Maray Allerton in Liverpool

I absolutely love this restaurant (and their dockside branch) - their food is beyond delicious and the service is always good too. I have only had one takeaway from them and it was lukewarm by the time we got it home and the portions of some dishes seemed smaller than in the restaurant, which was a bit disappointing. I probably won’t get another takeaway from here, but I am looking forward to them reopening properly!

Superb takeaway roast. Just collected and devoured 2 roast beef takeaways. My wife opted for well done meat. The beef was so tender and every single part was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend.

Gorgeous, hot food collected from the restaurant. Friendly, Covid-safe service on arrival. Had the cauliflower (of course!), lamb kofta, buttermilk chicken and the crispy sprouts. All lovely but particularly enjoyed the sprouts! Will be back for a takeaway and when reopened.

My daughter ordered lamb kebabs & wedges etc , for her partners birthday , what came was a burnt offering absolutely the worst meal ever ! Not even edible , when we tried to complain they said they don’t do refunds & blamed Uber eats ( Uber didn’t cook the food how pathetic) !! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE £45 for a meal thrown in the bin with NO APOLOGIES OR REFUND DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE RIP OFF IGNORANT CON MEN

the first time I take away in Maray and I won't do it again. prices have gone up and quality has gone down! burnt cauliflower and dry felafel. a pity I ate there often but this experience disappointed me a lot

Tuve una cena fabulosa en Maray Allerton, me sentí muy seguro y el servicio fue excelente. Todo lo que comimos estaba muy sabroso, con muchos sabores y texturas interesantes y diferentes. Pollo con suero de leche, shawarma de cordero, chips de camote y coliflor disco todo excelente.

Llamado hoy para almorzar con mi esposo. Claramente, se están tomando muy en serio la seguridad de todos y se siente muy seguro. Nunca habíamos estado antes, así que algunos de los platos pequeños: fuente caliente, zanahorias asadas, pechuga, merluza y pollo con suero de leche. Todo estaba recién hecho y delicioso. El personal conocía cada plato y todos los ingredientes, y también todo el vino, y respondió a todo tipo de preguntas. Las dos camareras que nos atendieron parecen estar deseosas de que tengamos una buena experiencia, lo que realmente hicimos. Estoy tan contenta de haber encontrado espacio para el pudín, el pudín de caramelo pegajoso con salsa de caramelo salado ras el hanout y helado fue una de las cosas más bonitas que he comido en mucho tiempo. It was our first time visiting Maray. We throughly enjoyed all the dishes that we ordered and would definitely return. The only down side is the service is really really slow.

Lovely food, so many flavours and textures. Great service, attentive without being overbearing. Recommend the disco cauliflower: creamy, a bit spicy, perfectly cooked.

Todas las medidas de seguridad son evidentes y nos sentimos a gusto estando aquí.La comida era increíble como de costumbre. Decidió ponerse al día con amigos en la comida fuera para ayudar en el plan. Me alegro mucho de haber elegido Maray, la comida era deliciosa y el servicio fue excelente. Se nota que han pensado mucho en cómo hacerlo lo más seguro posible con menos cubiertas, mesas libres donde colocan la comida y las bebidas para evitar que se inclinen sobre la mesa y un dispositivo inteligente para dividir y pagar factura tan simple que puede hacerlo por su cuenta.He comido en algunos lugares desde que se alivió el encierro, pero Muray definitivamente me ha hecho sentir más a gusto con lo bien que lo han manejado todo. ¡Agregue a esto la deliciosa comida y será un ganador!

What a delightful comfortable meal. Normal warm welcome, well laid out room, all safety measures implemented. Great choice of meals as usual. Very prompt service. Shame to see so many walk up customers turned away even though there were empty table. Well done Maray for playing by the rules. It would be easy to take short cuts, but no chance here. Staff all very very busy but so efficient. Josie looked after us (many thanks Josie). We’re off to Bold street in a few weeks and looking forward to it already.

Couldn't wait to return to this local restaurant once the COVID rules had been relaxed.Well worth the wait the new arrangements were impressive less covers more room and a novel way to pay...they have obviously given the new way of doing things a lot of thought and made our early evening meal a treat.It goes without saying the food was so good we forgot how good it is so tasty and complemented by the wine.Will have to go at least once a week in August to take up the 50% offer.

