Service appaling. We booked a table for 9 only to be told when we eventually were allowed to order that food ( two simple pasta dishes would take 45 to 50 minutes) were made to feel like criminals for deciding to leave. Food no idea as they could not be bothered to cook for us within a reasonable time. Atmopshere was like a loud drunken canteen which if you are loud and drunk i suppose might be acceptable. Price . Overpriced Overall impression unless you are a large group who are going to spend out on all three courses, drink loads and not expect them to serve within the hour they will not make you welcome, which is ok as we will not be returning.

We took our friends there yesterday for lunch. Our friends had never been there before and they love Italian food. We had a lovely time there the food was very good, 3 of us went with the lamb ragu as when the waitress was describing it we all decided it sound so lovely we wanted to try it, it didn't disappoint. The waitress was very attentive and informative. We all had a lovely time there we will definitely go back. We had a bottle of house red which was a very good choice too.

Came here with a few friends for dinner and absolutely loved it! The restaurant is small and cozy but has a nice atmosphere which makes it! The staff are very friendly and welcoming and they clearly care what people think and want the best for the customers, the owner encouraged us to taste the specials and they were definitely worth it! The food was brilliantly presented, the portions were perfect and they were extremely tasty and cooked brilliantly! Parking can be hard, best place to park would be the Esplanade!

We ordered our water and Tea, as we wasn't drinking alcohol, had our main meal - it was ok not very Hot, maybe if we had alcohol it would have tasted better. The noise levels were unbelievable i would have thought that something would have been done about that! You think you go out for a romantic meal and you can not hear yourself. Will not return.

Nice Italian restaurant, fairly small which is great as dining here is a more personable experience than larger chain restaurants.

I booked a table having read in reviews about Rochester restaurants that it's wise to do so. The three of us went on a Friday evening. The place did get pretty crowded so I was glad I'd booked. The restaurant is nice inside, didn't notice any smells as another recent reviewer said. I liked the mural on the wall. All the waiting staff were friendly. The manager even offered to take a couple of photos for us. The atmosphere was convivial. The manager asked everyone to join in when he brought out a birthday cake and the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday. Service was a little slow but we didn't mind as we were chatting and could see the restaurant was busy. And we did appreciate not being chivvied along to finish. We shared an appetiser of Garlic Bread - pizza dough - which was nice. Our first courses were delicious. My friends had Salmone ai Porcini. They especially liked that the salmon wasn't swamped in sauce. I had a special - homemade ravioli with mushroom and sausage. Our first courses were so good we were really looking forward to our desserts. One friend had Banoffi Pie which was served in a glass dish. My sister and I had cheesecake with a fruit coulis. Sadly, we were all a little disappointed with the desserts. They were okay but we were expecting something outstanding after the first course. While chatting to the waitress, we discovered that they normally have 2 sittings, 6:30 and 8:30. However, due to one of the chefs having just had an operation, they were only doing one sitting. So, that explained the relaxed attitude. I'd definitely be happy to go back there again. I think another time, I'd have a starter rather than a dessert. And definitely remember to book a table!

This has been our favourite Italian restaurant for a long time and we have enjoyed many occasions and celebrations here. However, on this occasion we were surprised on arrival to see that the restaurant was not as busy as usual. We ordered 4 starters including whitebait at £7.00. Rather than the tasty, generous and well cooked dish we are used to, we got 7 small, overcooked pieces of fish. The small bottles of Italian lager were overpriced at £4.50. The restaurant looked tired and smelled rather fusty and damp. We missed our usual Maitre’d who was not there. Is this the decline of what was once a lovely dining experience?

Excellent food, what I would call proper Italian. Everyone enjoyed what they had. They do a £10 kids menu which includes a drink, main and ice cream. Service was brilliant, highly recommend.

Food great and best Italian in Rochester, atmosphere lovely but this was all overshadowed by terrible service on both of my visits. The waitress with the brown hair was horrible and barely served us, we had to call her numerous times for service. I don’t recommend this place at all.

From the beginning they treated us bad and they were racist towards my fiancé. Also food was subpar, I ordered spaghetti bolognese and there was no meat inside.

This was a lesson in good service. If I was to open a restaurant i would send my staff here for a meal so they can see how to greet people, make young children feel comfortable and how to create a good atmosphere. I cant rate them highly enough, they set the scene for a great Sunday lunch well needed after a morning of viewing tourist attractions. Pizza was tasty and the garlic bread very very tasty. Great value.

been here several times and had my family down for my mums 70th this weekend, so reccomended mamma mias, there was 14 of us, we was pre Warned they was short on cooks, and said said we didn't mind waiting. food was absolutely amazing and service was brilliant, couldnt fault it, the mamma mia pizza is an absolute banger, big respect to the chef on his own still keeping food to high standards, thankyou very much, my family really enjoyed it!

