Hands down the tastiest Indian restaurant in town. It is not the prettiest inside, but the food and service are excellent. They take cash, card and mobile contactless. All the staff are very friendly. I am not a vegetarian, but requested something with garlic and ginger, vegetable-based. The waiter nodded entusiastically as he wrote something down. I don't know what it was called but it was exactly what I had in mind! I will certainly be returning. Table for 3, with poppadoms, mains, and rice, with a toal of 5 beers was around £93 at time of writing. (The other 2 had chicken curries.)

Restaurant very small your pretty much sitting on the table next to you we didn't even get greeted as we walked in waited 30 mins to order our food I even asked twice before that to order food then waited 40 mins to even get our food the food was excellent but the service you receive is very poor

Ordered a takeaway for the first time, went down well with everyone. Nice hot freshly cooked dishes and garlic chilli chicken nice and spicy.

Have eaten at the restaurant many times. Plus take aways. My paid visit from Portsmouth with a work colleague. They both commented on the quality of the food. Excellent as usual.

My first visit here although my husband used to come here frequently in his youth! Lovely welcoming staff and they were really knowledgable about all the dishes. We like quite spicy food so they were very happy to accommodate this for us. Every dish was excellent as was the warm and friendly service. Sittingbourne you are so lucky to have an Indian eatery of this calibre!

Maharani Indian Restaurant is one of my top Indian restaurants to visit in Sittingbourne. The food is always delicious, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I've been to Maharani many times, and I've never had a bad meal. The menu is extensive, with a wide variety of dishes from all over India. I've always found something to my taste, whether I'm in the mood for a mild curry or a fiery vindaloo. The service at Maharani is always top-notch. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they're always happy to make recommendations. They also know the menu inside and out, so they can answer any questions you have about the dishes. The prices at Maharani are very reasonable. You can get a delicious meal for under £20 per person. This makes it a great option for a special occasion or a casual weeknight dinner.

I went in for a takeaway. As I walked in I was met with smiles and great service from the whole team, the food was delicious and well prepared. If I am back in the area I will definitely be going back.

This is a small restaurant that doesn't necessarily catch your eye from the outside but the food is lovely and the service is good. The staff are very accomodating of different requests and are always happy to make recommendations based on your likes or dislikes.

Love this place- have never had a bad meal.

Been coming here for well over a decade,great food and staff.However I have noticed that on Friday and Saturday evenings there is a tendency to service their takeaway customers,as a consequence our wait was for a smidge under 90 minutes, just on the point of paying for our starters and wine and then leaving. (This was for a 1815 booking) It won't stop me from visiting again, just not on a Friday or Saturday. I'd advise you to do the same unless you want to risk a long wait.

Excellent food, the front of house staff are amazing, and can create anything you have in mind. The kitchen staff do not disappoint. Even with an allergy I felt certain I was getting a decent meal without compromising my indian, things were made for me even not on the menu 👍 couldn't rate these guys higher

Pre ordered for 6pm collection, arrived at 5.50pm to find it sat in bags already bagged up on a table, not being kept warm! Voiced my disapproval and was given a story about avoiding the rush. Paid the £150 it came to for 6 people, which is not an insignificant amount of money! When I got home, the food was lukewarm at best, and really rather dry! One main meal of chicken tikka masala missing so phoned the restaurant, was told to go back and collect it. I said I’ve just spent £150 on your food, surely you can send one out to me asap, they begrudgingly agreed, when I asked how long, they said 30MINS!! I told them that’s ridiculous and I’ll come back and collect it but I’m not happy! When I arrived back at the restaurant, meanwhile the rest of my guests are either eating without two of us or everyone’s food is getting colder, the replacement wasn’t even ready and I spent more time waiting. I was told to take I seat and wait, to which I strongly objected and said I wanted my food. The curry was given to me with pilau rice and two lagers as a gesture, no apology etc When I got back home and got into the food it was probably the worst curry we have ever had! Two Bangladeshi naan’s didn’t have a scrap of chilli between them, a tikka rice had next to no tikka in it, a vegetable curry had one lump of potato in sauce and that was the veg curry, the tikka masala that I returned for wasn’t even correct, it was just plain chicken in a red sauce, the onion bhajis were dry and over cooked and a mixed starter literally looked like something my dog would bring up! I wouldn’t use this restaurant again if it was free and I have since found out that when dining in, a free drink is sometimes offered in return for a good review. Think twice before using!

Lovely lovely food! We went on New Year's Eve and it was busy but not frantic. My only draw back was that we were by the front door and delivery drivers coming in and out (and most not closing the door properly) left quite a draft were we were sat, but ultimately, not a massive issue. Looking forward to returning !

I have to say. I love Indian food. The food was the best I have ever tasted! Buzzing atmosphere. The staff were excellent. I have nothing but good things to say. Me and my friend will be going back very soon. Thanks for a great evening!

