Mango Thai Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Southampton

Very nice admonphere, prety good food. Came as a family and had a good time. Tapas are a pretty way to go. Great service from Ali and Anna.

Had a great time here to celebrate my sisters return from uni! I’d never been here before so didn’t know what to expect but the food was amazing and came out really quickly. Ali and Anna were really friendly! Thank you !!

It wasn't exactly Thai, but I guess that's it for Southampton. The atmosphere and service were good.

This place had such a calming atmosphere due to the decor and plants. The tapas was great, me and my friend shared 4 plates and this was more than plenty for the both of us. The cocktails were really nice too! Gus (our waiter) and Cyril (our waitress) were very friendly also. Very quick service.

The ambiance is cozy yet vibrant, perfect for intimate dinners or lively gatherings with friends. And the attentive staff provides impeccable service, adding to the overall charm of the place.

Booked the private dining area of Mango Above Bar for a team event and we were not disappointed. The food was exceptional, the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was great. We've been lucky enough to go on many team events over the years and this venue was one of the best for food!

I booked a table for four with a friend and our 2 teenagers. We don’t see each other very often so we’re all looking forward to it. We sat upstairs and it was full. The music was very loud and there was also a group of about 10 women in the corner at the other end of the room. We heard everything they said but sadly couldn’t hear ourselves speak to each other. It was just pointless being there. The staff were very apologetic and I have no complaints about them at all and half way through our meal they found us a table downstairs. The room upstairs needs some sort of sound absorption. I will not go there again unless I know I can get a table downstairs. As always the food was lovely. The staff were lovely. The cherry mojito didn’t taste like cherry. Not worth the £30 or whatever it was…😂

I used to go to the Mango restaurant in Portswood all the time when I was a student in Southampton and it was my all time favourite restaurant! I came back to visit for the weekend and Mango was high on my list of must-visit. The food was sensational as always. We shared lots of tapas dishes, in particular the crispy squid was to die for (amazing sauce!). The ambience was great, with really good music playing. We had such a good night and our waiter was so lovely too - I think his name was Chris, so thank you!!

Probably one of the most bland Thai food I've ever eaten. The portions were small and the taste was anything but great. While the ambience downstairs seemed nice, the music was too loud upstairs and did not match the Thai ambience at all. The staff were nice but that did not make up for the food and price of the food. Definitely would not recommend.

This has become my favorite restaurant in Southampton. So many gluten free options and everything is completely delicious. Cocktails were fire, service spot on. Highly recommended.

When we arrived - our (pre booked) table had been given away. Ordered fine - then the ‘kitchen had lost our order’ so sat for 45 mins before starters arrived. Had to wolf down mains as parking ran out. Husband found a very sharp bone in his chicken which he chocked on. Won’t be returning. Shame as Portswood one is always fab.

Service was a little slow, especially at the end when we trying to pay and leave. Our reserved table was taken when we arrived, and we had to wait to be seated. The food was quite expensive especially for the portion size.

Called and asked “do you have a table of 4 tonight” and they asked “is it an enquiry or a new table” and I said “new table” (obviously considering my question) and they were very very smug in telling me they were full tonight: I can’t stand servers who have no interest in trying to help you. “Book a table” showed they had tables at 8:45 but that wasn’t offered to us, so we’ll go elsewhere

Was a lovely setting and our host Cyril/jack was really attentive, funny and gave excellent service. The food was good and the cocktails were lovely. The only negative were the toilets, there was no hand wash at any point through the evening, and wet toilet paper all across the floor on the entrance to the ladies and all around the sink area. The actual toilets etc were clean.Was a very busy night so likely just overlooked and the only reason for 4 not 5 stars. Other than that would highly recommend.

This is a great little restaurant. We went as a group of 5 so had the Thai tapas. We ordered one of everything other than the tofu and greens and everything was delicious. About 3 dishes per person worked out perfectly for dinner. Usually when you get tapas there's inevitably a weak dish but not here! The service was also excellent. We had two waiters who were both wonderful and they earned every penny of their tip. We thought the restaurant was also very well priced too. We will come again!

Food was excellent but the cocktails were a tiny bit disappointing. I did like the Red Thai at Night a lot though! Mango corncakes are delicious, and the crispy beef was excellent too. The tables are all quite close together so it is a bit cramped, which normally I wouldn't mind, but sadly we had a group of people at the next table who for some reason kept giving my friend and I dirty looks from the moment we were seated, which was a bit of a shame.

Delicious Thai tapas meal with friends. Beautiful atmosphere, very cosy. We definitely ordered far too much for 3 people but we wanted to try everything! Requested a collection for 7pm on Saturday night. Was conscious this would be during their busy period knowing how popular the restaurant is I offered to collect any time around my desired time but no request was to big and they arranged the order for 7pm when I arrived the food was just coming up hot and fresh ready for me. Normally I dine in at mango but today feeling a bit under the weather we didn’t fancy venturing out but still craved the soul fixing food from here. Amazing food with a very pleasant ambience, however myself and my partner were both feeling extremely nauseous after. She unfortunately called in sick to work the next day. The only dish that we both ate was the pad pak. It is a shame as the food tasted delicious.
