The Manor House Inn in Northumberland

Internally, not changed a lot in the decades I've been visiting. Outside, stunning views, not changed a lot............. Pleasant hard working staff. Limited choice of real ales, but others in good supply. Loads of parking. They do rooms, but camping site next to it. Beautiful location, if not been to this area before, recommend doing so.

Food was very tasty ,I had liver and bacon in a delicious onion gravy , service great everything was piping hot ,no complaints at all worth a visit for home cooked food at a reasonable price

Great Sunday lunch and lovely staff

Just popped in for a meal and a drink, meal was lovely and the service was excellent, we will definitely be back very soon.

We were staying locally and the Manor was suggested because of the gluten free menu. NEVER again would we go! The food was awful, so disappointing. Prawn cocktail starter;prawns were rubbery and plastic. Totally inedible priced at £8.50 too! Open steak sandwich... more mushrooms than steak. We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked either. The sauce with the liver was far too salty Homemade chips were soggy and luke warm. The only positive I can say is that our 2 kids enjoyed the pasta and chicken nuggets from the kids menu. We were away on holiday and felt totally robbed by the price of the food considering how bad it was!

Absolutely first class service at this pub, the owners were so hospitable and even made us some lovely food , despite not serving food that day. Would highly recommend and will be back for a return visit.

Stopped at the campsite and visited for an evening meal and a few drinks. Was very nice.

We Broke down,and this wonderful place was so welcoming, friendly and helpful! They rang taxis for us let us charge our phones, David and Natasha were wonderful, David entertained the boys with darts, and Natasha rang taxis for us! Besides that, it felt a lovley pub/guesthouse/pub, although we didn't eat here we overheard some people saying how lovley the food was! We will definitely go back ..... on purpose this time and with a different car! Thankyou again Kerry, Rob and Boys x

Stopped at a little campsite next door and called in for some dinner, had the lamb burger and have to say it’s the best I’ve had. Wife had the hot roast sandwich and both had dessert as mains so nice. Staff and locals very friendly would definitely recommend and will be back

Really comfy. Good food. Good service. Really clean and fresh. Use it's postcode DH89LX to know you're in the area cos it's lower than road level. Watch for Derwentwater signage and it's there as you turn off the A68. Northumberland CC doesn't permit roadside advertising. Tasha & David deserve some support.

Lovely evening in a lovely pub the Landlord and his wife were great , very welcoming and the food was amazing best pub food I have had in ages more like restaurant quality

Got stranded due to snow and, although they had no rooms, the staff took the time to phone around and find me somewhere to stay. Very very grateful!

Spent the evening here as we were staying at the nearby campsite. Good choice of real ales and rums at a decent price. I had the cajun chicken burger and my husband had the open steak sandwich. Both came with lovely garnishes and the purple slaw was fab. It was the first shift for one of the front-of-house staff, but I really couldn't fault her at all. Had she not mentioned it was her first night, we really wouldn't have known. Natasha and David were great hosts and we look forward to returning in 2024.

Absolutely terrible experience, never again. We were staying nearby and decided to call in here for a couple of drinks about 8 pm. When we went to the front door there was a man standing there smoking a cigarette who showed no sign of moving so we had to ask "can we come in?" He replied "yes, when you've stopped vaping". I would never vape indoors anyway. He begrudgingly moved out of the way to let us in and then said "I'm David, I'm the landlord". We introduced ourselves and he went on to say that the bar was a bit noisy as the kids were there. We said we didn't mind and went to order drinks at the bar which had a large and noisy TV sat on it. David then sat down in the corner with (we think) his wife/partner and a mother in law. They then proceeded to have a load, foul mouthed and abusive argument that everyone could hear, in front of the kids who sometimes joined in. When I went to the bar to order a drink the landlord made some comment about me that I didn't quite hear. His partner shouted at him that he couldn't speak like that about his customers. The loud shouting and arguments continued throughout the hour we were there and all 3 adults appeared extremely intoxicated. At one stage the oldest boy (about 11) came over and apologised to us. Terrible experience and we will never be back. There was a full moon that night so we joked that this is why the landlord and the other adults there were so bad! I can't believe this is the same place as described by others here.

Very good food. Great service. Good location - we stayed at the campsite just behind the pub.

