Malabon Tandoori Restaurant in East Hampshire

A nice little restaurant to which we were met with a friendly greeting. Service was good throughout. We all agreed that the food was very good and all plates were cleared! The usual complimentary short offered at the end of the night and the standard UK Indian restaurant bill received at the end of the night I.e circa £30-£35 per head incl tip! Definitely worth a return trip,

We were recommended this venue by a friend and even though it was a near 1 hour drive from home we thought we would give it a go…. The service was spot on. The atmosphere was jovial and friendly. The prices were by no means expensive compared to our local area. And now we come to the main event, the food, this is some of, if not the best Indian cuisine that I have ever experienced. We will definitely be coming back. If we could give a higher rating we would.

Efficient with friendly staff and great tasting food . We had arrived without a booking having completed a 23km trek on the South Downs, needless to say we had worked up quite an appetite. We were not disappointed, the food tasted great, with a lovely cobra to wash it down and the staff were very attentive and looked after us. Would go again.

Muj is the epitome of a great restaurateur - and it shows with the Malabon. Consistently great food, warm, welcoming ambiance, friendly and attentive service. Muj also goes above and beyond in trying to ensure customers have a great experience, learning his regulars favorite dishes and recommending new dishes based on your order history - which have all been a superb hit. As per the other reviews, if I could rate it higher I would - we consistently order takeout from the Malabon (almost every week!) and love to dine in when possible - and we have never had a bad experience.

Absolutely superb food. Goan Green Chicken curry is the most exquisite dish I've tasted in an Indian restaurant. The Mirchiwangan Korma is also exceptionally good. The delivery service is just as good, prompt delivery everything nice and hot and no errors with the order. Well done Malabon for consistent high quality and service whilst charging reasonable prices.

This is the best Indian restaurant in Petersfield, if not Hampshire. Food was absolutely superb along with excellent service. We are a group of former workmates who get together regularly and this will be our venue from now on. Everyone loved their food and commented on how much better it was than our last venue. My only regret is we didn’t come here before!

One of the best Indians I’ve ever had. Full of flavour, rich, depth of flavour, delicious. The best lightest and fluffiest and biggest onion bhaji’s I’ve had. Loved the aubergine and onion dish. Friendly service, he delivered to the motorhome parked up outside. Will def stop here again.

Can't say much regarding the service, although they did call us to say our order would be ready earlier than expected! But the food was absolutely stunning - I thoroughly recommend the onion bahji to start and my Biriani was incredible, dare I say it, the best I've ever had. There was 11 of us in our group and all thought the same as me. 10/10.

It was a good sign when we were greeted at the door with a warm handshake. Thereafter the welcome continued with extremely friendly, attentive service, perfectly timed food delivery and really excellent fare.

First time eating here since COVID struck. Genuine warm welcome when we arrived, timely delivery of drinks and food. Excellent cuisine. I had a chicken dansak, my wife a prawn dansak and our friend had a speciality of the house chicken curry. All were very tasty, we will be back

Great atmosphere and service, the paratha and balti are the best I’ve had around here and made up for the lamb chops which were a tad overdone. Muj made the night with his excellent service and witty/ welcoming persona. Will definitely be coming back.

We saw Malabon advertising on social media their banquet deal £16.95 each person on Valentine’s Day special. Me & my agree that it definitely was value for your money. Out of the three Indian restaurant in town this one is our favourite because the food & service has always been very good. First impressions was very good, decoration good at least they made an effort compared to the pub we had been too. They sat us upstairs as downstairs was full so was upstairs. Very busy! We started off with papadums with pickles & our favourite mint raithia was lovely. Both ordered onion Bhajee for starters they were crispy, light & flavourful. The mains extremely good especially the chicken tikka shalick and the lentil dansak. We thought because it be £16.95 it might be ok meal but it was actually really good definitely value for money & very good quality. As always the manager/owner had time to speak to us even though they were really busy. Also bought us a drink which is always kind of him. Thank you Malabon

You will get good service here. The people who run the place are friendly. They will try their best to cater to your needs. For eg: I asked for a mango lassi, despite it not being on the menu, they made an effort to put together a drink for me with the materials they had which is commendable. As for the taste of the food, the duck biriyani was good. Every curry (butter chicken, vegetable curry, mushroom curry, chicken tikka masala) that was served to us was sweet, definitely not the Indian way of making these, perhaps Bangladeshi. The sweetness of the curries was a definite put off for us. If you are looking for Indian food, stay away. If you are looking for Bangladeshi food and excellent hospitality in Petersfield, look no further. I wish them well!

Always excellent, never had a bad meal.

We called and made a reservation. When we walked in, our table was set and and ready and we were taken promptly to our seats. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very tasty and a real experience of Indian food. After our meal, Bosh (the manager) came over to our table and made sure that we were happy with our experience. As we said our goodbyes, we were handed a bottle of wine as a gift. What a lovely evening and superb meal! Thank you!!

