was helpful and attentive.

Worst and low quality food.. you need to pay 2times. Once in this restaurant, and next payment to hospital. U know what I mean. Tooo Pricey

Worst customer service ever, being an Indian I know the exceptional experience we receive, I ordered a salt lassi and it wasn’t what I expected it to be, I asked for it to be sent back, some guy named abin and other waiters started arguing and saying things like if it was food they would have returned which doesn’t make any sense lol I wouldn’t wish for anyone else to get that experience

Excellent food, excellent service, ate here as a group on Saturday night and was a pleasant surprise, has a quick chat with the staff after and they are from Kerela and that is the slant they put on their food. I lived in Asia for a year, and the breads are what I really love, have not had a Malabar Parotta for years and it was wonderful, many thanks

A fantastic Indian restaurant that specialises in South Indian cuisine. It’s ‘different’ to other Indian restaurant, but not in the way some fad street food restaurants are - the food is incredible with very generous portions. The chicken Dosa was very tasty and something unique, and the onion bhajis were among the best I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommended!

Famous south Indian restaurant based in Sheffield. Authentic taste of south indian spices. Idili ,sambar and coconut chutney , masala dosa was amazing. Would definitely visit and recommend friends and family. We were well looked after by Abin 👍.

Authentic south Indian cuisine from India. Unlike other Pakistani run fake Indian restaurants.

Located in the middle of Sheffield city centre, there is street parking in the adjacent streets. Good ambiance; nice, friendly staff and prompt service. Very good spread of South Indian cuisine with focus on Kerala food. All the dishes we have tried there have been excellent. Overall, it was fantastic dining experience and one we would love to revisit.

I had a chicken biryani.. it was very nice for adults but it's bit spicy for child. But it was very delicious. And service was outstanding and very friendly manner. I will recommend to visit and enjoy the food

Chanced upon this place when searching for Masala dosa in Sheffield! What a find. Authentic south indian food, cooked to great taste and served with warmth! The Fish 65 and Medhu vada as starters were spot on, light and flaky well spiced fish and crispy vadas with perfect chutneys to accompany. The beef fry was so true to the Travancore style and the fluffy aapams were a spot on accompaniment. Masal dosa was ok, probabaly needed a bit more filling, the sambar and chutney were great. The panacotta was a good way to end. All washed down with lassi and an IPA, great find! Hope to be back soon. To continue the experience, ordered the Nilgiri Chicken and the Thhothukudi squid and more Fish 65! Now, what could be improved- toilets are part of a restaurant vist at times and this is an area where some more care could be directed. Will be definitely recommending this whole heartedly.

Expensive and not worth it. I ordered a masala dosa which was so soggy and tasteless, was filled with so much potato that could feed 2 ppl again completely tasteless. I also took paneer chilli, the dish hardly had any panner cubes it was like gravy filled with other veggies. It was overall a very bad experience!

I went there yesterday as i was craving for Indian food, but it was yet the most worst experience. I have been there 3 times and only once i have got average tasting food. Yesterday, i ordered andra chilli and it was nothing as mentioned in the description . It was sooo sooo tangy that i had to eat it with birayni, it was not even worth eating( just because i dont waste food). Biryani i specially mentioned to the waitress not to make it dry. But yet it was dry and had no salt at all. Everytime i go so or the other dish is made wrong. Please teach your chef to be consistent with what he’s making. And PLEASE taste andhra chilli he makes. Its the worst indian starter i have had since i came to the UK

Authentic South Indian restaurant

The chicken madras was very tasty. The doughnut starter was a bit bland but it was my choice.

Loved the Mali kulfi. Not can compare to the one we get in India but still loved the taste.

Pleasure dining at Maveli, and despite not having a reservation, I was able to secure a seat after a short wait of around 20 minutes. Right from the moment I entered, I was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff, which made me feel at ease right away. The prices at this restaurant were very reasonable, which was a pleasant surprise given the high quality of the food. Speaking of which, the South Indian cuisine on offer here was simply delicious! I tried a few different dishes, and each one was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic South Indian dining experience. The friendly staff, good prices, and excellent food make it a must-visit for anyone who loves South Indian cuisine. Whether you're a seasoned fan or trying it for the first time, this place is definitely worth checking out!

I just ordered one masala dosa with extra sambar and I asked for extra spicy. The food wasn’t spicy and sambar was giving bad smell it was just waste of money today. I always ordered from them but from next time I will think twice before ordering the food….. they don’t give fresh food at all…😒😒

Important note: Maveli is SOUTH Indian and so don't expect to find tandoori dishes and many of the old anglicised regulars so many places serve. Many Indian families eat there - the very best recommendation there could be.

Fantastic choice of vegan options including homemade vegan chutneys to go with the poppadom starter. Friendly atmosphere and really helpful staff will definitely go again next time we visit our daughter at uni!!

Highly recommended, interesting South Indian cuisine.

This was the first restaurant I visited since moving to sheffield, recommended by an international Indian post student friend. First impression upon entering was authenticity vibes. This carried on to the food, with spices and herbs fully and correctly utilised. The interior vibe is very relaxed, and family-run vibes. The customer service was very friendly. Overall, a positive experience eating here, so I highly recommend!

Veryy expensive. Not Worth for money

A good night, tasty food, efficent service and good wine. A bonus, there was harmonises in the corner doing just that, singing after their meal.

The mallu inside me was sooo hungry that I craved for some authentic south Indian food. But as usual, I ended up ordering the biriyani. The biriyani was average. We also had the mango lassi, which was just a whole lot turmeric and some yoghurt with a pinch of mango essence somewhere in the middle. Overall, I would not say that I was happy but still would love to give it a try with some other dishes. Maybe a morning dosa run!

Amazing curry, best ever, also fantastic beer, Malabar IPA was delicious. Recommend the egg curry! Very good, Mutton also great.

Beef Piralan is amazing and genuine kerala dish! But the payasam dessert is not home made. It is being distributed locally to all outlets and is like that comes in ready-to- cook packets. One star gone for that.

a good menu of south indian dishes, it is costly for a single person. By the person in the counter was rude so 4 star.

Didn't have a booking and the short wait for a table was well worth it. The food was very tasty, the service was good and we weren't hurried. It's an easy decision to return in the future.
