Marrakech Avenue in Kingston upon Hull, City of

I visit this wonderful restaurant every time I work in Hull. I've tried all the tagines on the menu and most of the starters. The food is outstanding, a real flavor explosion. Very friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere, almost feels like being in Morocco.

I absolutely love the food at this place and have been going for years and never before had any issues. We went last week for a last night meal with family and friends for my daughter moving away to Oz. Our service was very different from previous experience, the waiting staff were amazing and handled the evening very well considering the situation. It was very busy and our table was booked for 7 we ordered our starters within probs about 20 mins, we then had over an hour wait before we received them, we then order our mains and by the time they arrived we had actually been here for over 2 hours and it was almost 9:30 before we ate our main meal, we had sides and sauces missing that we had to ask for, by the time some of this came some of us had finished eating as hadn’t eaten much all day knowing we would be eating their amazing food! The waiting staff was apologetic and was litterally running around like headless chickens we decided we should speak to the manager or the chef as we did think it was unacceptable as not once were we told we would be waiting so long, the manager was the chef/owner and came out to speak to me before we left, all the excuses came flooding out, he was blaming customers for turning up late and waiting staff and pretty much everyone else he could when really the issue was clearly in the kitchen, but he wouldn’t take any responsibility at all and wasn’t even apologising! We refused to pay the service charge and felt bad for not leaving a tip (if I would 100% know this would go to the waiting staff I would of) but the attitude of the owner was worse than the service from the kitchen! The way he spoke to his staff aswell was very unprofessional in front of dusters and quite honestly I don’t know why they are even working there!! We ending paying the bill and just leaving without pre checking as my husband wasn’t feeling too great so wanted to leave and when we got home we noticed we had been charged for drinks we didn’t even have (lesson learnt) upon messaging them on the fb page which I usually do they haven’t responded and in fact blocked me which is utterly rude!! Own your mistakes!! Such a shame as loved this place but we are not been treated in this manner

Really beautiful ambience with excellent food and friendly staff. We sat in the back room which is reminiscent of a Bedouin tent. We really didn’t feel like we were in Hull anymore!

We went to Marrakesh Avenue for our anniversary this evening. We had browsed the menu online well in advance and were happy with the prices, so we booked. When we arrived the first thing we noticed is that the prices online did not match those on the menu. For example, the warm salads were £16 rather than the £12 we expected as per the website. My partner ordered the house red wine as this was the only red wine you could order by the glass. When it arrived, she was disgusted by the taste as it tasted strongly of cumin, not a traditional Merlot. She begrudgingly mentioned to the waiter that the wine was not quite to her taste and asked if there was another wine that she could have by the glass. After going away for a few minutes, the waiter offered a second glass and apologised as the wine that my partner had been given was out of a bottle that had been open for a few days. It’s not really acceptable to be serving a bottle of wine that has been open a few days anyway. She also wasn’t happy that she wasn’t offered an alternative when there were many other wines sold in the establishment. For main course I had the Marrakesh Platter which consisted of chicken, lamb and spicy kofta. My partner had the vegetarian tagine. I don’t know if this is just because of our western expectations, however, I expected the couscous to be at least seasoned or spiced, but it had nothing on it whatsoever and was very bland. My partner, having the tagine, would’ve liked some bread to go with the sauce without paying extra expense of £5+. My partner did really enjoy the tagine and said that the olives and the sauce were lovely. My meat was beautifully cooked but my only critique is that for £18 I would’ve perhaps liked a little bit more. We got baklava and a couple of cocktails for dessert and asked if we could take these outside. Our waiter was more than happy to do this for us and was really lovely and sorted our every need. Overall, the ambience was unmatched and really romantic, especially for an occasion of this sort. The music was really good and the lighting and coziness isn’t something we have experienced anywhere else. Aside from the critiques, this really is a hidden gem on The Avenues and we did have a lovely evening.

Suited Saturday evening, lovely cosy venue, we was seated to the back which again is very authentic in design. I opted for falafel starter and chicken tagine for mains both excellent taste quality and portions, think I might have to work through the menu. Highly recommend .

