Wow! Absolutely delicious. A truly exceptional little fish and chip shop! Anything was on point... If in Rye, I highly recommend it 👌

Fish good chips a little over cooked but fine

Marino's food used to be fabulous... however, seemingly no longer! We have been dozens of times over the years, and was the family's favourite. On the recent visit, the chips were crispy and delicious but the batter on the cod was pale, soft, and porridge-like on the underside. The piece of cod itself was ok but not great. The side orders of onion rings were underwhelming and, at 80p each for what were the frozen, cheap kind, it was disappointing. The staff were friendly but, at £20+ per person for fish, chips and a soft drink, this isn't much of a consolation.

We ordered on-line and the food was ready very promptly. Everyone enjoyed it. The only disadvantage is that you can't stop outside although we did manage to stop just up the road.

We are so lucky to have a chippy like Marinos in our town! Delicious food, and great service. Always fresh fish. Avoid the queue by calling to order in advance - your food will be waiting with a smile!

Tasty fish and chips. Cooked fresh so took some time, fish was fresh and sweet. They do charge for sauce.

A giant slab of crispy haddock nestled in a great heap of thick cut fries. Enough food for a small hungry village. Service a little slow because of so many customers, otherwise an excellent meal.

Pre-ordered and paid online - got back to holiday accommodation and they’d forgotten to include half of order. Chips were greasy and undercooked. Would not recommend.

Probably the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time

Friendly staff and delicious food! My husband had the haddock with chips and I had battered calamari with salad. The fish is fresh and the portions are huge! Highly recommended if you are visiting Rye

Absolutely delicious. Came from London down to Camber Sands for a few days with the family. Popped over to Rye and saw this fish bar. Got a good vibe and saw the prices were very fair. Had to wait a bit as they were quite busy in their seating area as far as I could tell. But the wait was worth it! Staff were very friendly but the food was great. Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. Fresh fish, tasty batter and crisp chips! Made a short break even better!

I have been to this chippy with a group of around 20 German students on a field trip. The service was very kind and took their time with the kids and their inexperienced orders. The owner was very friendly and the food was very tasty. The medium size haddock will fill a grown man until evening. All in all a great experience and I will definitely come back on our next trip.

Went for Rye Scallop week and was totally surprised to see this traditional fish and chip shop do battered Scallops and chips. Really good and plenty of it for £18.99 highly recommend!

Best Cod and chips I've had in a long time. If you are ever visiting Rye this place is well worth popping into. They have seating in the back and also do takeaway.

We had medium cod and chips. The cod was a bit on the small side, and the chips were quite burnt. As it was fairly early in the day, we wondered if the chips were left over from the previous day and reheated. The pot of tea was only just large enough for 1 cup, so we paid £4 for 2 cups of tea.

I’ll be honest with you it was a bit of a mission trying to get fish and chips in the area as we walked all way to camber Sands only to get there to realise that it was shut down largely because it was winter time and because camber is a bit of a butt hole, please don’t let this review stop you from going there because the beach is wonderful to go walking along, just don’t bother trying to explore the wider camber area because it’s not very nice. We entered Rye longing for fish and chips, and our optimism and hopes were at a rock bottom low for finding something decent. We found the Mecca of fish and chip shops, Marinos, fish, bar, serving, next level, life changing fish and chips. The chips were epic, batter light and fish was soft. Thanks Marinos, we will be back again soon.

Great fish and chips. Great service. Avoid the onion rings as they are clearly frozen and not rings of onion dipped in batter and fried.

OMG… We only had a portion of chips to share as a snack but both of us wanted to go back and get more. The BEST chips we have ever had. Absolutely deliciously tasty.

Big on price, very small on portions - smallest portion of chips I’ve seen and half of them were more crisp than chips. Could have given a ‘normal’ size portion for that money! … I’ll be using the one down by the harbour in future.

Popped in for a quick fish n chips one evening. Hadn’t been before and as the restaurant part was empty we ate in. The food was as good as I’ve ever had in a fish bar, in particular the batter was absolutely perfect. Thin and crisp, not greasy and tasted great. Also very good value. Look forward to visiting again..

