Matina in Bristol, City of

This place is just lush. I generally go for the halloumi salad box with rice and ‘everything’. All salads. All sauces. Cracking! All sauces are homemade and all salads chopped fresh daily. Just the best. Lunch fills you up all day and night !

Passed Matina around lunchtime and the queue was enormous and the smells amazing. We came back later in the afternoon and had the most delicious chicken and lamb wrap. Great team doing the cooking, everything was fresh and cooked to order. Definitely a great find and we'll back next time we visit Bristol.

Gorgeous mixed wrap, cooked fresh. We struggled to find somewhere to sit and eat it but found a place on grass in park. Worth a visit...be aware it started dripping from the bottom all over my dress so eat with caution. Sauces were all delicious

Ate here when browsing at the market. We had a chicken wrap which was delicious and well cooked being quite filling. Only complaint would be there was too much red cabbage.

Was recommended by our Airbnb host - and oh my goodness, we were not disappointed! Great portion and even better flavour. We went for the chicken with “everything”, the chicken was succulent and cooked beautifully, and the freshly cooked naan was perfectly soft!

It was a wow factor with all the fresh ingredients piled up at the front. There was a long queue, which was a great sign! The queue went down very quickly, which was good. We had the mixed chicken and lamb in naan, and it was delish! The only thing letting it down was the ratio of veg fillings to meat wasn't right, not enough meat! They are massive portions. One wrap is enough for two at lunch. All in all, it was a great experience.

The chicken naan wrap was insane! Went back the next day and got the box with cous cous also just as good.

We past this street food stall at the end of St Nicholas Market on our arrival in Bristol and on our way to our hotel. It was busy and the wraps looked delicious so we decided to pop back for lunch when we were checked in. By this time the queue was long - we took this to mean that they were worth the wait. Probably only waiting 10 mins in total and it was worth it. the queue was well managed . The menus is basically fresh naan with our choice of meats, cheese and veg, although i think you could also have a boxed version without the naan. I opted for grilled veg and feta and the hubby had lamb. They were delicious. The Naan was light and the fillings so well flavoured. Service was friendly and efficient. There were a couple of stools and tables around if you wanted to sit and eat. Would definitely recommend.

If your looking for a good filling snack with good taste. Then look no further. The fresh made Nan Bread with the Salad and meat choice and all the different sauces makes it great. £7.40. I had the chicken with everything thing on as most people do. Very filling. Can be a slight wait as this place is so popular. But just be patient.

This is a 100% must-go if you are visiting Bristol. Just took my family that was visiting Bristol for the first time and they were just amazed at how tasty this kebab is. I recommend mixed meat! Don't be intimidated by lengthy queues during lunchtime, as they usually move quite quickly. Ah and make sure you have cash on you as they, unfortunately, don't accept cards.

Middle Eastern wraps at the end of the market. Tasty and prompt service. Had the mixed lamb and chicken did not disappoint.

It was the massive queues that alerted us this place, even though there were at least 20 customers in front of us we were soon being served , What a wonderful find, delicious bread wraps , the lamb kofta & salad was fantastic, the grilled chicken wrap looked good too, I was informed it was also delicious. I wish I lived closer I’d be eating here regularly. Looking forward to returning to Bristol just for the wraps !

Lip smackingly delicious. Fresh flavoursome fillings, chicken and halloumi perfectly cooked in a soft fluffy naan. The only disappointment is that they aren’t open of an evening.

Decided to come here after seeing long queues daily & I so understand why after having a Mixed Chicken & Lamb Wrap

This was absolutely superb. Freshly made naan bread cooked in a tandoor on site, stuffed with grilled vegetables, halloumi and feta (meat options available too). Add their sauces, cabbage and some chilli and voila! Worth queuing for.

The most super delicious Kurdish wraps, full to bursting with crisp fresh vegetables and pickles, sauce and chargrilled meats. Generous portions. The queue moves quickly.

