Slow service, very very unfriendly waitress, cocktails poor and signs saying had to pay in cash but yet when we said we didn’t have a cash, the card machine suddenly started working.

We went here for a birthday meal for my Dad and were not dissappointed. We all had a different dish and everyone was very impressed with the quality of their food. It's a really nice atmosphere and decor too, and quite reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend and be back again for more.

Been before and the restaurant has a lovely rustic feel to it. However on this occasion the food was veryaverage and way off par with Italian restaurants nearby or in Glasgow. A group of eight of us went and the portion sizes varied massively from dish to dish, mainly due to the different sizes of plates and bowls they use, so expect 80% plate on one pasta dish to a plate filled to the brim on another pasta dish. For consistency…Why they don’t just weigh or measure a portion out rather than use ridiculously huge plates with a ladle sized serving bowl is beyond me? Service was particularly slow (45 mins between courses) and staff seemed to be occupied dealing with takeaway. Overall the dishes weren’t anything special and certainly wouldn’t rush back. Restaurant needs to improve in a couple of areas and really hope they put more focus on execution and consistency but will be avoiding, at least for the time being.

Really poor takeaway delivered. Ordered the chicken Milanese. Overly tangy sauce and a tiny piece of chicken which was practically inedible and tough. For £11 not good at all. I'm not usually prone to giving negative reviews. However this is not the first time Mariannas takeaway was poor quality and poor value. Have emailed the restaurant before but they never get back to you. Such a shame. Could be good .

Waitresses were very pleasant and the food was good but nothing special. However the big negative was that there are far too many tables. They back on to each other and the chairs are touching the ones behind. We were there at a weekend and there were 5 people at 4 person tables. The tables are tight enough for 4 so 5 must be impossible if you are having a meal and drinks. Don't know if this is standard or if they are trying to make as much as possible during the "financial crisis". Either way we won't be back.

Had a fantastic meal at Marianas - food, staff, service and atmosphere all brilliant! Myself and six friends had been let down by another restaurant and Marianas served our table of seven on Wed night with no notice. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more and will be returning next year for our annual Xmas night out. Everybody was so impressed! Looking forward to returning soon :)

The food was disgusting to the point we didn't even finish half of the food. The food left a nasty taste in your mouth afterwards. Just a joke to call yourself an Italian restaurant. Thank god there was a domino's down the street, domino's are more Italian than this Place. Don't waste your money on horrible food when you wouldn't feed it to your dog The Waitressing staff are lovely and friendly, about the only thing we enjoyed about the hole Experience.

Had a lovely meal but no dessert as we were told we only had 10 minutes at the table. We made no complaint. We were shown out to the beer garden which is covered and heated. No complaint. Got told we couldn't get a bill as there was a mix up. We agreed to pay the total without a breakdown as we didn't want to make a fuss. But then were told that as 4 of our party hadn't showed we were not getting the £40 deposit back! (9 out of 13 went). We were having a bit of a moan at that! Our total bill being well over £300 so would have left a tip anyway! We then got the very angry Manager shouting at us because we were complaining and we were chased out to the street and told we were not welcome back. Needless to say we are never going back anyway! There are nicer restaurants that don't charge a deposit. Don't take the risk.

Decided to try Marianas takeaway for the first time and found it very underwhelming. I ordered 2 pizzas, kids pizza meal and a portion of chips for collection. The order came to around £25. Got home to discover I hadn't been given the kids fruit shoot and one of the pizzas was half burnt. Both things I can deal with however a little disappointed considering the price. The kids pizza is very small so best to bare in mind in case you have an older child (my son is 6 and was still hungry afterwards). As for the main pizzas, they were edible. Nothing more and nothing less. Not something I can recommend and definitely not a kind of pizza I would expect from an Italian restaurant. Reminded me of the pizzas from an Indian/kebab shop. The 2 bigger pizzas were also only cut into quarters. Chips were good though! Overall, I can't say I will be back in a hurry especially for the price and the standard of food.

Visited with a couple of family members and couldn’t fault the place. Made everyone feel welcome and staff were extremely friendly. The food was delicious, fast service and really good quality for money! Will 100% be back!