Every last single mouthful of our lunch was a taste sensation. Really unusual combinations, but everything works and so much of what you'll eat here you've never tasted before.The signature cauliflower dish was back on top form: twice, pre-lockdown, it was mushy and overcooked, but today it had sufficient bite and the dressing was a visual as well as a taste sensation.If you've not tried this place you really must. Truly outstanding grub.

So happy to eat in this fantastic restaurant again after months of lockdown. It was excellent from start to finish. The new arrangements were very good and made us feel safe. The food and wine were excellent as always and we will be back soon especially for the disco cauliflower.

Desde el momento en que llegamos, nuestro servidor nos atendió bien (era un hombre joven con cabello castaño corto y anteojos; el nombre comenzó con una J o G si no recuerdo mal). No hay muchas opciones en el menú que me gustó. El servidor preguntó muy responsablemente si teníamos algún alérgeno que nunca antes me habían preguntado. La comida llegó a intervalos agradables. El servidor ayudó a recomendar un plato de inicio (panes planos con tazón de varias salsas) y mi novio me encantó. Toda la comida era deliciosa y el pudín sobresalía (caramelo pegajoso). Nos dieron nuestra factura de inmediato y pagamos en una aplicación interesante que nunca habíamos visto antes. En general, una gran noche, el servidor es un crédito para la empresa.

Cuatro de nosotros escogimos varios platos para compartir y nos quedamos encantados con todos: falafel sharer, papas fritas con hummus, mejillas de bacalao, koftas de cordero, remolacha, champiñones, merluza, garbanzos y estofado de arándano, etc. Dos botellas de viña manchega. y un par de cafés encajan perfectamente. 120 libras por cuatro - ¡precio justo! Volvería otra vez.

He estado algunas veces ahora. Muy buena comida. Muy buen valor. Los platos son imaginativos y sabrosos. Tres platos y estás lleno a punto de estallar. Mi última visita fue con mi hija que tiene once años. Pensé que podría tener problemas con el menú, pero lo intentó todo y le encantó. Es su nuevo lugar favorito. La coliflor es legendaria, pruébalo, no te decepcionará.

Mi grupo de siete tenía una reserva confirmada para las 21 celebraciones de cumpleaños de mi hijo en la calle. Habíamos venido especialmente de Leeds. Nos sentamos rápidamente y tomamos el pedido. Veintiún platos ordenados (3 por persona), algunos eran iguales. El tiempo necesario para servirnos fue horrible, con nio disculpas reales por parte del personal. Cuando cuando se ordenaron dos platos idénticos (falafel) uno llegó, con el otro aprox. 90 minutos después Me dijeron que así es como funciona la cocina.Un plato (bahji) se perdió todos juntos. Llegó después de que nos lo recordamos y cortó la factura gentilmente.El servicio era muy pobre, sin ninguna disculpa real.La comida era buena, porciones pequeñas, precios justos a caros. La factura total con servicio (sí, pagué el 10%) fue de 230.En general, estuvimos muy decepcionados.Necesitas subir tu hama Maray.

Beautiful food and lovely, friendly service. Staff do explain that food will come out 'as and when' but there is never a delay. Portions are just right if you take the advice of the staff of how many to order. Been here many times and the Bold Street branch - never disappointed! Highly recommended.

Visited Maray for our Wedding Anniversary meal and unfortunately found the experience so disappointing. We were informed the food arrives as & when, however we didn't expect the plates to arrive with such a long wait in-between which resulted in my food being eaten by the time my husbands eventually arrived - so much for a romantic shared experience. The waiter asked "how was your starter" to which my husband replied "I can't remember it was that long ago" a subtle hint that didn't speed things up at all. The plates were very small, not value for money at all, and one of the mains was so poor we refused to pay for it (Buttermilk Fried Chicken). Poor hubby ended up only having 2 small Maray Bhajis and a huge chunk of Cauliflower served ages apart for our Anniversary night out - at least the post Christmas diet has stayed intact ! On a positive note the wine was lovely. Sadly we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend Maray to others.

