Great evening atmosphere and friendly service. Staff were very accommodating and reasonable prices for how nice it is inside.

Such a relaxing atmosphere, with good staff. Third visit in two weeks, with some great tasting tapas, amazing wine. Their Chorizo in honey sauce and Fabada Austriana are stand out dishes, and the selection of wines is great. Can't speak enough on the venue.

Martinez Wine Bar, its small but perfect! Always a lovely ambience & a wonderful welcome from the owner & the staff, they serve a lovely little range of tapas and the wine selection is second to none. This place never disappoints ! If its near Christmas time, make sure you call in and try their mulled wine, its the best around

Fantastic wine shop. The owner really welcomes you and it’s a great place to sit and savour a glass - or two - recommend the tapas too - really excellent. The cheese was Devine and definitely try the pecorino with truffle it’s the best, you can buy to take home They were very busy but still took time to chat and our waitress was so helpful - only wish we lived nearer

Have been to the shop which is great but on this visit we went to their blues night in the cellar bar-excellent!! Amazing choice of wines and drinks and tapas plates too.. and of course great music 👍

First visit in a couple of weeks to our favourite bar and disappointed to find the brilliant bar manager, Greg, has left. Great shame. He was a huge part of the bars success. Last evening the atmosphere there was terrible which for a Thursday is so unusual. We left after one drink.

A regular haunt but never disappointed. Always a friendly welcome and THE best wine in Ilkley. I defy anyone to not find a wine here they love. And if you can’t find one, they’ll find one for you!!

I’m a regular here at Martinez wine bar - the wine selection is second to none, as well as the expertise of Bar Manager, Greg, never steering you wrong in a recommendation! The rustic traditional tapas is always excellent particularly their homemade hummus and cheese selection! You are in for a treat when you visit, so if your in Ilkley make sure this ones on your list!

Regular visitor to this cozy basement bar in Ilkley, located beneath the long established Martinez wine shop. By far the best wines ( both in selection and quality) and most friendly staff in Ilkley. Tapas simple but always good and at sensible prices. What’s not to like!!

Brilliant little gem tucked away in the cellar of the wonderful wine shop. Wine selection superb with a great atmosphere. Greg, the bar manager, has really lifted the bar since joining Martinez. Absolutely outstanding, friendly, really helpful and knowledgeable about his products with the added bonus of providing the coolest music. His other staff are as equally friendly, attentive and helpful. Great venue with a relaxed vibe to have a quite but superb drink and chill (with the added bonus of being able to sit outside in the summer).

Super little place. Great wine and gin selection. Don’t worry though if you fancy a beer you’re also in luck. Staff are super and Greg has done wonders for the atmosphere, with a chilled out relaxed vibe. I’ve not eaten there yet, but we’ve promised ourselves to attend one of the wine and cheese evenings next month. It’s ridiculously underrated, so do yourself a favour and visit this hidden gem. Don’t forget if you find a blindingly good wine (which is likely) you can purchase a bottle to take home. Or you can browse amongst the 500+ wines in the shop on the ground floor. Enjoy!!

Honest? We bought some wine here, then two days later, from a another store found the exact same wine at half the price.

We happened up Martinez wine bar whilst on a weekend break and what a find.

We’ve been here a number of times and just can’t keep away! The room is cosy and intimate, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, the wine fantastic and the tapas very tasty. By far our favourite bar in Ilkley.

Really good tapas, wonderful atmosphere, good wine and friendly staff! In the center of Bingley, a stop that anyone who loves wine and chilling should do! And live music! What else??

Martinez was a great venue for an intimate birthday party. Chris really looked after us and allowed us to change and adapt things to how we wanted it to be. Of course the wine choice was excellent which suited the picky guests. Had a great night - Thank you Martinez team.

I am a regular here and have been since before the bar even opened! Great staff and fabulous selection of drinks, plus good offers for reasonable prices.

Whenever we are in this area, we call in for a nosey around the wines, usually purchasing more than planned.

Started our evening off here with slingsbys rhubarb gin and tonic perfect! Fantastic selection of wines by the glass or bottle but can get very noisy as you are in a cellar with no sound proofing but as a good atmosphere,the tapas that was being served looked very appalling so may try that next time

Called for a snack whilst visiting Ilkley. Everything was just great. Nibbles and then down to the celler bar what choice, as Arnie said "I'll be back.

What a great place to buy wine and spirits, really knowledgeable staff to help select a purchase if required.

