Great location in Brighton Marina. One of the nicest Sunday luncheons I’ve had in a long time. Friendly staff. Good selection of beers and wines. Real fire. Pleasant surroundings. Would highly recommend.

First time visiting for a Sunday roast, and it was lovely . The staff couldn't have been any more welcoming , warm , friendly and so helpful. There was a warm blazing fire 🔥 which was perfect and the atmosphere was buzzy friendly and relaxed . Dogs were more than welcome, too, so dog owner', if you struggle to find somewhere to go, you will have no problems here . Food was good portion size and great value for money . There were enough potatoes and gravy, and the cauliflower cheese was delicious. Veg was seasonal and cooked perfectly and in all was really tasty 😋. Saw another table had ordered fish and chips, and I did get food envy it was huge and the battery looked so crispy and fresh. Only gripe is that they need to invest in some sharp knives , even cutting potatoes was hard work which then made the meat appear tough when in reality it just needed a sharp knife to cut it as it was thickly sliced. I appreciate a roast dinner is hit and miss according to the time of day you book (earlier is always better) and how busy the food orders are. I'm looking forward to the next roast and think this could become a regular visit, especially with everything they have on during the week , from open mic nights to pub quizes 😀

Very disappointed lunch today. I ordered tuna sandwich. It looked like it was bought in the local Asda with a bit of garnish and chips on side. The tuna filling was very salty. I was expecting a bit more for £9. The fish and chips were not good either. Fish wasn’t the freshest and 1/2 of it was left on the plate. Again price wise it wasn’t thf cheeper meal £15 per portion. In retrospect we regretted not returning food back and not asking for our money. We will not go back there and also we would not recommend the place.

Grim! Dirty, no atmosphere and staff appeared to be inexperienced. Toilets were filthy!!

Had a darts. Match at The Master Mariner on Thursday , lovely bunch of girls made very welcome, drinks seemed expensive but I suppose the location is an expensive area ,will remember to drink something different next time. Can't comment on food as we didn't eat.

Very tatty old pub with sticky floors and grim toilets. Only food available was a packet of crisps as the kitchen was closed on a Friday evening. Rugby on the TV had the volume turned up really loud even though the 5-10 customers in a pub with capacity for a couple of hundred people were all sat away from the screen and clearly not interested.

Good bar by the marina with nice views. Visited on a Monday so was very quiet, The barman was welcoming, my husband and I had a good chat with him.

It was lovely to come back from our undercliff walk and go to the Master Marina Pub and restaurant for Sunday Lunch. It was delicious. Traditional fare just as it should be. The staff were very kind and efficient. Our meals arrived promptly. We didn't feel rushed to finish our meal. It was a pleasure to dine here and the food was genuin and very good. Well definitely be back. Thank you for making our Sunday memorable.

2 out of 4 toilets with no loo roll at 5pm on a quiet Saturday. One cubicle didn't even have a toilet roll holder, and no toilet roll anywhere inside. Glasses left on the floor and on the sides of the bathroom. Toilets clearly don't get checked regularly - they can't be checked daily, else there would have been toilet roll. Toilet roll and rubbish all over the floor. There were at least 3 members of staff on, including a bloke who just leaned against the bar on his phone and speaking in a poor tone to the staff. They didn't have lime cordial, so charged £2.50 for just soda water! Queried it and was told soda water was expensive to buy in. Not from my experience of working 6 years in a pub. They should review their pricing/change suppliers if soda is so extortionate to buy in from their current one. Beer was OK priced however considering the location. Very dimly lit inside. Perhaps a few bulbs need replacing. Made a nice summer's day feel very gloomy.

Agree with comment above. Its pretty basic to at least clean and maintain the toilets. I keep trying to give this place another chance but it lets me down every time because it’s just not clean. Dirty glasses, dirty toilets. It’s just a shame as it could be so good

Grim! Everything outside looks sad and old. The beer was awful (kronenburg 1664) and the toilets were rank, out of 3 working 2 were dirty and none of them had toilet paper and there was no soap at all in the ladies.

Everything was good except the toilets were on the first floor, which is always a bad idea for many reasons, in particuler, Safety.

Great pub. Good service. Friendly atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly.

Staff pleasant, environment average. Beer choice, limited. Food quality poor. A casual Saturday lunch: three small dishes for £25 -- not cheap and not good -- hummus and flatbread, nachos and "southern fried chicken" pieces. The hummus was OK, but the flatbread was soft and bland. Now it gets exciting: the nachos' cheese wasn't properly melted and it was slathered with two rather gross ~sauces: some gooey green gunk that might have been intended as a guacamole, and an equally cheap and nasty "salsa". Finally, the chicken: barely cooked and very oily and not that much of it. Half the nachos went untouched (when does that ever happen to nachos?); the chicken I "drained". The hummus gave the flatbread something to do. I might drink there, but I wouldn't eat there again.

