Very nice restaurant and atmosphere, when I went there the music also wasn't too loud but just perfect, pizza is amazing for anyone who want to try the proper italian pizza, staff friendly and professional.

Packed restaurant on a Saturday evening. Parking therefore difficult. No disabled access. But overall a lovely experience in this hidden gem.

We attended for my daughter’s 18th birthday meal with high expectations. Quickly realised when the starters were served that the food isn’t up to standard. Very much similar to an m&s meal deal, no veg served separately and basic.

The sauce for the risotto is very delicious, the rice grains are very soft and fragrant. The vegetarian soup has a comfortable taste and uses fresh ingredients.

Absolutely amazing food and service

This is an absolute gem in the area! Had food from here for the first time today and it’s absolutely outstanding! They offer sit in and a take away service so we ordered food for collection, we collected at the time we input on the website and I had such a warm welcome, all staff were super friendly and one lady had a good chat to me about food & Italy she was so so nice! The food was boiling hot and clearly cooked fresh, it was all absolutely beautiful, the portion sizes are more than generous, I only just got half way through my portion and stuffed! The prices are more than reasonable for what you get! Thank you so much! Noticed while ordering they cater for a wide range of dietary requirements including gluten free pasta! Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Ignore any bad reviews on here... This place is amazing. We visited tonight for valentines and amazing would be an understatement. The restaurant was packed and the waitresses and waiters had a lot of work to do and they were still so attentive and happy. The food was fantastic. Very homely and comforting. The pannacotta was one of the best I had. The hostess was absolutely lovely and a pleasure to talk to and it was overall a very enjoyable experience. We will be back very, very soon! Thank you once again for making our night special ❤️

Had a valentines day meal yesterday and although it was really busy the food was amazing, all fresh and really good quality, service was amazing, staff were really friendly and joyful, definitely would go back again, really lovely cocktails and as I said every dish we had was amazing and we ended up having 3 courses because it was so good! Could recommended the dishes we had as wasn’t on list but if anyone orders any of the below you won’t be disappointed - calamari - garlic red wine mushrooms - seafood linguine - spaghetti carbonara - cheesecake

Been to Mamma Lina's a lot of times now and wanted give my review. The staff are lovely and hats off to their speedy service, me and my partner were never left waiting long for drinks or our food. We had Trio Di Bruschetta for starters and it was stunning and could honestly eat that all day! I had the Lasagna and my girlfriend had the Spaghetti Pollo E Funghi for our mains and we were both impressed. Fresh and tasty also very filling which is what you want, definitely up there with the best Lasagna I've had along with my Nana's which is the best compliment I can give and my girlfriend demolished her plate which is rare. Had the tiramisu for dessert and wanted to lick the plate clean, really affordable and you definitely get what you pay for. Our favourite restaurant and we will continue visiting for as long as it's open.

What a wonderful evening we had for my mother’s 80th birthday. There were 17 of us and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. They even brought our birthday cake out for us to cut and eat there. We were there for 3 hours and were not rushed. Thank you so much for making a special event so perfect!!

Never had a bad meal from here and I've been here a few times and had the occasional takeaway.

Booked for 8pm, we had our starters at 9.20!! The waitress, despite wearing a christmas jumper saying "Ho Ho Ho" definitely wasn't feeling it. We also ordered olives and bread while we waited. The olives didn't arrive until we chased them after about half an hour, at which point she said the bread will be 5 minutes. We never received the bread!! When we were eventually served our food it was quite good, though the vegetables felt like they had been hanging around a bit. I accept its Christmas and they're busy, but don't book as many people in if you can't provide the service. And please, ask your staff to at least smile at the customers.

Starter of garlic mushrooms was OK not great. Hardly any onions or bacon. Main course of sliced beef and pasta in a spicy sauce was very nice.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, busy but still relaxed. No rush to get you in the door and back out again . Food was perfect. Staff were wonderful. Can't wait to go back .

Positives,the food was amazing, we visited on a Saturday evening. Negatives , parking is an issue, service wasnt great, atmosphere very loud and noisey, ladies toilets need a lot of repairs, no lock on the door, tiles smashed off the walls and parts of pipe/plumbing items left on the side and not clean. Maybe visit on a lunch time where it maybe less chaotic.

