Marco's Spanish Tapas Bar in Rochford

We have both tried the three course lunch menu and, at £12 a head, it is extremely good value!The food,being tapas,is served in small dishes, but in all fairness, it is more than filling!The selections are good and very tasty however the service varies quite a bit. On our first visit,we were served by a very friendly curly haired blonde lady who was excellent and the service was excellent but on the second occasion,the service was incredibly slow and we waited almost an hour between courses, the only saving grace was the fact that we were all chatting a lot, so it didn’t matter too much.Nevertheless, the food and value will still ensure that we visit again and overall the experience is good.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday night, everything was spot on. The food was delicious and freshly cooked, so flavoursome. Staff were very attentive and friendly, made you feel very welcome. Safety precautions for COVID were very good also. Lovely outdoor seating area in the garden with lots of patio heaters and cover so felt comfortable and warm whilst eating outside. Will definitely be returning - thank you!

Had a great meal Sunday evening in the newly rennovated garden. Hospitality was excellent as ever and the food delicious and tasty it was really good to be back. Really love what they have done with the place during Lockdown and we look forward to getting back there again soon.

Have visited Marcos for years and always loved it. It’s my husband 50th and he wanted Marcos for his special takeaway dinner (as we still can’t go out due to lockdown). Well it was as I expected. Absolutely delicious. The only thing missing was being in Marcos with the lovely staff and great atmosphere. Can’t wait when it is open and we can visit again.

Had an excellent takeaway last night. We wanted to support local restaurants during this lockdown and we love the food here so thought we’d try takeaway. Food was lovely and hot when it arrived. Delivery for the time we agreed and no contact. We had some garlic mushrooms and Saffron potatoes left over so had them for lunch the next day. A good quality takeaway if you want to support restaurants during lockdown and looking for something different to the usual Indian, Chinese or pizza. Will Order again.

We decided to take the opportunity of going out for a meal one last time before 2nd lockdown and the decision where to go was easy! We have been before and had a lovely meal and yet again we were not disappointed. Fabulous food, excellent service and great atmosphere. Cant wait to go again!

We ordered from their takeaway menu and what a delicious meal all food was piping hot and as high quality as in the restaurant. My daughter collected and from order to eating it was 30 mins! On collection the guy was very friendly and polite xx great service and well done Marcos team! We will of course be back soon xxx

Everything about this visit ticked all the boxes. The 3 of us (including one child - free meal with a full paying adult) really enjoyed our lunch. Great ambience, service and tapas. Covid regulations adhered to but we still felt welcomed and cosily settled for a perfectly long lunch on this rainy October day. Had a fantastic lunch at Marco‘s today. Food and service absolutely super. Extensive menu choice with help from staff when ordering. Incredibly good value & house wine great. Staff very attentive and all complying with PPE rules throughout. Entire restaurant felt safe , secure and comfortable with all COVID 19 guidelines being met. Booking for next visit already!

Had the paella as was on offer for £30 per couple and have to say it was the most delicious paella ever! Staff were very attentive and all was in place to be COVID safe, highly recommend this lovely, welcoming restaurant that served superb food.

My husband and I visited not long after restaurants opened and sat in the courtyard! The welcome and service was fabulous! The food was fabulous and highly recommend it! It was like being in the Med as weather was lovely! We will be back very soon! Well done team Marcos

Midweek dinner for two. We arrived and were given a choice of table that were really well socially distanced. All staff were wearing face shields and we felt very safe. Food arrived & oh my days the first taste was just delicious. It’s been sooo long since going out we throughly enjoyed everything. Nice bottle of wine. Great friendly service & fantastic food. Will try not to leave it so long until our next visit.