If you are in Bristol you really HAVE to go to Matina. Their wraps are the best you will ever taste, the salad is always very fresh and fragrant. Everyone is so friendly. Service is quick and always with a smile (you know who you are! ) You can choose how spicy you want it too. As we only visit Bristol a few times a year we always get a roll to eat for lunch (the pitta bread is made freshly in the oven before your kebab is made) and a box with couscous to have for tea. Such is the quality of these wraps we visit Bristol just to eat these! Exceptional value at £6.50 for chicken and £6.60 for lamb. Also exceptionally dog friendly. Really good wraps. Between us, we tried a couple of meat options, the halloumi and veg option, and the vegan option (grilled veg minus the yoghurt sauce) and everyone was very, very pleased. The pickled veg are wonderful, and the sauces are all absolutely lovely. And they are very filling. Completely unpretentious and really, really good value.

The grilled chicken wraps are great, although I must say my favourite now is to go for a box instead with cous cous, with a wrap on the side if I'm super hungry! You get to appreciate the salad and sauce more this way and it tastes absolutely fantastic.Staff are very friendly too.

This is the only takeaway to go to in Bristol. We only visit Bristol to get a kebab from Matina’s in fact we love them so much we get one for lunch and one for tea! No joke!! Best wraps in Bristol! If I'm in the centre and looking for a quick bite to eat matina is my go to. The meat is succulent and the wraps are packed with filling and the seasoning is delicous !

My family stopped in here for lunch while out shopping and we all agreed these were the best wraps we've ever had. The blend of salad, sauces and fillings was delicious. I had the halloumi and roasted veg - the veg were juicy and perfectly complemented the cheese and salad. My son highly recommends the marinated lamb. Really friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Having seen the incredible reviews, I was curious and desperate to try this place. Normally the long queues are a massive put off, but we caught it at an usually quiet time (be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes). One of the best street foods I have ever had! The homemade naans were soft and delicious, accompanied by something much more unique and experimental than your usual Middle Eastern wrap. Delicious spiced and incredibly priced - I went for the halloumi and vegetables which was breathtaking. Texturally interesting and flavoursome. The staff were also super friendly. Would highly recommend going out your way for these incredible wraps or well filled boxes, which were just as amazing for gluten intolerant individuals.

I doubt you could find a better kebab than these anywhere. Always served with a smile. Don’t let the log queue put you off as it goes down very quickly as the guys work really hard. Top quality, top value and top taste. Just wish I lived in Bristol

Amazing food... we had the lamb wrap and it was lovely. Only negative thing is that there’s nowhere to sit properly and that part of the market is more exposed to the elements so wrap up well if going in cold weather.

You should be able to tell that the food is good based on long queue on daily basis during lunch hour. I personally prefer to order the grilled lamb or chicken in box with rice. They are good and value for money. Don't be discouraged by the long queue, the service are pretty fast.

I saw the amazing reviews for this place and so when I came up on the weekend I made sure to get it. Oh my god, it is incredible. I had the mixed chicken and lamb wrap and it was honestly one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten. I'll definitely be coming back here again.

Amazing.. no trip to Bristol is complete without a wrap at Matina. QUick, clean, fresh, tasty, served with all the pickles and ingredients which make it delicious and of course a smile. My fave is the chicken wrap.

The only negative you can say about this place is that the queues can get quite long around lunchtime, which is more testament to how good these wraps are.

This place might look unassuming but having been recommended it decided to try it out and it was probably the nicest wrap I've had. Packed full of chunks of grilled halloumi, veg, salad & that lovely charcoal taste you only get from a real grill with just the right amount of heat in the sauce! The naan wrap tasted so much nicer than standard ones too. Very friendly and good value for a generous sized wrap.

Been going here for over 5 years, if you want a fancy kebab then this is the place to go. Kebab is wrapped in naan rather than pitta, it's great.

I had the lamb and chicken with added haloumi on the first day, it was delicious so we went back the next day and had just lamb with added haloumi and it was still amazing second time around.

We live in Exeter and every time we come to Bristol we manage to fit a kebab in here for lunch. Freshly cooked bread, meat, salad, sauces, it's just too good. The anticipation just grows when you join the constantly long queue, but it doesn't take long and is such good value. We'll be back very soon, I can't go too long without one!

Long queue moves quickly. The naan wraps are divine, chargrilled meat is really tasty and the salad is beautifully spiced. Sit down on a stool opposite and enjoy. Highly recommended.

I love this place, they do an amazing kebab. Only thing to watch out for is the yummy sauce dripping out onto your shirt. Not the tidiest eat :)

I can’t begin to say how good this place is, it’s always our first stop on a visit to Bristol and this time we had a two kebab day! We had a roll each for lunch and got a box with couscous each for tea. We really do love their kebabs that much!