Went to the Cardiff restaurant today for Prosecco and pizza brunch , it was amazing. Service was 1st class and we were made to feel so welcome and relaxed , we will be back regularly

Visited with family to celebrate my birthday. Covid safe when greeted with checking temperature etc & lady on front desk very welcoming however unfortunately that’s where it stopped. We were sat in what can only be called the canteen off to the left - sat right in the hot sun beating through the window, my dad was struggling with the heat - when asked if anything could be done the gentleman serving just sort of raised his hands in the air... the room is so echoey and loud, with much more of a party vibe, we couldn’t hear ourselves think. I’m 7 months pregnant and would have preferred a much quieter meal with my parents to catch up rather than feeling as if each table is competing over each other to be the loudest.When being served, we felt rushed to have to give an order. We wanted some bread, oil & extras for the table and maybe the gentleman serving couldn’t understand us or hear us(!!!) but we had just one ciabatta roll with an oil dip, put on the table and off he went before I could say we will need more. Mains were lovely however we waited a little while considering they rushed for the order, we thought the food was a little slow. Offered drinks and dessert was great. We were left too long at the end of the meal waiting on the bill. In a warm room, with very loud tables we were happy to dash to pay at the bar and get out to give our ears a break. I feel a little “hmmm” about the experience. I would go again but would make sure I would request to sit in the other part of the restaurant - it just seemed nicer and more our type of gathering. Blinds need to be put in the windows because the sun is unbearable - especially when there is nothing that can be done other than a shrug of the shoulders. Perhaps it would be worth capitalising on the fact you have a table of 5 hungry people and offer bread/olives/oil etc for the table enough for the amount of people if not going for mains. Maybe just make us feel a little more wanted as customers rather than we’re on a conveyor belt? All felt a bit of a whirlwind and experience really over shadowed the food which I’m sure if I could have relaxed and enjoyed it would have been great.

What a wonderful meal we have just had this afternoon at this gem of a place . 6. Of us adults ate here and it was a truly delicious meal . A large variety of food and drinks available . Pizzas were a favourite on our table but the mixed seafood spaghetti and my sea bass and king prawn meal was so flavoursome . Amazing didn’t feel rushed at all great service would highly recommend going there again . Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience . We will see you again for sure

Italian is my favourite cuisine and to have a delivery option was amazing. Didn’t know about this place before but will definitely be dining inside as soon as I can.Food was amazing, have had lasagne, bolognese, and pizza and all really tasty and much better than some “Chains” I’ve been to.Highly recommend this place and looking forward to visiting properly.

Not good, main was £19 for 2 small very dry sea bass fillets, menu said with prawns but came with just 1 prawn, vegetables were not cooked and smothered in dry Oregano. Starter and main course had the exact same sauce and delivered late.

I bought a lasagne... The sauce was creamy, The sheets were cooked well. The cheese was AMAZING! The meat was cooked so tender. We also ordered a pizza which came slipped to one side, the Calamari and the pizza were both a tad soggy, but my house is a 15 minute drive away from the restaurant so it was to be expected.)The food was full of flavour & amazing. Their profiteroles we so delicious, that chocolate sauce was out of this world.I cannot wait to go into the restaurant for a meal when everything is open again. The food was overall amazing!Thanks so much!

We have been having takeaways from here since lockdown! Thank goodness they decided to do takeaway/delivery because we love the restaurant but obviously haven't been able to go there due to Covid. Their pizzas and pasta are just the best! We had four pizza in our latest order and each one was delicious! We decided to try their chips this weekend - we don't often order chips because they tend not to travel well, but these were the best chips we have ever had! Can't wait for the next one :-)

Great food and socially distanced dining. We felt very safe as the staff wore masks and checked temperatures on the way in. The tables were also spread out. We have eaten here before and the food has always been prepared to a high standard.

