Mariachi in Edinburgh, City of

All really good. We found it by chance during our walk and we really liked it. There was also quite a bit of room. The tacos are small so I recommend getting a starter like the nachos which I absolutely recommend! Very kind waitresses. They also make one of the best Margaritas I've ever had.

What a fantastic restaurant, it was so good we went back again the following night as well, we turned up without a booking and although the restaurant was quite full they gave us a table. The staff were really helpful and knowledgable about the food. We had king prawn tacos, vegetable quesadillas, nachos and a tray of sides guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños. The food was absolutely delicious we would highly recommend this restaurant.

Average food lacking the spark / attention to detail you might expect at this price point. Cocktails were very good though and reasonably priced. Service was questionable and an automatic 10% service charge was added which didn’t necessarily feel justified.

We took a Burrito and a Fajitas and they were very very good. We went there twice 😋

Food was all very good however the guacamole tasted like plain mashed avocado with some chopped coriander.. this was just missing some other ingredients/ seasonings.

Lovely food and brilliant margaritas!

First things first, GET the brownie for dessert. I'm not a sweets guy, so I foolishly didn't get it the first night, my savvy wife did however and so I tried a little piece and it was literally heaven. Now onto the food, my wife is vegetarian and loved the food here. Several options for her, and it was delicious. I was twisted on what to order, either the veggie option that came highly recommended or somthing meat. I chose a beef chimichinga and was not disappointed. It was stunning, the whole meal was stunning. So much so that in a brand new city, full of other restaurants, we decided to go back again for our second night. Which is when I also wisely ordered the Brownie. It's was all stunning!!!

Birthday week so set out to visit this place and Miros Mexican, and safe to say one is one star and the other is here! The food was incredibly tasty and cooked really well. The wings were fantastic and the deep heat in some dishes was wow. The price is fair but when compared to the food quality then I’d say it was good value. Service - only 2 members doing the floor so no real interaction as they busy but with 10% added service charge they don’t really need to go above and beyond. Loses a star simply because of the service charge, I don’t like an automatically added service charge on tables under 6 and for giving me a dirty fork, twice. Overly really good food. Nice location and very casual dining, will 100% be back.

Not a typical Mexican restaurant, inside I did not see any member of the staff with Mexican origin. The dishes are not bad,normal taste, but I have tried better Mexican restaurants in the UK.

I've been here once before during Edinburgh festival with my daughter, being a family who really enjoy mexican food , we really really enjoyed our food and experience here. So Me and my husband booked for our anniversary last night ( Feb 10th 2024) of course with the rugby being on it was super busy , but the atmosphere was lovely. We were seated right at the back which was nice and staff were chatty and friendly. They brought us a complimentary glass of fizz to toast our anniversary, which a lovely gesture. I had the chimachunga and my husband the enchiladas both were lovely 😋 we also had the chips & guacamole, which were yum- were served hot! All n all it was great food,nice atmosphere and we will defo be returning.

Went in because everything else was close and it was a bit disappointed. One member of the staff (don’t know her name) was very rude, although another lady was very nice and friendly. Food was okay and good price.

I have been coming to this place a few times and always it is great, it is consistently good and feels more authentic than the rest of the majority Mexican restaurants in town. My favourite is the enchiladas!

Hugely impressed and grateful for the service we received last night. Food was excellent. Starter of nachos and chicken wings (with XXX hot sauce). Nachos super tasty and chicken wings almost burned my face off - perfect!! Mains of pork and veggie chimichanga - both amazing. Guacamole seasoned really well. Will definitely be back. Mega thanks to Matt and the rest of the the staff. 11/10

Best Mexican!! Delicious and light food with very good portions. Would happily come here again to try more things off the menu. Lots of veggie options too and an amazing array of cocktails! Also staff were so accommodating and friendly and knowledgable about their menu.

Best Mexican food I’ve had! We had the enchiladas, chicken fajitas, rice, and beans. The portions were perfect and the food tasted amazing. I also had a mojito which was lovely! The service was also great and the staff were lovely.

All all-around wonderful experience. Good food, good drinks, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. They even ended the meal with a wee free tipple. My date who grew up eating authentic Mexican said it tasted like home, too. Will definitely go back next time I’m in Edinburgh.

