Mango Thai Tapas in Southampton

They have removed the coconut chicken from the menu :-( Very nice food and atmosphere. Great crispy beef and outstanding prawn toast! Please bring back the crispy coconut chicken!

We have waited 2h for a delivery, and then it was cancelled with no explanation! We could see that the driver has been waiting for our food, but nothing arrived for 2 hours, whereas the expected delivery time when ordering was 0.5h

A fav haunt of mine, but PLEASE PLEASE get that door fixed. Several of your patrons kept having to get up to fully close the door that was leaving a freezing draft in with tables v close to the door. Servers only did once or twice.

Fantastic food, great drinks and outstanding hospitality from Vicki ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, who served us. We celebrated a birthday and nothing was too much for her. She absolutely brightened our experience. Red Thai at Night cocktail is sweet and moreish. The bang bang cauliflower is lightly spicy and the curries are creamy. Yummm! Definitely returning.

We had a small private function in the room upstairs. It was perfect.

Returned recently after having not been to the restaurant for a couple of years. Lovely food as ever and the staff were nice, however service seemed to drop a bit after a larger booking upstairs turned up and the staff disappeared for a while to sort out this group, meaning that meant diners downstairs were left waiting for a while. We were waiting for nearly 45 minutes to pay for our meal and approx. 30 minutes of this was us trying to flag a member of staff for the bill (with our empty plates still on the table waiting to be collected). Normally wouldn't mind waiting around for a little bit as the place is nice, but we'd finished our food and drinks and were ready to leave. A little disappointing despite the great food and makes me think twice about coming back soon.

I love the decor here it’s a really quirky aesthetic! Lots of character. Yummy small plates, I found the pork dish a little too salty. They offered prawn crackers whilst we waited for food and drinks, I do think a small bowl of these should be free, it would be a nice touch. We were seated at the back so waited a little longer than I would’ve wanted for service but when it came it was with a smile 😊 Would go back, would love to try some more dishes on the menu!

One of the excellent Thai restaurant. We just walked in for lunch. Restaurant Manager Kamil has been extremely supportive in giving options and saving cost for us.

Really great red curry with chicken! Just like in Thailand. Amazing flavors with perfectly spiced heat level. I’m from out of the country and not used to the tip process for service. Someone told me it’s already added to the bill but when I looked at my receipt the service was not added. My apologies to the great staff. I will be back and to eat again and make sure I add for service double next time.

The food was very very good quality. Lamb falling apart in the massaman curry and the tapas was great. A bit pricey but would go again as a treat.

My favourite restaurant in Southampton. I've taken many friends and family there over recent years and never been disappointed. A friend from Sydney has said it's better than any Thai restaurants there and they have a lot! Lovely good, attentive staff and friendly atmosphere. Absolutely love the place ❤️

Really nice little Thai restaurant in Portswood, Southampton. It feels very cosy, particularly with the tables at the back and upstairs. Great atmosphere and great service. Would recommend the yellow egg noodles (pad see ew).

Took a table at Mango to celebrate a birthday. The service from Erin was top and also to mention Robin at the bar who looked after us. The food was amazing as always (been several times before) and our friends are very fussy vegetarians but they were blown away with the options available to them. Usually its just minus the meat option but they were able to choose 'mock chicken' which they were delighted with and the Veggie crackers to start blew their minds away as they generally have to sit and watch us enjoy our prawn crackers..... Desert was good and finally the bill was actually very fair considering the current climate and how expensive everything is. Will always return, please stay the same as not sure you could get any better!!! Thank you

Average food. Went on a Monday evening. Not many people one couple and a group of six. Service was friendly but somewhat distracted and slow chatting between each other rather than focusingon their few occupied tables. The food took a while to arrive and when the starters arrived the satay chicken was luke warm and the chicken a bit stale had that recooked taste to it. The same for my main Green chicken curry. Average dining experience a bit disappointed overall.

I visited recently on a Sunday for my thirtieth birthday. I had booked online for four people, namely two pickier eaters and two who couldn't care less about menus etc. I found that the vegan / vegetarian options were plentiful and the tapas concept still works well, despite the portions being large and a little costly, if you ordered several. We ordered a mix of curries and tapas which were piping hot and fresh. I could see that they appeared to be short staffed with only one guy on the front and hiring posters in the window. I can't fault the service even with that knowledge.