Went to this Restaurant on 11th Jan, my friend has visited here quite a bit and said the food was lovely, we normally go for a chinese cos I am a very fussy about my food. The Maray's food is middle eastern something I had not tried before. The Staff were lovely & friendly and couldn't do enough. I had Mushroom's on rye which I really enjoyed, Whipped goats cheese with pitta bread & appricots, didnt enjoy the goats cheese then I had steak in a burnt onion sauce which I really enjoyed. It was my first time with Middle eastern food, but all in all what I had I enjoyed most of it. The atmosphere was lovely & relaxing. If your into this type of food then its worth visiting. Caters more for Vegetarians than meat eaters.

Visited this restaurant during festive period. I would not recommend for party size over 3. Although food tasty very small plates is the correct description as portions not very big at all. Also plates arrive as and when ready consequently some in party got their food and finished before some had received any of their order so it doesn't always provide a shared eating experience. Also service between orders very slow so waiting between small plates very long so you don't feel you have eaten a meal it is such a long process and very small portions. Tasty food but certainly not value for money. Also environment when busy very noisy so difficult to hear people when chatting. Bar area cramped and we were left waiting there a while as our table not ready although we has pre booked. Kept having to move out of way of waiters coming and going with food. Also when you are not a drinker it is a bit of a bore waiting at bar for your table. Very unsatisfactory family meal.

Attended at lunchtime on Christmas Eve. Ordered 5 dishes. 4 of them were delicious. The final dish was the one we were most looking forward too - steak. It was extremely chewy and quite frankly inedible for what was an expensive selection. The issue was raised with the waitress who said she would inform the chef and the response was that it could be a "bad cut" from the butcher and they would review it for future orders. At the very least I would have expected this to be taken off the bill as clearly the dish had been virtually untouched. The rest of the meal was very nice and this small issue took the shine off what was a nice experience.

Really great food, Middle Eastern / North African tapas, was at the upper end of the casual dining spectrum in terms of experience but also cost, I paid a similar amount at the Ivy in Manchester for what I paid here, but the venue was nowhere nice the standard of the Ivy. Still, I can’t fault the food and the service, perhaps just a little too expensive for casual dining.

Lovely internal atmosphere. Comfortable.Delicious food, and wildly obsessed with their whipped goats cheese starter! Lovely Kiwi waiter that served us and had great knowledge of the foods!Definitely returning!

We have eaten here several times now and every time the food has been spot on. The early doors menu in particular is good value - 5 tapas and carafe of wine for £32 which is plenty for 2 people. Food is nicely spiced and great range of veggie options. The cauliflower is amazing! House wine is yummy too!

Went here last month with work friends and safe to say definitely lived up to the fantastic reviews I had heard. The small plates are ace you get to taste a bit of everything. I don’t even like cauliflower but it was my fave dish. The staff and decor are equally lovely. Myself and my partner have booked for our anniversary next month. Great restaurant

You will see from my previous reviews that I have sampled most Sunday roasts in liverpool and I actually think I have found the perfect one at last. I didn’t make a reservation, which I suggest you do as I seen people being turned away, but they were able to accommodate me. They only serve a roast so the menu only has a few options. I picked the beef. I loved everything about the roast, highlights for me were the beef and the roast potatoes. They also have some great side dishes so I ordered the Brussels sprouts. As you will see from the pic the presentation was great. Service was excellent. Can’t praise this roast enough. 10/10.

Heard really good things about Maray, but was a little underwhelmed. The food was really nice but I think the general running might need some improvement. It’s tapas style plates, and you’re told that the food comes as it is ready, which is fine, but I had to wait a really long time for my dish, like everyone else had completely finished all their food and was just waiting by the time I got my plate. Also while the waiter was friendly, he took a very long time to come over to get our food order, and the restaurant was by no means busy (though I appreciate he probably had other things keeping him busy). Decor and food is good, general running needs some working on.

An excellent Sunday lunch: 2 courses for £17 including veggie/vegan option. Absolutely delicious and great service. Busy so make sure you book.

