Mastab's Indian Resturant & Takeaway in Craven

Booked at table for 7pm, arrived dead on 7pm and got told to wait 30 mins. Came back 30 mins later to be told our table was given away and could we sit separately as a group. Offered no form of apology. Shocking service.

WHEN VISITING SKIPTON WE ALWAYS VISIT HERE FOR A CURRY. CALLED IN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS VERY BUSY THEY FOUND US A TABLE. WE HAVE HAD CURRIES IN EVERY PLACE IN BRITAIN WE HAVE VISITED BUT HONESTLY MASTABS HAS TO BE IN THE TOP FIVE. GIVE IT A TRY IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA YOU WONT REGRET IT .

Loved this food several years ago, but not so good now. Much more expensive and delivery charge high. Curry very glutinous with bits of corn in it. Very disappointing compared to previous years.

We had a take out to be delivered more than once this month and both times we have been told the wait would be around 1 hour or before but both times we have waited 2hrs or more. We have been unable to contact them to enquire where the food is on the mobile we placed the order on, we rang on a different mobile and got straight through and told it was on its way but still waited another hour - very poor customer service

Have often visited Mastabs when in Skipton and have always been thoroughly satisfied with my numerous meals there over the years and have rated Mastabs as the best Asian restaurant of the four in skipton BUT on my last visit the quality of the food has taken a turn for the worse. I wonder "Are they now buying in their Indian base sauce from a catering supplier?" because the food they serve is now the same as the other Indian restaurants, with no discernable difference in taste between a chicken dopiazza and a chicken madras (only the heat level is different) and the consistency of the (bland) sauce not as it is as if cooked to order in the restaurant kitchen. Also, in the past you could hear the busy kitchen preparing your food and could smell the heady aroma of Indian food being cooked - but not on my last visit.. I wholly understand that Mastabs, the same as most other restaurants are struggling to control costs and their prices remain very low but when cost cutting affects quality then it results in poor value for money and dis-satisfied customers.

I brought my husband here for his birthday as we were staying in the area. I’m glad I chose this Indian as the food was lovely and very reasonably priced! Staff provided a good service too. I would definitely return again if in the area. Thank you

Visited here tonight. Food was great. It was tasty, plentiful and there was a great choice. It was quiet so our food came quickly. We couldn’t eat it all so asked for takeaway containers which they gave us. Prices were reasonable. If we lived round here this would be our go to Indian.

A very busy Saturday night at Mastabs with lots of Christmas party groups. We managed to get a table thankfully, and were glad we did. The food was great and reasonably priced. No problem for vegans- double checking things with the kitchen. The staff were working flat out but were really friendly. Lovely lads - couldn’t rate them too highly. Thank you!

Having just moved to Skipton, we chose Mastabs to show-off the town to our visiting friends - we could not have chosen better. The restaurant was busy, but the staff went out of their way to make space for us. Food was exceptional, great value, very helpful staff answered all questions we had on food. Had a takeaway as staying here for a walking weekend. Ordering was easy and the delivery was very prompt. The food was also top notch and easy to recommend to anyone. The prices are extremely reasonable as a bonus.

If you look back at my reviews you will see that I gave Mastabs four stars. This is our reason for returning tonight but what a disappointment. We wanted to eat at 19:15 so we ordered via just eat at 18:00. Our order arrived over one hour late. According to Just eat the food was on its way but after call the restaurant they hadn’t finished cooking it. Staff should realise that the customer can still hear their conversations with their colleagues when they are on the phone. I was lied to and told it was just leaving the restaurant but in the conversation he had on the phone with his colleague our food was clearly not ready yet. Also saying we are very busy isn’t a excuse. You took my money and made a commitment. If you take to much work on and can not honour you commitment that is not my issue. One hour and 30 mins late isn’t acceptable. Now down to the food. It wasn’t restaurant standard. I could of ordered from a takeaway in town and eat better for less money. Food was warm not hot. The dish in the photo should of had a salad but came with a slice of onion. Overall a very disappointing experience. Advice for owners...Just be up front with your customers. Concentrate on quality not quantity.

We visited early on a Sunday evening and were immediately impressed by the attentive and friendly staff. All the dishes we ordered were excellent and at a very reasonable price. We will definitely be returning.

On a positive note the food was delicious, however with regard to Covid guidelines these were nil. Every table was full, people coming in for takeaways, no social distancing at all and concentration on takeaways compromises the the restaurant customers. Would return but when Covid guidelines are no longer required.