This was by far the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. My partner and I were in Edinburgh for a little getaway and decided to eat out posh on one of the nights. We ended up looking at what was in the area and didn’t really fancy the abundance of Italian or French food in the area so decided on a little Mexican we walked past earlier in the week. It’s safe to say, this may be one of the best meals I have ever had. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so polite and made you feel very welcome. The food I had here was better than food I have had in Mexico itself 💗

Food and service was superb. Staff were really friendly and chatty so the atmosphere couldn’t have been nicer. Would highly recommend to anyone and will be coming back if and when we visit Edinburgh again.

The portions were a little small compared to the price, but it was very delicious, and we told our Turkish waiter that we were in a hurry and asked him to bring it quickly, and our food arrived in exactly 8 minutes. Thanks a lot!

Ordered chimichanga and chicken tacos, the chimichanga was burnt though tasty inside. The chicken tacos were very dry and bland. The cocktails were tasty but had a bit too much ice.

Wir haben Pork,Chicken und Beef tacos gegessen. Mit Abstand am besten waren meiner Meinung nach die Pork Tacos. Es hat uns sehr lecker geschmeckt und die Lage des Restaurants ist natürlich auch perfekt.

Although they advertise a lot of the dishes as gluten-free, most of the food is not suitable for coeliac's, so disappointing with lack of choice.

Had a family dinner here one evening and I am dying to return, drinks were fab, food amazing. We had our 2 young kids with us and they also loved it. Great atmosphere and friendly staff

Staff night out, table of 10. Staff were excellent, in particular the young waitress in charge of our table. Very polite and friendly, attentive and really looked after us all. Food was OK, nothing special tbh for Mexican food enthusiast.

Quick service , nice food. Demolished quickly! Atmosphere was a bit boring but that’s down to the clientele not the venue.

They handled the 10 people reservation super well. Very nice cocktails, food and service. One of the best brownie we’ve ever had and everyone at this table are fussy about food. Well done team. Don’t leave without a brownie, you’ll keep talking about it.

Had pulled pork, shredded chicken and fish tacos. The pulled pork (cochinita pibil) tacos were by far the best tacos I have ever had in my life and I am still thinking about them several days later. Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in Edinburgh

Food is delicious and my boyfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed ours. Many vegetarian options available and GF options for most dishes. Beautiful service, would recommend!

Loved it! Had the nachos and the Baja fish tacos 🌮. Really good food, the staff were attentive and friendly and my good lady had a raspberry tequila cocktail 🍸. Three course meal and drinks for under £70. I was impressed 👌

The food here was very tasty. Portion sizes were great and the staff were friendly. The frozen margarita also tasted good and was well worth it! The place is on the casual-side, but we’ll worth going to for the great food and drink!

Went to Mariachi’s with my family to celebrate my birthday. It’s in a lovely location and the staff were accommodating and very friendly. Not to mention the food and cocktails were delicious and there was a good variety of options on the menu (especially vegetarian options). If you love Mexican food, I recommend visiting whilst you’re in Edinburgh.

Had an evening meal here before a gig, lovely friendly staff who were also very helpful. The pornstar martini cocktails were delicious. Food on menu is also marked what is gluten free. I didn't go for any of the usual small plates that I normally would at a Mexican, instead I had a quinoa salad with halloumi, very tasty and filling.

Amazing Mexican food! The nachos and chicken burrito were really nice. The restaurant itself felt a little dated and I felt it could do with being made more modern. However, overall it was a really lovely evening and I had a great time.

Big fan, huge, even got the t-shirt. I am never disappointed on a visit here. I'm working through the mains menu, so have a different meal each visit. The food is fantastic, the service superb and the Rose wine, Sangria and Pina Coladas, just top off a super meal. My favourite desert was Banoffee Churros, on this visit they were not on the menu. However, I did get extra chocolate, toffee and cream.... mouth watering.Thanks to the Staff for another great night.

If could give 3.5 rating I would. Better than average but not quite " very good".We booked as visiting Edinburgh and reviews were positive. Starters were OK. I had ribs and although tasty there wasn't much to them. Had better. Nacho starter as well was a bit on the small side . The two mains we had were very tasty. Service was good and a nice atmosphere in restaurant. Would I go back?? Probably not but only because food was good but didn't blow us away.

The food was amazing (I had the enchiladas) and nice atmosphere and staff. There is no childrens menu as such but our children ordered quesilladas from the starter menu with a side order of fries between them, which was just the right size for a childrens meal and which they rated highly. If we were local we would be back.