The doctor in this restaurant is very authentic Moroccan - I love the tented fabric ceiling! Great atmosphere. Lovely staff. The food is wonderful. Vegetarian and vegan options available.

Visited this week. We booked online and had no issues with the booking process, quick response. When we arrived there was a big party in the front and were given the option of where we wanted to sit, decided to sit in the back. The back of the restaurant is like a bedouin tent inside, lovely moroccan decoration and detailing around. The service was good and not rushed at all so we could enjoy the place and our meals. Good selection of food and drinks. We had the chicken parcel and falafel starters, followed by a spicy sausage tagine and lamb tagine, with Baclawa for desert. All food was delicious and good portions...could easily have a starter each and share a main, but wouldnt get to try as many yummy dishes. Can't fault the food at all. Price is more than reasonable...£73 for three alcoholic drinks, two starters, two mains and a desert. Overall lovely visit and will be coming again. Would recommend requesting a table in the back.

Absolutely loved our meal 10 out of 10 and highly recommend. Our food was so full of flavours and presented so well. Also having Vegetarian and even vegan option, really good prices and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The waiter was extremely helpful very friendly, we got to Also meet the owner and he was lovely. The decor was beautiful and comfortable, this has got to be the best place we have eaten at in Hull.

Excellent service from the staff, the perfect mixture of polite and attentive. The food is exceptionally well priced, and excellent both in taste and presentation. Highly recommend as a first date spot due to its luxurious and interesting decoration, provides plenty of conversational opening and is accompanied by the best food to be had on princes avenue. The staff are incredibly accommodating and I've thoroughly enjoyed myself, a frequent patron and shall revisit many times in the future . Set menu has plenty of variety and is a great sample of what is surely a thoroughly competent cook

It is ten years since we used to go to this place regularly. We left the city and we still think this is the best restaurant in Hull. Lovely to be greeted so warmly by the owner. The place is as lovely as ever and the food was great. Hope we can go back again soon.

I ate here tonight and hadn’t been for ten years. The falafel was the best I had ever tasted and the hummus was delicious. Our tagines were tasty and spicy (we had gone for the spicy option). The waitress was absolutely fantastic. What an absolute asset to this restaurant she is. We were sat at a table when a group of ‘tipsy’ and loud (but pleasant) men came and sat with their friends next to us. She discreetly asked if we would like to swap to another table which we did. The service was absolutely faultless and I would go back based on the wonderful waitress alone (I suspect she may have been the manager as she clearly knew exactly what she was doing whilst being super friendly with all customers). We left wondering why we had left so long between visits (as we had loved it years ago). Ps I’m a vegetarian and the food was great (fab for vegans too with lots of choice). The restaurant is very beautifully decorated with a real holiday feel. I already look forward to going back and won’t be waiting another ten years.

We were a walk-in party of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) for an early evening meal. Fantastic food, great atmosphere. The staff did a good job of looking after us.

Visited Hull at the weekend and decided to try this restaurant .It’s the first time that we have tried Moroccan cuisine but it certainly won’t be the last.The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful . I had the chicken tagine whilst my hubby had the meatball tagine , followed by delicious deserts - a tasty and fulfilling meal. The staff greeted us with a friendly and welcoming manner , the place had a great atmosphere, it was authentic , cosy and relaxing. We would certainly recommend it - 10 /10 from us !

Such a lovley place food is excellent everything fresh and tasty server's made you feel welcome as well.

We booked this restraunt one evening but we had confusion on whether it was booked or not, after getting their around 19:00 but said 20:00 they could do, ans said they they could actually do around 19:30. We went for a drink next door and came back around 19:45 only to be told that a table would take at least another 30mins which we couldn't do and much later than the original 20:00. The place had a table set out for 4 to 5 people so I can only assume the greed of having a larger cover got to the restraunt this evening. This wasted us 1 :30 of our evening during my wife's birthday which was poor form and terrible customer service. I would never recommend or go to this place again. Stay clear.

The experience starts as you walk in to the restaurant , it’s like entering the set of Casablanca. It’s Morocco .... The staff are so friendly, the welcome, lovely. The food is sublime, varied in its choice and totally delicious. Just fantastic.

