Alan, Carol and Whinnie was such lovely service! Amazing food! Amazing service! Amazing price! Would definitely recommend this restaurant Very family friendly

Three of us came for dinner and had a range of different meals. The Sui Mai was lovely, the spring rolls had too much batter and the chicken satay was oily and wasn’t the best. The main courses were much better. We had Nasi Goreng Kampung (lovely if you suffer with spice!) also the chicken rendang and Mee Goreng (which comes highly recommended if you like spice!) I would recommend the noodle dishes and we saw the sweet and sour dishes being brought out, they looked and smelled amazing also! Drinks were very expensive but they have to make money somehow so understandable! The service was however poor, we were ushered in and sat down very abruptly and the staff were not very attentive. We also felt very rushed (even though we were well within our seating time that had been allowed to us). Overall I would come back again, but won’t bank on great service and will choose starters more wisely!

I've been here several times and enjoyed the food. The last time was in June, and the food was ok rather than great - perhaps a change of chef? Still perfectly palatable and the service is lovely so I will be back one weekend.

A friend recommended for us to try and it did not disappoint. We have driven past this restaurant many times but so glad we went today. The food is Malaysian you can taste the fresh ingredients and spices truly amazing. We went for the Sunday special which was £16.90 per person for 2 courses. I had the salt & chilli prawns to start and Hubby had the Kam Hong chicken good size portions then followed by Malacca hot beef with egg fried rice and Mee goreng which had prawns chicken mixed with noodles so tasty. We will certainly be returning soon you must try this amazing restaurant. The staff were attentive and ready to advise if needed. You won’t be disappointed. The drinks were pricey but that’s up to you.

Just wanted to put on record what a little gem of a restaurant Malaya, Benfleet is. Fantastic, tasty & generous portions of Malaysian food from a varied, interesting menu, for a reasonable price, at a clean, intimate & welcoming restaurant, run by a small, cheerful & hardworking team. I have paid a lot more for a whole lot less up town. A brilliant evening was had by my family, thank you so much. It's totally recommended.

The wife and I don’t eat out much these days due the the cost and it’s nearly always a disappointment. For a birthday treat we tried Malaya. It was a really nice evening. Lots off staff so good service and great food. We had the taster menu plus the pork belly with the main course. Plenty of booze was consumed so the bill wasn’t small, however all in all I would say it was good value for money. Only slight moan!! It was one of the warmest nights of the year, they could have been more generous with the air con. Would go again

Dined here one Saturday night with some friends. We had the earlier sitting which meant arriving at 5.30pm, which seemed quite early to me, however don't let that put you off. The service is staggered perfectly and once we left I was glad we had eaten earlier rather than later as I was so full! The restaurant is beautifully decorated. It's quite small but somehow still spacious between tables. The staff were excellent - really friendly and attentive. We were a table of 7 so ordered the set menu for all of us plus a couple of extra dishes. Everything was delicious - it was so nice to try something different to the usual Chinese / Thai menus. Two standouts for me were the prawns as part of the starter (they were HUGE!) and the beef rendang curry. Would also recommend ordering the roti bread as a side with your main for dipping. It's super light and fluffy and goes with everything. Thank you for a brilliant evening - we will definitely be back.

We have been going here since it opened on a regular basis and cannot fault the food and will continue to visit. However, we do feel the drinks are expensive especially the bottled beer. Whilst we appreciate they need to make a profit the charges for small beers is excessive.

This was our first visit to the Malaya and we were extremely impressed! For a Wednesday evening it was really busy, which is hardly surprising given that the food is gorgeous! My wife ordered the dressed crab and it was amazing! I had the Roti Canai ( a lovely bread with curry dip) For mains I had the Beef Rendang and my wife had the sweet and sour chicken, both were outstanding! Service is also swift and courteous. We will definitely visit again and certainly recommend this lovely restaurant to others!

Decided to eat here having moved to Benfleet recently and was not disappointed. Service excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. Quite small restaurant but spacious seating which I like. If you like Malaysian then you have to visit. Staff very friendly and something for everyone.

My 2nd visit to the Malaya & it didn't disappoint. We went for lunch & although they do have a cheaper set menu, we went for the full menu. Food absolutely delicious especially the king prawns I had for starters. Portions are good, I had enough left over to take home for hubby. Will definitely be back.

Birthday treat for Mum and what a treat it was. We each had the Taster menu and it was all absolutely delicious. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the ambience was wonderful. They even brought Mum a birthday surprise. A great experience all round, thank you Malaya.

Don’t even know where to start! Amazing service and so much choice for vegans! We ordered 5 starters, 3 mains, two rice, a beer and two coffees and it came to under £70. Honestly it’s gorgeous inside and the food is 10/10, I couldn’t fault a single thing!! My new favourite. GET THE ROTI!

A very good place for tasty food. Space is limited but decorated well. Last week we had food there after 7 months of Covid restriction. The quality etc ok. But the whole night was drinking water and couldn’t quench the thirst. Just couldn’t explain. Couldn’t drink and the thirst not gone. It happens with MSG ( monosodium glutamate) in the good. It is added in Chinese cooking almost always now in many places. It is a salt but unlike table salt , large amounts could be added. We feel it many hours later. It is apparently not recommended in cooking for health reasons.

Been dying to try this place having moved to Benfleet 2 years ago and I wasn’t disappointed! After sampling some bits on CNY at a friends house, we booked and went (post COVID-19 lockdown) we went for the set menu and added a few extra dishes from the main menu. You have to try the Roti! I don’t eat seafood but that wasn’t a problem as they have veg and meat dishes and we also asked for the noodle but without prawns. We shared the chicken satay, roti canai, pork dumplings and the jumbo prawn for starters, and then I had the beef rendang for main. Each dish tasted really good and was presented nicely. Was due to visit Friday night with friends but closed because of Coronavirus. We decided to order take away for Mother’s Day.Lady on phone was so polite and as self isolating able to follow recommendations. Food was delivered and it was hot and so fresh, the taste was amazing just like being in the restaurant. The portions are of good size and a meal left for later.I highly recommend this restaurant and now take away. Keep safe and thank you it was delicious

Once again a superb meal. Our starters and main courses were delicious, fresh ingredients, well cooked with beautiful presentation. The service was delightful, it is difficult to fault this lovely restaurant, we shall return.

Friends kept raving about this place, so we went with them last Saturday night. They were not wrong! After a lovely welcome, we sought advice from the staff and they recommended some exquisite dishes. Everything was light and non greasy- there was nothing we did not like. Our 2nd visit, we came for dinner last time the food was amazing, wine was lovely loved it..staff are very friendly, came for lunch for the set menu we ordered extra starter which we didn’t need to do but my meal was too rich, my partners was over salty I’m afraid there wasn’t much to choose from for my liking either too hot & spicy, beef or tofu.. hopefully on our next visit there will be more variety for my palate..Loved the Thai wine highly recommended we still love this place..

This place really is something. To have this on your doorstep, people of Benfleet are very lucky. We tried a lot of dishes and every single one of them was delicious. The skate, soft shell crab were my particular favourites. Outstanding value for money too. The staff were informative, friendly and very good to chat to. I really cannot find a fault and can't wait to visit again.
