We were very nicely greeted, especially when I mentioned it was my Sons birthday. The drinks were brought promptly to the table, Cobra, and a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blank. We started with Papadums and chutneys while we were ordering. I am not a vegetarian, but I fancied a change, so I went with Badaal Jaam, aubergine coriander, and yoghurt, Amchuri Gobhi, cauliflower florets with ginger onions and mango. My favourite Vindi Bhaji Okra with onions, herbs, and spices. I like how they cook it with a dry texture. I am definitely going to have this again and try the Aloo Paratha, bread stuffed with potatoes next time. A nice gesture was the manager who treated my Son, to a birthday dessert! All in all, it was a very nice evening. Thanks,

We came here by accident on New Year's Eve having booked somewhere else in the area which turned out to be totally unsuitable. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and, despite being really busy as the evening wore on with tables filling up and takeaways being ordered, the staff coped calmly and we never felt rushed. We had a selection of dishes between four of us and I am gluten and dairy intolerant which was catered for in the tnai section of the menu. The food was delicious, the service was great and I would not hesitate to return. Thoroughly recommend Masala Lounge.

Two curries ordered, the Thai yellow chicken was a bit tough and overcooked but the sauce was lovely. The pawn malai curry was really good.

I've dined at this place for years, both for sit down evenings in the restaurant and takeaways. Last night's takeaway sadly means I will not return. Given the time for pickup, we arrived and waited 40 minutes past the time that they said it would be ready. As way of an apology they gave us a free gift... two used, broken, chipped and dirty cobra pint glasses (I kid you not).... still we had the food and it always tastes good here...... Nope, tonight it was terrible. The shashlik chicken was dry and burnt and the lamb would have bounced if you dropped it. Such a shame, but the whole experience put me off

Excellent food, wide variety, good service and pleasant location. Our family evening at the Masala was, as ever, a good experience. The freshly cooked food was good and up to expectations. Two nights later we returned with a smaller group to dine and we’re not disappointed. Consistently good standard all round. Will visit again.

Food was not hot, not even warm. The meat in the entrees was precooked, not fresh. Massaman curry was weirdly sweet with no heart. Terrible effort.

Not bad. Serves when u r unable to cook or need a good place to meet and eat. But still unable to find a good Indian restaurant in this part.

Large choice of Indian and Thai food, had spring rolls and Thai curry both of which were very nice, my pal had poppadums and a paneer passanda which she throughly enjoyed and it was reasonably priced too. The staff are also very amenable too.

First time buying from this restaurant but definitely not the last, the Thai green curry was flawless and by far the best I've had in a long time, service was on par with the food, very friendly and welcoming staff

Used to visit a couple of times a year but this was the first visit in 4/5 years. Fortunately it had not changed at all and was still very good. Between us we had 3 starters and 3 mains plus rice and naan and all the food was great apart from one starter, the vegetable tempura, which was not good. It was a Monday night and they were not very busy but service was very polite and helpful. Proper size bottles of Magners too. Prices perhaps a little on the high side but portion sizes were decent. Would happily return.

Took my family to celebrate my 11 year old daughters birthday. Service was fantastic and food was very very good. Waiter even gave a little birthday gift to my daughter in the form of something very cold! This is the second visit to this curry house and both have been very good!

First time we tried this place tonight! The service was attentive and the staff were friendly. Probably the best Indian we have had for a long time. Good portion sizes and lovely flavours, could not fault the meal. We will definitely be returning!

Can't fault the food, was served fairly prompt and sizzling, tasted lovely. I had the chicken tikka kali mirch with peshawari naan and pilau rice. Bottled beers were on offer but the cobra was not chilled, got poured for us and just had to send it back and had to swap for a kingfisher which was fine.

Birthday celebration. Prebooked in June.. Service very slow due to one member of staff for restaurant and phone orders. Food portions very large and meals even a korma had to much heat . So much that some meals were left. Good quality food . Choose careful if you don't want really spicy food . Everything needs a good scrub . Toilets grim . High chair disgusting .

