Good starter but awful mains. Mandarin beef was kuje a really cheap cut and very fatty. Chicken curry was watery and chicken was dry. Pretty tasteless. We haven't been fir some years and won't go again

Very mixed. This place is strange. Some things are 5 out of 5 . Others 1 out of 5. The good. Satay starter is stunning. Some of the service is brilliant. Not overly expensive Bad It was cold inside. Chefs specials are mostly ..... with paprika The crispy chicken sauce was omg sweet The person serving out mains who clearly worked in the kitchen was lucky not to get punched for his behaviour

Lovely prawn crackers then we had the meal for two. Mixed starter of sesame prawn toast (excellent), spare ribs (nice sauce), chicken satay on skewers, mini vegetable rolls and crispy seaweed. Choice of a few mains. Teriyaki King Prawns with noodles superb. Very generous portions. Had to ask for doggy bags for mains. Enough for a second meal at home the following day. Reasonable selection of wines, sensibly priced. Staff friendly. Very good value.

This restaurant is unbelievably versatile and can offer any celebration you might require. From Lunch and dinner to Birthday or Wedding celebrations it is absolutely "Simply The Best". The attention to detail and the quality of the food is better than anywhere else I know! Amie and her team offer up the most amazing service and ambiance every single time. You will just love this place when you experience the care and attention that comes with it. Trust me!

This is my third meal here and it's been consistently excellent. The welcome, staff, ambiance are great. The food is superb. I particularly recommend the prawn toast, hot and sour soup and Thai curry. It appears to be the busiest restaurant in Helensburgh and for good reason.

Busy Friday night and they found us a table without a booking. Pancake rolls were lovely with a nice crispy coating and full of meat, bean sprouts and other ingredients. Sweet and sour dishes with rice very tasty and not sticky. Char Sui pork was nice but not how I remember it from my time in Hong Kong. The chow mein wasn’t greasy like it is sometimes from take aways. Haven’t eaten in a Chinese restaurant for some time so hard to say how the prices stack up. Sweet and sour was £12.50 with rice added at £4.20. Chow mein was £13.

This is the second time we have eaten here and both times the food has been outstanding. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Service was good, staff were friendly and food was very tasty. They were happy to advise on suitability of the vegetarian dishes for a vegan diet as well. Will happily go back.

Huge choice of food available on the menu to sit in or takeaway. Restaurant is not huge but is comfortable and inviting. Staff are very friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to accommodate requests.

This restaurant surpasses everything you will want! Amazing food-unbelievable service-and one of the best ambience in any restaurant in Helensburgh! The family work so hard to make this what it is and they have utterly succeeded! The quality of the food is wonderful and everything freshly cooked to order. We will never tire of visiting this restaurant and if I was dishing out the rosettes for me it would be * * * Yes ......3 star rosette restaurant. (p.s the Pouilly-Fumé white wine is excellent too). Get your ass along for a visit you will not regret it.

Either take away or sit in, this restaurant is the very best in Helensburgh the food is fabulous every single time! The portions fabulous. The staff are so very nice, welcoming, friendly and genuine. We visited the Mandarin again for my husband's birthday. It was our first meal out following lockdown. The food was amazing as was the service. This was our third visit and we look forward to many more. The hygiene levels particularly during this time are extremely impressive and better than anything we have experienced elsewhere recently.

The Mandarin management and team have worked tirelessly to provide takeaway's for the folk of Helensburgh and what a job they have done! Great food and great service and following all the guidelines to keep up totally safe. I hope everyone remembers this when they finally open there doors again. Not going to write a massive essay so here is what you need to know:The food is flavoursome.Good portions (Huge if you order a takeaway. Does me 2 dinners and I'm greedy!)Meat dishes are packed.The Staff are lovely.Value for money.The best Chinese restaurant and takeaway in town.

Obviously only takeaway available at the moment but what a meal it will be.Superb hygiene and processes are in place here and the management and staff comply with every single thing and more! I have had continual meals and they are faultless. Compliments to the Chefs'- the staff and the management for a brilliant effort to keep the people of Helensburgh and the surrounding areas fed and happy! If I had medals I would give you one each. Over and above the call of duty. xxx

I've been really struggling to find a decent Chinese in Helensburgh. I've tried a few and been disappointed, however everyone I've spoken to have said The Mandarin is absolutely quality. Unfortunately they were wrong!Very friendly staff on the phone and the food was delivered promptly but everything was just a greasy, salty and tasteless. Just a bang average Chinese takeaway which is a shame. It might be marginally better than Magic Wok and the Ruby but the hunt to find a good Chinese continues!