We've visited here before and loved it.Post-lockdown it isn't the same place. The 5 of us was squashed onto a small table by the entrance - the front area has now reduced in size due to them selling deli so its like you are sat in a shop. People in and out all the time, tables close together - did not feel safe, we was not asked to sanitise. The food was lovely as always, but if we go back we would request the back room (which is lovely).

As soon as I walked in the restaurant it felt so authentic. I'd never tried morrocan food before so I was really looking forward to it.The menu had different choices, I wasnt quite sure which one because they all sounded so nice. Went for my Mums birthday,was a table of 10 & all food came out at the same time! Starters were a really good size and was worried I wouldn’t eat my main but it was just so delicious! I’m a vegetarian & was good options. The waitress was very helpful because I couldn’t choose which main to have & she made the right choice for me! Reading another review about been put in the “dingy room in the back”,it’s absolutely nothing like that! It’s warm & comfortable with colourful drapes hanging from the ceiling! There was a random guy that had come in,obviously he had had quite a few & unfortunately to a shine to our table. It was handled very well & without any fuss,he was soon removed. We’d brought our own birthday cake in for my mum which they kindly brought out with candles,Plus singing with instruments etc! We had the most wonderful time,it really made my Mums birthday.We can’t wait to go back!

Booked a table for a Saturday night, as we entered a female member of staff greeted us and took us to our table, very authentic warm and cosy loved the environment.service was excellent drinks came promptly we ordered a platter for 4 the mixed starter the main (mixed kebabs on skewers) the baklava and coffee were all amazing could not fault this place will definitely be returning asap! Been living in Hull for the last 30 years but had never been to Marrakech Avenue. So when a friend from London visited, I thought we would try it. Were taken into a dark dingy room in the back to a table so small, i wondered how we were going to fit 2 plates on, let alone drinks and the serving dishes. Music was so loud, I couldnt hear myself speak, so we asked for it to be turned down. The waiter kindly did, but 10 minutes later, a woman walked in and turned it up full blast. The room was so dark, i could barely see, so the music being turned up was the last straw so we asked to be moved. We were moved to the front of the restaurant which was lit a lot better. But the tables were just as tiny. They have shoved in lots of tiny tables so they can cram more people in and made it a horrible experience. The people at the next table might as well be sitting in our laps, as the tables were that close to each other. We’d ordered a platter which turned up sizzling away. Looked amazing but unfortunately thats where it ended. There was kofthas, sheesh kebabs etc but they all tasted exactly the same. Totally tasteless and bland. Not even a slight bit of salt ir seasoning on them. The meat was tough and undercooked, we could barely chew it. I actually felt embarrased that i had taken my friend there. I apologised to her and said I didnt know it would be this bad. And it wasnt cheap. Totally not worth it. That was my first and last visit

Visited for my birthday with my partner & there was only another table with a party of 4 inWe was greeted & shown to a table. The waitress was friendly & took our drinks order. Our drinks arrived promptly & we was then ready to order our food. For a started i ordered homemade falafel & my partner ordered Moroccan Merguez Sausage & we both enjoyed our starter. For mains we had a selection of roasted vegetables tagine & Marrakesh platter. Firstly my partner thought it was not spicy enough. I have to say the vegetable tagine was not to my taste it states glazed with Harris’s with halloumi & sultanas on a bed of couscous. It really tasted like caramelised onion which I really didn’t like. I just picked round the vegetables & ate the couscous that didn’t have any of the sauce on. So I must have had only 5 folk fulls. When the waitress came to empty the table she asked if everything was ok, it clearly wasn’t by the amount of food left on my tagine. I explained that it was not to my taste & the waitress advised she would get the chef. He was very disappointed that it was not to my taste & explained how it was made. We was offered a free desert, which we declined. Then offered a free drink which we also declined. Then he insisted we have a free Moroccan tea. I had the tea & my partner the coffee. The tea was peppermint tea & was very good. My partner & me got talking to the chef who is the owner & he could not be more apologetic that I didn’t like the food. He shown my partner in the kitchen to discuss the best way to cook a tagine.We will definitely go back & try a different dish. I also just love the decor of the place. All the little tagine & lanterns

Had three very good dishes, vegetarian and meat, at the Marrakech. Very good value for money. There space between tables is a bit limited so does not allow for too much privacy.

