a great big shout out to Ciara and all the team at Malone House. i held a solo show at the Higgin Gallery. the team were helpful, courteous and friendly at all times. it was a great experience. Also the cafe Nosh team were fantastic. highly recommend to one and all. thanks stella gilmartin

A wee local gem in South Belfast. Guys , open longer. Loads of demand at weekends.

Even though our visit was on a holiday Monday, the scones were freshly baked and very tastfully served.

Beautiful grounds and the security staff were really friendly and helpful!

Popped in for a quick lunch before going for a walk around Barnets park. Had carrot and lentil soup with wheaten bread. All homemade and delicious. Bread was two large thick slices - very moist. Soup was so tasty of a good consistency not runny but not too thick. Just perfect.

Location was good..food yummy..

Took my son and his dad for lunch. It was lovely followed by a visit to the Higgins gallery upstairs. Highly recommend both.

Beautiful house with amazing plaster mouldings and decor. Views over lagan valley great from garden.

Love Malone House and the grounds, linked up to Barnett's Demesne. You can walk along the river Lagan to the City Centre if you wish.

Beautiful venue and such helpful and friendly staff. We had booked to have our wedding here but had to cancel due to Covid. Staff were so accommodating and understanding. Highly recommend to anyone booking their wedding or any type of event here in the future. Also pay a visit to the café for some delicious food!

What should be a beautiful tea room was unfortunately nothing less than a poor waiting room in a seldom used bus station....

Excellent friendly service and very relaxed atmosphere . Good value for money,comfortable and great venue for just a bit of time out and chat.

Years since my friend and I had been here but we have decided to return some day soon, in better weather, for lunch. It's as we remembered it and look forward to walking in the grounds as well. Pleasant surroundings. Will be lovely in spring.

I called in after a morning meeting for tea and a scone. I asked could I have scrambled egg on toast, as I had missed my breakfast that morning. They explained that they didn't open until 9.30am but if I was happy to wait for 20 minutes they could provide. The 2 staff members were very courteous and my breakfast was delicious.

I love this restaurant. Combine a walk around the park with delicious fish and chips or other dishes from the menu ( the fish and chips happens to be my favourite) and you can't go wrong. Lovely surroundings and friendly staff.

As a participant at an event in Malone House in Sept., I must vent my anger at the food which was expensive and poor quality. I have since spoken to many of the crowd who attended, and all share my disgust, while agreeing with me that we didn't want to say anything on the day, which would have caused upset to the organiser, whose fault, it certainly wasn't. The caterers surely noticed how much food was left on plates. Even the Eton Mess, contained hardly any of the main component - bits of meringue - it was nearly all cream. After the event, we all split into groups to go to restaurants to eat - all were starving! I have read the other complimentary reviews of the food, so I'm assuming that the caterers we were unfortunate to get, were not the usual ones. The weather was just beautiful that day, and the gardens and the ambience of the downstairs drawing room, were all perfect. A young man (employee) was very helpful to us, regarding setting up projector etc., while the lady on the reception desk, was exceptionally rude and brusque, not to me, but to others who told me. We are trying to banish any thoughts of the food part of our event and are basking in the great memories of an otherwise wonderful day, in a beautiful setting.

Location magnificent but food expensive and poor quality. Bar not cheap either.

It is a little off the beaten track but Malone House is well worth a visit and a taste of good cuisine. Whether to snack before walking the surrounding demesne or recovering from the walk over coffees and cakes as we did last week this is a very fine restaurant with attentive and pleasant staff. The atmosphere is very relaxing and a joy to visit again and again.

Very comfortable, clean apartment with private parking. Central to great shopping district on Lisburn Road. Also walking distance into centre of Belfast. Great location to concerts or festivals in Botanical Gardens.

I went to malone house for a wedding . The food was quite good but the selection of drinks at the small bar was not good, in fact I ended up not drinking at all because I didn't like what they had to offer. Relatives of mine left and brought in ther own drink, still had a good day

Such a quiet hidden gem of a venue. Beautiful walks in the arboritum and down to the canal tow path. Great views across the river and mountains. Free parking. Interesting historical house . Well worth a visit

Malone House is a delightfully situated restaurant set in a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere surrounded by trees and green space. You are served in good time by pleasant staff and the food is served warm and presented well.

Was looking for a place to have lunch in the area and saw a lot of positive reviews so decided to give it a shot. Definetely worth a visit, in the middle of the park with great views, very friendly staff and delicious food. The only real let down was their lack of fresh juices since it was something I would consider expected by the gorgeous look of the place.