Very friendly staff and customers and very dog friendly. Had a lovely afternoon just watching the boats and drinking steadily.

Tucked away in the marina and we'll worth a visit. Lovely surroundings and a sun trap outside

If I could give it 0, I would. Went here for a roast dinner with friends on bank holiday weekend and given that we were seated by the water and the sun was shining, we thought it would be hard to mess it up. This place was definitely a ‘master’ of disappointment. Disgusting food, the meat was grey and tough, wet cabbage and overpriced drinks add that to the unfriendly welcome given to my friends of colour and the screaming bungee jump behind us, a total waste of money and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Visited Saturday night around 10 pm not many people in the bar nice enough place but ruined by people obviously drunk saying that they had been drinking since 12 arguing and swearing loudly at each other the bar should have stopped serving them a long time before getting into that state as it's not nice in that type of atmosphere

MY FAVOURITE PUB IN BRIGHTON (by non-pub person) 1) Food – typical English menu, similar to the many other pubs. Nothing negative nor spectacular really, so basically it is definitely not the food that attracts me to this place. 2) Customer service – that is a huge advantage of that place. Whoever is on the shift, always pleasant to deal with, easy going, helpful, talkative, bonding. 3) Interior – I love every inch of that place in terms of space, comfort, red-brick traditional design, Brighton Marina location under the cliffs, next to Yachts and Live Music of course. 4) Price – similar range to a many other pubs. Nothing surprising here.

Lovely pub with a stunning view of the marina. Very dog friendly. I had a delicous vegan roast with vegan Yorkshire pudding.. 10/10.

Went there for lunch today really nice we all enjoyed the food and very responsible also. met the manager Sam very welcoming and the place is nice I would recommend it to anyone looking forward to having my birthday party there I should imagine in the summer it's the place to go

So so venue with a somewhat captive market area. Staff not overly great initially and check your bill. I had to mine adjusted for overcharging. When politely confronted, initial response was very lackadaisical but was corrected and made good.

Used to frequent this place for years Sadly, it has gone downhill ,rapidly ...Certainly needs a good clean ...how about live music? We always had that there? Or make it a family pub ? It's in such a prime position.. Customer service ,cleanliness, then some atmosphere..not sport and huge screens..the pub has more character than that ,imo . Good luck 👍🏼

The pub itself is nice but let down by a very rude bar man. I recently went in to have a drink here with a few friends. I was about to move a 3-person table out to fit more chairs around (there were 5 of us). The barman came over and aggressively said, "Don't touch my f**king tables." It turns out he thought we were there to watch the England game (which was in 2 hours) and was worried about space. When we explained we weren't there for the game, so he said we could sit anywhere. That plus a few other comments made us feel very unwelcome.

Stopped in for a beer and a meal but my pint of fosters was flat not a bubble or a head to be seen, decided not to bother with food.

My Husband spent time at her majesty's pleasure and swears the food was 10 times better then here .there was 10 of us and all our roast dinners was truly awful, lamb was undercooked if not raw and the roast chicken looked anaemic , we will never return

Nice venue and location. Plentiful parking at the Marina. Event catering was good; basic buffet but done quite well.

A good sized pub, although when we went there weren't many punters, which seemed odd for a Friday evening. There was, however, a karaoke which was loud and used by a small party of people! Still, the bar service was pleasant and timely and the place was clean!

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere was a tiny bit dead but the food and service was very good. We both had fish and chips, the fish portion was huge and incredibly fresh. Mushy peas were nice and minty. We were quite impressed for a local pub. Worth a stop if you are in the marina!

This is such a great place in the middle of Brighton Marina with excellent view, friendly staff and fresh beer.

Very nice venue, welcoming and really friendly staff, good pub grub fairly priced. I would have given them 5 stars, but the fact that they have a cocktail list but then turns out they haven't got the faintest idea of how to make one (but will still charge £8 for a beverage that doesn't look or taste like cocktail you ordered) made me take one star off. Sorry, I try to be as impartial as posible and write my experience as it was. I would definitely go back. But I'll stick to wine next time!

Nice quiet pub just off the main square. Unfortunately their beer prices are now expensive - menu selection is reasonable but again prices high. Great shame.

Very pleasant pub.the food was good .we used it as a family meeting point.