Hull on a cold wet Monday night! Had a really nice meal which was great value. We shared the cruditte starter with Humus, loads for 2 people and both had the Saharah lamb, it was really good. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and nice to have the Casablanca Moroccan beer. Loved it, best meal for ages.

We had a lovely meal here with my daughter. We had the two types of chicken tagine. Both were far better than expected. Portions were good, very good flavours. I certainly could believe that they were both fairly authentic. The staff, I believe one was the owner, were very friendly and made our trip their very enjoyable. Definitely worth a visit

Food and service good. However... hygiene standards are a big factor where I chose to eat. So I was dissapointed to see, on more than one occasion, one of the chefs biting his nails. Not nice to see when this person is handling my food.

Tucked away in aCity becoming more cosmopolitan but still over reliant on fast food for dining out is this gem.

This was our second visit. We were not disappointed. Very busy Saturday evening, received a warm welcome. Really nice atmosphere. Ordered the lamb tagine and chicken tagine. Both were very flavoursome and filling. Will definitely be going back soon.

Ive read a few of the reviews good and not so good. I agree the surroundings were good and it had a nice atmosphere. The food was tasty, hot, plentiful and very filling. Service was good. Overall we had no issues and would eat here again. One slight negative was the bathroom could do with some improvement.

Visited on a saturday night. The restaurant is atmospheric and the lady greeting us was lovely. However the service thereafter left a lot to be desired. From ordering it took 50 minutes for the food to arrive and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant. A group. there when we first arrived, asked for the window to be opened, and we were left sat in the freezing cold. Food was ok but due to very dull lighting difficult to see what you were eating. Wouldn't return .

Visited on a Wednesday evening, a few tables already taken.We had booked a table, the lovely waitress sat us at a table & said if needed depending on what meals we ordered she would pull the next table across for us.

This small but beautifully decorated restaurant really gives a flavour of Morocco. Between four of us, we had the sharing platter starter, then we each chose a different tagine and sampled each others. Each one, though, could have fed two people. We also enjoyed cocktails. The food was excellent, the decor was beautiful, but the service was a little impersonal, despite being the only customers early on a midweek evening.

First visit was very worthwhile food was excellent staff efficient and friendly but what made very thing special was the atmosphere created by the decor. Would certainly recommend for a taste of something special.

We had a table booked for 18 of us on a Saturday night. Love the decor in the back room very authentic. All the staff were super friendly and attentive. We had a nice wait between courses which was OK as we were a large group and happy to chat. Drinks were constantly checked though. We spent nearly 4 hours in the restaurant and never felt rushed in fact we had a drink with the manager and an impromptu disco! Small issue was no baklava and we were served chocolate Brownie instead and no hot drinks with the set menu but to be fair I don't think anyone wanted them! The food was lovely and plentiful and good value. Will definitely be back

The food was second to none. The meat was delicious. The humous and halloumi both amazing. The service was fantastic. I cannot speak highly enough about this Restuarant.

Fabulous restaurant, seated by the owner, who is always obliging, she is smiling, pleasant, well presented, and nothing is to much trouble, on all visits experienced, a lovely lady. She is a credit to the restaurant business, and a credit to all who need to learn the art of customer service.

After walking out of another restaurant because of the very crap service & no customer service! We walked into this restaurant &were; greeted by a young lady who had a smart black jacket & glasses on. She had amazing smile! she also was very polite and welcomed us in, after brief chat she showed us to a table where we were greeted by another young lady. After looking though the menu *(see note at bottom) our drinks order was taken along with the food order. In what seemed like no time at all the starter arrived at the table and then OMG!!! Homemade Humous, Homemade bread & olives very filling but the flavour was nothing like i have had before in any restaurant in the UK! (Highly recommend this starter, enough to feed 3ppl) The main i had was a Lamb Tagine (sorry i carnt remember the name of it) and side salad. It was FULL of well balanced flavour, Lamb, Chickpeas, Potatoes, Carrot strips and the amazing sauce. My friends had a mixed meat kebab, rice & salad.. All the food was out of this world and we carnt wait to go back but take the rest of our friends as well!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marrakech if you don't try it, you won't know what your missing out on!

