Masala Club Indian Restaurant in Solihull

I solo ate here while working at the NEC or staying nearby. I opted for the Chicken Tikka which was fantastic. A huge portion of chicken not the usual few chunks one often gets. For the main, I opted for the mix balti which was equally excellent. Friendly and attentive service and a genuinely solid curry house experience.

As ever the Masala Club continues to deliver best in class food on such a consistent basis. Whether it's a Tawa, a dansak, a pathia or a kashia lamb the flavours are always spot on, meat always tender and always very well presented. The Kingfisher always consistent too and decent wine and spirits options. The service is eager to please, extremely polite and friendly with Merlin and Ahmed offering customer service above and beyond. They are always open to requests whether that be the spice strength of your chosen meal, advice on what meal may suit you best or indeed a dish that may not necessarily be on the menu. Always a pleasure to visit, a treat to always look forward to and hopefully we'll be back very soon.

Main courses were good. Let down by very dry naan breads, the one thing that you don't want to chew on. Compared to other restaurants in the vicinity, it needs to up the game there.

I will never go to this place again. First of all, the manager was absolutely headstrong and rude to us when we politely asked for him to take our order. There were flies around our table and a spider on my napkin. We inquired it with the manager and he, after asking about it with another table who said there were no flies, said that we were lying. He also ignorantly said that if we weren't satisfied with the state of the restaurant we should just go. So we just left. Whilst leaving, the same manager uttered phrases such as the F word. Absolutely appalling. Staff are blind to complaints made by costumers. Wouldn't recommend going here.

Very poor service n arogant loud n foul mouthed waiter. Horrible food hygine -found pesky flies n crawling spider across table. Unaccetable behaviour from waiter when raised regarding the same. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Seriously the staff should retrain them selves to be in the business. So arrogant.

Had a take away ordered lamb madras and veg rice could not believe when I got it home how much broccoli and what seemed like frozen mixed veg on it never had this on a madras before and we’ll disappointed lived in Balsall common for years and been a while since I went here and will he years again sorry but not sure why was expected

Ordered butter chicken- but its not like the authentic butter chicken. Disappointed. If u know what real indian/pakistani/bengali food tastes like then this is a definite not to go to place.

Service was dreadful, and although you could make excuses as we were a large group, for a lot of the time we were the only people in the restaurant. We had to wait over 1.5 hrs for our main courses to arrive, one was cold and had to be sent back, others were warm but not hot. The service wasn't great and you didn't feel welcome. The food itself was indifferent, some of us had quite decent food, but my lamb was quite tough and had quite a lot of sinewy bits. There was little spice heat in the dishes particularly the naga curries, Considering some of the previous reviews this was a particularly disappointing experience

We stayed at the Premier Inn while exhibiting at an expo at the NEC and ended up eating at the Masala Club 2 nights in a row because it was so good! Merlin (forgive me if I've spelled your name wrong) and the other staff were fantastic. He made sure we had everything we needed, suggested dishes we'd like and the food was exquisite. Many dishes we had not seen before!

Horrible experience waited 1 and a half hours for our food and didn’t come our multiple people had the same experience wouldn’t recommend and I am definitely not doing there again

We’ve been going to Masala Club for many years and the food has always been good. However the staff are all so unfriendly that it spoils the dining experience. Not one member of staff smiled the whole evening. We all enjoyed our meals as usual. Come on guys, look as if you want customers to be there!!

We went for a family meal and the restaurant looks alright, it's open plan so no booths so it's very noisy and hard to hear each other talking, the food took ages to come but my sizzling tikka was amazing so tender and full of flavour it really was delicious, my partners a vegetarian so had alu gobi and a nan bread but it came dry with no sauce which she wasn't too happy with and there was 0 complaints on the food quality apart from that,

2nd visit…. first dined in faultless 2nd time today foodcollected. Popodoms very stale ….speaks volumes about a restuarant 2 dishes Chicken Tilka Masala poor . Overloaded with thick slices of garlic Rice stodgy . King Prawn Massala smells too fishy ….won’t revisit eating in or out

Food was solid, the Lamb Karahi didn’t have tender meat and the onion flavours weren’t balanced with the other spices. Keema naan was lacking in flavour and 3 poppadoms came to £5.80 which was a little steep. Overall it wasn’t bad but nothing special.