We used to dine here two or three times a year pre-COVID and always enjoyed the food and efficient service. Tonight was our first visit for a couple of years though and things were not as we remembered them. I’m not sure if the food is still good as we didn’t get that far! On arrival, we waited for several minutes to be met at the door whilst a queue of people collecting take-away orders were dealt with. Once we were greeted, we had to wait again while our table was made up and another take-away order was sorted out. We were seated and the waiter disappeared without taking our drinks order so we waited for 10 mins until he returned. We ordered two gin and slimline tonics which he returned with 10 minutes later. The drinks were flat and warm so I went to the bar to ask for replacements. I watched him make the new drinks for fear that they would be the same again (we thought he might have used soda water instead of tonic the first time) and I was surprised to see that the Schweppes tonic water bottles were kept on a shelf rather than in the fridge and on opening them they were as flat as the first ones. Back at our table he offered to have another go with ‘normal’ tonic water but we said we’d rather just order a bottle of wine. I picked up the drinks menu but he’d disappeared again by the time I looked up to order. Another 10 minutes passed and there was no sign of him or anyone else and we decided enough was enough. We’d been there for 40 minutes and hadn’t received a decent drink let alone been asked if we would like some popadums so we thought better of it and decided to leave. The food might still be good and judging by the constant flow of takeaway orders that seemed to receive priority over the seated diners I would guess it is. There also only appeared to be two waiters serving the restaurant, bar and takeaway customers so perhaps there were staffing issues on the evening and we were just unlucky, sadly we’ll never know as we won’t be returning. When we left, we walked over to Sunrise Balti, where we were greeted, seated and drinking well prepared drinks and eating popadums all within 15 minutes. Good curry and good service so the evening was saved, thanks Sunrise.

We booked a table for 2 perons on a Saturday afternoon for later that evening.On arrival the table was ready and we were greated warmly by the host who showed us to table and left us with menus as he went off to fetch the drinks.Note; no draft beer its all bottles.The starters were served and both my wife and myself commented on the portion size - they were huge - and also very tasty.When we had the main courses it was no real suprise to either of us that we could not eat all that was on the plate. They had beaten us.The think that impressed us the most about this place was the welcome from staff and the nice friendly atmosphere that they managed to create.We would certainly return in a heartbeat if we lived a lot closer.

And when I went to collect our takeaway, the gent running the shift offered me a complimentary drink whilst I waited - top quality service & will definitely be ordering from these guys again.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while. I’ve had many many meals from ML and never been disappointed. We all have our habitual favourites in restaurants but here you can order absolutely anything, even surprising lamb shank curries (!) and it’s all delicious. I have eaten extensively in Thailand and India and this is the best Thai and Indian outside of the countries. Seriously!Great for families as my daughter has a delicious korma and my son a massaman.

Every aspect was totally amazing. Amazing food . Excellent value for money. Presentation amazing. Ambiance amazing. Customer experience excellent. Every thing totally faultless. Left making a booking on night to return with a friend.It was a Saturday night. Full restaurant and not once did any thing slip on standards. Myself and my husband will be returning on a regular basis. On many occasions with friends.I cannot recommend this restraint enough.

Varied menu and some unusual dishes listed. If anything the food tends to be on the spicy side so well worth checking. 3 chilli's on the menu might be equivalent to 4 or 5 elsehwere. Good service and nice bright and clean surroundings.

We were shown to our table, shortly afterwards our drinks order was taken but service went downhill from there. After our food order was placed it was about 25 minutes before our starters arrived. The place wasn't even half full!

I arrived at 21.20 hrs. Mid week. The place was completely empty, although takeaways were going well I was informed. The venue was clean enough, but the food was not very flavoursome. They also completely forgot part of my order (I had to remind them). It eventually arrived by a young waiter just before I had finished the rest, without a single word or gesture of apology. I have to say, not an ideal gastronomic experience.

We visited with my mum and dad. Very well looked after. Food was great as was the service. Would highly recommend and we'll be back for more. Thank you :)

We live in Chandler’s Ford and have dined in at Masala Lounge many times over the years as well as had takeaways with friends and family and we’ve never had a bad experience. Tonight we had a takeaway and as always it was absolutely delicious! We tend to eat from the Thai menu and this evening had chicken massaman and a red curry with coconut rice and it really was first class. We recommend to friends and family all the time and if you haven’t eaten here before, do so soon!!