Like a couple of recent reviewers we had heard great things about Mamma Lina’s and were very much looking forward to giving it a try.Covid measures on arrival were very good and we were more than comfortable being led to our table of four. Starters arrived very quickly including a few of the usual suspects. Nothing wrong but nothing special either.Once again, mains arrived very quickly and although nothing amiss neither was there anything bursting with flavour, a little disappointing.Service was excellent and all staff very friendly but we all felt the foods was no better than the average Italian restaurant. Shame as during these crazy times we have not been out much but it was nice to be out and feel a bit of normality.

We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for a while after hearing good reviews from friends and colleagues. The food wasn’t bad, but not good enough to return. We had starters and mains, and the starters seemed a little overpriced for what we got (sausage starter and tomato/mozzarella starter). There wasn’t much chicken in my pasta dish, and my partners veal main dish wasn’t very generous... the plate was mostly filled with sauce. I can’t say there was anything wrong with the taste of the food, but with the quantity and quality of the ingredients we were left a little underwhelmed. Staff were great. Quick service (maybe a bit too quick for some), and felt totally safe with their COVID measures. I don’t feel that it was worth the money unfortunately.

Wonderful food - pollo mamma lina, lasagne, chips and sauté potatoes... fantastic! And 20% off the bill as an Autumn offer. We’ll be ordering again!

Oh my goodness.. we went on the advice of friends and we were not disappointed... I had garlic King prawns to start... stunning.. then a massive calzone and was greedy enough to try the tirimasu ... absolutely flipping yummy and brilliant service..my son went through the parmesan on his bolognaise and it was topped up without even asking... how have we not tried this place before????? Thank goodness they will be delivering during lockdown ... would so recommend this place.. grazie x

We really wanted to love this place and as much as it wasn't awful, it certainly didn't meet our expectations!From a Covid point of view, everything was as you'd expect from the moment you walk in. Pleasant, comfortable surroundings, with a relaxed atmosphere. Service was fast, maybe a little too fast between courses. Our starters were bland and underwhelming, my Husband's Calzone, however, was lovely, fresh and definitely worth returning for but sadly my main was poor. The vegetables - carrots, green beans and potatoes had no flavour at all, in fact the carrots and green beans tasted completely of water with the odd hint of oregano. I dont think I've ever eaten a carrot or greenbean that's never had any flavour, ever! The white wine sauce, again, was bland and lacking any real flavour.Staff were great, good selection of drinks but the food, other than the Pizza, was poor and definitely didn't warrant the price tag. Sad to say, if we do return again, it will be purely for the pizza.

Decided on an Italian for our Saturday evening takeaway. A few of us had the lasagna the rest had pizzaCan’t say we were over impressed the lasagna was very plain,not a lot of taste, pretty much average. The pizza’s went down better would of been helpful if they were sliced but that wasn’t a drama. Quite expensive for the amount and quality.

We visited rogerstone and booked on a Monday evening, enjoyed the first time so much we booked for another night in the same week. There were 5 adults and our toddler both visits. The service was fantastic, friendly and professional throughout. Attentive but not overbearing.Wine selection was good - nice to try something a bit different and see some proper Italian options on there. The pizzas were incredible, some of the best we have tasted, super light dough and tasty toppings.A couple of the meals were good, but not fantastic. Nothing wrong per se, but lacking a little flavour. Hence 4 not 5 stars.Beautiful dessert cocktails. Impressive Covid precautions, we felt safe and the restaurant was spotless. Will return again in the future!

Just back from a fantastic evening at Mamma Lina's for my daughter's birthday. Honestly a faultless experience. From the warm and friendly welcome upon arrival to the delicious food, our evening could not have gone better. They were busy but socially distanced tables and temp checks on arrival meant we felt safe and the staff were so friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. I had the stunning meatball starter and a ribeye steak which was all cooked to perfection. To top it all off they were offering eat out to help out throught Sept (On Mon/Tues/Weds so we had a big saving on our bill. We will be back soon for sure!! Loved it xx

I have visited here twice since “lockdown” has ended and was impressed both times with how careful the staff are with their temperature checks and social distancing. There is an option to view the menu on your phone using a QR code but for those who don’t want to, they have laminated menus. I’d say the food is well priced but the drinks are rather overpriced in my opinion. The staff are friendly and do the whole social distancing interaction well. There is an option to have an early bird menu before 6:30 but we didn’t know this until we got there as the website is not up to date and there is also loads more choice on the actual menu. Meatballs are a must try! And the hazelnut ice cream is amazing. Authentic food and friendly staff, it’s definitely worth visiting!

