Best chippy in the Abergavenny area sit in or takeaway friendly staff, foods always fast and tastes amazing 👏 always friendly people in and around the restaurant, I will be back ever time im in Abergavenny.

Best chips for miles. Always friendly and courteous staff. Bonus I’ve found out their Savaloy contains no Gluten. I also think one day a week they do GF orders.

Been to this chippie several times and always eat in.Good ,honest fare, well cooked and excellent quality.Waitreses are very polite and efficient. Wouldn't go anywhere else in Abergavenny.

Went in today (22 Oct) and they had a large order in so were very rushed and chaotic. Ordered Jumbo sausage, a pie and 2 portions of chips. Got home and the chips were cooked but slushy and had to be pulled off the grease proof paper because they were probably rushed and tried to overfill the fryer (lowering temp). My jumbo sausage turned out to be a small sausage in batter and was also slushy and half cooked. Never really had problems there before, but very pale slushy chips are easy to spot no matter what other orders you have in. They should maybe concentrate on quality and not quantity.

Scampi and chips was great, good quality fresh scampi! Steak and kidney pie was also good apparently.

Went for takeaway, was a little disappointed with the food if I'm honest my sausage didn't taste nice and chips weren't the best. My daughter had a kids meal deal but never received it.

This is a good old fashioned sort of place. Nothing is expensive and they have reduced rates for senior citizen's meals. They no longer offer cooked breakfast, which is regrettable because it was always freshly prepared with good ingredients. However, if you like traditional fish, chips and mushy peas, sausage , egg and chips etc... this is the place for you. Food is good, portion sizes are never meagre and the service is quick....always great when you're hungry! Good location right next to the Market Hall.

As we were staying in the area, we had takeaway chippy 2 nights from here, the first night (Easter Monday 8pm) the lovely young women that served me were very polite and efficient, but the next night,the poor girl who served my husband was spoke to quite rudely by the other more mature lady, who basically told her off right in front of him, which he thought was so unprofessional. Apart from that the food was good and quite tasty and we would probably return depending on who serves us.

Great portions! Probably not worth buying the large portions as the small ones are huge.

Second visit following move to the area. The fish was first class but we were a bit disappointed with the chips. I notice other people have commented to that effect. It won't stop us going but worth recording which may prompt the owners to do something a little difference?Some of the prompts below are not applicable - this is a fish and chip shop, not a restaurant!

Great chips..freshly cooked ro perfection and a lightly battered fish that melted in the mouth. All served piping hot with a lovely smile thrown in free of charge.

Very disappointed, we ordered large chips, large sausage, large curry, cheese and onion pastie. Pastie looked liked it had been stepped in , it was inedible as were the chips. DISGUSTING

Had a few visits over the last month & I have to say the quality has gone down.The chips some hoe are both greasy & dry, curry sauce wasn't far off the consistency of water, fish with thin coating of batter but dry.Very disappointing.

Fancied fish and chips whilst on a day out in Abergavenny. Plenty of well spaced tables,quite a large space lots of tables.We had the pensioners special....cod and chips with peas,bread and butter and a pot of tea for two.....£15.00.fabulous!We had to wait quite a long time because they were busy with takeaways, not a problem because we had our lovely pot of tea with another pot of hot water,milk sugar and sweeter to carry on with.There was plenty of tea for two cups each.The young lady took our details with a phone number,in compliance with the Covid rules.The only complaint we had was that the table should have been wiped down before we ate.The fish was beautiful, and well cooked,plenty of chips...would definitely recommend it.

I visited there with a friend for lunch. We bought small chips twice with a piece of fish for mt friend to go with the chips. The small chips I had cost £2. As many of my followers know that is a little above average on the fish shops I have visited around the country on my travels. The portion was smaller than any I have had in the past and they were very Greasy. Awful chips . I think I will stick to the other Fish shop in Abergavenny as they have always been good on quality and portion for the price

If you are going there for fish and chips it is nice . If you are going there for any jacket potato don't bother dry potato ,hardly any filling and cold

Great fish but the chips were a little soggy. We went for large cod and the pieces were a good size, cooked well but still firm, and covered in moderately thick, crispy, tasty batter. The chips were a little bit soggy for my taste. Next time I come I will ask if it is possible to cook the chips so they are a bit crispier.

