Marino's Fish Bar in Kennigton in Ashford

Ordered a delivery of 2 gyros boxes. Chicken, chips, zatziki and salad. Well it was OK, no salad though, even though it states online. Phoned them and was told it doesn't come with salad anymore 🤣 £24 for a bit of chicken and chips fantastic!! The zatIki was lush though!!

I was looking for a new chippie after moving to Ashford and I tried a few, one day at work driving through Kennington I noticed another Marino's, so I had large cod and chips, it was great, only downside was I couldn't eat it all. Following Thursday had sausages and chips which were freshly cooked to order, (as is the fish) but decided that the cod was for me. I try to go in after work on a Thursday but I now have standard cod and chips as I find it's just perfect for me. So glad I stopped originally and I'm glad that it's all freshly cooked to order.

I went to marinos chip shop a while ago and got a small chips and 2 curry spring rolls when I got back home I found that the spring rolls were really under cooked as a result I had a chronic gut ache for nearly a month. As a customer of there food I will not be going to them again so they have lost my custom.

I ordered the Chicken Gyros Box via Just Eats. It was absolutely delicious, food was delivered across town and was still hot, plenty of it too. Tzatziki is the best I've had in a long while, really tasty! Would highly recommend.

Be careful when ordering online. We booked online. The order apparently goes through to the shop in Ashford centre. They then pass the order on to the shop in Kennington. Waited 1hr 30mins for arrival. Really bed when arrived.

Have used Marino’s for a few years now, more recently this Kennington branch. The fish is amazing! So fresh and tasty. But the 5⭐️ is earned with the curry sauce! To die for.

Nothing like the beaver road store. Don’t no what there doing. Shocking. Time for a new manager. Never no what is happening or how long. Total dog.

Ordered a delivery which took over 2 hours to arrive. Cold food delivered and wrong drink so that was undrinkable. I'll never order from here again; their first impression for me was their last order from me.

Waited for hour and twenty minutes for it to turn up cold. Real shame as we will not use again due to the poor customer service.

Chips in a box, not for me, unfortunately, just an excuse to give you fewer chips. Shame that I won’t be returning cos the girls on the desk do their best !

The food is pretty great. When done properly. I've had fish half cooked and been told over the phone to cook it myself and just enjoy my chips.ive had what tastes like double cooked old chips. Today I spent £5.65 on each piece of cod and was shocked when I got home and unwrapped them. It wasn't much bigger than a teaspone and was full of huge bones. So glad I decided to get My daughter and sausage and not share my fish with her. Because after 5 bits my fish was gone and I'd hurt my gum when finding all those bones, which could of been dangerous for her . The chips which were £4.90 were enough for 5-6 people. I won't be returning. £20.10 for 2 pieces of very small cod. One chip and one small sausage. Bit pricey.

Very rude and obnoxious girl firstly got irate when I asked why they charged for sauces. Not had to pay for a squirt of sauce on chips for as long as I can remember. Asked me to then wait for a 'new batch' of chips to be cooked, leaving a half filled bag on the side surface, non heated for over five minutes. I made no demand, and simply asked if she thought the chips that had been left out may have been cold. At which point she became even more annoyed and pretty much pushed the food into my hands. Trying to shut the dialogue down with a sarcastic 'have a ice day.'Needless to say, the chips were awful. Having been a restaurant manager for over 20 years, I am shocked and appalled on the attitude of staff toward hygiene and customer service, more than the food itself. Which was as I said, awful. This place used to be run very well ten years ago. I was looking forward to returning. The management have changed, and certainly so have the standards.

I've always loved the food from both Marino's outlets in Ashford and have often eaten from both in the past. I assume the food is as good as ever. Like millions of people at the moment, unable to leave the house except for essential activities, I fancied fish and chips delivered from Marino's. I logged into the app and browsed the menu of the Faversham Road shop..........only to find the most HORRENDOUS, OBSCENE mark up on all offerings.....I couldn't believe my eyes. Standard cod and chips FROM £10.25. Large cod and chips FROM £11.40 Children's small cod and chips FROM £8.00. Perhaps even worse is £3.60 for a 1.5 litre bottle of soft drink. A bottle of vinegar is £2.35. Casting my eye over the Beaver Road menu I discovered that 4 x 440ml Strongbow Fruits is £10.00 and 4 x 440ml Stella Artois is £9.50. And to top it all off, they then want an extra quid for delivery. This would be over £30.00 for myself, my wife and my daughter to have fish and chips. I have to say I'm absolutely horrified at this greedy pricing, and feel the business is exploiting the fact that they are one of the few takeaway outlets open at the moment. Very, very disappointing from Marinos, I thought better of them. The food has always been lovely but I will most likely use somewhere else now. What a shame.