I read the recent reviews before visiting Marco’s for the first time in years. Drawn to the “Pricey” headline I read further of there being a “Rip off”. Far too harsh and unnecessary was that in my view. As the General Manager replied; prices are on the menu. It’s what you get for that price that might be the issue, but for me and my two guests it was no issue as far as the food was concerned. Quality cuisine, reasonable portions; three tapas dishes for each made a filling main course. With the now common application of a service charge though – and it’s not just Marco’s exercising this – there is a cost not immediately apparent from the menu. General Manager, take note. What you have be mindful of is that with this service charge you’ll be paying over £6 for a pint. Now that is “pricey” whether or not it’s on the menu. So if you stay for 2-3 hours to take in the pleasant surroundings and take on 5 or 6 drinks then this will reflect in the cost of the experience here. So, my advice is enjoy the quality cuisine, but don’t drink too much, or feel the “ouch” when the bill arrives. The one aspect that had the potential to spoil what was a good evening for me and my guests though was how the bill is presented. It is not good form to present to 3 diners at the end of an evening a small piece of paper that says £69 food, £90 drink, £16 service charge, total £175 thank you very much. And when you’re asked to provide the breakdown for such a large drink charge then this shouldn’t have been the problem it was. General Manager, again take note. As I say, if you choose to stay to take in the atmosphere, and drink, then be prepared. The quality of the food will have me wanting to return, and I might even take advantage of one of the discount cards on offer, I just won’t drink so much again!

Visited Marcos on the strength of the government discount scheme. Was it expensive? No more soThan other good quality restaurants. As a party of four we had about 16 dishes plus 8 alcohols. All food was excellent and service also very good even though was quite busy. Service charge was included in final bill, did not begrudge as usually tip. Would go again.

First time back at Marco's since lockdown and we was not dissappointed in any way.We was met at the door and asked to sanitize our hands before entering the restaurant and signed in the tracking book, plenty of visible floor markings and then shown to our table. We had a chat with Marie and Pauline and then ordered our tapas.As usual cooked to perfection by Marcus. All the bowls went back empty as the food is too good to leave.There is still a full menu to chose from unlike a lot of restaurants which are only providing limited menus.Marco's is the friendliest family restaurant that we know and we will not hesitate to kepp coming back.A very enjoyable lunch in a very safe and controlled enviroment.

Had a date night with my wife and the food was amazing as always. The staff were also amazing the way they dealt with every one, they were keeping the tables and everything clean and sanitised. social distancing was also very good but still had a great atmosphere we would highly recommend Marcos bar.

Had a great enjoyable with my Mum as a post Lockdown treat for her. I've been here many times before but never for lunch and as it was a nice day it was excellent to have the opportunity to sit in the garden area.Good rules and regs as is sadly customary right now but these didn't detract from the experience.The food as ever was superb and the staff looked after us very well, thanks Marie and Brad!Will be back again soon.

Haven’t been out for 5 months ! It was our anniversary today and we wanted to go out but my husband was concerned. We love going to Marcos, their food is 10/10. All I can say is their standard has not slipped, food is amazing as usual. Their attention to the COVID restrictions is perfect. My husband was very worried to go out but felt happy and at ease within this restaurant - staff are all very well equipped.

Visited Marco's mid July, food was excellent as always and they have set up restaurant really well for both customer and staff safety in current times, lots of safety measures in place, but still managed to maintain a good atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit.

Visited Marco's for lunch today after lock down with a few friends, please to see all staff wearing face shields, tables arranged more than 2mtrs apart. Sat in the garden which was lovely, plenty of space and shade. As always the lunch time menu was excellent especially the coconut chicken, really worth the set price. All I can say is I am so glad one of my favourite restaurants is open again, and we were made to feel really safe and relaxed. Well done everyone.

It was mine and my husbands first 'date night' since lock down and to celebrate 'no kids' for the evening we decided to have a drink in marco's. We'd been here before for tapas which is lovely but tonight was just a drinks visit. The staff were friendly and made the rules regarding covid restrictions very clear, felt totally safe and at ease with it all and would highly recommend marco's for a drinks night or for a meal. Thanks for making our first night out a good one. :)

During lockdown we have had a lovely meal delivered which was hot and tasted just as it would have done if was eating in the restaurant. My mum has tried one of the lunchtime picnic boxes which she thought was great and I have now been to Marco’s re-opening for lunch (my mum went on their opening day). We felt safe, all hygiene was in place, staff were all wearing masks, there was extra strong hand sanitiser at the door on entering and before the toilets. There was social distancing stickers on the floor but to be honest it was nicer having more room as the tables were spread out. It wasn’t too busy at lunchtime and I wonder what it is like in the evenings and at weekends. There are tables outside but again its better to book as these are first come first served. Food as per usual was of a good standard, we had the lunch menu for £12 each which was just enough for a lunchtime. I would def. recommend going, it felt safe and although the menus were disposable, the staff in masks and when they collected the plates from the table gloves were worn, it didn’t make the experience any the less enjoyable. It was great to be able to go out out again and actually feel safe and enjoy it.

