A discreet birthday lunch à quatre in a full restaurant, where we were nonetheless promptly and amiably looked after. What a superb soufflé we all had, followed by the Indonesian dishes and lovely desserts from the Marwick's well-prized menu! With a bottle of Pinot Grigio and four coffees, £163. Well worth the money!

My wife booked afternoon tea and on arrival the booking had been messed up a bit and we were only expected for tea and scones. We pointed out the mistake and they could not have reacted better. They apologised unreservedly, created a lovely tea in a very short space of time, provided excellent, attentive service and also offered a little compensation for the mix up. The food was good, the service superb and the reaction to the mistake was exceptional. Would recommend

My partner pre-booked a table for afternoon tea as we were staying locally for a few days. The service was extremely good and we decided to sit outside under a parasol which was delightful and cool in the gardens, overlooking the road and people walking by. Sadly, the food was not as good as we had hoped. The 3-layered tea stand arrived and the sandwiches on the lower level were OK but pretty tasteless, with seemingly no seasoning. Two scones each on the middle layer were OK but not very light and, although there was clotted cream and jam, I didn't see the need to have a pot of lemon curd too. There were also two shortbread rounds which, again, I felt was too much. The top layer had a vast variety of overly sweet desserts but, by then, we really had no appetite for them. However, the kind waiter brought a box for us to take them away for later, which I have to admit we never ate. The surroundings were delightful but there was way too much food and I noticed another table had also left quite a lot of their food too.

Staff were slow considering it wasn’t busy and we had to ask 3 times for our side to come, arrived after we had finished our mains. Big lunch portion and tasted delicious! Don’t feel the service charge should have been added to the bill, it’s awkward to ask to have it taken off, some of the staff deserved it but others didn’t! £15.60 for 2 pints of lemonade!!! Lovely building, garden and location, and food was OK. But yet again customer service was poor. They display a great lunch/dinner menu but only after going in do you find they offer it at certain times, otherwise just over-priced small portion bar snacks. Waiter service was mediocre, wasn’t made to feel like a valued customer - and they tried to charge a service fee too!

Apologies for being so late in reviewing the splendid Christmassy, sparkling, afternoon tea that my husband and I enjoyed in December 2022. We were given a gift voucher for this fabulous treat and we both had a wonderful time, sampling the myriad delights served to us by the delightful staff members. We have no hesitation in recommending the afternoon tea and the meals being served, also, looked fabulous, too. Each member of staff was charming and friendly and made us both feel valued customers. We were given a box of treats that we couldn't manage to eat at the afternoon tea, to bring home. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Marwick's Brasserie at The Millstream Hotel, Bosham. Thank you to everyone there, who made our afternoon so special. x

Four of us for supper, food and service very good. Very comfortable lounge for aperitif while we all arrived, excellent range of wine by the glass and no canned music!!! Thank you. This is a gem of a place providing a slice of what we romantically think of as an “old English country hotel”, albeit with really good food that may not have been the case back in the day. We met two friends for lunch and had interesting food, well presented and attentive service. We had the oval table in the window which was large and very pleasant. Probably strange for us to to say but the service was a little too quick between courses as we finished one course the next was delivered immediately to the table. The Romanian waiter was very efficient but sadly lacking sufficient English for any interaction. With the Gourmet Society’s discount of 25% the bill came to £67 per couple with drinks. The three course lunch in the “fine dining” area is £27.50 with coffee so probably better value. Not quite an “excellent” but they are trying hard.

At the begging of this year, I travelled to Bosham near Chichester. We celebrated my husband’s birthday in Millstream hotel – a small, boutique hotel and on the last day of our stay we decided to have a Sunday lunch at Marwick’s Brasserie.Location:Marwick’s Brasserie is located in the center of Bosham village in The Millstream hotel. It can be easily reached by car from Portsmouth or Chichester – the drive takes around 20 minutes.Atmosphere:The brasserie creates a welcoming atmosphere with informal surroundings and lots of natural daylight. Our table was attended by a few waiters thought-out the afternoon. They were all friendly and professional. The menu:Marwick’s Brasserie features traditional favourites that change during the seasons. The dishes are prepared using the best ingredients most of them sourced locally.Starters:I decided to order one of the most popular dishes – a twice baked blue cheese soufflé with cheddar and spring onion sauce. It was simply amazing. I love cheese and soufflés so I this starter was perfect. My husband decided to have some free range chicken terrine with mayonnaise and pickled chanterelles with crackers. It was delectable.Mains:There was a nice selection of mains on the menu but as it was Sunday – my husband decided to have a traditional Sunday roast of English beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and red wine gravy.I ordered fillet of bream with a lovely shellfish bisque, crushed new potatoes, spinach, and crab beignet. It was flavoursome.Desserts:My husband decided not to have any dessert as he was full however as I have a very bad sweet tooth, I had some sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice-cream and toffee sauce. It was delish!Overall experience:We both really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Marwick’s brasserie. Both service and food were great so if you ever in the area then you should definitely experience it yourself.