5 if us visited for a birthday celebration last night. The restaurant was busy but not packed, our table wasn't ready so we waited at the bar for 15 mins. The cocktails were good but expensive and the staff friendly. However it was the price, time you wait for each dish and portion size that lets this place down. It was recommended that 2-3 dishes each would be fine. I understand that the food comes out when it's ready but we waited well over an hour for some plates and had to ask several times. The food is tasty but not a generous portion. I was disappointed and hungry... not worth the £45 that I paid. I won't be going back.

Once again, Maray delivers. A small but rather 'jovial' group of us had a great evening with stunning food, excellent wine and a spot on cocktail. The staff here are simply amazing and our waitress was so patient and friendly despite us taking ages to stop chatting and start ordering. The espresso martini was exceptional and no late night palpitations from too much caffeine as we were informed that a decaf option was available...sold despite this being an alcoholic oxymoron of sorts! Thank you to the team who make every visit really special and for putting up with an over-tipsy group of teachers enjoying an end of summer blow out.

An excellent Saturday evening meal, table booked for 9pm. Staff helpful, no pressure to rush you through. Laid back vibe that felt like a great place for a drink as well as a meal.Food and wine excellent and as much sparkling water as you like for 50p per person!

This place is a revelation, small intimate but bold on flavours, a Middle Eastern Morocco fusion vibe the food is stunning. Small plates make up the meal from heritage carrots to the famous cauliflower with innumerable spices almonds tahini etc to give a well loved vegetable an exquisite lift. The tiger prawns a must, Chips and hummus, lamb, chicken and cured salmon with blackberry, the entire experience was top! For starters have the whipped goats cheese with honey enough said. Iced creams are full of cardamon, ginger, and the rest but nothing is overwhelming but rather offers an authentic, tasty and memorable supper. Prices pretty reasonable approx £7 per plate so sharing is the way to do it. Service superbly helpful, friendly and genuine. A really excellent restaurant. Just go!

Went on a Saturday night with friends and the service was good, dishes well cooked and tasty. Bottled water was refilled at no extra charge. Would certainly recommend and would go again when in the area.

Fabulous vegetarian Middle Eastern type food. The flavours were great and authentic. There is a vegan menu as well, most of the veggie stuff is vegan. Loved it!

Delicious food, wide variety meaning there is something for everyone. Been to both allerton road and Liverpool central locations several times and never disappointed

Visited last Sunday for Sunday lunch. I had the roast beer my dinner partner had the roast pork. We ordered bloody Mary's which were delicious and I was chuffed that the server asked how spicy we wanted them.The roast itself was really good, I wolfed it down. The beef was definitely better than the pork though which seemed to be at least half fat. I have only 2 slight issues: the first was an inadequate level of staffing- there was a large retirement party and the one waiter struggled to cope until a colleague arrived later in the afternoon. Secondly, for a place famous for it's cauliflower the cauliflower cheese wasn't great and I wouldn't get it again, the sauce had split and it wasn't particularly cheesy. Having said that, the drinks and the rest of the meal was spot on and we were pretty happy.

We had heard good reviews about Maray from various people and decided to try it for ourselves. It was really good and we really enjoyed it.

Got a voucher from our son for Christmas, finally got round to using it. I’ve been here a few times now, husband hasn’t been. Oh my goodness, we chose well tonight. Each dish was bloody gorgeous. First we had the nocellara olives, yum yum, then we had the cauliflower, the fattoush salad, chips, hummus and zug(?), lamb shawarma and onglet steak. If I could manage it, I’d go back for supper and order the same food. I can’t recommend it enough. One of the best meals out we’ve had for aaaaages.

I have been to Maray Allerton a few times now and have not been disappointed. This visit was no exception, excellent food in a great atmosphere with helpful staff. All of the food we had was spot on, we shared a dessert which was also delicious, chocolate tart, so rich could not have eaten a whole portion. I don’t think . Will definitely go back, so many options and good for veggies too.

I had been really looking forward to visiting Maray after hearing lots of good things about it. I love restaurants that serve small plates as I like to try a variety of different dishes, however I’m afraid I was disappointed. The food is totally average in my opinion and not at all as tasty as I was expecting. I also found it to be very overpriced. I don’t mind paying for good food but this wasn’t good and I was almost £50 lighter for 3 small plates and 2 drinks. I know I’m in the minority as so many people seem to love it here but it’s not for me.