We turned up on the off chance for a lunchtime drink with a few hesitations on how everything was going to be in these unprecedented times. From the minute we arrived we couldn't have felt more comfortable or safer. We were greeted by all staff using PPE, hand sanitizer at the front & the taking of our contact details. We sat outside (taking the last available table!) with more than enough space between tables. Marcos have got it spot on & would definitely recommend to anyone it would be the place to go if you have any reservations with going out at this time.

We went to the reopening of Marcos at lunchtime Tuesday 7th July. and had the most fantastic time.. The food was superb, the staff as friendly as ever and it was wonderful to be sitting in the sunny garden on such a nice afternoon. It was reassuring that it felt such a safe environment with hand sanitiser at the front door and the staff all using full PPE. I cannot recommenced Marcos highly enough and will be visiting again in the next few days.

We have just had our second takeway from Marco's and on both occasions we have been highly impressed with the food we received. We have opted for all our usual favourites but have also taken the opportunity to try some new offerings and in doing so we have founda new Marco's favourite being the mixed seafood in cream and paprika sauce. The cooking of the seafood was tremendous.Really glad to see these guys have adapted to current circumstances and seem to be thriving, hopefully it wont be too long before we can be back there on the premises.

We got a delivery last night and the food was amazing! The staff are always so lovely, the delivery didn’t take ages and it was all completely contactless. Can’t recommend enough, we will definitely be ordering again.

Just had a takeaway from Marco’s as a belated wedding anniversary meal and have to say it was marvellous. Delivered when requested and piping hot it was every bit as good as going to the bar and being waited on.Great to see them taking the initiative to offer take away service and will be doing it again very soon.Thanks Marco’s it was lovely.

Another excellent takeaway from Marco’s. Freshly cooked seafood paella with a lovely chilled bottle of Spanish Sauvignon Blanc. Staters was the amazing Aubergine Salsa and Brie bread. Thanks Marie, Marcus and Brad, whilst the lockdown is in place we’ll be ordering the takeaway food and as soon as we’re allowed we’ll be up there.

Ordered my lockdown birthday dinner from here and was not disappointed. Large portion sizes. Everything tasted fab. Minted lamb was amazing.

We'd intended to book for dinner here to celebrate our anniversary but as the current situation put an end to that plan we were excited to see that a takeaway option was available and decided to give it a try. You can ring from 4pm on the day, the first time I tried the line was busy so gave it 10 minutes and got straight through. We'd already picked what we wanted from the online menu so it was a straightforward process of ordering, paying by card over the phone and then picking a delivery time, made even easier by the gentleman on the end of the phone who was very helpful and cheerful.Our food was delivered bang on time and absolutely piping hot. We've eaten in Marco's several times and always enjoyed the food so were a little apprehensive that as a takeway it wouldn't be as good. Pleased to confirm we had nothing to worry about, everything we ordered was fantastic but we especially loved the sizzling prawns and minted lamb.All in all made for a lovely Saturday night in!

Again Marco's you made by night off work lockdown treat amazing. From the lovely starters of Parma ham, filo veg pastries and boars cheek. Along with the olives ,bread and dips. The coconut prawns were large and succulent and the cheesy mushrooms were creamy, also had steak, the wonderful meatballs, spanish potatoes. A true feast . Everything freshly cooked and piping hot and all delivered to my door by the lovely waitress. Added some Sangria as well and really felt we were on holiday in Spain. Would definitely recommend if you want a great meal use these guys. Help keep our wonderful local restaurant afloat. Well done to all the staff involved.

