It is so hard to get good Malaysian or Thai food in London. Yes there is loads of food. It is western food. This was very genuine. The coconut rice was so good. Rendang was delicious. This is a really painful review to write as we have been in love with Malaysian Deli for so long. The team have always been extremely friendly and the food superb. However recently we have witnessed a consistent decline in the standards and quality. The food always previously full of flavour and delicious is now on the whole lacking in flavour. Previous generosity in core ingredients is now scarcity. Cheap ingredients seem to now be used to bulk out their curries and their attention to detail seems lacklustre with whole chunks of unpalatable spices left in dishes. Such a shame

Once again a wonderful foodie experience, 2 years after our first visit, same tasty food can't get enough of the achar its a firm favorite , and the lovely friendly staff are so welcoming all at an affordable price. I Love the consistency, wasn't sure it would be as good as it was previously but it was and in my opinion it was better!! It gets really busy , its compact but cosy ..Unfortunately so many "would be " diners get turned away, its very popular & always fully booked , you MUST book in advance ..The Quality of the dishes is second to none, portions plentiful and an enjoyable asthmosphere oh and its BYO too.. Love this place no negatives from me I highly recommend this little piece of Brockley go try it.. ❤

The food is absolutely superb. It is worth a trip to Crofton Park for sure and very close to the train station. Having been to Malaysia, we think this is the best place in London and the prices are very reasonable and the portions really good. It is BYOB. We would so strongly recommend this place as it is a delight. The service is excellent too. It's quite small so you may want to think about booking.

Amazing food and lovely staff. A real jewel of south east London. We had the Nasi Gorang and the Nasi Lamak. Both were great and authentic. A real taste of Malaysia

We looked for a good Malay restaurant south of the river, and saw that this place had the best rating. We called and it was fairly easy to reserve a table They have a Limited menu, but everything seemed fairly authentic The starters were really nice - we ordered the dal/roti and satay, which were delicious For mains we ordered chicken percik and nasi lemak. The highlight was the sambal sauce, and the rest of the meal was OK The restaurant itself has indoor and outdoor seating, but limited in number, and was very clean overall The biggest disappointment were the prices - while it was really nice, I'm afraid there's nothing to entice me to return

This place is so perfectly understated with pure good food and nice service. There is no fancy kitchen here these guys serve everything from an over counter deli fridge and it's ALWAYS delicious. Really great little spot, value for money and has a great atmosphere with such friendly staff.

Just Wow!! we tried this place on the back of a trip advisor recommendation and we were not disappointed...Although Malaysian Deli is small in size the food is BIG on taste... Its a small menu but the food is so fresh and tasty your tastebuds will dance... The chicken satay was so tasty and left us wanting more, the Achar pickled vegetables were a great accompaniment too i could of eaten these by the bowl given the chance.The Nasi Lemak all day breakfast with (Beef Rendang) was like nothing I've ever tasted before, all the different flavours together,just amazing, it leaves you wanting more after each mouthful...We finished with a cup of Malaysian sweet tea & a slice of pandan cake, & cassava tapioca cake both were delicious, not too sweet either, great ending to a wonderful meal..Cant wait to return again to Malaysian Deli , this is a lovely, authentic & friendly example of how a good food establishment should be ...Great Food, Great service, they take pride in what they do...We loved it..will definitely be returning and would highly recommend you try this place you wont be disappointed..It gets busy quickly so book your table soon..

We have been quite a few times now and always select from the extensive vegan options. The team are also very helpful when we have been with peanut allergy sufferers and have always cooked their dishes seperately. The food is delicious (get the daal and rotis to start.. you won't regret!), he atmosphere is warm and the staff are sweet. Such a great gem in South London

After waiting close to 3hrs for food delivery, the girl who delivered the food was polite. It came slightly warm but was tasty. While there was a lot of rice, the portions of everything else is significantly small (5 small pieces of chicken rendang, 2 small fried anchovies, a few small pieces of chicken percik - refer to image attavhed). I am not one to be calculative but it truly does not equate to a £32.20 bill. We had very high hopes seeing the past reviews but have been truly let down as we would have been regular customers during this lockdown if not for the unacceptable delivery service. If you are charging so much for delivery (in comparison to just eat) you place upon your customer higher expectations on the services you will provide. A courtesy call explaining the late delivery and transparency would have sufficed instead of leaving your customers brewing in frustration for 3 hrs. Im sorry to leave this review as it is a shame because your food was actually delicious. I trust you as owners would share my frustrations if you were a paying customer. There is so much patience and understanding you can ask of from your customers, but expecting them to wait almost 3 hrs and getting lukewarm food of such small portions, that's not acceptable from any establishment. Have a think. 😔

Have been meaning to try this Deli for ages and have finally had a takeaway. The food was excellent, and really tasty !! Used via the lockdown, ordered by phone and collected. Food was waiting, good social distancing. Highly Recommended Will definitey be back !!!!