This was a return visit after a while trying other curry houses. Firstly the staff were brilliant. I ordered chicken 65 for starter. It was spicy but i really enjoyed it. I was particularly impressed with how the waiter took time to explain how the dish was made. I then had malabar gosht for my main which i enjoyed. Overall a great restaurant. Will definitely return.

I've been coming to the Masala Lounge for years but hadn't been for a while. I was not disappointed. The same excellent standard of food and service is here and we had a really lovely meal. The restaurant has both Thai and Indian food available so its great if you have friends who don't like curry. There's a wide choice of food and all of it is delicious. Prices were reasonable. The only reason this isn't a 5* review is that our vegetarian friend found the menu more limited than expected.

Decided to order a takeaway, big mistake! The curry was sour and not nice. Chicken was dry Best bit was the rice and everything else went in the bin. If you eat in here maybe different but stay away from the takeaway as awful. Big disappointment.

Once again super Indian food in clean comfortable surroundings. Friendly helpful staff, good parking facilities. Will visit again. We visited at 6.30pm. Saturday evening. The only criticism here is that, at that time, due to high takeaway orders, table service was slow! Something the manager should be mindful of. Fortunately we were not in a hurry.

I know it’s the last Saturday before Christmas, couldn’t see how many take aways were collected, but we sat down at 7.30 and we had our main course served at 9.20 !!

Been here a couple of times now. In the evening was very busy but on a Sunday lunchtime was quiet. Still, the service was good and the food was freshly cooked and very tasty. We had butter chicken, jalfrezi chicken and a mixed starter. All very good.

Have tried many other local Indian restaurants and none if them beat this one, from now on we're sticking with Masala Lounge. Food superb as always, I selected from the Indian menu, lamb dish was beautifully cooked, tender and tasty. Partner chose from Thai menu, sizzling beef, looked amazing and he agreed it was! As others have said, the staff are friendly without being over-bearing. Great restaurant.

I think I last visited this excellent restaurant in October 2016. This visit made me think why did I leave it so long before returning. The staff are friendly without being overbearing and where very helpful to one of my friends who needed assistance avoiding very spicy food. I had fried calamari for starter which was really nice. It had a nice kick to it which I like. For main I tried Malabar gosht which was also nice. Overall a great time and would definitely return.

I think my last visit was back in March 2018 when I rated this place highly. In that respect nothing has changed. The food and service remains consistently good.

Highly recommend this restaurant, the food is great and there are some different curries to normal curry places. We usually have Indian but have had some of the Thai food and that was really good as well. We don’t go that often but staff still manage to make us feel special!

This is a little gem of a restaurant. It does the best Chicken Dhal I've ever tasted and the rest of my family enjoyed their meals too. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are very attentive and friendly. It was my daughter's first Indian experience and they were brilliant with her. The decor is a bit dated but it's clean, with immaculately laid tables. I'd definitely recommend - booking might be advisable.

My wife and I visited on a Friday evening. The restaurant is very popular and was soon well filled. There were also several take-away clients. I made a mistake with my drinks order, requesting Tiger beer instead of the (as I see it) much more enjoyable Cobra beer. These were available only in bottles rather than draft. I chose a House Special, Murg Dhaniya Adhraki (chicken in an Indian gravy, with coriander and ginger). This contained top-quality pieces of chicken in a creamy sauce. It was quite spicey, as indicated by the 2 red chillis by the dish on the menu. Very enjoyable. The accompanying Lemon Rice was good, with cashew nuts, herbs and fresh lemon juice. My wife chose two Thai starters: tempura vegetables and aromatic crispy duck, served with pancakes and spring onion. These were OK but the restaurant is basically an Indian one and, from what I can judge, it may be better to order Indian dishes. The service was good and we enjoyed our meal.

Visited the restaurant last night and ordered from the thai menu food was delicious best pad thai noodles and chicken green curry and the staff are friendly and very helpful will be definitely be going back