Ordered via UberEats. Rice was missed from the order. Called to rectify and was told... 1. We don't have out own delivery driver and can't send out the rest of your order. 2. If you have an issue, take it up with UberEats. We can't help you. I don't know if you've ever eaten a rice-less curry... but it's not great. Pathetic service. Any decent manager would take the customers details over the phone and jump in their car with the rest of the order. Food is good, which is a shame.

Our tapas starters were excellent, mains also good, but the starters were better. Great decor, and friendly, happy staff. Enjoyable late lunch. Good offer on the tapas.

Ordered a take away the portion size was ridiculously small for the price we paid, the food tasted good to be honest but I cant get over the portion size, and to top it off I had came down with an illness with sickness and stomache cramps , I won't be using or visiting this place again

A pre-concert meal and drink was very pleasant. The restaurant was empty when we arrived and music was playing loudly. A request to turn it down slightly was unheeded. The service was attentive apart from that and the food was delicious. A service charge of (I think 12%) was automatically added with the bill.

I just ordered a delivery and I am shocked. 2 curry's and 2 rice's, and they came in piddly little round cartons, not what I expected especially since the starters are big when you eat inside. We would usually have enough left for the next day. I can't believe I've just paid what I paid, for that. Not good value. The actual food was delicious.

Staff, service and food all wonderful. We visited for a special anniversary 15 years after our last lovely visit (!) and the place was just as superb as we remembered. They made us feel very special and really made our evening. Couldn't recommend any more highly

We held my mums 60th birthday here. We had the best night! We rented out the whole venue so everyone could mingle in the different rooms. The atmosphere, food, music and staff were great! I would highly recommend!

A lunchtime visit so restaurant was quiet. Used the lunch menu at £19.50. Food was delicious and plenty (didn’t need any more food that day). Nicely tangy the green curry left a tingle in the tongue. Tapas was plentiful - we had one each of the four lunch menu options and shared between the four of us. Likely to return when we are next down

Bland, sugary and tight portions. Delivery was 1 1/2 hours late and would rather it hadn't arrived. Had more flavoursome ready meals. No thai basil, heat or hint of fish sauce in red curry and full of bamboo. Utterly dull.

A very pleasant visit to Mango’s. We’ve been recommended by a few people to try this place and it lived up to the hype. The service was top notch, we arrived about 10 mins early on a busy Saturday eve and they managed to squeeze us in early which was good of them. The food was great, although on the pricey side, which is normal for Thai restaurants in this country. It’s quite a small place so definitely book in advance.

Mango Thai is the ideal place to have lunch, its a nice calm atmosphere, cool funky music, with great food, we had the lamb masala which was delicious and the beef noodles were yummy, we also had the Phuket Bucket, which was amazing, we also received great customer service from Tonie who was bubbly and friendly and she also deserves a pat on the back for running the place single handed, well done keep up the good work

We went to the Portswood restaurant. Lovely friendly service and delicious food. The cocktails are amazing and it is a really unbeatable cosy intimate little place with a great atmosphere. The waitress even left us a little note on the receipt to wish us a happy wedding anniversary!

As always good service and great food we especially like the tapas menu especially when using the offer of 4 for 3 makes it great value too

The place isn't so bad, though there are better places for a Thai meal. I found the noodles a bit too sweet for my taste. Nice and friendly staff though.

Our server, Cyril, was excellent from start to finish. Engaging with our group with a friendly smile and efficient service, we may disagree with his opinions on crumpets, but he was otherwise excellent. Food was good, drinks were good. Can't say much else really.

Ordered from Mango Portswood on Uber Eats tonight. Absolutely shocked at what has arrived. The green curry has spilled everywhere. Items from order are missing and the remainder is cold. Called the store and was told there is nothing they can do as ordered via uber eats. Uber eats dont seem to care either. £50 for a takeaway for two you expect better service. Have always had good service from Mango but will never be eating in or ordering takeaway from them again.

Ordered a delivery which was damaged and with missing items. We've used Mango so many times but this time they have let us down. Phoned Portswood and was told the missing items were down to uber loosing them on the scooter and not them not packing them. Staff member was rude and didn't care. Such a shame after a decade of enjoying their food never again

We opted for the Tahi Tapas menu, indulging in crispy beef, garlic and pepper pork, chicken satay, and Thai fish cakes, all of which were truly superb. Really friendly, happy staff. I'd rate the food at 7/10 for a Thai place. The curry sauce was lacking a little something and the coconut rice is just jasmine rice with a premium. Still, it's got a great vibe and the prices aren't too bad. It's always worth a visit if I'm in the area.