Visited midweek for lunch. The pub is slightly tucked away but is easy to find. It looks older than it is and has a large interior and a nice outside seating area overlooking the marina. The service was generally good but there was a long wait for the food to arrive. The pub wasn't particularly busy so I don't know how they manage during busy periods. The food was good and reasonably priced. They only have one ale on tap and this was off on the day of our visit. So I had to drink the American pale ale which wasn't too bad. The pub is dog friendly with water bowls outside. Overall a nice place to stop but be prepared to wait for your food.

Amazing Lunch in a quiet spot by the marina in Brighton, staff were very helpful and friendly and food was very yummy and well presented. Would highly recommend for a bite to eat or for a leisurely drink inside or out.

Lovely place but the roast dinner was awful. Rock solid piece of carrott. Slithers of fatty lamb. Burnt roast potatoes swimming in oil hidden under the the typical large cold Yorkshire to fill up the plate. We paid £17 each and this is not the only place that is cutting corners on meals. We have now decided to avoid Sunday roasts from now on and do our own.

Over priced pre heat sadly. Great location.

had a pint of Kronenbourg with my daughter this evening, it tasted like old slops had been poured into the barrel. I very rarely leave a pint unfinished. I was continually burping and left nearly half of it

Popped in Wednesday 20th April must say food was delicious never had a ceaser salad like 👍very friendly man at the bar could not of been more welcoming will definitely go back and would highly recommend this pub .

Lovely lunch at the Master Mariner. Friendly and helpful staff made sure that all four of us got meals to suit us. Huge Sunday roasts (one beef and one vegan) and generous sides for me and my granddaughter..Very nice to sit by the marina, away from bustle and traffic.

we couldn’t of asked for better , we didn’t book and had children with us, we popped in on the off chance they may have a table and i can honestly say we’ve never been more welcomed (mother’s day) anywhere we’ve been we went and found a table got to walk around and look at the most fabulous decor , we ordered food that was absolutely fantastic the staff are friendly and couldn’t help enough it was really lovely chatting to the owner Loui about the pub itself and it’s a stunning location all in all i would highly recommend for food , atmosphere, friendly staff, children and dogs welcome

Extremely poor customer service. Waited 40 minutes for our food only to be told rudely by a member of the waiting staff that it was wasn't ready and they hadn't started due to a 'mix-up'. No apology and no indication when food might arrive - appalling level of customer service resulted in our party deciding to leave. Nice pub in a good location let down by rude, bad attitude of waiting staff.

Huge Sunday roast, amazing value

I attended a wake here recently & Sadly my experience wasn't great. There was an extremely large party of us & I can speak for many on the unwelcoming greeting on arrival . We were slightly early and all locked out which was worrying as it was after 3 and unusual for a pub be closed.Unprepared understaffed unfriendly staff.after a very sad occasion wasn't a great experience.

Do not go here if you want food. Went for a booked Sunday roast beef lunch. After 35 minutes no food, complained as others arriving after us had received food. Advised wouldn't be long. After 50 minutes still no food. Complained again. Advised "it happens". Very few in pub. Got refund and left. Will not return.

If you are looking for a cold pub where the staff and atmosphere are the same. Then this is the place for you. We popped in last sunday. It was a cold day. All the fires were not running. Staff not friendly. Will not be back. Shame in the right hands could be a great pub.

What a great find while we were at Brighton Marina! Beautiful pub with wood fire, lots of space and comfy spots as well as lovely staff. We ordered 6 small plates the portions were great, delicious mac n cheese, chicken wings, and fish goujons. The best dish was the croque madame, it was one of the best I have ever had (we ordered 2) If we didnt have other plans we would have stayed here drinking most of the day. We will definitely be coming back, thank you so much, always great finding a lovely pub!

First time I have dined in the master Mariner and I found the staff friendly and helpful. The starters at £8 seemed like they were steep but portion sizes are good so the value is there, other restaurants would call them sharing plates. Good range of beers and all good quality.

Very sadly appalling. Staff obviously new dinnt know the drink they sold many items not available. But no indication. Food was OK (Roast) but waited 15mins for mint sauce / mustard. Feel for them Sunday before Xmas place was empty.

Went to a private party if the usual food is as good as the party food then it will be a great place to go it would be wonderful in the summer overlooking the marina

Busy for a Sunday lunch but we found a table. Roast was ok. Nice gravy and the cauliflower cheese (£4.50 extra) was excellent. The pigs in blankets (£4.50 extra) were terrible. I can't believe.you can actually buy sausages that cheap, change them up they really let the whole meal down and is the main reason for the 3 stars. Lamb was gristly, potatoes weren't crunchy and the Yorkshire wasn't great. Few tweaks and you could have a good product, so close yet so far.

Love the food, good traditional pub. Never been too noisy. Allow dogs! 🐾 Pretty much my perfect pub! 😁