I ordered a takeaway yesterday afternoon for delivery at around 7.30pm - there are four of us currently in lockdown together and we all chose different mains and side orders too - and a variety of garlic bread - the food arrived promptly, was piping hot and absolutely delicious! It was the first time eating your wonderful food for my husband (whose birthday it was) and son (myself and daughter have eaten with you before) and all of us enjoyed our meal so much - thank you! We will be ordering again - the whole process very easy, friendly, efficient - and above all the food is amazing and great value!

First time from having a take away from this very popular tapas bar. From the minute our order was taken over the phone to the delivery the service was great. Food was delivered exactly when said. Every dish was hot on arrival and each dish was full of flavour and surpassed our expectations. Highly impressed and will definitely be ordering again soon.

Last night we had a home delivery of 9 fantastic tapas dishes. This is our 2nd home delivery since lockdown started and we will be ordering on a regular basis until we can visit this fantastic restaurant in person. The food was piping hot and tasted as delicious as it does when dining at the restaurant. Marcos is a fantastic family run restaurant with such friendly staff and I thoroughly recommend it.

Excellent meal, delivered on time, hot and as good as having it in the restaurant. Takeaway due to the Coronavirus closure, but they are still providing an excellent delivery service. Please support them and hopefully we’ll all be back in there soon enjoying there lovely bar and restaurant.

We had an absolutely fantastic party . Bradley and his colleagues made our party everything we could have wished for and more ! Attention to detail , timings , drinks and food was second to none . If you want great food, good music and fantastic customer service, without a doubt Marco’s is the place togo and they accept meerkat meal deal which is a bonus! I went in with my 10 year old daughter and both of us were made to feel so welcome and were given the best customer service by Bradley & Kate.

First time here on a Friday night and what an amazing night we had. Started off with a meal with family and friends. Food was delicious so much choice and catered for young kids too. Staff were very good and really friendly and helpful. Cocktails were great lots of choice. After meal there was a DJ who was brilliant played all kinds of music took requests too. Kept everyone dancing most of the night. Bar staff were fab too. Thank you to the staff will definitely be back again..

First visit for a surprise birthday meal.

We went for lunch yesterday as it was a Christmas present. Would not go back. The mushrooms were cold, the beef was tasteless and overall was very disappointed. The starters of various breads was far to thick more like doorsteps which we did not expect. The room was cold other customers came in and had the radiator put on but where we sat it was not on but that is just a minor thing in comparison to the food. Sorry for this review but we were really disappointed after reading other reviewers.

Awesome venue hired for exclusive use to celebrate our daughters 18th birthday. Food was delicious and staff were friendly, efficient and couldn’t do enough to make sure everyone had a great time. Thank you all xx

Another successful visit to this long standing Rayleigh venue. Consistently good quality food, warm staff and nice ambiance, twinned with Discounted Loyalty VIP Card, all the ingredients for a special Birthday treat.

We visited Marco's for their Valentines evening, it was truly lovely. As always the staff were friendly, smiling, courteous even though it was very busy, We had a pre-dinner drink a well made porn star martini and then went through to the restaurant. Tables were set out lovely, with a rose and heart shaped cookie to take away. We were expecting to choose from the set menu, which I thought would be hard as I liked so many dishes but were pleasantly surprised when we were told we got everything listed to share. The food was well prepared, beautifully cooked and flavoursome, my husband especially enjoyed the sea bream with chorizo and I loved the wild boar, so so tender. We then finished with a lovely chocolate fondue to share. So we would both like to say well done to the chef the food was amazing. Even though there were 2 sittings and we had the earlier one at no point did we feel rushed and even had time for coffee before we went back into the bar for a further drink. We had a lovely young waitress who was chatty, polite and very friendly. So thanks you all the staff at Marco's for making our Valentines evening truly memorable.

We had not been to Marco's for lunch for a while so thought it was time to revisit and we can confirm that the standard of service and quality and flavour of the tapas dishes have in our opinion only got better over the years.

