Absolutely amazing all round. The waitress was very warm and friendly.We had the hot meze for 2 which was enough for the 3 of us. The food was so tasty and flavoursome. Thank you ,can't wait to come again.

Walking thru town and found this spot while learning some of its history and let me tell you this food was DELICIOUS and had quick service I recommend the meal for 6 great price more than what you pay for

Enjoyed the meal, had Lamb. Service was really good. Ordered rice with my meal, got bulga wheat, not sure that's rice. I would have liked rice. Should say bulga wheat on the menu not rice. Overall a really great meal, the taste was divine.

Great food, amazing ambiance, great selection of drinks. Mahzen is a gem in Ipswich. We parked at Duke St car park which was a 2 minute walk away from the restaurant. Highly recommend the chicken pirzola and the lamb shish. Huge portions too!

Lovely Turkish grub.. very large portion as well.. we got the £24.95 mixed platter and also Humus which was enough for 2 people.. great taste, great service and the waitress was very helpful as well.. would definitely recommend.

We took dad to mahzen for his 70th birthday food was amazing staff were amazing and the atmosphere was the best, we sung happy birthday and the whole restaurant applauded him which was very moving as we almost lost dad to a heart attack in aug 2023! We went to Mahzen last night and we were a large group. I can't recommend this restaurant enough from start to finish the experience was fantastic. The food was incredible huge portions and a wide variety. The service was also very good! Considering we were a large group everything ran smoothly we didn't have to wait for long periods they are a very organised team.

I had dinner with my boyfriend at this restaurant. Good atmosphere, relaxing music, nice interior, fast service, and delicious food, except for the strong tasting cheesecake. It is one of the best Turkish restaurants.

I came here a few weeks ago with my work team. I had the swordfish, it was amazing! Lots of choice on the menu. Cater well for those who are gluten free/vegan as well! Those who are driving will need to pay to park in the car park across the road.

Visited Mahzen in Ipswich and was thoroughly impressed. The lamb beyti was incredibly delicious and the waitresses were so helpful and attentive. Highly recommend for anyone seeking authentic Turkish cuisine.

Had most fabulous meal here and service was great, would definitely recommend. We had not booked and luckily could be accommodated as even though mid week was busy. Will make sure we book ahead next time in the area.

I love this restaurant so much! Honestly, the meals are so yummy. Since I started living in Ipswich in July 2023 i have been to this restaurant 4 times and not single visit was disappointing. Suggestion - lamb chops or the mixed platter. So yum!

This was the perfect place for a dinner out the staff were very kind and friendly. The food was very good the menu had a good variety of food on the menu also would recommend the plater if you are trying to try Turkish food for the first time and this place was very good definitely recommend

I have been at the Mhazen restaurant for more than 3 times. The last time I was very unhappy with the service . The staf was looking around and needed to call more than 4 times to reach their attention. When I asked for the bill I received just a handwritten paper . Before we left, I asked a member of the staff to pack the food that was too much, and his response was to bring a plastic plate to pack it myself.

Great tasting food and very friendly staff. It was a relaxing lunch out with friends. The decor is also really fresh and vibrant.

It is a fantastic restaurant with helpful friendly staff. The food is delicious, tender jumbo calamari to start, and then a shared mixed platter of kebabs for four people. The meat is top quality and tender with masses of bulghar wheat and salad. The platter saves you £5 per person than if ordered individually. Well worth a visit if you like barbecued meat, we will be going back there soon.

We did not know what to expect as we had not been as a family to a Turkish restaurant for a long time but we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. The waitress did give us some guidance which was very helpful. She also said that they were not focused on spice but flavour and she was not kidding. All our food was so amazing. You get what you pay for and I would have no hesitation in paying for this quality of food. Do not scrimp on portions neither very generous. We would without doubt recommend this restaurant.

Nice authentic interior sets the mood as does the smell of the open bbq. The manager was polite and friendly and able to accommodate us as a walk-in (wasn't a busy night of the week). Food was very nice, although a shame that you could not mix hot & cold dishes on plater. Main dishes were of a generous size and very good. Not sure if there was a choice to swap out the bugler wheat side for rice or fries (would have been good to have had that clear). Staff friendly, only downside was having a large group placed so close to a couple when other tables were available, it did impinge on dinning space, and there were a number of items unavailable on the drinks and food menu. That said lovely meal and would go back.

My take away bag split on the way home. It should be obvious to anybody with a brain that the cheap paper bag will split. The person who orders the bags must have a brain the size of a pea. I don’t know how good the food was as it went all over the floor but it looked rubbish.

Expensive but nice. Meal wasn't biggest but was enough

No vegan mains for a dairy intolerant vegetarian. Wait staff we’re polite and seemingly helpful but kitchen staff not interested in accommodating special dietary requirements. They removed the cheese from the vegetable kebab and left off the butter based dressing, which was appreciated. But the veg were basically flamed-grilled to oblivion. Really when your only dining option is the very average falafel and hummus starter the better choice is to stay away. Like a previous reviewer, I’d tried messaging the restaurant two weeks before our booking but never received a response. This should have been enough of an indication.

April 2023 It was a quiet mid week evening out with my son. His choice of restaurant and very pleased with it. He paid too, so even better!

I hadn’t booked and walked in for a table for one. A table was immediately set for me and I ordered quickly. The food and drink arrived quickly and were beautifully presented and very well cooked indeed. The Chicken Shish kebab was truly delicious with a great salad, dipping sauces and lots of fab bread. It was probably the best Turkish BBQ I’ve had and would strongly recommend it to anyone. And the service was great too.