Desperate for some Chinese food after weeks of lockdown, we contacted the Mandarin on Facebook and had a wonderful order of Chinese food delivered to our door within the hour.It was, as always, delicious and the staff were extremely helpful when expediting the order.Thank you to all the staff for their efforts

Called in to this restaurant for a carry out, but I afraid all they seemed to be attending to were phone in home delivery orders, even though there were at least 7 customer's looked to be waiting on carry outs. Need to be more efficient.

Never been to this place before do I needed to check it out. Had won ton soup to start, which was very tasty, and beef and green peppers in black bean sauce with noodles. It was really good. Very reasonably priced too. And the staff were very friendly.. I'd planned on an Indian tomorrow night but I'll be returning here for more.

My partner and I popped in for an early dinner on Saturday evening. We arrived just as it opened for the evening, which was good as we hadn’t booked, and Mandarin is usually very busy.

We were in the area for a few days and as we didn't know anywhere locally we were guided by previous reviews and we were pleased we were! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming from the minute we set foot through the door. We found our waitress happy to answer our questions on menu selections and she was even able to suggest an alternative dish to my original selection as most people prefer that to the one I'd chosen.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Madarin recently for lunch: the food was beautifully fresh and delicious ...and the welcome was warm and friendly as always. This is our favourite Chinese restaurant bar none for sit- in and take-away. Highly recommend.

The food here is nice, but the sweet & sour wasn't very sweet and the other meals lacking in salt. I can only presume that it's a healthy option? However, I don't eat out that often so want something tasty if I do!

Auf der Suche nach asiatischem Essen sind wir zum Restaurant "Mandarin" gegangen. Die Bewertungen waren zwar gut, jedoch aus 2017 und früher.

Für eine kurze Mahlzeit genau richtig. Einfach gemacht, grundsätzlich lecker. Wie gewohnt beim Chinesen alles sehr schnell. Currysauce war etwas zu dick, ist aber auch nicht direkt chinesisch, sondern eher malaysisch.

I can't praise this restaurant highly enough. Small family run business with attention firmly focused on customer satisfaction. Deco and comfort is very tasteful. A wide range of choices are available on their extensive menu including chef's specials. We have never had a bad meal here, hence locally, it's #1 for us.

Had another perfect visit to this establishment last night. Took friends who were visiting from Australia and they were very impressed with the genuinely friendly staff, pleasant surroundings and perfectly served delicious food. Once again we were not let down as can sometimes happen when recommending places and can endorse this well run restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit which can't come soon enough.

We arrived for 6:30 11adults and 1toddler. They were extremely accommodating for a child under 3. Friendly and very helpful. When the food arrived it was hot and fresh. It was all lovely. We all had different mains but, my Crispy Aromatic Duck was absolutely spot on. Lightly crispy and perfectly cooked. My young child loved her main and was especially happy with her toy and ice cream. The ice cream came in the toy and she loved it even more. Such a great place for a couple or family. Thank you to the team.

This was a takeaway and it was awesome! Starters for 6 and Main course for 6 and everything was absolutely perfect! You can not say better than that when you sit in the restaurant but for takeaway that is seriously good!

Fancied a Chinese/Thai type meal and Mandarin always delivers.There has been a refurb which is nice but I like the food and was not disappointed.Ordered far too much for the four of us but helpful staff gave me doggy bags so the meal ending up lasting two days!!!Even though it was a Monday there were a few other diners which gave it a nice atmosphere.Compliments to the lady that served us and for the food which in all our cases was excellent.

What’s not to like about The Mandarin? , although not regular customers there is always a warm welcome from Amy and team, they look after you like friends and not just customers. Great food, well cooked, with quality ingredients, you really need to book if planning on a visit at the weekend. I has the sambal and my better half had the Kon Siu and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

We had a seriously good meal here the other night! Food was fabulous - service was fabulous- and of course the wine was also very darn good! The attention to detail is down to the totally committed owners Amie and Kenny and what a really great job they do. Everyone is treated like royalty and the food was certainly fit for Kings & Queens too!

Loved the Mandarin before but was really disappointed on this occasion. Chicken was in little cubes, very dry & the sauce was very runny. 😥

No complaints here at all. Set menu lunch is great value, served up quickly and prepared fresh in kitchen. No rip-off prices for soft drinks and staff are very very polite and have the time to talk to customers. Recommended.

Went in and ordered a takeaway, had to.wait 45mins but the staff were soo polite and they were so kind and asking about my baby boy when i came back for my takeaway. The food was soo delicious it was better than the Ruby on my last trip up. Definately recommend it.

Absolutely delicious food, we will definitely be visiting on our next visit. Kids menu was great as well. Staff very friendly especially the lady that served us. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that we asked for the bill and waited over 20 minutes for it before we managed to get it, and it wasn't busy. But other than that everything else was great highly recommend.