Great little restaurant on Main Street in Kirkintilloch. Attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had a lovely night. The food was delicious with very generous portions. Will absolutely return to this little gem

We haven’t been here for a while as I’ve moved away, however it’s just as good as I remember. Mostly new staff, but all very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely. We had the specials (gnocchi and clam linguini) and it was delicious. We just love the feel of the place, all the decorations and Italian produce makes it feel very authentic. We were seated outside in the new beer garden area which is really nice. Would continue to recommend this place.

Our first visit having been recommended to go. Hand sanitiser on the wall as you enter the restaurant. Staff are friendly and engaging, in particular with our 5 year old granddaughter who chose fish fingers and chips despite her request to go to an Italian restaurant !! My lasagne was delicious. My husband ordered pasta Mariana , he noted the substitution of white onion for red, the absence of a “touch of cream” and felt the portion could be a little more generous. We expected staff to wear masks but none did.

Went with a friend for dinner during the lockdown and the meal was superb,the restaurant was kitted out for COVID. This is our second visit and the standards were very high. Both of us started with the Prawns on toast and the prawns were so fresh.I had the Ravioli with lobster filling large succulant portions and my friend had the spicy meatballs I finished of with tiramisu my friend with ice cream all the food was freshly prepared and the staff were brilliant.I would recommend a visit especially to support local businesses at this time

Just had the most delicious meal from Marianna’s in their beer garden!! Food was piping hot and so amazing (as always) Staff were absolutely lovely, made sure they were complying with social distancing but still making sure we were well looked after. Beer garden is great - it was raining but well covered and heated. Small extra touches Marianna’s have done to the place made it the perfect date night for us despite the circumstances. We were visiting the exhibition in the Auld Kirk Museum and chose to eat here for lunch. I chose from the very reasonably priced lunch menu. Antipasto then linguini with seafood! The linguini dish was fantastic!! The seafood was plentiful and perfectly cooked. However make sure you allow plenty of time! The wait for each course was LONG!

We went for a birthday celebration,the food was delicious and plenty of it too, my problem was that the tables are very tight in, so was difficult to get into corner seats as the back of the chair hits the wall behind, also, it was quite cold in the area of the restaurant that we were sat due to the back door being open for people going out to smoke, as a result everytime someone went through the interior doors to use the bathroom or go out, the wind blew in.

We have been going to Mariana's for years now, every visit for (nice strong) coffee is great, every meal is great. Staff are friendly and helpful, have treated our children like princes, and set a nice tone.Food tastes fresh and packed with flavour. I have lived in kirky for all my life (42 years). I don’t usually eat out here and go to Glasgow instead. I tried Mariana’s for lunch today for the first time. I was very pleasantly surprised. Lovely inside, authentic cosy Italian design. I don’t eat Italian food normally because I think it’s usually boring. Pasta in tomato sauce doesn’t usually do it for me. My wife persuaded me to give Marianas a go. Well..... the pasta dish I had was quite superb!! I literally licked the plate clean. It was a cream of tomato sauce with Italian sausage garlic and parsley. Honestly, it was superb and far from boring. I’ll definitely be back for that dish alone and look forward to trying many more. It tasted like everything is made fresh for you instead of the usual Frankie and Benny’s mass produced rubbish. Staff were excellent too, attentive and friendly. I feel daft now for not having gone years ago.

Such a lovely atmosphere! We were popping in for a quick bite so was little disappointed the couple next to us were served quicker and left before us. However the ambience and good quality food made up for this. My first visit but I'll be back. Has a real family feel to it and definitely worth a try.