Excellent meal and service the meals were lovely and the Italian waiter was very good at his job the setting was lovely after our meal we sat outside beautiful grounds would recommend this place for a lovely meal

Afternoon lunch at malone House was really nice, restaurant was fully booked so we had it in the bar area which was fine. Service was very good food was fantastic all 6in the party were really pleased with the quality of the food and service. will definitely be back. Absolutely worth a visit folks

Booked a table for 4 on the 13.01.2018. Had to wait a few minutes before we could get our table. Main course was delicious, even though we had to wait 45 minutes until it arrived. Meal was presented well, and was still hot. Staff were attentive, and courteous. Restaurant was packed, and somewhat noisy. Decor was presentable, and had expanded seating since my last visit here some years ago. This restaurant has increased in size over the years. Main complaint was the slow service and overcrowding. Will I return, possible

My extended family had our annual get together here. It’s a lovely setting in the Park and the staff are efficient & welcoming.

We had afternoon tea to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The variety of sandwiches, scones and cakes was extensive and delicious. The staff were very attentive with numerous refills of coffee and tea. Location wise this place has a beautiful setting with a warm, friendly atmosphere inside.

Recently held a retirement celebration, staff were very helpful during the organization and very open to us bringing our own decorations on the night everything went well. Staff were very helpful.

Went in for lunch lovely place plus lovely food and service .The staff are very friendly made us very welcome would love to go back and stay for a week end some time maybe February for my 20 th wedding anniversary .

Good parking and wheelchair access to Malone house. We were greeted at reception on our arrival and shown to our table for 6 by Shannon our waitress who looked after us very well. Set menu with good choice (beef, turkey, salmon, lamb) with option of 2 or 3 course meal at a reasonable price. Portions were very generous with loads of fresh vegetables. Lovely setting with views to the park outside. This was a birthday occasions and staff went to a lot of trouble to make it a very enjoyable occasion. Thanks to Kyle the Manager and Shannon. We will keep coming back.

Recently had a vegan meal at a wedding in Malone House. Not what we ordered and duty manager couldn't help. We got some tasteless mashed potato and so called 'ratatouille" in other words vegetables. No imagination at all and staff grim and cheerless. Avoid this place like the plague.

Excellent Sunday lunch with friends. Staff efficient but not obtrusive. They appeared at just the right moment to clear tables, and bring next course.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at Malone House. If there was a fault it would have been lovely to have had Chiba cups!!!

No matter when we visit, we can be assured of a warm welcome from Liz or Rachel.

On occasions when passing Malone House, I would enjoy dropping in for morning coffee and a scone. Very civilised surroundings and a little indulgence. Unfortunately on the last two visits, the coffee experience has been pretty terrible. I have never seen such dry scones that simply crumbled into bits when any attempt was made to cut it. There was a white powder inside, presumably scone mix that had not found any liquid. The nice idea of a little pot of strawberry jam and some cream became rather pointless. Pity. The waitress who had pointedly ignored my wife and I when we had come in and then abruptly told us to find a table and order there, then went on to clumsily spill coffee into the saucer and walk off without apology or doing anything about the mess. We were left to sort out the problem. The offending waitress went missing so we paid our dues to a young and pleasant waitress and mentioned the awful scones. The cost of these was reimbursed so fair enough. However we left promising ourselves not to return until things improved. This is the third time we have had poor food there but this was the worst by far. What a shame. Brilliant location and should be great. Alas not.

Really nice restarant, friendly staff,good atmosphere, food delicious. We had a great time here would recommend it, and we weren't rushed out, we were able to enjoy our meal, first class place, would go back again.

I've been to two weddings in Malone House A beautiful setting, attentive staff ,attention to detail excellent and nothing too much trouble. I Have been back for lunch . Throughly enjoyed my meal. Staff just as attentive at lunch as at the weddings. Greatly impressed. Will be back. Highly recommend

Nice place for a quiet meal wether it be Breakfast, Lunch or Tea.Lovely stroll around the garden or into the nearby Park easier if you have a car and a stroll through the Lagan Meadows to finish of.

I have been a customer of the Hotel very relaxed and comfortable environment I and my company arrive to have a meal only to find 2 people smoking ecigarettes in the bar which are describe by health experts as less dangerous than cigarettes. Must be seen as anti social and who wants to hava a meal or socialise and have smokers spewing out clouds of vapour. Come on management protect you customers health. If it doesn't change we won't be back

I love Malone House as I had my wedding reception here so was keen to go back for our wedding anniversary. Very disappointing lunch - scampi and chips that must have come from the freezer. Unfortunately won''t be rushing back.