As always the Malabon did not disappoint. Birthday meal with my wife. The manager always remembers your name and what you normally drink and eat. He even remembered my tipple with the bill! So friendly and the food, as always, was excellent. We made use of the ‘special’ five course offer as it was a Monday. Very good. No doubt we will eat here again!!!

We visited on a Friday evening, 6 of us in total. We were warmly greeted on arrival and must say the service was fantastic. Our waiter was brilliant, helped us choose dishes and was so attentive. Food was delicious and full of flavour. Would highly recommend Malabon and we will be returning.

Fantastic authentic curry.. I visited with my wife and daughter at 6pm on a Wednesday. Excellent experience, opted for the lamb jalfrezi and asked for the spice level to be increased as I really enjoy a spicy curry. Was genuinely perfect spice levels for me, (always slightly daunting when you have never visited a place before...) My wife and daughter really enjoyed also... Staff were very friendly, Malabon had a fantastic atmosphere... Will definitely be back thanks guys...

Seven of us were here for a family weekday evening meal to celebrate a grandson's exellent A level results. Although we had takeaways during the pandemic this was our first visit post-Covid (we gave top marks pre-Covid). The restaurant was full but service was timely and attentive throughout. The menu is extensive as is usual with Indian restaurants. Plates were hot and the usual hot servers on the table to keep second helpings warm - all good. The 7 meals came out together - good. We all rated the food to be excellent, hot (temperature!), well balanced for flavours and not at all oily as can happen in some establishments. That was reassuring as we had two somewhat indifferent takeways during the lockdown. The Food Standards Agency Hygiene Rating is very importnat to us as those who have read any of our other reviews will know. The Malabon has the top standard, a 5 - excellent. They do a banquet on Mondays and Tuesday at £14.95 pp. It's been good value in the past and we will try it again.

If I could give it 6 stars I would. One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever eaten at.

We got in touch with the restaurant to ask whether they catered for Vegans, the manager replied saying they did, when we got to the restaurant we were told which dishes could be made without animal ingredients (alot!) The food was incredible, probably the best Indian food we've ever had, the service was great and the restaurant was clean and smart. Would definitely recommend and we'll be going again. Brilliant food and very glad we found this restaurant.

Seriously bad "Indian" food. When the Meti dish consists of some spinach and dry fenugreek that was not at least mixed in, let alone fresh. How ignorant do you think we are not to know what food is supposed to taste like?

Not impressed with the very defensive response from the manager to my original review. We were crammed in the back of the restaurant next to the stairs to the toilets. The front of the restaurant was empty when we arrived. We enjoyed the chilli salad -/ thank you. If you remember we sent MOST of our meal back. We told you it was tasteless .. you said sorry. We paid and left. We will not be returning!

Very disappointing.. the meal was mediocre and lacked flavour. We booked online and asked for a quiet area for a special birthday. We were seated at the back of the restaurant near the toilets. When we queried this we were told they weren’t aware !...

This was our second visit and on entering, we were greeted warmly and recognised immediately from our previous visit. When ordering, the owner even remembered what we had ordered the last time we were here. Malabon is sure to leave you satisfied with great, tasty food and fantastic service.

Absolutely gutted. Had the worst take away meal tonight from you. We spent over £60 for the 2 of us. The onion bhajis were so dry they were inedible, the vindaloo had "hot" written on the lid which we didn't ask for (we like spice, but that was not even possible to eat), the Balti was all onions and little else, the bombay aloo was nice, but, if being picky, the salmon was just cheap and nasty; dry and mostly skin. WE WILL NOT COME BACK.

We went here on a Monday night for my Birthday. There were 4 of us and we had a really good meal and evening. The food was great, good portion sizes and the staff were super attentive, without being annoying and very efficient. I would definitely go back and eat here again.

Probably the worst takeaway I ever had.

Ordered take away at 1900 told would be available for collection 1930. Arrived 1930 to be told 10 minute delay. Food finally arrived 1950 having watched 3 other takeaway customers who arrived after me depart with their orders. Not impressed. Particularly as payment was taken on arrival before I was advised of delay I see your response was as timely as the takeaway order... a year later. And you did not offer a complimentary drink!

If your planning to go here to eat, Do not leave a tip for the waitress’s as the manager takes it for himself. If your interested in working here, don’t do it as he will make you do things and get “bonus’s” if your nice to his friends and do what he says. He offers the waitresses to buy them whatever they want and offers a ride home if they want to. I’ve also heard what he has been saying to one girl that used to work there and if this carries on I will be reporting it

My Bangladeshi fish curry was delicious. The sauce wasn't too heavy and didn't disguise the taste of the fish. With plain basmati rice, a plain nana and a couple of vegetable side dishes this really was the perfect takeaway meal. Highly recommended..!