The Nasi Kerabu was very good. Decent amount of spice in the sambal. Tasted like home. Will be back!

A wonderful little find, especially given Malaysian cuisine is not a common in London as Chinese and Thai. The chicken satay could do with a little more flavour but the nasi lemak with beef rendang was delicious.

This place is absolutely amazing, everytime i go it never fails. Food has authentic taste of Malaysia and the service is excellent. I will keep going back as often as i can.

This is really a restaurant, not a delicatessen. I really recommend the Satay Ayam, takes me back to my school days on Singapore. My wife really liked the vegetarian curries. Bring your own bottle (no licence).

Intentamos esto. Pero somos de malyasia. Se calienta la comida en el pequeño microondas de la cafetería. Pensamos que era hora punta. Debería darles el beneficio de la duda. Hubo un OK Rendang, pero el pollo Persic era muy extraño, blanco, sin sabor y no como nada de lo que hemos comido antes. El curry de verduras era muy suave. The food is first rate, but extremely reasonably priced. The atmosphere is friendly and the wait staff accommodating. We had roti canai and nasi lemak with beef redang which was quite superb. A surprisingly excellent meal for a very reasonable price. Try for yourself!

This restaurant is a lovely place to eat. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious, with lots of flavoursome choices on offer. I particularly enjoyed the beef rendang and nasi lemak. I will be coming again very soon.

The staff here are SO sweet. The place is small and quaint. The menu is also small, but incredibly affordable and so yummy. This is our local eatery and we go all the time!

I finally visited here after recently moving to the area and while you can easily walk past without noticing it, it’s a hidden gem! Cosy place with lovely tasting food and great friendly service. The ‘all day breakfast’ Malay style was amazing. It’s also BYOB and they do takeaway.

The service and atmosphere is good, no complaints whatsoever. Very cosy. The starters and light bites are my favorites from this place. The Kuah Kachang (peanut sauce with chicken) I had recently was a bit underwhelming in terms of flavour, but neverless great value and still a tasty munch. Highly recommend if you are looking for something different or a quick bite..

Queríamos una comida rápida en algún lugar cerca de nuestra "base" en Londres, así que nos fuimos a Malasia Delicatessen que goza de recomendaciones muy buena en tripadvisor. Pedimos Nasi Lemak (mi plato favorito malaya) y Rendang Pollo y simplemente déjese seducir por el sabor y la calidad de estas comidas. Después nos Gula como el sagú Malaka del desierto gratis restaurante - también perfectamente cocinada. El propietario Hakim fue muy atento y sociable - disfruté de una conversación muy agradable con él en los restaurantes de Kuala Lumpur y los platos más prominente de la región este de Asia. El proyecto también fue muy amable - pagamos 17 libras por sólo algunos pero todavía abundante luz nuestra cena.

Great Malaysian food at a very reasonable price. Good range of dishes. Look out for days when they have 'all you can eat buffets'. It's a little out of the way for most people but worth a visit if you are in the area,

Sirven un buffet por £9. 99 en el fin de semana una mezcla de Gado Gado (ensalada) y carne, verduras, arroz y platos de fideos - que probaremos la próxima vez. Me alegro de decir que ambos disfrutamos de nuestra comida. Me di cuenta el menú incluido y otros favoritos de milo helado como un&W; root beer! Una recomendación de alta y no pasará mucho antes de que estamos de vuelta para otra comida.

I love tasty vegetarian food. This food is very tasty. I spent some time in Malaysia before. And this is the best Malaysian food I've had since being there. Loved it. It is very reasonably priced and the staff are friendly.There is also meat dishes available.

We've been meaning to go here for so long, but we weren't sure if it was an evening place or not. Turns out it defiantly is, and it is SO TASTY and SO FRESH and the people who run it are SO FRIENDLY. Plus - real value for money (£25 for 2 people's starters, main and rotis). We have been back 3 times already since and have recommended it to all our friends. The only suggestion for improvement would be that they dim the lights/put candles out in the evening - give it more of an 'evening out' feel.

A lovely little Malaysian in the Crofton Park end of Brockley. Staffed by lovely friendly people and with a range of dishes to suit vegetarians and meat eaters. I had chicken curry + 2 rotis - a bargain at just £4.50! They do a really good value banquet lunch deal too. Recommended.