Service was ok, we had pre ordered as a large group, of 8, took about 20 mins for our drinks to come, it was a bottle of wine and lemonade. The pizza was very salty. No real atmosphere, I was expecting authentic Italian, but overall wasn't too bad. They had ran out of a few things like tiramisu, its a Monday surley this would've been done for the week. A fee other desserts were missing so none of us had it

Such a lovely place. Faultless for the owners manner, service just right, fabulous food, staff & good value too. Noticed when I got home that they never charged us for the bottle of Nero we had, so of course we went back in the following week to pay for it. We look forward to always eating with these guys Thank you.

The bride and groom were warmly welcomed and throughout the evening. As they left there was a great response from fellow diners. The venue was booked under recommendation from a local florist. She was right to. The restaurant was a delight and the Sicilian host/manager had the Italian flare, charm and humour. The Calzone was equal to that in Naples. The fish and prawn dishes that of Amalfi and the Lasagna and Bolognese equally as good. Wine was nicely matched. I like my vongole and cannonau these were not on the menu but what I did have was not a disappointment. So what ever your event, romantic, birthday please give this intimate restaurant a try. Oh, give the lemoncello a try to finish your meal.

We booked this restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday with a group of friends. It is a gem! All our meals were delicious, like the best food we’ve eaten when visiting Italy…and at a reasonable price. It was lovely to have carafes of wine too. The staff were friendly and helpful on the night and when we contacted them to pre-book the occasion. We will look forward to our next visit. Thank you for making the evening so enjoyable.

I have been using this eatery for many years. This place serves good quality freshly prepared food. The service is friendly and the staff will spend as much time as needed with help on any questions about the dishes they serve. Prices are reasonable especially when considering the high quality of the food.

You are a lovely restaurant with lovely food, always fresh, I have been here a lot of times and you are always very nice, however, I felt uncomfortable last night with the way you were treating your staff, it was the more ‘mature’ female and male shall we say, huffing, puffing, eye rolling and teeth gritting at younger staff members, not everyone has years of experience, younger less experienced staff become flustered under pressure, you get out of people what you put in, be kinder to your staff please, this was really difficult to see, please take this as constructive

The perfect little Italian Trattoria in the heart of Rochester! We have been coming to Mamma Mia for over 10 years now, and each time is as good as the last. Service always impeccable, food delicious and fresh, restaurant is incredibly welcoming. All staff members are so lovely. We would 100% return and recommend.

Lovely evening meal with the family. Great food, excellent wine. The staff were a little rushed off their feet, and we did get charged a service charge twice on our bill (which was corrected). But it was a very busy night for them tbf.

We booked this meal as a work outing/dinner There was 12 of us in total and we were told to send an email to pre book all food orders due to being a family run business. We arrived and was ok, furniture was old wooden chairs, restaurant seemed pleasant enough. There was another large group already in the restaurant which did affect our service, we were sitting around waiting for drinks orders and wasn't offered any water while we waited. (thats a personal touch i guess) The starters finally arrived after around 40mins and was terrible, bland and tasteless. The calamari was cooked from frozen not fresh considering we had to prep order, the garlic bread was stodgy and tasted of raw onion. The mains didn't get any better, basically not authentic Italian food at all Don't waste your money or time

A great dinner here. Have been here several times before and always had an exemplary experience. Our waitress tonight, Louise, was as delightful as ever. Our food was delicious and competitively priced. Do give Mamma Mia a go. Rochester High Street is highly competitive for eateries but this restaurant deserves support as a small, well-run restaurant!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mamma Mia's restaurant in Rochester, and I was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is located in a charming old building in the heart of the city, and the interior is decorated in a traditional Italian style. The walls are adorned with frescoes of Italian scenes, and the tables are set with white linens and fresh flowers. We were greeted by the manager, Tony, who was very friendly and welcoming. He made us feel like we were part of the family right away. He also gave us some great recommendations for dishes to try. I started my meal with the whitebait, which was lightly battered and fried to perfection. The whitebait was served with a lemon wedge and a drizzle of olive oil. It was a light and refreshing way to start my meal. For my main course, I ordered the salmon, which was grilled to perfection and served with a side of roasted vegetables. The salmon was moist and flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked just right. I also tried the chocolate tort for dessert, which was amazing. It was rich and decadent, and the perfect way to end my meal. The service at Mamma Mia's was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure that we had everything we needed and that our meal was enjoyable. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at Mamma Mia's. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Italian meal in Rochester.

We have been going to this Italian for over 20 years and booked in with my family for my daughters birthday at her request, this was the second time here with family in a few weeks. The service was awful and we waited over 1 and a half hour for our main, the management need to train there staff! I was charged £8 for a 330ml of Italian beer which was very overpriced!! Top Tip “do not buy anything without knowing the price…” Eventually when the main arrived it was ok and nothing special. We then was charged 10% service charge which we asked to be removed, definitely not silver service. Overall very disappointing.

We ordered the king prawn starter @ £11.50, which appeared totally overcooked and was impossible to separate from the shell. The carrots on both main courses were drastically under cooked. The lamb dish, was lacking in flavour and pretty sparse in volume. So overall, in our opinion, average value for money and average service, could do better.