Impressed on arrival by the cleanliness, temperature check and sanitizer. Wait staff wore masks but tables should have been a little further apart. Food quality was very good but service was lacking a little.Would definitely return.Good night good company.

What an absolutely fab evening we have had at Mamma Lina's Italian Restaurant, celebrating our 47th Engagement Anniversary. The embience, staff and social distancing was superb. We felt extremely safe and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.The food was outstanding and just can't wait to go again. Thank you.

Stared with cocktails in the lovely bar upstairs, continued with amazing solo artist whilst we eat our lovely food washed down of course with some more cocktails and drinks and then the lush dessert, all I can say is we will defiantly return when things return to normal #covid-19 , thank you and stay safe guysIan

Main meal was ok but would of liked chicken more moist and more veg, served a little on the cold side as was the plate it was served on. Dessert absolute delicious but served dry with no cream or ice cream. Tables a little bit too close together which impacts a little on the quality of conversation Lovely friendly staff and good service.

Visited several times over the past few months and cannot fault it. We have simply popped in for pizza and also had a few evenings out there and each time the service, food etc. is first class.

Before coming here I read some of the reviews, good and bad. The service was excellent, staff were polite and accomodating and the food was fantastic. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

First timers at this restaurant and every single one of the nine attendees wish to come back for another meal! I had the penne polpette for mains and the raspberry & white chocolate cheesecake for dessert both were stunning. Can't thank the waiters enough for keeping our party satisfied all evening, can't wait to return!

We visited Saturday December 28th. Great food, Great service....and we'll definitely be back. Tiramisu is so light and tasty....probably the best I've had!!

Visited on Christmas Eve and had a fabulous meal. It was busy but the staff were still very attentive and food amazing. Great singer too and he got everyone well and truly in the Christmas spirit. Even had all the staff dancing. Thank you Gianluca, Laura and all the team. You do an amazing job

Visited here once again on the 21st December and being so close to Christmas it was incredibly busy. This however did not affect the standard of the food or the service. Our meals were amazing. The meatball starter is to die for, the steak, cooked to my perfection with blue cheese sauce, was amazing and the chocolate and orange torte was simply delicious. The service was incredible, it looked like family members had come together to help out to deliver a fantastic service and an incredible atmosphere. Once again, another very enjoyable evening at Mama Linas. I shall be back very soon!!

Had a table of 10 booked for my birthday. 8 of us had steak which was very nice but the potatoes and veg were very hard and undercooked. The waitress brought out some more but unfortunately they were just the same. She even said she had tried some and found that some were cooked and some were hard! Waitress service for drinks also poor , over 20 mins. Yes you gave us 10% off the bill and free drink ,but would much rather have had a good dining experience. Was apprehensive as I had already paid £100 deposit for my works xmas meal 2 weeks later. We had this on Sat 14th dec. I had already had a conversation with the restaurant to say I didn't want a repeat of my experience and was told that they would change the frozen veg and potatoes to fresh and that we would be looked after. Nothing had really changed. Our starters were in front of us before we could take our coats off! And 2 of our group hadn't even arrived. We weren't even asked if we wanted to order a drink. I appreciate it is busy and its xmas but the staff were running around like headless chickens. The singer was too loud. Our xmas meal consisted of yet more frozen potatoes. The stuffing ball was literally still frozen solid, but your chef told the waitress that it was not frozen it had been over cooked and gone hard. Believe me it was frozen! We waited 1 hour 10 mins between the starters and our main meal. Not really acceptable. At £30 per head the service and quality of food was very poor. I gave you the benefit of the doubt to get things right second time around but I feel we were let down. You seem to be cramming as many customers in as you can ,and this is affecting your food quality and customer service. I will never return to your restaurant and neither will my family or friends. When you get good service you tell at least 10 people. When you get bad service those 10 people tell another 10. So you need to rethink as a restaurant.

Following my recent 'very disappointing' review we have since revisited and were given a fantastic meal with excellent service. They are definitely back on our 'favourites' list! Obviously our 'bad experience' was a one-off and not the norm at Mamma Lina's.