Have been to malone house for coffee and scone many times and always enjoyed .... but on this occasion I had lunch with my parents, dad got roast beef dinner and really enjoyed it..... unfortunately my mum and I both had vegetable quiche and salad... the salad was roughly cut up peppers and tomatoes not very pleasing to look at but tasted ok apart from the dressing which was all over it and tart (was not on the menu)... the quiche was extremely hard and seemed to have been previously cooked and re heated far to much ... could not eat it, was not impressed, don't think I'll return.The waiter also seemed very put out when we asked for anything, actually slammed my mums bottle of lemonade on the table!!! At the time we didn't say anything due to our minds were occupied with other things, but looking back don't like people wasting money so thought I'd leave review...

A lovely setting and the food was very good. We had a mixture of meals, stew, chowder and lasagne and everyone was pleased with their choice. Would definitely return.

Malone House is set in lovely parkland with numerous walks in tree or beside the River Lagan. After a brisk walk, a coffee and lovely scone with jam and cream is hard to beat. Burn off the calories first then enjoy putting them back on. Lovely!!!

Lovely comfortable feeling nice staff and wonderful meal. Plenty of places to sit cosy or to be with the bigger crowd. Would recommend.

My wife and 2 friends visited here for an afternoon tea. Firstly the property is set in a beautiful area of Belfast and well worth a visit for that alone. We found the staff extremely friendly and welcoming. The various cakes sandwiches and buns were first class,extra tea was also provided without having to request it by very attentive staff. I would certainly recommend a visit here,full lunch and wedding services etc are also available. I attended my brother in laws wedding here and we had a wonderful day,great food and wonderful staff.

I went here with my two sisters for lunch which was good value Sandwiches were delicious and had lovely fillings.We all choose different fillings and shared, they were served with side salad and coleslaw.The service was quick and the staff were pleasant and polite.We were not rushed and were able to relax, chat and enjoy our lunch.

Been there a few times with work. Their scones are enormous but really good. Only been there for events but food very good compared to other conference venues. Staff very helpful as work got time wrong for start time and they managed to set up very quickly even though it was our mistake. Location is beautiful and keep meaning to go back for lunch.

I attended the Malone House as part of a staff development day recently. The grounds are beautiful and the building is perfect for functions.We had lunch planned for the day, and the staff provided what we ordered brilliantly. Table service for dessert was a nice addition. Food was served promptly and was a high quality.The 'open part' of the building seemed to be well attended and popular with older people (who I'm presuming were retired) or were there for a business lunch with clients.

Malone House is set in beautiful parkland with gardens as well. The lunch room is elegant with a good choice of foods on the menu at a reasonable price. I had the goat's cheese filo tart with salad and chips and my friend had prawns rose Marie with wheaten bread. We were supplied with jug of water on sitting down as well as the menu. We did not have to wait long for the food to arrive and it was delicious. Our waiter was an extremely pleasant and efficient young man who was quick to supply us with any extras required and came back to check that everything was okay for us. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and if you need to work lunch off the grounds are very inviting for a walk!

This is a historic house set in beautiful grounds. It is an ideal situation for wedding photographs.The reception was a buffet. The food was warm and tasty. Serving was well organised.I am not sure whether or not a marriage ceremony may take this in the house?.Con. There is no overnight accommodation. As usual the bar prices are high.I can highly recommend this historic house as a lovely setting for a reception.

Had a small family gathering here for lunch and were amply rewarded with a varied menu which included kids choices. Well presented, swift service and alert staff, so no wondering when the meals were coming! Added interest was a wedding party which did not interfere with our services but gave us plenty to see. Great city feel to the whole place whilst classy and comfortable

My experience was the same as Hugh's. It is in a lovely setting, the upper area where civil weddings are performed is excellent and when the restaurant closed,we had sole use of the building. The venue was perfect for 60 wedding guests. The food and service were excellent

We have been regular visitors to Malone house for years and had our wedding reception there 5 years ago. It has a country house feel with the convenience of being in Belfast. you can't see any buildings from the terrace. The staff are very friendly and remember us. Don't miss the scones which are baked fresh throughout the day.

This is not my first time at this beautiful location and the atmosphere and food has always been first class. The staff have always been very friendly and on this special occasion they certainly excelled themselves. Normally food at a wedding function is fast and swift, but this meal was beautiful set out and every course was sumptuous and nothing was rushed. The venue would certainly be the most wonderful experience for any bride.

Had a work conference there a few months back and had a good time place clean and tidy and food was good would recommend it for light lunch and dinner

Great coffee and scones. Lunch was ok. Nice comfortable surroundings There on a staff team day which was organised really well and great fun. Conference room very suitable. One criticism was not brilliantly signposted from the road.

A wonderful evening spent at Malone Lodge for a principal's retirement dinner. Food was delicious, the function room was beautifully decorated and the staff were excellent. They catered for 160 people with great ease and we would definitely book it again for a function. Thank you Malone Lodge for a fantastic night! June 2016