Popped through St Nicks market early lunchtime and was surprised to only see a dozen people in the queue so decided would give it a try.

Matina is a Kurdish takeaway selling delicious wraps and boxes. Keeping it simple you choose a freshly made Kurdish wrap (more like a naan bread than a wrap) or a box with rice (or cous cous). This is then filled with fresh salads, humus, sauces and topped with a choice of grilled marinated chicken, lamb kofta or hallumi and vegetables.

We visited this fast food outlet in St Nicholas market one Monday lunchtime at midday. It is very popular, but the longish queues go down quite quickly 'cos there are 8 guys working there so do not be put off by the queues,

Really pleasant friendly staff, the food is another level to others in the area, tasty, fresh, well priced. It is certainly the place to go for lunch, you will not be disappointed.

The wrap is fresh and the meat is tender and succulent. The salad and sauces complement the meat perfectly, bringing a fresh spicy crunch.

Had a wrap here with my friend, great service and very friendly, very quick too! Lots of options to put in your wrap, I’d recommend getting everything in it (unless you don’t like specific sauces or spice). The bread they use for the wrap is so good! Only £5 too which is awesome, can also get a rice/cous cous box with whatever filling you choose too.

I love Lahmajons and was hoping to get one here. Their take on the Lahmajon was amazing... fresh Chicken and Lamb marinated perfectly with loads of salad and spices and hummus. Will definitely be returning.

THE BEST kebab you are likely to have anywhere. We come to Bristol not only for the great craft beer but for the best kebabs we have ever tasted. We travel over 200 miles for these. We arrived today and are only here one night, we went straight to Matina and bought four kebabs. A wrap each for lunch and a box with couscous for tea as we don’t know when we will be back again. The kebabs and boxed meals are top class, reasonably priced and served by really friendly people who are proud of what they do. Thanks guys and here’s to the next time!

OMG, this is certainly a hidden gem! There is always a queue but don’t get put off. It is all cooked to order even the nan bread. Fresh ingredients and the sauces are knock out. I had the mixed kebab, chicken and lamb which was with freshly made coleslaw, spicy sauces (to your liking) all wrapped in a freshly cooked nan bread.

The inevitable wait in the queue is totally worth it: these hardworking guys turn fresh ingredients into a tasty and filling lunch. Excellent value for money. You won’t be hungry for dinner for a while!

I was at the St Nick's night market last night, I remembered having a kebab wrap many years ago here and it was delicious. I went for the chicken and lamb and a friend had the chicken, it was amazing, really good size bread, I was not sure what the 4 sauces were that they put on but all very tasty. A lady stopped me whilst I was eating it and asked me if it was nice, I think she could tell by my face, said it all.

visiting bristol we wanted to find the old part and what a find we had discovering matina, can't praise it enough, sooo tasty and excellent value for money PLEASEgo there you cannot be impressed enough!!!!

Amongst loads of great lunchtime options at St Nicholas Market this is the best. Great Middle Eastern food cooked to order and serviced with a smile, get there early as long queues can form despite super-slick service.

This is great street food. The kebabs are freshly cooked to order with fresh bread made and good fillings and dressing. Chicken was tender and tasty with salad and various dressings. For £5 it’s a very filling and tasty lunch.

Tried a Chicken and Salad wrap after a visit to The escape rooms. Wow what can I say probably the best street food I have tried. Chicken was tender accompanied by a superb salad and flavours amazing. Think I could get addicted to these.

Queue was forming here with orders being taken before 12pm. The giant piles of salad leaves, cabbage and mild onions were ready to be demolished and the naan bread was being proved in the window when I arrived. The chef cleaned the grill and got to work on the chicken, halloumi and lamb kebabs as we patiently waited. This place is JOYOUS. The food is amazing and the guys who run the place are lovely and friendly and greet you with a smile. The wrap is healthy, tasty, well priced and the chicken goes all the way to the bottom of the bread. Make sure you check your face before you go back to the office as it's sure to be smothered in hummus or something. Full marks, would recommend this place 100%.

Literally, the best street food in town. The queue is usually massive as more and more people knows how fantastic their food is. The guys are always smiling and working so hard to serve everyone as quick as they can. Portions are huge, and their prices are impressive. I just love it!