Cuando voy a visitar amigos en Ilkley vamos a wine bar Martínez. Situado en la bodega bajo su tienda de vinos, nunca nos ha decepcionado con la calidad del vino, la cerveza, la comida o el servicio. Tienen más probabilidades de ser decepcionado por la falta de una mesa, ya que es bastante pequeño. Las tapas son de buena calidad y casero. Recomiendo el fabadas y albondigas. No creo que pueda reservarle una mesa.

Me encanta este lugar. Gran selección de vinos de barril. Más de 20 CREO. Es mi bar más cercano, así que un poco m sesgado. Pero es simplemente genial. Acogedor y cálido. Las tapas son excelentes y muy bien de precio. Sencillo pero satisfactorio. Es un poco en las afueras de la ciudad, enfrente, así que puedes fácilmente carrulicos perderás. Pruébalo. Es bajar las escaleras, pero una vez allí es genial :-)

Buenos vinos, limitado repertorio de alimentos (mayormente luz español) pero sabroso. Bar acogedor y agradable para pasar el rato.

Sorry I can't find site for Bingley branch so having to put under Ilkley one!! Visited Bingley Martinez for the first time on Friday night,this was previously the Conservative club. The bar is very nicely decorated with candles on the tables and little fairy lights in bottles. Some nice lighting made from different bottles and a very clever window made up from green and and clear wine bottles outlining a wine glass. Staff were very attentive and the barmaid Michelle very kindly brought over our second bottle of wine and soda when we ordered it. A very enjoyable evening, I also noticed a poster advertising a busking night if anyone wanted to do a spot,a nice change from karaoke. I shall definitely visit again - I am sure Ilkley one is just as good!!

Called in last night and to be honest I really don't understand the bar in a cellar vibe , it was around 8pm and there were about 6 people in the bar all looking bored stiff as no background music or atmosphere. One drink was enough.

The owner is a star, the staff are stars.Oh, and the wine is 5*. Why? Because they love wine, and because they love it (and know it!) it shows. You have to go :-)

Lots of choice , whether it is a Saturday evening bottle or something just that bit more special. The owner knows his stuff and can offer advice on what to would suit your palate. They also do tasting evenings through out the year, check the website for details.

We visit Martinez regularly and it's always been fab. The mixed tapas is great for a light meal and Johnny's meatballs are always popular, there was even a protest when the recipe changed slightly! Loads of wines to choose from in the bar and a renowned wine shop upstairs but the staff will have a bottle of your favourite chilling for you if you are a regular. We love "Buskers Night" which is the last Wednesday of the month, the talent and variety of the musicians (and occasional magician!!) would give the X factor a run for its money!

Went for a drink and a bit to eat with a couple of friends. The meatballs and chorizo stew were both very tasty. Jules the barmen, was very knowledgeable and helpful. He recommended a good aussie pinot noir. Good value night out.

Sorry but it was the Martinez in Bingley. Fabullous! They reserved a party table for us as there were 13 in our group. The service was great, the food (tapas) excellent. We were there for a solemn occassion but they could not have handled it better.

A few drinks after work led to the need for a bite to eat. Not wanting anything heavy we decided on the Martinez for a spot of Tapas. I can only describe this as a schoolboy error! If you want a few nice glasses of wine, I'd gladly recommend. If you want some nice, freshly cooked tapas I'd give it a miss. The food service was average at best, the dishes could have been better but the real turn off was when i watched my hot dish being prepared in a microwave after being spooned out of a plastic container. I suspect this is due to lack of adequate kitchen facilities which in my mind says they are not ready to serve quality food. I think the wine is the way forward for Martinez!

Impossible to drink a bad wine here, especially if you are humble enough to ask the advice of any member of staff.We attend the 'Sipping Society' every month and other events and Martinez is our main wine supplier. If you think the prices are higher than supermarket offerings you are missing the point.And in the wine bar you can indulge yourself by the glass, with outstanding wines at pub prices.

I'm a frequent visitor to Martinez so picking a date wasn't easy. Despite being the Summer we sat inside (there is a small street side outside space to watch the world go by which is always packed in Summer) It is a top quality wine bar with a convivial owner and a knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere is laid back and intimate when quiet but buzzing and noisy when busy. They have regular live music - Cooper Brown a must see. I've never had a bad wine, red, white, rose or fizzy. And I've tried plenty. The tapas menu is small with only one hot dish per night. But it's all delicious and it is a wine bar not a restaurant after all. Highly recommended night out.