We walked in about 6:00 and the place was empty. We were a touch concerned but sat down and went through tyhe menu. We ordered a mixed starter for two followed by mixed kebabs, salad and couscous for two.

Lovely meal with my wife. Great food and drinks, and authentic style restaurant with friendly service. Highly recommended!

Visited here for the first time, i had the mixed kebabs and rice, my partner had a sahara chicken tagine, both dishes were full of flavour and nicely presented. Shared a dessert and bottle of wine. Nice setting

First visit to this restaurant & was not dissapointed. Fantastic halloumi & the lamb tagine is a must. Great decor & ambience. Friendly & helpful staff. This place is a must for Moroccan food lovers. Looking forward to our next visit.

Amazing birthday celebration the owners couldn't do enough for us. Great authentic food and fantastic atmosphere, great choice of wine. Truly enjoyed entire evening and we will definitely return!! We absolutely love this place and by far is the best restaurant in Hull !!

Been here multiple times and ye food has impressed me every time! The tagines are great and the lamb kebabs are to die for. Wonderful atmosphere as well and the service is super friendly.

My friend and I visited the restuarant last night We had the Marrakech platter which consists of chicken, lamb and a spicy kofta. The food and service was excellent it was a great friendly atmosphere in there. I would highly recommended this restuarant and will be returning.

We visited Marrakech on Friday night for a date night and were not disappointed. We've been meaning to visit for some years and so glad we finally got around to it. Upon arrival we were seated in the back of the restaurant which is just as lovely as the front. The decor is brilliantly done and create a lovely cozy vibe.

Thankfully we rang up earlier and booked because despite being a mid-week evening the place was full. The food was delicious and plentiful, sufficiently so that we all took some home. Well worth a visit.

We discovered Marrakech by accident, we had booked a well known Italian restaurant not far from Marrakech for eight, when we got to the italien they said we had not made a booking even though we had a online confirmation, we walked to Marrakech and we're seated without any fuss, we ordered mixed starters and various drinks, the young lady that served us was very attentive. We ordered mixed mains so that everyone could share, the portion sizes we very good and you could see it was fresh and well prepared, the kebab mixer was excellent, lamb beef, chicken all beautifully cooked and spiced just right, it was a family members birthday and the waitress went all out with a cocktail served with sparklers in it!...I would highly recommend going to Marrakech!...10/10!!

We visited midweek for my aunties birthday meal. After a lovely warm greeting we were seated and served some hummus and olives with Moroccan bread whilst we perused the mains, it was all delicious. Most of party indulged on the many ravine dishes they had to offer, whilst I opted for the grilled tiger prawns and had mine with cous-cous as I prefer it over the other option rice. The prawns came served on a bed of perfectly grilled vegetables that tasted as good as they looked. Many were beaten by the very generous portions, which we couldn’t fault in the slightest as everything tasted absolutely delicious and will certainly be visiting again.

Not much to say except the food was ok, clean and healthy and plenty of it but it was the service which stood out for me; very well done Danielle.

Took the other half for a birthday meal, the city is awash with large brand restaurants so somewhere different stands out! Service was great, explained the dishes in depth when asked.

I invite my sister for her birthday last year, food was delicious!! Waiter was friendly, decor restaurant was really nice. Recommed 1000% I will back to Marrakech restaurant many times!!

I visited here on Monday night with a friend, it was quiet with only 2 other people there. The decor inside makes you feel that you have stepped into morocco. Candles were lit all around the restaurant, as well as lots of colourful Moroccan lamps. We loved the decor as much as the food.