Had an enjoyable meal with my wife during a recent visit to Skipton , my haddock curry was very good, unusual to see fish curry on Indian restaurant menus these days and my wife enjoyed her chicken bhuna.The interior could do with a refurbish but other than that all ok.

we ate on Wednesday evening ,Poppadoms to start with a great home made Tamarind pickle. Both of our main dishes were excellent with great service. Its a small place so social distancing is compromised with people walking through to pick up take away orders.

Booked here whilst staying in Skipton. Booked a table for 730pm was told no tables so waited half hour for a table to be free frustrating as it was the food made up for the delay. The staff were very friendly and couldn't apologise enough. The food was really yummy very tasty with good sized portions. Highly recommend.

After an unexpected car break down in Skipton, stumbled across Mastabs.. Our meal was delicious, the special tamarind sauce was the best!! My daughter has eaten here before. It’s her birthday today and she wanted a takeaway from here. It’s not my usual for a curry but it was very good. It was that good that I will be returning. Very friendly service on the phone. Reasonably priced.

Dined on the evening of 24/01/20.Called in to this restaurant and they were happy to accept a walk-in. Appreciated this as it was almost full.Skipton's a small town and all things considered we had a good Indian meal given moderate expectations.Service was okay, waiters were friendly and fairly attentive should you garner their attention. If you didn't motion their attention, you would be sat in limbo.Surroundings are shabby, the whole place needs a refit, menus are falling to pieces with my own being stained with wine and I had to use my partners to survey the pages I couldn't make out.However, all the good we ate was of a better standard than would be expected for a town centre Indian restaurant, very authentic and certainly a vast improvement over a local competitor located near the canal-side.Aesthetic improvements to the internal decor required and slight improvements to service would embellish this establishments stock value but I'd wager that they will succeed for years to come due to lack of worthy competition.

Fabulous food. I had Lamb Karahai, which was deliciously spiced, sweet rice and a cheese Naan. The only criticism, is that the poppadoms could be fresher.

Ordered from the takeaway menu, the flavours of the food were nice, chicken tikka rogan josh, fish pakora, sweet rice and some chutneys and poppadoms. However, some of the items were missing elements that were on the menu, the sweet rice was show as coming with 'coconut & dry fruits', upon arrival there was coconut but no dried fruits, disappointing as I'm sure the fruitiness would have added a lot to the meal. The fish pakora while pleasant enough was advertised to come with a sauce that was not there, something that again would have made it that much more enjoyable.Overall I'd order again as the meal on the whole was enjoyable but I feel more attention to detail needs to be given as to what they advertise vs what they deliver.

I can say that this is one of Skiptons better Indian restaurants having sampled most whilst there! Handily situated in Skipton centre, its appearance is unpretentious- an Indian restaurant from my younger days.But its appearance should not deter you.Shared the starter platter which offered a varied selection and then a Keralla chicken and naan which was nicely but not over spiced.

"I think that that was the best Indian meal that I have ever had" - my wife. And I have to say that I agreed with her!It was a very comprehensive menu, with a number of items that we had not encountered before, particularly the chef's specialities. We started with vegetable samosas and garlic mushrooms. The former were tasty but the latter were out of this world, with such a lovely variety of mushrooms.For mains, I had vegetable karahi (actually, not on the menu), whilst my wife had Mumbai masala (haddock). We each had mushroom rice (again with a wonderful selection of mushrooms), and we shared a freshly-made naan. My wife had a few glasses of Cobra and I had a few glasses of the (very tasty and keenly priced) house red.Afterwards we asked for the dessert menu to discover they don't do them. I really wish that they would reconsider this, even if it was only ice cream. Also, the first we knew that they didn't accept cards was when we noticed it on the menu. Fortunately, we had enough cash, but I wouldn't have appreciated having to traipse off to an ATM. But, at least we will be prepared next time.But the food was excellent, and the service could not be faulted. We will be back on our next visit to Skipton.

Another of those which are good but not quite very good (need a good rating), normally go to the Spice Grill when in Skipton, but as they were closed for refurb work, we decided on Mastabs, food and service were both good, as we are dirty hippy veggies we had several veggie side dishes, all were tasty and our friends lamb and chicken dishes the same.

Food was very tasty, the price was very reasonable and the staff were very accommodating and friendly, I will definitely visit this place again.

We had a lovely meal here with friends , but instead if me picking my normal go too, chicken tikka masala, i picked a special dish of lamb chops , but the sauce was just far too hot for me. The rice and nan were very good.