See my subject header-all you need to know! Lovely thick rotis with a excellent spicy sauce, and the lemak is full of flavour as you'd expect. They have loads more stuff to try so will work my way through the menu. Just as good as the more famous CandR Cafe in Chinatown. Bring an empty stomach!

Went for the first time on Sunday with a newly converted veggie. Wow. Even me, the meat eater was converted. It was soooo nice that for the first time ever we got home at six and went to bed by seven as soooo full. Couldn't even manage a biscuits. Delicious. Try something new local and freshly cooked. You will love it I promise you.

Good , authentic, Malaysian food in a simple setting. We had been before in an evening and been unable to get a table; this was a spur of the moment birthday lunch. We had Roti Canai(Rotee Channi) with a chicken curry for me and aubergine sambal(vegetarian) for my husband, both were excellent and tasted just like home. A few people came for take aways. The chicken satay at the next table looked great too. Great value for money. A variety of vegetarian dishes.We will return.

The food here is authentic malaysian / malay food. very spicy, left me sweating but in a good way! The food is fresh , a great variety and even the drinks are good. almost felt like i was in a warung in Indonesia or a food court in KL.

Cracking little surprise, lunch or dinner, like sitting in a friendly cafe. Rendang full of flavour, The Chicken Curry with breads is HOT, drinks sweet and refreshing (Lime and strawberry) very well priced, I would reccommend the 'noobie', but make sure you are hungry. They also do light meals for lunch, or half portions.Two of us, starter, (shared), noobie meal and another main, and soft drinks, £23

This place is awesome, a little place that represents Malay cooking well. It's not the most fabulous malay cooking (but even this is hard to find in Malaysia) so if you're a good malay cook, you'll think you can do better. But it's really good for London, and for anyone that has a craving for nasi lemak or samba sotong/petai and similar signature dishes, come here. Her food will hit the culinary spot!

Popped in last night shortly before closing time as a neighbour had highly recommended it. Wonderful chicken dish. As they were about to close, they didn't charge for rice which they would otherwise have thrown away. Nice touch. Very friendly staff. Will be back soon

I can't believe it's taken so long for me to try this place out, seeing as it's so local to me.Came here on a Saturday evening, with the intention of getting a takeaway, but they were so friendly, so decided to eat in. A buffet is offered, with a selection of their dishes, and at a great price of £8.99 each, but because it was our first time, we went for a la carte.We shared 2 starters - Satay chicken - a huge portion with home made Satay sauce, and Murtabak - which was like a pie with mince - really tasty.For mains we had Beef Rendang which melted in the mouth, and Sambal Terung, a great spicy aubergine dish. 2 portions of Coconut rice accompanied it, and again, could not be faultedThey don't serve alcohol (but offer a corkage fee if you want to drink), so we had 2 Diet Cokes alongside.It's unfussy, friendly with superb food - bill came to £40 for 2 including tip. Recommend

Popped in to see what the fuss was about and was not disappointed. The food is excellent except that it is pre made and heated by microwave. Call me fussy but would have much preferred freshly cooked option. The nasi lemak had lovely tasty sambal and the murtabak was flavoursome like home but it wasn't crispy as a freshly cooked one would have been. Still ... I would go back to try more dishes. Good friendly service! Small set up and takeaway option.

Since moving to Brockley 3 years ago, this deli has so far been without question, the main highlight in terms of places to eat. They provide a wonderful A la carte menu, and on weekends dish up a buffet that actually restores pride to the term 'buffet', that we have all become accustomed to acsociating with cheap leaft overs. Everything from The sambal squid to the lamb curry is simply Devine and you taste the care that has been put into food which is good enough to call home cooked. I would strongly recommend this place not only for the outstanding food, but for the warm staff, relaxed ambiance and well priced menu. The day they decide to relocate will be a sad day for brockley. 10/10

Sort of had a vague idea that this place existed but was driving through Brockley and suddenly felt peckish. Stopped off and decided to give this place a try. Staff were amazingly friendly and welcoming. we were a party of 3 - everyone thoroughly enjoyed the starters (a pie with spinach and some other veg in it - totally delicious) and main courses. Small menu but who said too much choice is a good thing. The lady who served us said we could basically customise any dish we wanted. Very satisfying portion sizes. All the dishes were literally licked empty; not so much to do with our hunger but with the great clear flavours. Amazing value for money as well. Definitely planning on going back. Loved the milky ginger tea too.