We booked a table for 6pm a couple of weeks ago and were advised they would need it back for 7.30pm. This was ideal as we had to be somewhere else at 7.30pm. On arrival at 6pm a female staff member advised our table would be ready in 5 minutes and directed us to stand and wait next to the table which to our amazement was still occupied and there was no sign of the party getting ready to leave!! At 6.15pm we advised the same female staff member we were just going to leave as time was marching on and to our astonishment she said the table was almost ready!! Clearly this was not the case and we were feeling very uncomfortable standing next to said table while people were on their night out. As we all left, no apology was offered for the fact that we still were not seated and believe it or not, this staff member AGAIN said the table was nearly ready!!!! Incredible - very disappointing customer care. All ended well though as we were accommodated by Nonna's kitchen across the road and had an excellent meal there with brilliant customer service :-)

Dissapointing experience. Unfortunate to dine there on a quiet Friday. Staff eager to leave. Ambiance consisted of floors being brushed, mopped, a 'here's your hat, what's your hurry' attitude. The smell of bleach overwhelming. No acknowledgement of my meal left half untouched because of this. Asked to speak to the manager. Was told was normal. We paid our £61 (no tip) and left. Spoke to the owner, her gloves were on to defend. No apology for bad ⁷experience. She delighted in telling that the other remaining couple actually stayed for coffee. Needless to say I won't return, or recommend.

Quick visit for coffee. As always we received great service and staff all very friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere and our favourite place for coffee, lunch or dinner in Kirkintilloch. Well worth a visit.

One of the best Italian's I have had in the Glasgow area. Had many recommendations from local friends and food/service was excellent. Glad I went and will definitely be back!

Food was amazing, very fresh and full of flavour, the menu changes often and although they never had the risotto I wanted on the menu, they went above and beyond and made it for me! Highly recommended, very welcoming and lovely authentic decor really displayed well!

As we all know plastic straws are harmful to the environment and our sealife. When I went here I noticed that you use plastic straws, next time I’m here I hope to see paper straws or no straws at all would be better. If people want straws they can bring their own. Thank you!

Ate here recently with my family it was a large party of 14 celebrating my niece turning 18. The service was really slow and it took so long to bring the starters and main meals to come out. The food itself was lovely, however a couple of the pasta dishes were so Al dente that they were inedible, which was a shame. The staff were really helpful but there is so much room for improvement especially with the length of time it took to serve food. I appreciate it is a small restaurant, but a large party comes with a hefty bill so it would be expected at the very least to have faster service,bearing in mind it had been booked well in advance.

Family lunch. An inexpensive delight with excellent Italian food, service and drink. Intimate restaurant but the decor must be a nightmare and dust in gathering terms.

Staying near by, this is my go to place for a nice pizza or quick night out with friends. The food is always very fresh and tasty. The staff really kind and attentive. Compared to many generic pub grub places available in the area, this place has a real family run friendly atmosphere. The decor is inviting and you don't feel rushed. Although not obviously signposted there is a nice beer garden out the back if you want to sit and have a drink after your meal. I always have the pizza as it is amazing. My only small request would be that they offer balsamic vinegar on the side of salads and starters instead of assuming the customer wants loads on the salad. If I want to take out a friend for a meal in kirkintilloch this would be my first choice every time. Great food,great staff, cosy friendly atmosphere you will have a good night here.

Went there with a friend and what a meal. The restaurant for a Thursday night was very busy and that says a lot. Both of us started with the gamberoni,piping hot with 6 large prawns very spicy. I had the sea bass my friend had chicken escalope,all fantastic size portions,everything cooked fresh then we finished with the tiramasu. The owner spoke to us and the service was first rate,the chef is to be commended for his high standards,I believe they do a curry night on a Monday,cant wait to try. I would most certainly recommend a vist.

dropped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. staff were welcoming and attentive, lunch menu was varied, nice ambience and when the food swiftly arrived it was gorgeous. so much so that we returned for an evening meal the following week.

Embarrassingly I've ignored this Italian for ages simply because it's in the main street of my local town. It's not posh but the two important things are perfect, food and service. The staff are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The food is all prepared on site allowing for alterations to menu items, particularly beneficial to the vegetarian and child in our group. Five of us had an assortment of starters, mains and desserts and every dish was complimented. That has never happened before!

Welcoming atmosphere, nicely busy. Food was very nice, full of flavour. Very big portions, which can be a bit off putting if you don't have a massive appetite or if you want to have pudding. Also would have been nice to have some nice Italian salads to choose from as a main course.

Love the food, the staff are mostly very nice, Amy in particular, prices are reasonable for the most part, however they always have large parties in for celebrating events, and they are usually full of cackling loud drink females who end up hijacking your experience, and making it impossible to hear your conversation.