I organised a meal here today for a group of 13 people. It was amazing! Service was spot on, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was outstanding! So often with a set 2/3 course meal the food isn't great, or the portions are small - Mamma Lina's was the complete opposite. Thank you so much for looking after us today - we had a great time and I'm sure we will be back - both as individuals and as a group!

Well we have just thoroughly enjoyed our first impromptu takeaway from Mamma Lina's we rang them and by the time we got there it was ready and waiting. Its a cold night so needed a little reheating but what a treat. Thank you to Massimo and 'family' once again. Myself plus 21 others are looking forward to our club's Christmas Extravaganza there next Saturday.

Have been going here for years, even before they moved down from the old site at Mount Pleasant.

6 of us visited here last night 22/11/2019 for a friends birthday. Gotta say we were all very impressed with our food. Would not hesitate to return. I had the Italian sausage to start and would go back just for that.... Drinks were slightly expensive but where's not nowadays.

I've been wanting to try this place for a few weeks, heard mixed reviews but please don't let that put you off. Me and my boyfriend went this evening and it was such a nice meal out. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the pasta dish I ordered was gorgeous and my boyfriend ordered a pizza which looked gorgeous and wasn't a bad size. Decent prices for nice local italian food. We'll definitely be back for plenty more date nights

We booked 17 of us for a family surprise party for my Nonna’s 80th. The staff couldn’t do enough. They were very attentive and friendly. We are a family of Sicilians so we know italian food and this is it. We all enjoyed the food. The atmosphere, the service. We will come back again for sure and the pizza is to die for grazie Laura!

Six of us visited and we were all very disappointed. The seafood in the pasta dish was overcooked and consequently tough. The waiter was told and took it away but no-one bothered to come and apologise or discuss. One of our party had mussels which were cold. My Saltimbocca was salty - not inedible but not the quality of cooking I expected. One of our party had chicken in a pesto and sun dried tomato sauce. It was swimming in sauce and no tomatoes appeared to be in the dish at all. The vegetables didn't come in a separate dish - everything was served on the plate - a case of like it or lump it!! For dessert I asked about 5 times for a choice of strawberry and pistachio ice-cream. The waiter had great difficulty understanding me and eventually brought strawberry and vanilla! The restaurant was quiet so the excuse couldn't have been that they were rushed off their feet. We have all discussed the experience at Mamma Lina's and decided none of us would wish to visit again.

Got to say thank you to Mamma Linas for helping to make my birthday celebration one to remember! Delicious, high quality food, great service, and fab live singer (Anita), with songs that we could all join in with.... we all loved the atmosphere, and would highly recommend this special restaurant to others ❤️

Four of us ate here last night. The meals were all scrumptious. The place was full with families and friends. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Will definitely go back.

I was really looking forward to my first visit after hearing such good reports - we had booked for a table of 8 and were squash up on a table for 6 which consisted of 3 tables for 2 pushed together then 4 chairs on each side I had no room to lift my arms so whilst my meal was lovely I couldn’t enjoy it .

We went as a family of 4 (kids aged 11 and 13) on a Wednesday evening. The food was lovely and the service was quick.

Booked a table for two on a Saturday lunchtime for that evening with no problem. The restaurant was very busy but we were greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our table. A large bottle of tap water was brought to us automatically which was good. We had the trio of bruschetta to start and the mozzarella salad followed by salmon ravioli and meatball pasta for mains. The portions were really generous. The salmon pasta could have been hotter but it was delicious. There was quite a long wait to get a staff members attention for a second drink and to get the bill paid and we missed out on the free limoncello shot being offered at the end of our meal but we would definitely return as the food was delicious and the staff were lovely and friendly. There was a singer on the evening we visited which made for a nice atmosphere and it wasn’t so loud that we couldn’t hear each other. We felt that some items were on the pricey side but nice for a special occasion. We had no problem with parking outside on the road.

Went party of five daughters birthday,the restaurant was practically full on a Wednesday evening.We all had different starters and desserts and everything was lovely.I had meatballs and the lamb as a main and both superb.