We ate here today for lunch. It was really delicious! We ordered all the fish courses and enjoyed all of them, in particular the tiger prawns and cured salmon. We will definitely be coming back!

The food was amazing and plenty of it for the two of us. Lovely twist on a tapas style restaurant. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family! The service was good too! My one complaint was that when the bill came they gave us a card saying to donate some money to clatterbridge. As I looked at the bill they had already added a £1 for Clatterbridge. As I would always donate money to this cause I felt that they could have just asked if we would like to donate money to them instead of just adding to the bill. I do give to charity and appreciate the importance of clatterbridge however felt that we should have a right to say yes or no before it got added to the bill.

We went here as a family to celebrate a success and it was a lovely venue to do so. The food is basically tapas style and it was varied and delcious. The service was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. They do appear to also do take out food. It is not a large restaurant and is obviously very popular, so you would be wise to book. Parking, of course, is not easy - so give yourself time for that. We thought the prices were very reasonable. We had a great evening, despite the weather outside which was vile! If I was going again, I would request a table away from the door as it was draughty for those seating near. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for tapas style dining. My pudding was absolutely delicious!!!

Time for a return trip after 2 years. Although it was quite quiet on a dreary midweek afternoon. The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming. Pleased to see the menu had evolved but still remains great value for money. The monkfish cheeks were stunning.

This is the 2nd time I have been to Maray Allerton but will not be the last. Excellent food and great service. Me and my daughters all enjoyed our food, one veggie, one vegan and three eating from the standard menu, plenty of choice for all including desert. Fairly busy for a Wednesday so probably worth booking. Loved it, will be back.

Wow Wow Wow. Wonderful food. I’m a foodie and this is one of the best places I’ve been to. Amazing food, lovely service. Only way I would improve it is the music! Maybe less disco type stuff and something more chilled. Minor issue and the only thing I can find fault with in this wonderful place.

There were 5 of us for dinner. Two of the party had been before and recommended it. The food was varied, and excellent. The waiter advised us to order three small plates, which we did. Dishes quite adventurous and very well cooked. I'm sure it would be possible to choose plates that didn't go together v well, but I was lucky and everything I ordered (and tasted from friends' plates) was superb. Waiter v friendly and well informed without being over attentive.

Had the 'set' lunchtime menu- and spoiled for choice! Offers a great range of vegan, vegetarian, fish and meat dishes in a 'small eats' fashion - food and service excellent

Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff. The food was delicious, small plates. I was there with a friend we ordered 4 plates which was plenty for us the lamb was amazing. They also do a vegan menu. Reasonably priced. Will definitely go back. We visited on a Tuesday and it was very busy recommend making a reservation.

Quite simply, this is one of the best places I’ve ever eaten. I’m not normally a big veggie eater, but friends told us the vegetarian options were the best. Wow! Beautiful and creative food. Absolutely exceptional. Can’t praise it enough. And I’m fussy!

I had the most delicious beef roast here on Sunday - so much so that i'm sat here 3 days later still dreaming about it!The staff we're all really nice and friendly too, will definitely be telling all my friends about here, all in all a maray-zing experience!

Great food at very reasonable prices. Very Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were great in advising us on gin cocktail list which was a great way to start the meal. Manager came over at end and told us story of restaurant and to get feedback. Will definitely be back,

First dined at Maray, Bold Street last month; delightful, quirky, super food and welcoming service. We Three, ARF, were going elsewhere for our Christmas meal, however, circumstances led us to Maray. Same splendid atmosphere and welcoming service. Food delicious and cocktails excellent. No feeling of get in, get out, that you often find this time of the year.

Great for groups or couples. We were a group and mixed menus to suit our palates - some had Sunday roasts and some had small plates but there was something for everyone. Great afternoon with a few cocktails too.

Me and my visited Maray yesterday! The food was absolutely gorgeous and the service was superb! Would 100% recommend!

Still amazing! Great ambience and excellent service, coupled with delicious dishes, this is my favourite local restaurant. We enjoyed chicken thighs, cauliflower, hummus fries and lamb Koreas - all gorgeous but the squash salad stole the show. Cocktails were fab too - can recommend Sloe Tango in Paris!!