Had originally planned just to eat here after cycling the nearby Waskerley Way trail, but after a mentally & physically exhausting walk back in horrendous wind & rain with the bike I was fit to drop. The Staff (in this case the lovely Jeanette & helpful email from Natasha) couldn't have been nicer and so understanding of my plight. They initially couldn't fit me in when I asked for a room, but I will be eternally grateful, for in the end they did manage to accommodate me so I could have a nice hot bath and warm comfy bed. The food was amazing and I know I shouldn't have had that pear and apple crumble, but I couldn't resist, so I headed off to bed truly stuffed. I am so glad I found this place due to being in the area to do the Trail, but hope one day to return. Great stop off on the A68

We visited while staying nearby at Slaley Hall. Decided to give this a try. My starter was black pudding, bacon, and poached egg salad. The starter was slightly below par as the egg was over cooked and not runny but the whole starter was smothered in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing which over powered the other ingredients which was a shame. The mains were much better and I enjoyed the steak open sandwich which was loaded with tender steak and mushrooms. The fries were great too. The staff were very friendly and competent.

Excellent food; very welcoming staff; a neat and friendly uncrowded dining area; great views, easy parking and dog friendly. A perfect place to stop for a meal in a relaxed atmosphere. We’ll definitely go again.

Attended Lesley and Kevin's lovely wedding on 20th January 2024 and was so impressed at the way the staff went out of their way to make sure the event went without a hitch from start to finish. Knowing the layout of the building, I was interested to know how things would be managed as it is split into 4 areas. As it happened, both the afternoon reception and evening party couldn't have been planned any better, catering for a sit down 3 course meal (which was top notch) in the restaurant, later replaced by a disco/karaoke and dancing plus quieter rooms to enable conversation and catching up with family and friends. All in all, it was a superb wedding venue with excellent staff, exceptional food and brilliant service. Would definitely recommend. Congratulations and thanks again to the bride and groom xx

What can I say about this place other than they all way go above and beyond and nothing is ever a problem. We booked Christmas lunch for 11 of the family 1 vegetarian 1 gluten free and 2 fussy eaters yet everything was spot on. The dining room was full and was only 2 chefs on. The bar staff were ran off their feet yet all with a smile on their faces. We have been so many times and love the atmosphere and hospitality we always keep coming back. We will see yous again soon

First time visiting and won't be the last. Superb Sunday lunch with melt in the mouth lamb and beef and loads of lovely gravy Puddings were nice too. Great value for money.

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at The Manor House Inn. The food was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast and It was first class each day. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff and management were lovely and welcoming, we had our wedding anniversary whilst we were there and they made it very special indeed. We will definitely recommend this Inn to family and friends.

Always brilliant - the food is always top quality and delicious. The owners and team are just great and really go to an effort to make you feel welcome. 5 stars all round

Friendly, helpful staff, good Sunday lunch.

Hadn't been here for a long time so didn't know quite what to expect. I also never complete reviews of places we visit. but felt in this case I just had to. The friendly, efficient service, ambience and incredible food didn't disappoint. The vegetarian dish was gorgeous. Will DEFINITELY revisit. Thanks to all at the Manor House for making our day so enjoyable.

Premier league pushing top 6 Euro spot kinda joint. Wonderful food - varied menu and fresh ingredients, v friendly service. Really pleased we stopped in for a quick half and lunch. Highly recommend!

Fantastic from beginning to end. Wonderful welcome, superb food, service excellent but most of all great hospitality from the management. Very friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for our party. Food was amazing, everything done to perfection and clearly home made. We will definitely be back.

Went there for a meal, food was excellent with spectacular views from windows. Staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a lovely place to dine. I would highly recommend a visit.

Called in here for a light lunch expecting a standard toastie and frozen fries. What a fabulous surprise to be served home-cooked chips and the toastie was filled with freshly cooked chicken and bacon! All this with a side salad in a lovely dressing. Absolutely delicious.....thank you.

Ideal location for a meal when staying at Bolbec Campsite next door. A warm welcome, fabulous food, friendly locals and dog friendly too. So good we are returning for our meal again this evening. The sausage and mash had THE best gravy ever!

Visited mannor house inn recently, upon entrance it was a guessing game, did not feel welcomed and a guy in there who apparently then turned out to be the owner was extremely rude and disrespectful. Do not reccomended.

Went to the restaurant with family for a Sunday meal. Inside it was a great atmosphere with lots going on and a friendly feel. The Sunday roast was good and definitely filled us up on a rainy Sunday.

Enjoy visiting the Manor House for lunch, hadn’t been for a while. New decor absolutely awful, plastic table cloths appeared to be stuck to the table white painted chairs and fake flowers in a coke bottle, reminded me of a transport cafe. Food as good as usual but won’t rush back

Really tasty food and friendly staff. It was just around the corner from the cottage we stayed in so really handy for an evening meal. Prices are very reasonable.

We have ate here a few times on a Sunday now. It’s the friendliest welcome we have ever had and the food is consistently lovely, great quality and reasonably priced. Highly recommend