A very warm welcome and pleasant service continued, the interior was comfortable and refined with a nice ambience and the food was really good! There were some interesting choices on the menu and I liked that you could also have sandwiches as well as a main etc at lunchtime along with 'nibbles' being offered. There seemed to be a good offering of gluten-free alternatives for visitors who require this. The exterior was very pretty and if the car park is full you're able to claim back the cost of parking in the nearby car park. Would recommend and I really hope to visit again.

My partner and I have been wanting to visit Marwick's for some time now. We were given a voucher to use so this was the perfect opportunity. We had high expectations which was quickly let down mainly because of the lack of customer service. We had an early reservation so when we arrived there was no one else in the restaurant. We were greeted by a waiter who took our voucher and said for us to choose a seat and someone will come out to take our order. We chose to sit outside. We waited 35 minutes until someone came to take our drinks order and even then I had to ask for a drinks menu. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but we were the first to arrive. Other customers who arrived after us were served straight away. Once our food order was taken it was quick to come out. The food itself was nice but in my opinion very overpriced for what it is. When we asked for the bill, they didn't take off our voucher and then had the audacity of adding a 10% service charge. I believe I am patient but to wait 35 minutes just to be acknowledged is very poor. We wont be going back to Marwick's.

We spent 3 days in June staying at the Millstream Hotel (see separate review for the hotel). On the first evening we ate at the Marwick's Brasserie, which is at the hotel. All 4 of us liked the meal very much, so decided to eat there again on the second evening. And...we ate there again on the third evening, because the food was excellent and it seemed pointless to go and look for a good meal somewhere else. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a good choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. The desserts were particularly good. They were not too sweet or heavy, with lovely flavours. Wines were also very nice. The staff were efficient and helpful. Excellent food in lovely surroundings

Last time we ate here it was really enjoyable, but I was somewhat disappointed this time round.I chose a Lymington seafood risotto which sounded delicious and the picture on the waiter's phone looked impressive. So, for £17.50 I had great expectations! I didn't expect an enormous portion, but thought there would have been a little more than I received for a main course. It was arranged very nicely in the dish but I found the risotto itself a little too wet for the texture. Another member of our group felt the same as I, so it wasn't just me! Some of the choices seemed to go down well. The cod and chips is another story - really nice with a beautifully light tempura batter - wished I had chosen instead of the risotto.Prices had also risen sharply since my last visit.Staff were extremely polite and helpful and a lovely place in which to eat - just somewhat disappointed with the food.

We enjoyed another meal here with friends. Even when busy, it seems quietly civilised.Elements of the menu change frequently, though the twice-baked souffle, a popular favourite with regulars seems always available. It is very good. Our meal included lamb, delicately and succulently pink, hake and chicken salads. Puddings included an impressive Knickerbocker Glory. We enjoyed it all, including the house red wine and friendly service. But the chewy toffees, served with the bill, were a strange and unwelcome addition; chocolates or mints would have been so much better at the end of an otherwise very pleasant meal. We first encountered the after dinner toffee touch a few weeks ago and thought it was an inappropriate one off forced, by running out of something better. After dinner toffees still seem a pity at the second time round.

We have been to Marwicks on several occasions for afternoon tea as we live just down the road from it but we've never been there for dinner and yesterday my other half treated me to my birthday dinner there and we will definitely be going there again. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable and they made me feel very special by going that extra mile with my special birthday dessert. Make sure you give it a try, you definitely won't be disappointed!

Went to this bistro for the last night of a three night stay in the area, Good ambiance although the lighting was a bit bright. Staff very attentive and competent. Food superb, I started with the blue cheese soufflé with spring onion sauce followed by the chicken dish. Finished off with the chocolate mousse. All very good. My wife no complaints with her fish pie. Taste wise this was very good. I finished with a brandy liquor coffee which was one of the best I've had. A bit more expensive than other restaurants in the area but well worth it.

This hotel has a restaurant and this bistro; the two are nearly continuous physically, and the prices aren't even that different. I thought the food was better than one might expect, and the service a bit uneven. There certainly is no reason to go out of your way to eat here, but if you are staying in the hotel it is not a bad choice.