Delicious, fresh fish. Big portion. Even for takeaway - it tastes great. There is also an option with food inside, but we never used it. When we are in Rye, we always go there for delicious fish 😃

Food was very tasty. Guys were pleasant and relatively quick. Fish was freshly cooked and chips were amazing. Only complain is my fish was surprisingly small and the pie was still a little cold. But on the whole all good.

A bit of a long wait, but worth it to be cooked fresh. As a girl from the coast I've had my fair share of fish and chips and these completely hit the spot - all my friends who were also eating agreed. The Goldilocks chips, not too crunchy and not too soft.

Called in for a takeaway which was cooked as we waited but it was only 10 minutes, very friendly people and cod and chips cooked to perfection.

As expected fish and chips but super expensive and portion smaller than expected. £36 for two adults and two children.

Quality fish and chips, highly recommend. Reasonably priced. Friendly, helpful staff. Bit of a gem in town, competing with many other restaurants in the High St.. Also takeaway service.

This is definitely the best fish and chips in the U.K. The freshly caught cod are enveloped in the lightest, crispiest batter which is in no way greasy and creates a cocoon in which the fish cooks to perfection, revealing fat flakes of steaming deliciousness when you cut into it. The chips are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - light and full of flavour. We always get fish and chips here when we visit and it always seems busy which is no surprise. Heartily recommend.

Very nice fish and chip restaurant and take away. Ate in on a busy Saturday evening. Prices are reasonable, not cheap and not expensive. Decent cod and chips. Nice burgers with salad. Pot of tea only does one cup. Alcohol available. Service wise it's fine, but staff hand plates to you in the air rather than put it down on the table for you.

Very good fish n chips. The fish fresh and is cooked very well, the chip portions are a little small. we ordered two medium portions and it was not enough for 4 people. Because of it popularity it gets very busy, so expect to wait for your order.

Ordered a couple of meals here for collection in a Sunday evening. The order was ready for collection and the staff were very prompt, however - Portions of chips were really small, even the regular ones were the same size as the kids portion - Chips were mega greasy and had a taste that indicated they were from the end of the last batch and had been floating there a while - Curry sauce was ver watery and tasteless - Jumbo battered sausage was the same size as the kids portion sausage…. regular sausage sized Ultimately disappointing - would not recommend, stars are for promptness and politeness alone

We ate here last night (18th Oct), the cod & chips were excellent. Big portions & very tasty. Will check out again when back in Rye. Highly recommend.

Fantastic fish & chips! The haddock had just the thinnest, crispiest crust and the fresh fish just melted in your mouth. Chips were great as well. Unlike in many other places, here there is a spacey indoor dining area. Friendly staff too.

The worse chips that I have ever had!! Really dirty tables, sluggish service.

Absolutely weird and terrible service at the take-out station. I couldn't tell whether the woman at the register despised her coworkers or the group of customers more. I was equally relieved and appalled that she continued this behavior with the patrons after us. I half expected her to spit at my face or to pick up and huck the register at someone. Note that despite this, we still give it five stars. This was due to the price vs. quality + quantity of the food. It was absolutely great! If you want fish and chips to go, stand in line here for a few minutes, just maybe try not to make eye contact with the classy lady running the register lest you risk being turned to stone.

We decided to try the fish and chips here and we were not disappointed. My husband had a medium fish and chips and I had the childs fish and chips and this was plenty with a pot of curry sauce and a pot of mushy peas and two forks. We sat in the churchyard and listened to the evening bird song. Such a delight xx

Unimpressive with very small portions. We got our standard takeaway order for a family of 3 - large cod and chips, mushy peas and battered sausage. Quality was average but the issue was the portion size. Barely a handful of chips (I can only guess here "large" only refers to the fish not the whole order) but alongside a very average size piece of fish. And the battered sausage was only a half size - child portion! About the only thing they got right compared to proper chippies was the mushy peas - because nobody can mess up a microwave polystyrene cup of peas. Very disappointing. If we'd eaten in we would have sent it back.

Lovely fish and chips served here, and great value for money too. Nice sized portion of fish and loads of chips, served with a nice large slice of lemon. Couldn't want anything more, and if you do, they have a decent sides menu, as well as a selection of deserts. Staff very friendly and attentive, nice and clean throughout, my only disappoinment was the toilets which are in need of a revamp, and a mop as the floor was like an ice rink.. Even staff say it's a problem that needs sorting... That was my only gripe, but you go there to eat, not check out the toilets!!! I would highly recommend and revisit.