Overall a very good meal. The staff were friendly, venue is in a great location and is nice inside. Menu is very varied, quesadillas were nice and fresh and the chicken enchiladas full of flavour. Pudding menu is a little restricted.

We risked turning up on a Monday night as a table of 3 with no reservation, we couldn’t get a table inside but we were okay to eat outside as it wasn’t too cold.Food and drinks menu both had plenty of options to pick from. I had chicken enchiladas which were good but the sauce seemed to need a little bit of something extra. My friends had fajitas which they confirmed tasted good but they both felt the wraps were too small. Service was okay it just seemed there were too many customers for the amount of servers. We were invited inside when we asked for the bill (it was starting to rain) which we decided to do and had another round of drinks.

Massive fan of Mexican food and after a long days drive from the other side of Scotland we were looking forward to Mariachis as it had been on our list to try in Edinburgh for a while.It didn’t disappoint, all of the dishes we had were incredibly tasty. The food was really fresh and seasoned well. Drinks were also really high quality, definitely recommend the frozen margaritas.If anything we both thought the fajitas could have been a bit more spicy and the tortillas need to be a little bigger for the portion sizes.However I highly recommend this lovely little place if you are craving quality Mexican food in Edinburgh.

This was our second visit to this great restaurant. We only realised when we were there that the last time was 11 years ago! When we decided to go back to Edinburgh it was our first choice to book! It was a great as we remembered. The food was amazing, tasty, and arrived quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. The Tommy’s margarita is just spectacular! The atmosphere was great and we we definitely won’t leave it so long before going back!

My wife and I relocated to the UK from California 3 months ago, and we were desperately craving real Mexican food. Well, Mariachi delivered, with very good burritos and enchiladas, guacamole, home-made chips and tortillas, and good margaritas.As expected for the UK, the meat was of extremely high quality, and, in general, the food was under-spiced to our tastes. On the whole, though, it scratched that itch.

Although high waiting times for food due to the restaurant being busy, it certainly does not disappoint and was worth any wait! We ordered the nachos, stuffed jalapeños & quesadillas to start, with chicken enchiladas as our main… WOW. We eat Mexican food pretty often, and this restaurant blows the larger chains out of the water. Great spice level, great sized portions, and great taste! Only shame is there is not one closer to home for us! Waiters work their ass off, as do the chefs in the kitchen! A must visit if your even slightly fond of Mexican cuisine.

Whether its because this restaurant is on the road that is said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley, I dont know, but its really expensive. Mexican food is easy to cook, with simple ingredients, with a good atmosphere. Mariachi gives you all of this (along with good service), but its expensive. So prepare yourself for that. The cost did take the gloss off of a nice meal in a nice environment. The food was well cooked and tasted very nice.

Food was absolutely to die for. We shared nachos, deep fried jalapeños and quesadillas to start along with enchiladas for main. All the food was spot on, staff were brilliant! The sangria was delicious too. The food has a kick but it is a Mexican so what do you expect, it is the perfect amount even for someone who doesn’t like really spicy food. Worth the slightly longer waiting time for food and very reasonably priced within Edinburgh. Defo a must visit!

Was looking forward to this mexican after seeing the good reviews. Ordered the enchiladas which were a bit too hot for my taste but my partner ordered steak fajitas which looked very delicious. Good if youre a bit better with spicy food than I am.

Started off with cocktails which were heavenly... A very talented mixologists who we can tell had a lot of experience. And then the food took it up to the next level. We ordered all vegetarian dishes which were fantastic. Perfect balance of flavours. Would give 6 stars if I could

The starters were great - we had the tostada and the loaded nachos. We also the the sizzling fajitas which we okay however the portion was too big! They had a great selection of drinks especially the frozen margaritas. Great for vegetarians and also people who are gluten free

Food was nice but nothing special and pricey for what you get. Disappointed in the obviously packet brought grated cheese that came with the fajitas and the fact they came with 4 small tortillas- meaning you have more filling than can fit so you spend extra to get additional tortillas. Pricey cocktails however delicious and so would pay for these again- good variety of spirits and flavours including some frozen ones. Some lovely staff, some slightly rude when not ordering something from them.

We had various starters and tacos and really liked them. However, the service (or at least our waitress) was not ideal: when taking our order she looked not only in a hurry, but also annoyed. When we arrived the table was very sticky, but also our bad for not asking it to be cleaned since we didn't want to "bother" the already annoyed waitress. The drinks were really good (we got a pina colada and a watermelon margarita).