I’m so glad we didn’t pass by this superb restaurant on a busy main road. Set on the corner was Maray, a venue that offers a ‘tapas’ style of meals but from many different countries. It’s as if the owners did a world trip to find the best tasting dishes and bought them back to Liverpool. The meals are described elsewhere so I will not repeat, however, the quality and presentation were exemplary and the staff knowledgeable and efficient. Book online or phone, lunchtimes and evenings, well worth spending time in this super place.

After visiting the Allerton branch a few times and being a little underwhelmed in comparison to Bold Street - my last visit was faultless. we went for the early evening offer - great value with a carafe of wine and 5 plates. The staff were so attentive and really knew their stuff. One member of staff, her name was Molly (my mum asked her name!) she really took her time to explain the plates to us and knew all about the food origins etc. it was my mums first time, shes hard to please and loved it!

Came here recently with family as a large group. The decor is amazing, service friendly and attentive, but star of the show is the food. Although many of us eat meat we had some vegetarians/vegans so opted for the meat free dishes and we really didn’t miss it! All the dishes we had were cooked to perfection and the flavours out of this world, definitely recommend the falafels, breads and dips and the sweet potato with date balsamic was beautiful. The best thing I have tasted in a long time though has to be the cauliflower! So much so I ordered one at the end of the night to take home for others to try!!! Value for money if you like excellent food, cooked perfectly. Good selection of drinks too! Will definitely be back :)

My wife and I eat here recently and the food was really nice, I did have to remove a hair from my mouth which I think came from a bowl of chips.......however this is something I understand can happen but it is not pleasant!!My main issue was when the bill came and the waitress then told us that there was a £1 change added to the bill for a charity "action against hunger". This is unacceptable to place a charge on a bill that we had not even agreed to. We were told that this can come off if we did not want to pay it!I have never experienced this before at any restaurant and there is a reason for this..........you go out for a meal not to be told you are now contributing to a charity we know nothing about and were our money is going.We felt that refusing this contribution would simply be awkward and felt we were pressurised into paying this gift.For this reason we would not return.

I went for a lunch with a friend and the service from get go was great. The waiter was attentive and really knew a lot about the menu. The food arrived in good time. The place is great if you want tapas for a reasonable price.

Simply couldn't be more impressed with the food and staff at this restaurant. The waiter was helpful, friendly and great with food suggestions. The food itself was fantastic! We loved the salmon!

Service was very poor, one waiter very rude and unhelpful. food cold, waited ages for the food to arrive and out came the chips and then waited ages for the other dishes to arrive. Very expensive for the portions you recieve. Very dissapointed and wont be back

Stopped by for midweek lunch and really pleased we did, food was excellent both in presentation and most importantly taste. Service was great and quietly efficient. Will definitely be going back to try more of the afternoon menu it’s like great tapas with a twist and so tasty

I visited Maray for the first time on a busy Saturday night. The waiter was helpful and attentive and explained exactly how much food to order and how it would come out slightly staggered. He also made some amazing recommendations and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.I will definitely be coming back!

On Saturday we visited Maray on Allerton Road for the first time. The restaurant is large on two floors but the tables are quite close together. Firstly I want to comment on the service we received because unfortunately it was not up to scratch. When I place an order I don’t expect the first course to arrive before our drinks I also don’t expect it to get forgotten and have to explain to a second waitress what we had ordered. All through the evening our waitress had tunnel vision in other words did not see us unless we flagged her down. Other people who arrived after us seemed to get there food in a reasonable time ours was very spaced out. The food here is excellent we started with Persian Bread and Muhammara. We then picked several tapas type dishes which included the Duck special. We also chose the Roasted carrots,Pan fried Scallops, Lamb Kofta, Buttermilk Fried Chicken.All of the dishes were lovely but the Buttermilk chicken was outstanding. For desert I had the Lemon tart with a cafe latte and my partner had the Cherry ice cream.So to sum up the food was wonderful but it was let down by the sloppy service what a shame.