Just go! It's The BEST fish and chips in Rye!! Good service friendly staff, wasn't our first choice to be honest but the restaurant we went to was stifling, no fans or air con or even a door open and very uncomfortable, so we thought we'd have fish and chips, SO glad we did! We found a gem.

Huge portions. Had the haddock with fries which was delicious. Could only finish half. Also had the calamari, curry sauce. Calamari was ok the coating was a bit thick. Curry sauce was a classic. Accommodating staff. Clean and relatively fast eat in. Recommended..

Cod and chips were amazing however really small restaurant with no A/C staff and customers are clearly suffering from the temp inside.

I popped in for takeaway cod and chips. The fish was cooked to order which is always a good sign in my opinion. The take away section was very busy which again is a good sign. My food was very well cooked and I enjoyed my meal. I won't hesitate to buy from this chippy again if I'm in the area.

Took a fish and chips takeaway. To my surprise no folk, no ketchup, no sauce, not even a paper serviette!! Just fish n chips in a box😞 really disappointed. Was never had a takeaway in this state!! Sorry don’t recommend

The haddock was delicious. And the chips were very moorish too. Our family ate up every last bit. We were lucky to dine at the restaurant in a cosy little booth.

Delicious fresh fish and chips. Always gets busy, but the staff work quickly and are so friendly. Reasonably priced. Parking isn't available outside, but the village has a couple of car parks with pay and display nearby by.

Visiting Rye so placed an order online for collection, very easy to do. Turned up, the order was ready and waiting for the entire family, exactly correct, v friendly service and of course excellent food! We loved it - thank you and brilliant online ordering initiative!!

After 56years on this earth, I can honestly say that this was the best Fish and Chips I can remember having!!… Haddock was beautiful, batter light, yet crispy, and the chips were seriously the best I’ve had in many a year!!.. just the right mix of big light fluffy ones and crispy scrappy ones👍🏻 .. just wish I was local so could have again and again!!

The food is good, but it's the only chipshop where you wait about 15 minutes to get your takeaway order.

It was good but the floor is a real ice rink because of the grease...Holliday On Ice...Same for the tables etc...Good ventilation and a big cleaning would do good.

Marino’s Fish Bar - Rye. Wow… where do I begin!. One of the best fish and chips shops I’ve ever been to. The meals we had were excellent. Fish was cooked to perfection, crispy batter with moist juicy fish inside and the chips were crispy on the outside and fluffy inside ( no hint of oiliness). The price was reasonable for the quality and generous portions. My partner and I along with our grandson walked in and was immediately greeted by both friendly staff and the proprietor. The staff ( especially Caitlin ) were courteous , attentive and efficient ( even when the restaurant was busy). We went back 3 times ( on 7th, 9th and 13th of August 2023), during our 6 days in Rye. A must go to place while in Rye.

Food was good fish excellent, service OK, just very slow at getting served even though it was not so busy, think it was a staff shortage thing.

Took our god daughter and her friend who were visiting the UK and wanted to try traditional fish and chips. The staff were very nice and the food was good.

Both food and service was very good. Atmosphere was OK We chose to eat in , we had our dog with us , an added bonus that they were dog friendly. Would we return.... without a doubt its YES.

Based on the previous reviews we decided that we needed to try the food here, we weren’t disappointed! The fish (Cod) was so tasty and the portions were generous. The kids meals were good as well for their size and the kids said they were tasty! Definitely worth a visit.

I had heard great things of this chip shop so was disappointed once we finally went there. Our order wasn't taken correctly and we were over charged. Not a good start. Once it did arrive the fish had been brutally over cooked and the calamari, well didn't represent any calamari I have ever had before. The chips were with S+V, even though we had asked (surely a must for most fish and chip shops in the UK) The mushy peas were missing and you had to pay 20p for a wee sachet of sauce. On the plus side the chips were high quality but I wouldn't come back here. Reading the other reviews makes me think we got dealt a bad card. Which is almost more disappointing.

Great fish, the best tasting battered cod I have eaten in a very long time. We had lunch here today, table service, the staff are extremely friendly and ensure you have everything you want. The food was delicious and good size portions, no room for desserts. We will be gping back.