My wife and I were heading to the theatre at the nearby Brockley Jack and wanted a quick meal. This place looked nothing special from the outside and could easily be overlooked but we had a delicious meal that was nicely presented and excellent value.We had chicken rendang and coconut rice which came with a small, crisp salad.

First time my wife and I had ever had Malaysian food and it was superb. We went for the buffet, which at £8.99 is such a good price, but really so we could try different dishes. Lovely bits of salad and and corn fritters and soup for starters. Main dishes rice, noodles, chicken, squid and another meat and great spinach dish. As I am vegetarian they did me an aubergine dish off main menu too, inlcuded in buffet price. It's BYO and £1 each for this, which is very fair. The food is really delicious and the staff are so helpful and friendly, so thanks to Nizan and Jimmy. They even sell some Malaysian bags, clothes and art if you fancy.The spicy food is pretty spicy so careful if you dont like that type of dish. We'd really highly recommend this place though and cant wait to work our way through the main menu..if we can get beyound the buffet!

This is a great casual place for tasty food. It is a deli -- everything is prepared and in the refrigerated display case. Once you order, they reheat up the food.My husband and I were both very happy with our curry, rendang and stuffed roti. The rengang was super delicious, and we've had a few of these. It had a strong lemongrass flavor, which we both like. The plain roti wasn't the greatest (probably 2 stars) but that was a minor detail for me.I recommend this place if you are in the area and want a casual, no frills malaysian meal.

It was a last minute catering booking for an event in Cambridge but the owner a.k.a the Chef was so accommodating and helpful. All of the food were tasty; chicken sate, beef rendang and coconut rice were yummy-licious. The winner was the Cassava sweet cake (kuih bingka ubi), a clear favourite!Don't let me start on the pricing, it was super cheap as well! I do recommend this place to people who loves Malaysian food or for anyone who wants to have a taste of Malaysian food and its friendly hospitality.

The Malaysian Deli is a real gem in Brockley. I've been a few times and each time I am impressed. All of the food is very tasty - full of flavours. It's also incredibly well priced, and you can eat a starter and main (with a side) for under a tenner!They staff are always very friendly and happy to talk you through the menu and it's a real pleasure to be there.Alongside the normal menu there is also a buffet option and at £8.99 it's also a real steal

I was rather surprised to find this small restaurant which served authentic Malaysian food just outside of central London. The staff were friendly and the food served at the buffet was amazing and reasonably priced. I would definitely come again and would recommend the place to others

I have been searching for ANY Malaysian food in London and couldn't believe my luck whilst sitting on the bus home and seeing the sign for Malaysian deli.The food is authetic, flavoursome and the service is personal- in the most lovely way. I don't think many people in London chose Malaysian over Chinese due to ignorance, but I urge you to give this place a try, I'm totally addicted.

To be honest we were just hungry and in need of urgent sustanence before embarking on a night of dance at the world famous Rivoli Ballroom. Our expectations of finding somewhere that could offer good food quickly (we only had an hour) in this area (London SE4) were low. So imagine our surprise when we stumbled across the Malaysian Deli, firstly spotting hot food being prepared and sold on the street directly in front of the restaurant, so of course we had to go in and see what this was all about. The interior of the Restaurant is basic and simplistic, but welcoming as were the people working there. The self service buffet menu on offer, had a wide range of beautifully home cooked Malaysian food, prepared by the chef, using her mothers traditional Malaysian recipes. As a vegetarian, I was delighted by the choice and had my fill, with no limit on how many times you can refill your plate and all for £9.99 per person, amazing value for quality homemade food. Why anyone would want more traditional fast food eateries, when this kind of food is available, prepared and served by people who really care, is beyond me. We had a spicy infusion (Malaysian Tea) to help wash down our meal, truly delightful, I don't think this Restaurant is licensed for alcohol, but lacked nothing for this. If your in the area, give it a go, you won't be disappointed and please don't be put off by the simple surroundings, the food and the people more than make up for it.

We have only ever used the takeaway service, but the food is delicous. It is also very reasonable. Lovely curries and also beautiful cakes and pastries are available. They also have a shop which sells Malay sauces, noodles etc

We went for their first birthday buffet style dinner. The service was great and everyone working here is really friendly and nice.The good was delicious as well. Good choice and not expensive. Now with loyalty card.

This is a lovely cafe and the food although cooked off premises, is delicious and reminds me of home each time. Very good value and the staff are very friendly. I love coming here to satisfy my craving for Malaysian food. Chicken rendang or percik are my favourites and the satay is very good too. Am so lucky that it's just a 15 min walk away from me.