Our group of 7 chose to celebrate my friends birthday in here last night. From start to finish I can honestly say it was a poor experience of dining. Our “waiter” was slow to the point of frustration and was totally unapologetic. We waited for 20 minutes before we were offered drinks. And then it took a further 20 minutes for him to take our order! And then when our food started to arrive 2 of our group had all their dishes while the rest of us were still waiting. In one instance there were two portions of wedges ordered and only one came out and were told we’d have to wait for the other portion. In the end we couldn’t wait no longer and we asked for the food we hadn’t received to be taken off the bill and we wanted to leave. Won’t be going back there in a hurry I’m afraid. I personally waited for over an hour for 3 dishes, which I only received one.

My family and I ate here last night and we had an excellent time! Lovely staff, delicious wine and so many lovely things to eat. My mother is a coeliac and she was delighted to see so many dishes she could have! I was particularly impressed by the tenderstem broccoli, lamb kofti and the scallops. Lovely choice of dessert drinks, cocktails, and puddings. We all left full and happy, hopefully we will be back soon! Thank you :)

We always thoroughly enjoy eating at Maray. The vegan menu is great and all the small dishes are delicious. The cauliflower in particular is lovely.

I have been to the Maray in Bold Street on a few occasions and recommended to a friend that we try the Maray in Allerton Road. We had a lovely leisurely lunch, the food was just delicious and the service was superb ( the cauliflower dish has to be tried to be believed). Each dish is served as it is cooked so the food does not come together or in any order which I personally prefer. We had a cocktail each, beautifully presented. The manager should be proud of this quaint restaurant offering friendly service and tasty food. We will be back!

Amazing vegan food, lots of flavours. Went for the mid week lunch offer 3 dishes £12.50. Service was a little slow with some long gaps between dishes coming out. Drinks took quite a while too (just soft drinks). My nephew dropped a glass-oops-... and the staff were really nice about it. Cauliflower, carrots and falafel were all yummy. Cant wait to go back.

I’d read really good things about Maray. I expected it to be amazing. It was so very poor the best thing about the roast dinner was the vegetables which were really something. Apart from that it lacked any real flavour. The chicken was really dry the gravy was very watery and didn’t really do much. You were promised crispy potatoes they were very albino. The desserts were not cooked properly and the Lemon tart pastry was extremely chewy and had not been cooked long enough. I was So So disspointed after reading the many good things.

Delicious vegetarian dishes and desserts, however I felt it was expensive, especially £9 for 3 prawns. We had a table booked at 7.45pm, but as another review stated it was obvious the staff wanted us gone. In fact at 9.20pm we were asked if we wanted more drinks before the bar shut. At this point we ordered desserts and coffees.We had 1 bottle of house white, 3 hot drinks, 3 desserts and 5 small plates. The bill was £80.

The food is lovely here. However staff have lost the art of what does my customer want..all we wanted was to order SMALL plates as starters OMG the divine SMALL plate only cones out when and IF the SMALL plate wants to ..how about it if the small plate comes out as a starter NO the small.plate.comes out only when its ready and may not be ready to come out before your roast..well we would.like the SMALL plate to come out when we are ready ...that madam is IMPOSSIBLE... ok lets be controlled by the unionised highly registered and regulated what was one glorified started..just saying ...jeeeeez too hard ..

Really good atmosphere, really attentive staff. There was a wait initially because the restaurant was busy, but we were directed to the bar for a couple of delicious cocktails before being seated. The cauliflower was awesome (and filling) octopus is highly recommended, hanger steak was a little underseasoned but that's my only criticism. Great meal out as a pair of couples

Having eaten in Maray many times, my girlfriend and I had our first Sunday lunch there this weekend. The standard of the food and service was typical of a very high standard. We’re both recent vegetarians so had the butternut squash and pistachio nut roast which was absolutely delicious and I didn’t miss having chicken or beef in the slightest. All the trimmings were perfectly cooked, the cauliflower cheese was delightfully cheesy and on a different level to the bland béchamel often served up in other establishments on a Sunday. Our waiter was happy to recommend wine pairings and the manager, Anthony, made sure we were looked after throughout our visit. Allerton Road/Smithdown is spoilt for excellent bars and restaurants at the moment, but for me, Maray is the best of the lot.