Great place for mid week catch-up with some old friends. Excellent food expertly prepared by the chef to our taste. Service was superb despite Merlin not being there that night.

Tried here as the reviews were so good but we were left a little disappointed. On entry to the restaurant the carpet was dirty and needed sweeping not the best start. We waited a little while to be asked if we wanted drinks and when we did order they took ages to come despite the restaurant only being a third full. The waiter who took our order came over and said you need to choose your food now please, but abrupt we thought but we ordered. Second drinks too even longer to come I had to ask three times in the end. The food was average, good sizes portions of curry but rice portions were small. Wasn’t the Cheapest for the food we had - we wouldn’t return.

A very clean restaurant with friendly staff. I’d happily go again. However if I do go again I’ll be far more vociferous in requesting a second pint of beer. No matter who I asked all I got was “Certainly Sir”. Very polite, but no beer. The meal was tasty and plentiful. Mmmmm balti.

After being recommended this restaurant, we looked forward to eating here but ended up with mixed feelings. Starters were fine and the mains were reasonably tasty, if a little hotter than expected, and good portions, so no complaints there. The problem was the windy after-effects, with bubbly stomachs and several trips to the bathroom over the course of the night. Won't go again.

Came here because merkatt meals gave me buy one get one free! Ahmed and staff we’re very accommodating and gave us exceptional service. Prawn balti and mixed was beautiful, full of flavour not oily and didn’t walk away with yellow fingers. Definitely will be coming...

Worst visit ever to this restaurant.. Sat down at 730 pm.. Our main course arrived 9 30 pm which consisted of 4 lukewarm dishes and cold rice!! They were too busy sering to takeaway orders to bother with their seated customers.. Won't be going back...

Had a meal last night and the place was dead, it took over an hour to get our starters. I had a starter I didn't order then my starter came with my main, I couldn't eat it as it was tasteless. They did give us drinks as an apology but it was a spoilt evening.

I am hugely disapointed as a local at the quality of the dishes & service provided by The Masala Club recently, I am not sure if they are short staffed, the chef has changed or the staff generally lack basic communication but it is clear The Masala Club do not value their regular customers.Two weeks in a row now they have got our order wrong.. at £9 for a veggie saag dish it is made with frozen veg, specifically asked for no potatoes & no joke there was a whole half of potato in the dish!! The other dish I asked for mild was inedibly hot - total waste of money. When only last week we had to drive back to the restaurant to return a veggie dish that contained chicken, with no offer for a refund as a gesture of good will considering we had to make two journeys..Well disappointed, will not be spending our money here again.

Honestly the best Indian restaurant/takeaway for miles around. This is our local Indian so we have takeaways from here frequently and sometimes eat in (would do this more often but I love my pyjamas too much!). The staff are SO friendly and can’t do enough for you. The food is consistently good whether in the restaurant or taking away - always tastes amazing and great portion sizes. Truly could not fault them, thank you for your wonderful service guys and can’t wait to see you again soon!!

We were delighted by the authentic South Indian main course. The spices and flavors were extremely impressive.The service was above excellent from the waiter sitting us down to holding the door for us on exit I can’t fault a thing. The elder gentlemen who took our order was brilliant with the recommendations especially being lactose intolerant it can be a challenge sometimes however he knew what he was talking about took the time to hear me and then gave me the relevant information I needed to make my choice. The food came out on a large tray and everything was piping hot the waiter served us with a smile and made sure to check how we got on.. young waiters both very smartly dressed and very polite!We left a tip on the table and exited the restaurant with a smile!Overall, I enjoyed our experience. They did take the time to make the table ready, the main course was good, the staff was caring.I’d love to visit again. I'd recommend it as a nice place to go with friends, family, or a partner. Do try their famous Rajeshwari it’s to die for.

I remember our first time using the Masala Club (as our usual diner is under new management and is no longer what it used to be…) However we were not to be disappointed the food was great I had the Lamb Tawa. I can’t live without it now.The waiter who took our order and was great with the recommendations. Great staff too very attentive looked after us all night. I remember thinking we have found our new spot ! Prices are very reasonable considering the quality. Now we use Masala normally once a week or fortnightly, food is second to none for taste , the staff are more than friendly and always maintain a caring attitude to attending all the customers, I have been to many surrounding Indian restaurants on invite for celebratory meals and always been disappointed as the standard of food was always below par. This place never used to have a delivery service it was introduced at the start of the pandemic and I am very grateful it was my saving grace through two lonely weeks of isolating with the restaurant sending me free items whether it wad some bahgees or kebabs it’s these little things that sets this place apart.I will stay loyal and food happy at the Masala Club , the owner always makes a habit to talk to all his customers and have a laugh and a joke with them, definitely worth a visit 10 out of 10 !!Long Live Masala Club.