I must start of with the food was very good hot and so much flavour. Onion bargies where big and probably the best I had. The guys who work in there are all polite and welcoming. The only two things which where a problem was we felt rushed sat down ordered was eating the popperdoms after half of one they told us the food was coming literally five minutes after ordering yes it is good but just need to slow up abit to enjoy. When the food come it felt all eyes was on us to finish and get you out the door. Secondly was the price yes it was very nice but for four of us £127 which we all had one drink onion bargey each and we shared two Narmb breads between us, also had our curry’s and rice. Like I said was nice but to be rushed and the bill being so much will only be once in a blue moon if we go back

I visited on a World Cup night with lots of takeaways but a quiet restaurant. I was made welcome and the food was as good as I remembered it. I go to the area perhaps a couple of weeks a year and always go to Maharani. When I describe it as old school I mean that in the most positive way. The owner looks after you well and has plenty of staff around to make sure that you never wait long for anything. The key test for any tandoori chef is to cook meat without drying it out. Most can’t do lamb tikka without it becoming dry and hard but not here. Everything was beautifully judged, cooked through but no more. I had the tandoori mixed grill with a side of sag aloo and a stuffed paratha. Everything was perfect. Good banter between staff and customers. One of my favourite Indian restaurants in the country.

Terrible service and arrogant. Didn't receive everything we ordered. The bill we received at the end was made up and purposefully overcharged. I strongly advise anyone eating here to add up their bill themselves then compare with what they are being charged. This place will deliberately overcharge you especially large groups on a night out who are drinking a lot.

Tried for a take away, so far have found this to be the best Indian in Sittingbourne, food was full of flavour and decent amount of meat in each. Food was ready on arrival and was piping hot.

You know it is good because each time you walk past, it is busy. Clearly you don’t come for the decor but the TripAdvisor reviews will all tell you how good the food is - and they are right! Staff were attentive and helpful with the menu selections, as we are not locals. Food was excellent and served hot. Couldn’t fault what we had to eat and the Onion Bhaji is as big as a cats head! Would definitely recommend and if we come back to the area, we will make a point of visiting again

Yes another take away that does not disappoint. Ordered via the Just Eat App food is with us inside of 30 mins, pipping hot and the usual great tastes that this restaurant delivers. Spot on.

As always, the hospitality, service and food was of the highest order. Sadly, the table of ten or so louts sat close to the entrance made sure that no one else in the building could be heard...to the point where the staff continually had to repeat themselves and be shouted at in order to be heard.... it is difficult to know how to deal with a large group like that, who are paying good money, so i dont blame the managemententirely...but on the other hand, other diners are paying their hard earned money for a decent night out too..... I ought to add that this was at the beginning of the evening, when not so much alcohol was involved... just a complete lack of class, manners and respect... shame really, this place has never dossappointed in all the years I've visited.

We have dined together as a Curry Club for a decade. This was our second visit to the Maharani at Sittingbourne and we cannot recommend this gem of a curry house enough. We always order mixed starters and this was without doubt the best we've ever had, chicken tikka in batter, tandoori chicken on the bone, fresh onion bhaji all set on a bed of chicken and lamb tikka. Absolutely delicious. The mains were also superb, punching with flavour, good portion sizes, excellent curries and all served piping hot. The special nan bread were ace, straight from the oven and bursting with fresh herbs, the sag paneer very good. The staff were extremely attentive and went the extra mile for everything. Recommended dishes, asked what spice level we wanted etc Well done to the Maharani, we shall return. 10 out of 10 from the LoSG!

Food was brilliant! However, the customer service could definitely be improved. Waiters kept staring at us and their tone made us feel uncomfortable and awkward. Shame really considering the food itself is delicious!

First impression on entering was it is very narrow and tables V close together along each wall. Each table has to be pulled out from to enable you to manoeuvre into your seats and if the neighboring table was occupied I feel we would have got to know each other very well! There was a constant stream of takeaway customers and Just Eat drivers accessing the collection point at rear of restaurant which was a little distracting and by the time we left it was a squeeze to get out between diners. The menu was a basic two page laminate with no description of dishes and a confusing abundance of specials chef and restaurant. Seem to be a profusion of dishes combining more traditional dishes and most mystifying a sweet and sour section which I have never seen on an Indian menu before. Food quality was just OK - Onion Bhajis a highlight, service was Impersonal and not particularly illuminating when questions asked and a side dish was incorrect. Not a place I would dawdle over a meal, eat and be gone we were just there around 75mins.

I had a bang average mild chicken curry, made slightly more annoying by the fact I'd adked for a madras hot lamb dhansak. When I queried that there were no lentils in it either I was told "we use very small ones" Comedy Curry House

The original Sittingbourne curry house and doesn't disappoint on any visit. They will make your curry to your taste and heat with friendly service throughout your meal.