The food was spectacularly bland with nothing having anything approaching taste. Excellent waiter / waitress service, however, this didn't make up for the tasteless food and extremely slow service with one gap of 30 mins before the next small plate came out. It's disappointing as having eaten here and the city centre restaurant, I was expecting a lot more, not sure I'd bother again.

Very popular with veggies/vegans but if you don’t fancy paying 7 quid for a ‘small plate’ of broad beans or broccoli, I’d avoid. Plenty of other options along allerton road where there is actual cooking involved in bringing your dish to the table.

We’ve been here a few times now and we are never ever disappointed. The food is always delicious and the service is very good. We had 6 plates between us and we don’t feel like we can eat for a week! Highly recommended.

Came for an early evening meal before a night out. Great food and value for money. Couldn't fault the service either. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Came here for lunch as a group of 6, small plates to share between everyone and couldn't write a review for Maray without mentioning the cauliflower with tahin and pomegranate, have to have it everytime I visit. Must say bit slow on the uptake of drinks on this occasion and had to try and attract waitresses attention. We shared cured salmon plate, lamb kofta, lamb shawarma, pumpkin arancini for the veggies and few veg and salad plates. Seem to remember it being decent bottle of prosecco in there too. One of our parties birthdays, had I have been the member of staff who came over and asked was it a special occasion I would have came back with glass of something or made bit of a fuss but that might just be me.

I have just been to Maray on Allerton Road for a pleasant meal with a friend. We have been to this restaurant on a couple of occasions. The food is always very tasty . We booked in for a meal at eight and, on arrival, were pleased to see most tables were occupied . The atmosphere was relaxed and we chose our meal and wine. Around 9 o'clock the restaurant began to empty out. By 9.30 we were one of three tables remaining. Ten minutes later we were the last table. We ordered another glass of wine and immediately felt we were hindering closing. The staff began to reset, which is understandable, but we soon felt we were in the way of closing up. On our previous visit this had also happpened but, because of the food, we wanted to give it another go. How disappointing ! We left around 10. 10. If this restaurant only wishes to have customers to 10. 10. 15, then it should advertise this. It would better than being made to feel so uncomfortable you feel the need to leave. It is a service to the public after all.

Booked for an early evening meal to celebrate our Pearl Wedding. First time I have been after reading so many good reports. They were not wrong! Everything was excellent. Pleasant and exemplary service from Alan and Lorna. Won’t be the last time!

The food was really good and thoroughly enjoyable. The place is quite small and too many seats crammed into a small space, so on a busy evening, you feel really packed in and not much space to move around. Food and service however were excellent.

Popped in by chance and from the start got the impression this is a well run , friendly place Nicely buzzy . Food is delicious ,touch of innovation and cooked to order. The koftas were nicely charred and clearly been prepared to orderThe buttermilk chicken equally fresh and delicious Service was professional and friendly I hear the Bold St venue is equally good .Great place in suburban Liverpool

We went to Maray for a birthday meal and received excellent customer service and delicious food. The staff were fun, kind and not pretentious at all. We had a birthday cake and had planned a surprise and they were so helpful with it all. Food was gorgeous. Particularly the arancini balls, cauliflower and fried hake!

This is a lovely, friendly restaurant. Nine of us went there to celebrate a colleagues retretirement. The group menu consists of a selection of small plates served bit by bit. Very like a tasting menu in an upmarket place. Plenty of variety and adequate amounts. There is a middle eastern theme to the food. See photo. The service was excellent even though they were very busy. Good choice of drinks and all in all excellent value. I would very happily go back again.

A second home for Maray on Bold Street. Allerton is funky and fun, with fine eateries, Maray being one of them.It’s a small plate eatery, but you don’t leave hungry. Lots of vegetarian dishes, and the cauliflower dish is spectacular- the way it’s prepared, the sauce, the seasonings, oh my! Hummus and flatbread also delish. Cured salmon was excellent, too . Not so crazy about the mushroom bourekas, even though they were good - just not to my taste. Very pleasant atmosphere, attentive service. It was a Monday, after the early bird menu, and the restaurant was full. Prices fairly reasonable for what you get, and the creativity is memorable. Will definitely come back to try other menu items.