A weekend in Yorkshire and we all ended up in a subterranean place called Martinez.All very odd.Ill mannered staff and indifferent wine.They seemed more interested in selling Christmas Trees outside!Time they decided to sell Christmas Trees all year round instead of pretending to be a wine bar.AVOID (unless you want a tree!)

We were searching for a drinking hole before we went for dinner and there were several bars dotted around likely town center, but they were all a bit rammed and same as we could find at home, but we stumbled across Martinez wine bar and several glasses later glad we did. A great host with a great knowledge of wine's, but why wouldn't he with over 100 wines to choose from. We also ended up buying a case of wine from the shop attached.

We love it here. Called in for a quick drink and food. Food is good unfussy tapas, the Asturias amazing. The selection of wine is always good and I have never had a bad choice. Service is ALWAYS good smiley happy people . Love it. The shop upstairs is excellent too.

The wine selection is well chosen, offering a good range of nice quality reds, whites and roses. The wine bar has a lively atmosphere with friendly and efficient staff. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of Rioja and a selection of hot and cold tapas. It's great to find a relaxing bar you can drop into for a simple drink and bite to eat, at a reasonable price.

I know the Martines wine shop for many years. Especially in past years the staff was very friendly and connoisseur. The shop is a great place in Yorkshire for a wide range of great drinks, from champagne to wishky, from the port to the wines!Two Saturdays ago I tried the little place down and I do not like it at all! there was no atmosphere and two incompetent and not elegant girls at the bar... they asked me to pay the bill with a wave of her hand! (I was sitting at a table under the bar, I was not running away, understood, I was just relaxing!) but where we are? in the wine bar or in a pub! but please! if you want to make a wine bar, atmosphere and class are as important as the wine! have you ever been in a place where you drink wine? There is first of all relax! people who works has the mood dictated by the wine drinking! but you want to ruin the big name martinez??!

Tuesdays are best, £10 wines! Bin ends are worth a try and the blackboard wines are reasonably priced. Try before you buy then go upstairs for a phenomenal choice.

This little wine bar - and little is the word, is great it is uncomplicated it has a good atmosphere and it serves good wines and simple tapas. It isn't expensive and it is a really good place to drop in for a glass/bottle of wine and a no nonsense couple of hours. It does get very busy, but that all adds to the atmosphere which is excellent. A great find.

This is a really cosy wine cellar with an amazing assortment of wines and lovely tapas to enjoy with it. I will be back.....

Been here 3 times now whilst visiting friends in Ilkley and plan to call in on every future visit. Wish this bar was in Manchester! Small and cosy with laid back atmosphere, excellent choice of wines, good value tapas and friendly knowledgeable staff. Try it!

The idea behind Martinez is a great one. You have the wine shop on the ground floor and then below in the basement is a cosy little wine bar. Although it’s not very big and seating is at a premium when it’s busy – it does add to the atmosphere. They should consider upping the quality of the Tapas, since it slightly lets the place down – but all in all, it’s a great little spot.

I love the fact that Martinez is first off a great wine shop, made even better by this wine bar in the basement. It's only a small space downstairs (could describe as cosy!) & definitely very friendly! The wine on offer by the glass is always changing & they are always happy for you to try a taster first. Even better you can then by it at a retail price upstairs in the shop. They do a tapas menu, we had the sharer platter for 2 @ £16, which went down perfectly with our chilled French rose. I think this has been a great addition to Ilkley, nearly didn't write a posting in my bid to keep this place to myself!

I totally agree with the last review on here it's such a great find! We were really impressed we could try wines before buying and the lovely bar staff were great. Next time we will try tapas to soak up some of the lovely wine! A truly great little gem

My title says the facts about Martinez, its not really a restaurant; it's a bloody good wine bar.Also, its not by any stretch of the imagination in Leeds, its in Ilkley. Marinez is originally a wine shop, upstairs the shop is still there. So you can buy your wine 2 ways, either by the glass, or buy one of thier hundreds of bottles and add £7 corkage fee to drink it in the bar. The wine by the glass selection is great, so why waste time just drinking one bottle. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and the bar itself quite delightful to drink in. Its actually an underground celler that has been converted 2.5 yrs ago. They serve Tapas as a side deal, which is nice as munchies to help soak up the wine, but don't consider it as a full mean cause thats not what its there for.Fantastic to visit, but the weekends can be chaotically busy.

Great selection of wines from around the world, particular focus on Italian and also Spanish wines taking you way beyond Rioja! Simple food to complement the wine. Friendly and helpful staff. Good atmosphere