A good Turkish restaurant. Enjoyed our Platter for 4 and two others had their own chicken Kebabs. Vine leaves and hummus were very good, as was the Merlot wine we chose. Nice surroundings. Worth a visit. Please be aware that there is an automatic service charge of 10% for tables of 5+.

Pretty standard Turkish fare. Good flavours excellent salad, some of the bbq meats were a little dry. Meal for four with drinks and two desserts £112.

It's been a while since I'd been here but as per, I left full and happy with the food. Slight price increase since my previous visit but that's expected along with everything else in the world, waited a fair while for the main and the bill but that's about all I can quarrel about. Great food, portion sizes and well worthy of the value. Staff are a credit to the restaurant.

Booked a table for 6 to celebrate a 40th birthday. 2 of the guests had intolerances. The guests emailed ahead to find out what they could have off the menu. No response to the email, so chased with a phone call. The woman who answered seemed very accommodating and informed them what they could have and requested that they placed they’re order a week ahead - fine. The order was placed in the time frame, again no response via email. Tried chasing by phone but no answer. Rather than cancel the birthday meal we all turned up only to be told that the “admin” person had been off. The 2 guests (not wanting to spoil the evening for the other guests) did not eat after being offered salad and vegetable alternatives. Whilst there, we saw on the menu that the chips were -“gluten free”. A saving grace? No, after enquiring found out that the chips are cooked in the same oil as other battered items on the menu, so not gluten free at all!! Stay away if you are intolerant or have allergies!

Best Turkish food in the area! Absolutely lovely as always

Food was great, absolutely loved it, the service was fantastic and staff were very polite. However the portion size of the food and the the price was ridiculous for example for £7.50 I got only 3 pieces of calamari, steak and chips is usually £25 in any restaurant but its £35 in mahzen because they added a lot of salad, same with the chicken shish it's just few pieces of chicken the rest of it is salad and that's what your paying for it's overpriced. I think they should reconsider making it more of a reasonable price. Also no high chair so it's not kid's friendly.

Food was very tasty. However it was served on cold plates so it cooled very quickly and wasn't enjoyable after a while. Staff were nice apart from one waitress who seemed to be fed up.

I received a warm welcome here this Sunday evening. Lovely restaurant in every way. Unfortunately I only had time to grab a takeaway, lamb chops, which were accompanied by rice, side salad and dips. Probably the most perfect lamb chops that I have ever sampled.

We had a table of 4 booked for 7pm. Our drinks and starters came put very fast and the starters were all delicious. We then waited 40 minutes for the mains to come out which was a bit long but the food was really nice. Its a bit expensive for what it is but I'd eat here again on a special occasion.

It has the best Authentic Turkish food especially taramasalata , the grilled lamb and sword fish followed by the best baclava

We had a lovely meal here. We had to book here as a last minute change of plans for my partners birthday. And it didn't dissapoint. He had the T-Bone steak, which was as delicious as it looked, and quite frankly at £35 was a bargain. They put us at a table which was right next to the grill. Which as first we both thought was awkward because it didn't leave much space either side, but we decided to give it a chance before saying something. And we soon felt like we had the best seat in the house as we got to watch them make everything, including the steak. We have been to a fair few steak places l, mostly around London, but this steak was cooked to perfection. I had the more conventional Turkish dish beyti and it was also yummy.

If you like flame grilled lamb chops then this is the place to come, decent portions and all cooked fresh in full view. I would question some of the pictures and portraits on the wall though

2nd visit here and it was just as good as the first. Very attentive staff service doesn't take a age. Food is deliciously served looking and tasting amazing. It's not huge inside which I think makes the service and the food amazing as they are not trying to cater for huge number. The value seems amazing aswell couldn't ask for anymore perfect.

We have been visiting to the Mahzen restaurant since they opened some years ago. Normally we visit as a couple on a regular fortnightly bases, usually on a Saturday evening. However, we often take friends on our regular visits and other days of the week, as we know they will enjoy the evening. Family birthdays are always celebrated here, so sometimes a large group. Food arrives all together with a smile and is always hot. The food is fantastic, and we have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is great and as I am an atmosphere person it makes me feel relaxed and comfortable. The staff are friendly, courteous, and professional having been well trained by the owners who themselves are professional, friendly, and everything and more that you could wish for. I can honestly say that of all the restaurants that I have visited over many years the Mahzen rates as one of the best, in fact I would go as far as saying possibly the best. We only used the takeaway service twice during the pandemic not expecting too much but it was equal to the food served in the restaurant.

We were straying at the Travelodge prior to driving to the ferry at Harwich and found this place in the building underneath the hotel. The food is cooked an open fire and was delicious. The lamb chops were perfect. Excellent, friendly service. What find next...

We always enjoy our trips to Mahzen. The owner has always been the same and is very welcoming and friendly. Staff were very attentive and happy. Food is always good but we always manage to fill ourselves up on the starters (eat too much bread) before the mains come out so be careful what you order.

Fantastic Turkish food. Great quality kebabs and done on a dining level rather than a takeaway level of quality so well worth the price. Dining inside was really nice layout and great quick staff.

Excellent food and hosts. However, we had a toddler who had just turned 3 yesterday. She couldn't reach for her food or drink when eating. I had to feed her and ended up putting our jackets on her chair to give her a boost so she could reach the table. It's really a shame that they don't have high chairs. I could have given a 5 star however, because of no high chair it has to be a 4.

The food was to toff. I ordered the mix grill. The lamb was un eatable. To raw and toff can't chew it. I completed and the waiter said I will tell the chef.. And nothing after that. And when I paid the bill the manager was so rudely spoke to me. And did not even apologise.. Very bad 1 person £28 Rubbish service