Popped in there with a buddy and had a small portion of chips, open to take out. The Portion was very good as was the price of £1.90. The chips were nice and the service friendly. I'll be back for more.

Visited yesterday afternoon and ordered cod, chips and peas. Generous large portion of fish and chips. The cod was very big with a wonderful fresh batter. Excellent value for money and quick service. It is a rustic cafe with simple good quality food. If you are looking for traditional British food at a reasonable price this is the place to go.

Visited on Tuesday market day and was busy.Eating inside - tables very tight together.Service only just average.Fish only average taste and quality - expected better.Chips were good but above average number of fragment pieces - expected better.Coffee again expected better quality.No desire to return.

Chips brown in colour, food in general very poor quality and not good to eat. Most likely over used oil or substandard potatoess, McDonald's serve better chips ..........

The photo of fish, chips and peas must have been photoshopped because the chips they sell look nothing like that. You would think it would take more time and effort to cook horrible chips - they seem to manage that with ease here though.

Worst customer service by the girl serving today. Definitely in the wrong job. Huffed and rolled her eyes as were abit indescisive, we joked we were being a pain and she didn't crack a smile or even look up. She then slammed our change on the counter and walked away. We spent £15. I will never return and always eat there. Extremely rude.

Visiting Abergavenny for the first time I happened to walk past this fish n chip shop on the way to the market. There was a poster in the window saying serving gluten free fish and chips on a Tuesday and it was Tuesday ! So we went in. Its deceptively spacious with plenty of tables inside. Staff were very friendly and welcoming even giving us directions to our next destination ! Having just turned 60 I ordered the senior gluten free fish and chips which comes with peas and either tea or coffee. (non-GF includes bread & butter too) Given the size of the fish served it was very reasonable for £7.20. Lovely crispy batter and crispy chips with GF vinegar and complimentery condiments.

This place is always busy, that tells you enough. The portions a good sizes and the prices are decent. The staff could smile a bit more 😂

A very well established fish and chip shop (60 years plus), it is both a take away and an eat-in 'restaurant'. They offer a package - fish and chips, tea and bread and butter, all for a very good price.

For a change we thought we would have a nice fish and chip lunch. First time we have used this establishment in Abergavenny. We were surprised at the number of tables in the place, you would never know from the outside. Quite a large menu for a fish and chip restaurant. Caters for much more. But in the end we opted for their senior fish and chip option, which comes with peas, bread and butter and either tea or coffee. All for a very reasonable £7.20 head.

Best chips (fry's) in the Abergavenny area.

In the last 2 months my partner and I have been to Abergavenny twice and both times we ate here. Good service. Good selection of meal choices on the menu. I had an all day cooked breakfast both times as I really enjoyed it the first time. We have been there for lunch and dinner and it gets busy that's how good it is. There is more than enough food, 5 of us went for dinner the second time and it cost £36 for 5 meals including drinks. They do children's meals and senior citizen meals so cater for everyone. The chip shop side is also very busy. Highly recommend eating here if you are in town.

Visted here today for the first time today and must say the service was lovely the waitress was friendly and prompt service and food was lovely warm lovely potion sides and fresh and tasty will defo be returning

Tend to have very long waits at peak times, portions are not at all generous. Chips are great quality. Large cod is lovely, small cod lives up to its name and is approximately the same amount of fish as in 2 fish fingers.

The restaurant is round the side of the take away. The meals are served quickly, efficiently.The tables might be a bit close for real comfort, but there is a fast turnover. Food is always fresh

We have used this chippy on several occasions when travelling, the breakfasts are superb and when we have lunched there you cannot go wrong with the choice on the menu. Friendly staff and good prices. What more can I say?

Nice sausage and chips. Lush curry sauce. Mum said its the best pie she's had in a very long time, and her friend wants to return every week just for the chips.

What can I say made me sick never going there again terrible service after money being snatched out of my hand I was given chicken that was dry and overcooked the sausage was plastic the chips were rubber and raw the most disgusting part of the meal was the gravy looked like something I get from pets at home would not feed that to my dog.