My partner and I went in on Bank Holiday Sunday for a meal because we had never been in before, and we thought we'd try something different. We were taken to the back room of the restaurant which was nicely decorated, but very dimly lit, and we were given a menu which we could hardly read because of the poor lighting. Nobody came back to take our order for about 15 minutes, then we were waiting for another 3/4 of an hour for it to arrive. We had ordered mixed meat kebabs, rice and salad for 2, which came on stone cold plates. The kebabs were ok, but they didn't ask us how we would like them cooked and the beef ones were pink in the middle and very chewy. There was not enough rice or salad for two people, so it was basically all meat.

Full of big expectations. Did not last long starters came and all cold. Let's go for mains think came out of same fridge as starters. Mixed tagine chicken bland, kofta bland, lamb fatty and uneatable. Avoid. Oh and free coffee offered, you guessed stone cold.

The waitress was polite and courteous and advised us on the various menu choices, we opted for a bottle of the Morrocan white wine, Mergues sausage, with figs, pomegranate and goats cheese to start and the Marrakesh platter for two which consisted of 3 skewers each ( chicken lamb and beef) the whole thing tasted wonderful and was beautifully presented on a large tagine with salad and couscous and various dips, to finish we opted for Baklava. This place had a great vibe and we really enjoyed the music, when we left the restaurant was nearly full, I think you would need to book if you wanted a table later in the week, we will definitely go again!

A Mother's Day treat from my 2 and they couldn't have chosen better for Sunday dinner. Our only criticism was the mix up on starters, we ordered a hummus with olives to share and the feta/parcels came out. We agreed to accept them and asked for the hummus and bread. Even though I wasn't paying, I was disappointed that all 3 items were listed full price on the bill !

Visited for my birthday on a Sunday evening. It was quiet with only 3 other couples in there. Waitress was very attentive and very friendly. Food came out sharpish and was really nice. I’ve never really had Moroccan food so my boyfriend chose it as a surprise and I was not disappointed! The restaurant itself is small and cosy and well themed. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Yet again a visit to this restaurant is nothing short of exceptional. Daniella (apologies if I got your name wrong) is both friendly and helpful yet not pushy or intrusive. We are slowly working our way through the menu and so far our only complaint is 'Why can't one dish be poor' suffice to say so far every wish is excellent and the sikema is what to choose next. Never have I been to restaurant where I can't fault anything; service, food, atmosphere, staff, facilities, location, price, value.

We have visited a few times, and as always the food was delicious. The service was efficient and friendly and we didn't feel rushed. Good value for money and a nice change from the usual run of restaurants, well worth a visit

I have been here several times over the past three years and the food is always delicious - my personal favourite is the Marrakech chicken tagine with couscous. The atmosphere is comfy, cultured and interesting and the staff are friendly. If you're looking to try hearty, delicious and warming Persian food, eat here!

We booked here for a friends surprise 50th celebration and I'm so glad we did. We booked the back room. On walking in the place is beautiful but the back room is stunning. The decor is ace and feels like a Moroccan tent. Earlier in the day we'd gone to take a cake and some decorations and the owners son was so helpful and arranged everything.

This was our first visit to Marrakech Avenue for a little while and the one thing we noticed above all else about the newly-laid out menu was the increase in price across the board. That said, the prices have only gone from "very reasonable" to "not expensive" and hopefully they won't go any further for a while.

Came for dinner to catch up with a friend.

My boyfriend and I went for a date night two weeks back.. the food was amazing and the staff we very accommodating, we couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend!

Visited here on a quiet Sunday with a few other tables present. The one front of house member on duty was quick to greet & seat us, and took our drinks and food orders in good time. I had the morrocan style tea, which was refilled without asking and very nice.

Very impressed. Good atmosphere, friendly service, excellent and tasty food - also authentic. Good price at lunchtime too. Love the decor. Would definitely recommend.

I visited Marrakech Avenue with my OH on a Friday evening during a weekend break to Hull - City of Culture. I was looking forward to the evening, as my OH and I have visited Morocco and Tunisia on holiday several times, and really enjoy North African food.