Me and my partner were recommended this place by a work colleague we decided to visit for our anniversary. Have to say the food was fantastic came out sizzling hot, steam coming out the dishes the young lad Cameron who served us was so polite and so attentive. We will definitely be returning the only downside is that we have to travel a bit to get here however definitely worth the trip would give 10 Stars!!! Compliments to the chef and management !!

Terrible service, rude, sat for well over an hour this evening Friday waiting for food. No apology - waiters didn’t speak just threw the food on table! Shocking! Food was only warm! No meat in curry! I was suggested by one of my colleague at the NEC as he had given this place a shot and said it was great and the food is truly outstanding. I was extremely excited about giving it a shot so I chose to give my better half a treat for her birthday I had a drawn out day at work and I was anticipating the experience. Yet, soon as we ventured into the restaurant we were welcomed by a youthful chap who took us to the table then they vanished no place to be seen. After around 10 minutes one more waiter came to us with the menu and left. Then, at that point, another waiter came who took our beverages and papadums order before we even got the beverages an old chap came to take our order and we said we haven't had our beverages or papadums yet neither one of us checked out the menu since we had them after ten minutes! He left without an expression of remorse. In matter of 20 minutes since we strolled in we were served by 5 distinct waiters and not a single one of them understand how they are treating all. I encountered experienced nothing like that in an eatery. Very horrendous assistance absence of correspondence zero experience it resembles visiting a zoo. I didn't have a clue about my colleague abhorred me such a huge amount to suggest me a spot like this. It was the most humiliating snapshot of my life and I'm truly disturbed with regards to it. At long last when we were prepared to provide the order we needed to wave at one of the waiter then they sent somebody to take our order the chap took order looked depleted and extreamly hopeless didn't prescribe any dish to us just accepted the way things are. When we made the order it required close to 60 minutes for the food to show up for two person?? Other tables were served that came in after us I can't really accept that this experience it is a bad dream frankly. I have significantly more to grumble about yet tragically can't compose a lot on here. I will post this experience on my social media so anybody I know can avoid this place since I don't need them to encounter what I have encountered today we can't spend our well deserved cash on a spot like this. They don't deserve to be in business. Disgrace on you.- 0 Costomer care- 0 correspondence- 0 mindful- 0 experience- Misarable- Pricy- Normal food taste- No administration- Significant delay- Confused staffs

The starter was very nice and my wife said hers was okay too. We had to wait almost an hour for the main course to arrive! As for the main course, very disappointed. Very salty which wasn't nice at all. I had a chicken balti and my wife had a chicken pathia, both were extremely salty and watery and the chicken in both dishes was definitely couple of days old. our main waiter who hardly said anything to us, hardly made eye contact, didn't smile once and constantly yawned and smacked his chops while taking our order or clearing things away. The other waiters who came to our table seemed equally surly and bad tempered. They thought that it was ok to move our half drunk glasses by grabbing them around the top so that our lips would make contact with whatever they had been handling previously. It was the most bizzare experience we had ever had in a restaurant and the rudest and poorest service we have ever had and we have been in lots of Indian restaurants so that is saying something. They did a huge discredit to Indianfood and to their culture I'm afraid. We won't be visiting again.

I was quite dissatisfied with the service! I'm not one for writing reviews, but this was necessary! This is unnecessary for our community. We paid a visit over the weekend, and the personnel appeared exhausted and lost in their own world, indicating poor management. It's been a while since we last visited, and a lot has changed since then. The staff is not at all attentive, and they are always on their phones or talking with each other’s behind the bar which is very rude. On the restroom entrance, there is no warning that there is a hazard, which I nearly stumbled over. Please be careful, as I will not be returning. Not to be recommended!!!

We went here for my sons birthday having not been for a few years and wish we hadn't bothered. Service was extremely poor staff were more interested on what was keeping them occupied on their phones. Food plentiful but mediocre. No draft beer just overpriced bottled beer. Big disappointment & would not reccommend.