This is not the first time I have ordered Fish and Chips, mushy peas and the vegetable spring rolls.The fish and batter are cooked to perfection, the batter is beautiful and crispy. We order the large, but struggle to eat sometimes,as the portions are large and not what another Chip shop would define as large.The chips are lovely and the vinegar, I believe onion vinegar has such a lot of flavour. The last thing is we have it delivered and the food is so hot, such a pleasure to sit and enjoy themThis is far the best Place to get your Fish and Chips.

This is our go to “chippy” on the rare occasion that everyone fancies a fish supper. Staff are friendly and efficient. Food is good quality (it’s only fish and chips, I know, but this is a good example of the genre) and it is possible to buy the right amount of chips if you ask about the portion sizes!I’m a big fan of the spam fritter (the only food I remember my dad cooking when I was a boy) and my son recently attempted the Monster Burger.... but couldn’t finish it.

This was the worst fish and chip takeaway I’ve ever had. The chips were hard, the fish didn’t seem very fresh and we couldn’t get a knife through the tough exterior of the saveloy! Literally had a taste and threw it in the bin - £12 wasted.

Never had a bad takeaway - fish always fresh. Can get busy at peak times but that is for a reason....it's excellent.

I popped in having been diverted due to an accident and wish I hadn’t. The chips were quite literally the worst I have ever tasted, like cardboard, so much so that I threw them away. I get the impression they use the cheapest ingredients possible as was evident by the anaemic sausage too. Friendly staff but the food is absolutely disgusting. If you want decent chips try VC Jones in Whitstable, (the best locally in my view), City Fish Bar in Canterbury or Archie’s Fish and Chips in Minster, Manston, then compare the difference.

We came here to grab lunch after putting up the Xmas decorations. It was our reward for doing it lo. We decided to get a selection and share, so opted for Chips, Sweet Potato Fries, Halloumi, Deep fried Pigs in Blankets and Sausage. All in all it was fantastic, and there arent many better chippys.

I like these type of fish and chips take away spots. I think the box the food came in made it a bit too soggy. But generally great, yet simple food!

15 minute Wait just for 2 bags of chips. Very slow service, next time I shall cook my own. Person next to me said it's like this all the time.

We order ahead of time and if we can two of us go as one to collect and jump the queue . They do have parking at the rear as parking is a premium at times.

We normally phone ahead & reserve our fish. We've only ever used the takeaway service, but use it every week. The portions are generous & the fish is cooked to perfection

The Haddock was really fresh & was lovely but the batter wasn't cooked out properly.When I cut into the batter it was still semi uncooked mush that smelt of flour.The chips were full of bad black bits & were dry with no flavour.The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because the fish was so nice.Need to up their game big time.Would not recommend to anyone.Very disappointed⭐⭐

We went to the fish and chip shop early evening and well the chips were dry, hard and looked like they had been reheated several times throughout the day. My husband had the fish and has been up all night with stomach cramps and an upset stomach and u have woke up with similar symptoms this morning.

First and last time we will buy from this chip shop. After getting home we noticed part of our order wasn’t given to us so after driving back to the shop we were told that we hadn’t ordered them! So service was disappointing and the food wasn’t any better. COD was terrible and didn’t eat it, the pie was basically empty and the chips were warm. Will go else where from now on and I recommend anyone looking for good fish and chips to do the same!

After being very disappointed with your Beaver Road establishment we thought we would give you a try.

We prefer our fish and chips from here because we phone up prior to getting our fish and chips. We arrive and jump ahead of the queue. Food is hot and tasty, what mor could you ask for with true British fare.

Busy with locals so a little slow but worth waiting as fish and chicken excellent, plaice in particular, large portions especially chips which were also good. Easy parking at rear, some quirky hand written menu additions such as courgette fritters. Worth seeking out.

After 6 months in France , we were keen to have good old fish 'n' chips and that is exactly what we got!

We live nearby and usually order the pensioner special. It's very good value, fresh tasty with the massive bonus of home made tartare sauce which is delicious. They have a wide range on the menu.

Can't really go wrong here. Foods always great and the staff always have a smile for you and are super efficient. Shame that as most of them are from abroad they will probably be kicked out of the country soon.

Excellent food especially the burgers, suggest ordering ahead if its a large order.A little pricey compared to other places but the quality of the food is worth it

fancied ifsh and chips for first time in ashford, not knowing where to go I went to google, I had passed Marinos a couple of times and with a good recommendation decided it was worth a shot, (fish n chips can be so hit and miss). I thought £6.40 for standard fish and small chips a bit steep ut when I got the package home was pleasatly surprised by the quality and quantity. A real meal.My only negative!! is everything is cooked to order so you have quite a wait but it guarantees freshness and warmth.I will certainly be going back for more.