If you like Indian food and great service Mastab’s ticks all the boxes. Forget the big chains with all the bland bought in manufactured chicken try the authentic well cooked food at Mastab’s along with the friendliest service you can ever imagine.

We called here quite early on Tuesday evening and it wasn't particularly busy. Very polite and friendly staff and service was timely and very good. My starter, onion bhagees, was lovely and not dry, as one reviewer experienced. The main course was also tasty and well worthy of another visit.

After reading the previous reviews we decided to have our meal at this restaurant. The food was only average and I think it is over rated. The galic nan bread and Bombay potatoes were very good. The onion bajiis were very dry and tasteless. I had tandoori king prawns and they were tasteless and overcooked. We wont be rushing back. Sorry.

We’d heard great reviews about the food and service at Mastab’s so decided to try for ourselves. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was 5 star! It’s not often you get personal service from the owner, who greeted us when we came in and looked after us the whole time we were there! I can see why now the restaurant is always packed and busy! Loved it so much we’re going back next week.. also the spring rolls are DELICIOUS! I had 2 portions to myself!

We visited as a large party on a Friday night with the majority having the 3 course deal for £10 each. This is a good price and there was plenty to choose from on this menu.

Whether we eat in, or take away, this curry house is the best. The service in house is great, staff are lovely and friendly! The food is always very hot when we get a takeaway. The food is just delicious! From the starters, to sides, to main meal...perfect. We love it here.

We live near Halifax and meet up with family who join us from Harrogate. A favorite place with all of us.They really take a pride in their food and service.

Second visit to this venue and just as good as last time. Quiet for an early Sunday evening but this gave me a chance to have a good conversation with manager about cooking Asian food and was interested to find out how the restaurant prepared their dishes which are balanced more towards traditional homestyle cooking. Different cooking methods from many Indian restaurants but equally just as good or better. Eat here - you'll be pleased you did. Will certainly return.

In this neck of the woods, we are incredibly lucky to have some of the finest curry houses in the country. No need to travel into Bradford, we have the best right on our doorstep!

Called in Monday just as they where opening 5.30. Lots of local people calling in for take away meals and quite a few people eating in when we left.

I came here with my wife. She ordered chicken tikka which she enjoyed I ordered mushroom balti and a side of Bombay potatoes. The mushrooms were very chewy and I mentioned to the waiter and he said they were tinned mushrooms. To be fair he eventually came back and offered to change and I did, though felt I had to order a mixed vegetable balti because I now wanted something quick and am limited as I am vegan. This was better, but anything is better than tinned mushrooms, and I ate but it was mushy and didn't feel fresh. I also don't know why they put one slice of random cucumber and a bit of tomato on top, maybe to make it seem more fresh! The side of Bombay potatoes was ok but the potatoes were over cooked and mushy and it wasn't a dry dish as stated on menu. I fed this back to the staff who claimed every thing was fresh apart from the mushrooms. He said they use tinned mushrooms because they go off too fast!! Sorry but I thought this was a restaurant do we not pay for them to replenish stock! All in all a very disappointing meal for me but at least my wife enjoyed hers. We won't be going back.

Visited Monday night with wife, both had same meals starting with mixed starter followed by chicken madras, pilau rice, bombay potato, naan & popadoms. Everything we had looked and tasted superb with the exact amount of spiciness and consistency. Portion sizes were generous. Without doubt this was one of the best Indian meals I have had in a very long time. Service was extremely polite and efficient and the cost of the whole meal (inc. 2 diet cokes) came to just £36.00 so excellent value for money also. I would recommend this eatery to anyone who likes a good "Indian" and will not hesitate to return next time I'm in Skipton. Well done Mustab's.

Good selection of special dishes and the usual fare. The service was swift and polite. My mixed tandoori grill was over cooked and a little dry for my taste, however my partners chicken darjeeling was excellent. Overall very good.

We booked a table earlier in the day and turned up on time. The place was rammed so an obvious sign of good food. The Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink festival was on. We had to wait 30 minutes past our booking time but the food was worth it. Service was excellent once seated as well.

We walked here from our mooring with our hire boat. The service was okay but not overly friendly. The food was very average, big portions but chicken was dry and nothing special. I wouldn’t go back but it wasn’t the worst. The decor in the restaurant is very dark and could do with an uplift.

Had the house special starter as always, I could almost have this to myself as a main.... went off piste and ordered the mastabs mixed curry for main, I think that’s my new favourite 👍