Situated just 5 miles off the A 27 (just off the Chichester By-Pass), this little gem is well worth the small detour. Part of the Millstream Hotel, half the restaurant is the formal dining room, and the far end is the Brasserie. We were lucky as we did not book, but were fitted in by very friendly helpful staff. This is the first time we have been back for a number of years, but the excellent quality has not changed. The soufflé is "to die for" - my wife's words, but I agree, and the crab ball in a mild curry sauce is fabulous. Add to this a superb smoked fish pie (not just one or two prawns but lots and lots of fish as well as lots of prawns, and we drove on our way afterwards very well pleased with our stop..

We ate here on a Sunday evening. The brasserie was quiet when we arrived, but filled up a bit during the course of the evening. The cheese soufflé and duck rillette starters are wonderful, and I can honestly say that the venison casserole is one of the best dishes I have ever had. To put that in context, we are fortunate enough to eat out quite a bit in London. The staff were friendly, and attentive. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Family party of 3. One roast was disappointing, other roast was OK, fish dish was excellent. Service was over attentive and not coordinated! For example, asked by 3 different people in short time if we wanted to order puddings when each person was told could we wait 5 mins. All a little rushed.

We were given a gift voucher to eat here, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food is well cooked and attractively served by attentive and friendly staff. The car park is sometimes limited but we managed to squeeze in. We returned for a second visit and enjoyed the food equally .... if you visit for lunch rather than dinner, there are some lovely walks locally - one leading down to the sea and to Bosham Arts and Crafts Centre, making a lovely day out.

This brasserie is part of the relatively small Mill Stream hotel and I find offers a more relaxed atmosphere than the main restaurant. There is free parking in the hotel car park and there were several free spaces available on this visit. It is in Bosham which is a beautiful area with good walks and beautiful countryside near the sea.For this visit we went in the evening. When we arrived the place was relatively empty and we had a pick of several tables, though it did start to fill up over the later evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and not noisy allowing for easy conversation. The brasserie offers a more limited menu (on this visit 9 main course options were available including the use of some local ingredients), and most of the choices were part of a fixed price option. Everybody easily found something they liked. It uses the same kitchen as the main restaurant and I always feel that the food is cooked well.We were offered drinks and chose a very good Malbec and water was provided. There was a choice of 3 breads including a bacon and cheese which was unusual but tasty, and we were offered addition bread. The olives were good.We selected the fish, which this time was a bream with a shellfish bisque which came with potatoes and asparagus - I didn’t need any sides. The fish was delicious (as always). For dessert I had a banana concoction with peanut butter ice-cream which had an interesting mix of flavours. We finished with a good coffee. The service was attentive at all times, without being in any way intrusive and there was no pressure to finish the meal. There is a loyalty scheme for repeat visitors.Overall good food, good service and value for money in a relaxing atmosphere and recommended for locals and visitors to the area alike. One tip for visitors (if you are not staying in Bosham) - if you are driving to this restaurant, the roads in Bosham are mainly unlit and are a little narrow. In addition, the speed limits on the main A road to get to Bosham can be counter-intuitive, there is a speed camera and the occasionally the police set up speed checks. This has put local people off going to Bosham generally and I would personally see it as a real shame if good restaurants like this close as a result.

A friend hired Marwick's for her birthday lunch recently. I was impressed by this modern yet cosy brasserie. The small garden is pretty and perfect for pre-lunch drinks. The staff were brilliant. The food was lovely. We were split into four tables of around 5 people at each. We had sharer plates on the table for starters then a hot silver service buffet. The most impressive was the whole seabass. Wow! Tasty and perfectly cooked. Worthy of a photograph. All in all a nice place to eat.

Mum and I were out having a ride in her Porsche and we were in the area so decided to have a meal at Marwick's. We have both been here several times before and we love the fixed price menu. We always opt for the twice baked cheese soufflé as a starter and it was just as moreish as ever. I had sea bream for my main course and mum had crab. Both were heavenly. The staff are always smart and attentive. Cracking service.

Having eaten several times in the Anchor Bleu in the past we felt it was time to eat here. The tea and breakfast menu is extensive, but the lunch one less so but the upmarket salads and fish and chips were excellent as was the friendly service. Good choice of wines nicely cooled on a very hot day and excellent filter coffee for me and cappachino for Di. The crab salad & the chicken and chorizo salads are to be applauded, so filling on a hot day that we had no room for dessert. Not cheap at £15 & £12 respectively and £5.50 each for the chilled Prosecco but worth every penny.

Really liked this little cafe sited almost in the centre of a boat yard. It is exceptionally dog friendly (which was useful as we were on a dog walk/explore) with water bowls everywhere outside and free dog biscuits inside. Coffee was great and really hot and the cakes delicious. The sausage rolls are a knife and fork meal on their own! I deducted a star only because choice was rather limited, but it's not a place you would go to especially for food anyway. The other star deducted only because there is no view. One has to walk on a little way to reach the harbour. Lots of dry docked boats to look at though.