Best Fish Bar in Ashford, Now I do not say that lightly. So many people say that this chip shop or that chips shop is the best.When you ask them it's the only chip shop they use because it's on their doorstep and they only have COD and CHIPS. I used to be a SALES REP always on the road. I have just about eaten at 50% of chip shops in Kent and 99% of chip shops (Plus 3 Mobiles) in Ashford and always come back to Marino's KENNINGTON For FRIDAY NIGHT Supper. YUM

First time visit and was late at 10pm on a Saturday night and wasn't spoilt at all. Very large, 4 of us could have shared fish and chips for two! Well done (thanks for the free chicken too). Will be back for more most enjoyable

Visited the other day as recommended my google defiantly do not regret it as the food was really hot and tasty. Really reasonably priced. Only took about 5 minutes for our large order. Thanks will visit again.

massive portions, well cooked. the only thing is it takes a while to cook but that is because they cook from scratch. nothing its under a hot lamp. we always get our fish and chops from there.

We love this chippy, and always go there for our monthly cod and chips. As ever, on this occasion, the food was top notch. One minor whinge; it just seems to be getting very expensive. Please don't chase your customers away.

We live in the roads behind the fish bar and its our local - wonderful fish fresh and the chips are double friend where the older gentleman is on the chip frier he knows how to fry the best chips ever! Great people nice art work - originals from one of the young art student ladies serving behind the counter.

Had chips here a few times. My chips have never been greasy, and they're always been really enjoyable. My partner has the fish and he always says it is very tasty. I've had the veggie burger once before and it was really yummy. The portion sizes are really big.

The fish and chips at Marino's is hard to beat. Huge portions of tasty fish, great batter and proper chip shop chips. You can also phone ahead with your order to avoid waiting.

Thought we would give this a try to see if standards had improved since the last time Sadly not no so It clearly states that the fish is cooked fresh this is not so as were going to be given a piece of fish that was already in the warming cupboard when we arrived till we complained the staff were rude and started shouting at us Will never use this place again

Was all right but a bit greasy and small brown spots on the food. Old oil maybe? Obviously this can't be ongoing as there was a queue and we had to wait so maybe we went on a bad day

They cook very good fish and chips and will cook things for you if you require anything special, like light or no batter. Also the portions are quite large.

I don't mind waiting for freshly cooked cod, however it was over cooked and hard with very dark batter, chips were bland. Unfortunately the employees appeared to be straight from the international fast food training school and were merely frying and serving. I don't think they knew how to cook fish. better alternatives close by.

Friendly service, tasty chips, delicious fishcake. Large range of choices. Had I noticed it when ordering I would have tried the potato fritter. Haven't had one of those for about 8 years.

Our favourite fish and chips shop just got even better, thanks to some very slick counter service. The Kennington chippie has done consistently good food for years and the queues show its popularity. The penalty used to be that you often had to wait for a long time, but not so tonight. There was a team of four young women behind the counter who whisked you through very smartly. One took your order, another took payment, another asked about salt or vinegar and the last produced the goods boxed up and ready to go!

Fresh cooked and delicious- what's not to like? Parking is a little pokey round the back but the price is right and the fish and chips are excellent :)

Our first fish and chips since moving to Ashford two years ago. Did some research and asked around. This place comes up trumps. Spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Fish was really very well cooked and of the highest quality. Chips were good too but be warned, the portions are huge. A standard portion fed the three of us and we are not usually light eaters. If you order the large portion you'd need a bucket. Well worth a visit and we'll be going back. It appears they have other places in Ashord and elsewhere but we haven't tried them yet.

Take away fish and chips on a Sunday night: I had steak and kidney pie and chips, and she had jumbo sausage and chips.The chips, although plentiful were limp and mushy and the pie dry (might be in the cabinet too long). Others locally are better.

I was going to have just a portion of chips (to test it out) but a customer in front of me said they were great (even though she later left in a huff because they charged her for coleslaw) The chips had been preheated several times in my opinion, they were Luke warm and floppy...gross! The cod, at £4.90, did not appear to be that fresh. The skin was left on and, for the price was rather small! The cod was so greasy, it was disgusting. The grease worked it's way through the box and poured onto my trousers. I have yet to see if it comes out in the wash. At over £12 for two cod and chips, very very bad and I felt 'rooked' and hungry. I had to get some sweets across the road to get the taste of grease out of my mouth! Yuk!!!