I decided to visit for the first time after reading the reviews on 31.01.21. I booked a table for 7pm after waiting over 1.30 hours I decided to walk what made it worse. The manager did not apologise and still charged me for the drinks. I should have charged him for my time and convenience. The manager was busy at the time I guess if I walked out this was no big deal but hopefully you need to be prepared to be ignored. Very poor service I recommend the Bengali Braissiere down the road there food is the best I have tasted

Shambles. Booked for 8pm, they tried to give our table to someone that just walked in. They held us at our table for 50 minutes refusing to take our order. When I complained to the manager, we got someone to come over to our table for the order. They said good would be at least an hour.One couple left after waiting 90 minutes. Another couple left having waited 2 hours for food. Warned us not to stay.They are only interested in takeaway. They are not interested in motel customers. We have used both the restaurant and takeaway for the 15 years we have lived in the village.Tonight, they lost our business. All our business!

I have to doubt previous reviews on this place. The place ruined not just our but many families New Years Eve. People we walking out due to 2 hour waits for food and one family waited an hour for them to take the order and in the end walked away. The staff in particular manager or owner was rude and didn’t seem to care. Don’t deserve to be in business. Food arrived after two hours and my daughter found hair in hers and they had to replace it. After that none of felt like eating and left most. Will never return which is a shame as I like to support local businesses but not this one. Absolute disgrace

Celebrating a birthday, all the staff at Masala Club were friendly and helpful. We were all given a complimentary shot and our friend got an extra one for his birthday. Food was brilliant and the service was great! Would recommend and go back.

Great mix of traditional and regional specialities. We went for Lamb Dakeswari, Chicken Rajeswari and a chicken and chickpea dish. Sensational flavours combinations, friendly chatty staff and a good ambiance in the restaurant. Toilets on the same floor are easily accessible. Wonderful eating experience.

Have had a takeaway from here 2 weekends running, both absolutely delicious. Great quality, you can tell the chicken is good quality and not processed. The portions are generous and overall good value. 3 curries, 6 sides and poppadoms for a total of £44. Looks nice to eat in too with friendly staff.

Really special food at The Masala Club this evening. We had a group of seven yet the orders arrived in timely fashion and were some of the best Indian dishes we had tasted. Do NOT be put off by the apparently severe staff, they are just being efficient and professional and there is a smile in there too! Recommended absolutely.

Below average Indian food, nothing great. Curries are very same same, thick gravey with different colours, not very flavoursome at all. I wouldn't recommend.

In The Midlands for a couple of nights and just happened upon Masala Club in Google search. Glad we did as not only was the food exceptional, the staff were the friendliest people you could wish to meet. Happy to chat and genuine, could tell the locals love this place as staff happy to stand and chat at tables. Was so impressed we ended up going back again the following evening and again was blown away by both food and service.Hope Ahmed will put the football we are sending with the other ones on display

I visited this restaurant this evening and didn’t want to complain at the time but we never actually got what we ordered. We ordered set menu A. I received Chicken Tikka pieces NOT Chicken Tikka Masala. We received NO side dishes with our meal. I feel slightly ripped off! SET MEAL A £49.95 STARTER Popadom with Chutney Chicken Shaslick, Prawn Puree MAIN COURSE Chicken Tikka Masala Lamb Tikka Bhoona SIDE DISHES Saag Cream, Pilau Rice and Naan 2 persons Contains Gluten, Nuts and Dairy.

Thank you to the team, we’ve been here for over four years, my son has disabilities and doesn’t tolerate many places Masala’s make every time special thoroughly go above service and always try hard to make something special for him to try and eat. Avoid**** the main guy on the till is so rude!! Never returning back, the food is nice but the service I’ve never had that before in my life. Came here twice, first time he was rude on phone and when i was there but we thought we would give it a second chance and go again as it was nice food. And wow ended in a big argument, he tried robbing us with extra on the bill. Lucky we asked for receipt. Also a lady who was around 50 was arguing with him as she waited 1 hour for her food collection. And he kept saying one minute there putting it in the bag now. 12 minutes later still no food she walked out shouting at him. He’s a liar and a fraud. Also then we over heard him slag the old lady off which was unprofessional.