Went to this place a few months back it was really nice!and as I work away in navy and go away this week me and my partner decided to go back our night around the pubs was great until we arrived there at exactly 10pm only one other table eating so thought bit more personal we ordered st 10.10 and we had to ask after 30 min how long will it be as it was taking so long are night out mood had gone from great to spoilt when asked again just a few more minutes so our food accurately took 40 min to come didn't bring the man breads as we looked around the staff just wanted to go home not one came over to ask if all was ok nothing so we said had enough and went to pay bill they tried to get me to pay for the things we didn't even receive, asked why the food was 40 min to come out for 4 squared kebab meats was told it's made fresh well sorry no it's not they are already done just have to be cooked Servis was dismal Spoilt are last night togetherWe loved this place but I'm afraid we will not be going again after thisNot even we won't charge for the 2 lemonades for been late as an apology Happy eating people it's gone down hill

While staying in Hull this place was recommended for its brilliant tagines and the Mezzo It certainly didn't disappoint us. Although we didn't book I would recommend you do, due to the size of the place you could be disappointed if you don't. What I would recommend is that you make a night of it, go early evening and stay until late, use it as a dining experience for the evening rather than a place to get a bite to eat. It's decorated and furnished just how you would see it in Marrakech, without a doubt a lot of thought has gone into the decor. Back seats are embroidered cushioned seats and although it appears small there is plenty of room around the tables. We didn't order a starter and in some ways I'm pleased I didn't because I wasn't prepared for the huge portion I got. We ordered the tagines, I got the chicken and a mate got the meatball tagine, another got the chicken skewers. A side comes with the tagines so we mixed and matched and got some Green beans and butter beans for measure. The tagines come out piping pan hot, to the point where you have to leave them for at least 10 minutes before you can actually taste the food. This is good news !! This means you have time to taste the wine. Never before have I had Moroccan wine and at £19.99 a bottle I thought it was a tad expensive, however I was pleasantly surprised as it absolutely fabulous and a bit moreish!!! Food was excellent !!! the fused spices in the sauces were excellent. It takes time too get through it but what an experience. Great service, good Estrella lager on draught and not too pricey. Tagines from about £12.99. Will definitely return.

Been wanting to visit this restaurant for sometime now so arranged an evening with friends. Not going to say anything other than we ordered two portions of the Baklava to share and finish off our meal. We were on the last few mouthfuls when my friend noticed a live maggot crawling around on the plate! He took the plate to the waitress at the back of the restaurant so not to cause a scene as the restaurant was fairly busy. She came over to clear the rest of the table and all she said was 'sorry this hasn't happen before' and walked off. My other friend at this point who is 6 months pregnant had had to leave the restaurant as she was shaking and understandably feeling unwell so needed some fresh air. As the waitress left the table, myself and my other friend then noticed another maggot crawling around on the table, it must of fallen off the plates as they were cleared away. Again my friend went to inform the staff away from other customers. The waitress then came over and said sorry again, that it had never happened before and that the maggots must of been in the sesame seeds that they use to decorate the plates and then walked off again! We were left to sit there for a few minutes in shock until I got up and went to speak to a member of staff to find out what was happening about our bill. He informed me that they were discussing it in the back. The waitress then appeared and asked me what did I want to do about the bill! I told her that we were not willing to pay for anything and that she could take my number if she needed to pass it on too a manager. I told her that the whole evening had been ruined, that finding maggots in food is a disgrace, that my friend is pregnant and feeling unwell and that we were all rather shaken up. She asked if we would pay for the drinks which I said yes ok but no one came over with a bill for these so we roughly worked it out, left the money on the table and walked out.After leaving we went for a coffee somewhere else and we all then felt angry and disappointed that we had even had to pay for the drinks, but all we wanted to do was to get out of there. We obviously won't be visiting again!!!!!

This was my first time visiting Marrakech. The food was lovely and the atmosphere and interior design were excellent. The only issue myself and my friend had was there being only one member of staff serving food and serving drinks. Once more people were coming in at around 6:30, she looked rushed off her feet. Still outstanding service from this lady but again perhaps more staff are needed to deliver prime service.

Attended for a networking event and the supper was lovely. The service however wasn't speedy. But once the food eventually came out it was lovely. Great little back lounge with typical Moroccan themed chairs and decor. Worth a visit on a weekend i think to get the true experience
