Mango House in Merthyr Tydfil

Will have to start going here more often, the staff are friendly the food is great. The lamb chop starter is superb. Spoke to the manger after our meal about a dish they no longer do and was told to just ask next time and they'll pretty much make anything you want. Update. Really disappointed with our visit last night with quite a few of our family not liking their meal. I mentioned to the waiter that mine was horrible and he offered a new dish which was nice but now that everyone has talked about it I wasn't the only one. The rice was a little sticky other than fluffy the lamb dish was overcooked and chewy, the Achar had no balance to it and was just really sour with no other flavours (I've had this dish many times in many places) the Makhani was just tikka masala by another name and nothing like any Makhani that I have tried before.

This is probably the best Indian I ate in the UK! Good ambiance and friendly staffs. The pictures are different from what we saw online, but definitely better decor!

First visit on recommendation from a friend, the booking process was seamless. On arrival we were warmly greeted and our whole evening was a fantastic experience. The setting is really comfortable and was spotlessly clean. The food was superb and service was very attentive without being over the top which was really nice. We will definitely be back again

Restaurant sympa et le personnel sont accueillant. Les plats proposés sont variés. J'ai bien aimé le plat avec la sauce à la mangue. Les plats sont goûteux. On sent bien les épices. Les naans top. Je n'avais auparavant jamais mangé les naans à la viande ou même sucrée (au coco). Je recommande.

Amazing place to eat! Very reasonable prices as well! 😉 I had a wonderful service and although there’s a service charge, this outweighs the menu prices. They amended some of the dishes for taste as well! Totally worth it, will definitely revisit! 😀

What a rip off joint! All meals taste the same peppery! Expensive drinks, expensive sides and on top of that the cheeky buggers make a service charge! Better food in your local takeaway in Focrhiw!

Visited with friends and I thought the quality of food and level of service has dropped drastically . The popadoms tasted stale and the dips was just as bland . The main courses was just as tasteless as the lack luster popadoms . Also be aware they now automatically add 10% service charge to your bill which in my eyes the service and experience wasn’t worth the 10%. One to give a miss guys .

Just ordered for a pick up, very disappointed as this is normally our takeaway of choice. We live in Ebbw Vale so a bit of a trek. Several items missing from the order, the chicken tikka and Tandori trays were not even half full of food, nowhere near enough to feed two people. Time to try other restaurants, I don't mind travelling and I don't mind paying good rates, but I do expect to get what I ordered.

Honestly the best Indian food I have ever eaten. Not greasy at all, superb flavours, all fresh and you can tell they know what they are doing. Big portions for the price also - pay more for way less food in other restaurants. Staff were friendly and accommodating, we visited on a Saturday night, and it was busy but not loud or rowdy. Highly recommend!

We have visited the Mango House in Merthyr a number of times now & it has fast become our favourite local Indian. Everytime we have visited the food has been absolutely delicious, the staff are friendly & polite and they always provide a great service. After last night's meal that left my mouth watering & my taste buds on fire, I thought it would only be fair that I left a pleasant review on here. My partner had the prawn in achar sauce & I had the chicken in Jalapeño sauce - my partner thoroughly enjoyed her meal and mine was mouth-wateringly delicious! The sauce was bursting with a variation of different flavours and the chicken was delicious - so, so succulent! I usually avoid naan breads as I find them too heavy on the stomach, but at the Mango House I insist on having one...they taste great & are light & fluffy and don't leave you too bloated like most typical naan breads. Already looking forward to our next visit for another great night of curry tasting and a nice pint of Cobra on tap!!!

Nice setting , polite staff and efficient service. Good atmosphere on a Sunday evening. Called up to secure a table. Loved the building from outside too. The food was very tasty; naan dough very fresh with plenty of coriander. I was aware of the bad reviews on price but £50 for 2 seemed reasonable and also looked far better than other restaurant's in the area. The curry portion was on the smaller IMO. The service charge is added at 10%. Naans are £6 for a medium, pickle tray £7, this all made a significant impact to the overall bill but still an enjoyable meal.

Beautiful authentic Indian food with the nicest owners ever. Such a great selection and spoilt for choice. We had these starters as per picture, and the mango chicken and garlic chicken for mains. They can also reduce or increase the spice level according to your preference.

Phoned for a takeaway at 9.25 be told the kitchen is closed The guy said it's an error and the price on a garlic chili nann is way to dear

Highly recommended a visit, to this fabulous, friendly restaurant. The food was divine, best garlic mushrooms I've ever tasted! It was full of flavour and everything was fresh and delicious. Best Indian restaurant in Merthyr, best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. Prices are bang on and the food is even better, so much taste in the curries and the service is a straight up 10 out of 10.

I would have rated the food higher if I got a chance to taste it. If I could rate the service / atmosphere lower, I would. The host essentially kicked us out of the place saying we should have made a reservation 2 weeks in advance - whether or not you even had a plan to come to wales in the first place. Asked us to stand out in the rain, since we were 'standing in the way' - no regard for my elderly parents I had with me. The way the host spoke to us, was borderline racist. Thanks for kicking Indians out of an Indian restaurant. Didn't expect that.

The best Indian restaurant in Merthyr Tydfil! Food tastes excellent and the staff are always very helpful and friendly. It can get loud when it's busy, but this is a testament that this is a great place to eat as it's often busy!

Excellent food and service. Good portions and lots of chicken in the currys. I tried the Chicken Naga curry; very hot (not far off my spiciness 'limit') but it also had fantastic flavours. Everyone very happy with all of the food. Our only comment would be about the bhajis, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; prefer when they're crispy and light on the inside. A smooth pint of draught Cobra was a bonus too. A great experience all round, thank you!

My 5th visit in a few months and another great meal and night out. We took our teenage nephews and we all enjoyed the meal - Starters - Bhaji / Samosas / King Prawn - Main Meals - 3 Mango wrappers and a Madras. Food was awesome and service was brilliant.

The food here was amazing, My Wife & I, were in Wales for the weekend hill walking in the Brecon beacons. We were recommended Mango restaurant, by the locals in the Butchers Pub, They did not disappoint. I would totally advise anyone who likes Indian food , To go for it 👍