We had a lovely time last night at Mariachi. The food was top quality and the waiting staff were lovely. The homemade guacamole was delicious. There’s a really good selection of drinks (soft and alcoholic). The atmosphere is really relaxed and we really liked the decor.

What an awful disappointment - visited last night. Sat in a window seat which was fine until the cigarette smoke wafting in from the queue for the nightclub next door became overwhelming. Our waiter was dreadful verging on rude. Ten minutes wait to order drinks - it wasn’t overly busy - they arrived incomplete had to ask twice for the missing glass of coke. Ordered food but they don’t have any actual menus so you just read them off your phone - with nothing to point at and the waiter not actually going over what we ordered two of the 6 dishes were wrong. Goats cheese and spinach quesadilla arrived as melted cheese between one tortilla - 6 quid at that. Went with our daughter who doesn’t like overly spicy food - yes we could have eaten elsewhere but we are trying to broaden her tastes. Asked for plain chicken in the fajita - it arrived super spicy. Asked again they took it away and returned the same meal ten minutes later.- if stuff is being freshly prepared they should at least try and Acco you - good luck if you have any food alkergies. We then asked to order dessert and as 4 waiting staff laughed and joked at the desk we all sat and waited and waited and waited…. We got it after getting up heading to the till to see if anyone fancied serving us. Food itself was just ok - guacamole was bland the chips straight from a packet not a lot of then and not warned up. the burrito was nice. No idea where the great reviews are from maybe he got a bad night- a bad waiter and a bad experience- Edinburgh is full of brilliant restaurants- this isn’t one of them- look elsewhere. .

Good location, great value for money. Friendly atmosphere, relaxed for couples or familes . A tasty filling meal for not a lot. The sangria is a must!

Came here for dinner whilst on a short stay in Edinburgh City.The staff were really friendly, polite and helpful. They found us a table inside, despite being rather busy. They provided great service throughout the meal and made us feel really welcome. The food was simple, tasty and well presented which all in all made for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Oh yes, the Sangria is well worth ordering though lots of people were ordering their range of Frozen Margueritas.

We spent a few days in Edinburgh and had decided we wanted to go for a Mexican. We looked online and booked Mariachi. Although they were accepting walk ins, I would recommend booking as it was busy - even on a Monday. The service we received was excellent and the food we had was beautiful. We were so impressed. We had starters, main and dessert, and were delighted with all the courses. The food also came quickly. The cocktails were fantastic too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice restaurant in Edinburgh. We will definitely be returning next time we come to Edinburgh!

We didn’t book and they managed to squeeze us in before the next booking arrive. No problem!Simple menu but everything one would want. Very fast and friendly service. Tasty food. Kids live their mocktails. Even had time for desserts. 10% service charge added which I didn’t mind and to be fair, hard to tip these days when I don’t carry cash. Tacos look small but by the time we had nachos and desserts, it was perfect.

We had a lunch yesterday which consisted of corn on the cob and battered chillies for starter and chimichanga (pulled beef in one and chicken in the the other) with a side of chips and tortillas chips with guacamole. Everything was utterly delicious, would have thought the tortillas chips would not have been out of a packet but they were still nice as they were heated. Had the 5 salsa's but would not order this again (had to try)Can't fault the food at all or the staff, the waitress that served was very goodCan't wait to go back

Visited in August on the first night of our honeymoon. Booked in advance as I wasn’t sure how everything would be with Covid regulations. Service was excellent. The food is fantastic. Enjoyed a lovely selection of starters, followed by enchiladas. Lovely drinks as well. Will definitely return when we are next in Edinburgh.

Not our first visit to this restaurant and definitely won't be our last. We are severely lacking in Mexican restaurants in our home town of Aberdeen as a result of the pandemic so it was great to have the option of a meal here.We opted for chicken and steak fajitas to share and we were delighted with both dishes. The portion sizes were huge and we did struggle to eat it all. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our meal.

I never normally pick the salad option but the quinoa salad was amazing!!! Tasted great and the service was really quick and friendly. Not the cheapest but definitely makes up for it in quality.

Stopped in for a drink on our first night in Edinburgh, Hannah served us and was amazing from start to finish, very attentive and full of fantastic recommendations of places for us to visit, nothing was too much trouble, amazing drinks and amazing service, will definitely be back! Thank you Hannah!