Amazing food again, had one little problem but was resolved straight away. There was 3 waitresses and 1 waiter, 1 of the waitresses and the waiter was amazing, the other two waitresses was awful. One was very rude and you could tell the other one didn’t want to be there. Had our dinner, asked if we wanted any desert which we said no just the bill please. To then pay the bill, the lady walk off then come back within 5 seconds to tell us we had to get off the table and move to the bar as someone was waiting for our table. Only 5 mins before we was being asked if we wanted desert! I understand it’s a Saturday night and they was busy and had a party, but hadn’t even managed to pick our change up before being told to move. I love the food her and the place is amazing, but I can’t believe how we got told to move after spending the money you do in here

Wonderfully knowledgeable staff who made absolutely certain that my daughter with allergies, my vegetarian husband and myself, strictly gluten free could enjoy a fabulous meal together without any compromises. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Booked a table for 14 for my friends surprise 40th birthday meal. After discussing with Brad we went for the tapas & tinsel option. I was allowed to go up late afternoon to decorate the table which was appreciated. The staff including Marie & Pam were very attentive & let us know when the bar tab we had running was running low. Fantastic evening & everyone had a great time. Can’t recommend enough 5*

Having tasted Tapars in Spain we thought we'd this place a bash, unfortunately, there was a distinct lack of gravy with our chosen chicken dishes

Visited with family & friends , great atmosphere, super music, and drink selection, a winning formula, left to visit other bars but returned back later it was so good.

Visited this somewhat dated Tapars gaff only to find the seats were sticky, which made us ill at the thought of how the kitchen might be, as such we got up and walked, and found s ver tasty Kebab joint across the road, here's some advice Chicco, wipe dem seats.

We have been several times before for various occasions, all of which have been 1st class.

Visited for the first time a couple of months ago but have just got round to writing a review! I've heard by word of mouth that Marcos is a great restaurant and I'm glad to say what Iv'e heard was right! The tapas is delicious, lots of choice, all very fresh tasting. We went for a romantic meal and it's also suited to groups of friends/family as a great atmosphere and looked like you could have a fun night in the bar area if you wanted to make a night of it. We will come back again with our friends.

We had a fantastic meal for my father in law’s 77birthday on Monday evening. Pamela greeted us with a friendly greeting as always & we had a drink at the bar before being shown to our table. For a family of 5 ranging from 14-77 we ordered paella for 2, squid, lamb, chilli prawns, rice, potatoes and other dishes. Amazing service and food, had the house red wine which is very nice. Bradley who cooked for us came to see if everything was good with our meal. Super evening and was made to feel very welcome. Lovely family run establishment 5* all round Thankyou

Brad, Marie and Marcus are always very welcoming, they keep our drinks topped up and provide a fabulous service. The added bonus is seeing the handsome and charming businessmen at the bar.

Have been to Marcos several times over the years, but since my mum is quite a regular I’ve been a couple of times already this year. Marc, Pamela and Bradley are fab hosts and so are the rest of their family Marie and parents who have got to know my mum well over the years and treat her like family which is lovely. Always get a warm welcome now whenever I go in there. Food is lovely, had the light lunch today with an extra dish and it was perfect, with a desert at the end. Tried a glass of the White Sangria too - lethal if you drank loads, but would make a lovely summer drink with lots of ice. We celebrated my mums 80th here too earlier in the year and nothing was too much trouble for them, even to decorating where we were sitting. Would def. recommend lunch and evenings, I know they do entertainment, although I have not been myself but hear its great. Keep up the good work, and hope to see you all again soon, next time will bring the hubby.

My opinion about this restaurant is: the food is good,but I give 3 stars because i know about this Spanish foods and it’s similar to the real deal , but not the same!!

Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Had set menu that was excellent had various tasty dishes to share. Amy and Bradley took good care of us. A very relaxing evening. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely evening.

This was my second visit to Marcos. I was happy with my first visit. Have a great night a Beautiful food. We booked this time because our family were visiting from Norfolk. We had the chef’s plater. This is a mixture of dishes prawns! Oh my god amazing the lamb the pork in fact everything we had was fantastic!! I met Brad the chefs and his team I had to buy him a drink we had an amazing evening and my family have already sent me dats to come back. They loved it to.
