Maharani in South Ayrshire

Fish pakora wasn't proper fish pakora and there chapatis are pre bought tortilla wraps. Shame as there tandoori children main meal was exceptional

Was recommended to try this place, and I was absolutely not disappointed... Firstly ordered food over phone (very nice lady) and told an hour for delivery, it was here within 45 mins.. Food was hot and might actually have been the best Indian Iv ever had.. chicken tikka masala delicious, veg saag amazing, sweet naan amazing! Massive bag of veg pakora. If you haven't tried this place, you defo need to.. massive meal for 2 could easily have fed 3 of us, with delivery to ayr for £34 This will be the place I go from now on....

Your photos of your food, are nothing like what I was served. The starter was more like nibbles and the chicken main course was overcooked and chewy. not worth the money and the travel down from glasgow.

I have been coming here for yonks yet first time since my wife passed two years ago. Same family concern, dependable food, pleasant.

Superb Indian meals all round. Faultless. Back again November 2023, food still great and service exceptional. We spent about £90 - meal for four including a couple of beers and 2 fabulous naan breads.

The Maharani is maybe the best thing about living in Troon. The food is consistantly exceptional. The sauces are somewhat similar, nonetheless I've fallen in love with lamb since regularly eating here. Warm friendly service no rush when dining in the restaurant and the home delivery is exeptionally quick. Take away is typically a higlight of our week when we order.

Take away, the worst chicken tikka I have ever had, chicken never been marinated, curry sauce no flavour

Mouthwatering meals very well presented

Superb food; full of flavour and generous portion sizes. Refreshingly uncomplicated menu. Fair prices. Warm, energetic and friendly staff who were happy to chat to you and assist with reccomendations. Would go out of my way to return here if I happen to be within a 25 mile radius.

The food here is outstanding and so is the service. I was made to feel so welcome and comfortable as a solo diner. I just loved the tandoori chicken and the spicy onions served as an appetizer (no charge) are wonderful!

Food is awesome. It is still the best taste and value anywhere of any indian restaurant. Back in 1992 I first went there for Valentines night the heating was broken and they had a small heater under our table The food was amazing so more than made up for it. Kepping me going back each and every opportunity. I have since moved away but eat their whenever I am in town and never disappointed you'd be a crazy not to try it

We had an excellent meal for 3. There is a big variety of curries to choose from. Everything was served piping hot and we enjoyed a lovely relaxing night. Our first visit and we will certainly return. The service was excellent and there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Just had a meal here while staying in Troon. Food was delicious and staff friendly and attentive. Big shout out to Narayan our waiter who is an absolute delight. Will definitely be back next time we visit.

I have came in here for years but yesterday was Excellent. Both me and my dad agreed that was best was yesterday. Loved the sweet man, I had the best chilli chicken ever.

Great wee restaurant, helpful friendly staff and good food. Price point is fine. I like the idea of the three mains. Which at first was a bit strange for two but it meant we could try new dishes.

Love this restaurant, we have been here many times. The food is always delicious and the staff are so friendly and helpful.

Having just had a meal for six 4 adults and 2 children, we decided to get the set meal for 4 with a choice of curry’s. Well what can I say the food was exceptional the starters were four different kinds one tastier than the other,the choice of curry’s were delicious and the breads were so light and fluffy not the usual heavy type you get other places, rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection. The waiter NARAYAN was a delight he went over and above and made sure my daughter got Apple juice when they ran out 👌🏻 He is the happiest waiter I have ever experienced and my children just loved him. He is certainly a asset to the restaurant and made our dining experience a joy.

A fantastic Indian restaurant with amazing food and really lovely staff. I love coming here and try for a trip every time I’m in Troon. Chicken tikka pakora and veg pakora, both incredible. A favourite of mine is the South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken but I have never had a bad meal here.

Been coming here for years for both sit in & take away meals. Always been the same great quality food which keeps up coming back.

Picked the Maharani as it’s my families favourite , as usual the staff are great , nothing is too much trouble , the food is fantastic especially the Chef s chaat, we had a selection of main courses all of which were very good , would definitely recommend the restaurant.

We used to order regularly from this place around 7 years ago, their food went way downhill so we stopped, but decided tonight to stupidly give them another go..... OMG, if ever you thought food couldnt get worse, wow, they achieved it, chicken tikka masala, wasnt tikka meat in a tandoori oven, just little cheap pieces of chicken. rogan josh - well, ive no idea what that was, squishy chicken bit in a bland sauce. chips/fries - sweaty and mulched together in a carton. pakora - was laughable, to me pakora or like meatball sized tasty pieces of battered food that is great to dip, but this was all loose, with the odd small ball almost like a make your own pakora, yet again bland. rice was lovely and so were the poppadom, spiced onions were just onion and naan was well plain as expected. my family advises you not to order from here, expensive with budget tasteless food.

Large order arrived with no rice, Called and was told it would come shortly. Ate starters, then waited 35 mins for rice. During 2nd call asked to speak to the manager, comment ignored. Very poor attitude on phone. No apology. Nothing. Real shame as food...

Not just my favourite Indian restaurant in Troon, my favourite Indian restaurant anywhere. Fantastic service, incredible food. A wonderful experience all round.

This is the best Indian food I've ever had in my 35 years on this planet. The staff here went out of their way to be accommodating and make sure our visit was incredible, even though we were not the only party eating. If I lived on this side of the planet I would be coming back over and over again.

First class as usual staff know me been going for years. Chilli chicken to die for, pershawni nan so much flavours as usual

Indian food is a religion and this is a great restaurant. All dishes very good but lamb Karani (Buna style) was definitely impressive!!! Our server was a lovely and friendly chap.

Whilst on holiday we were advised to try this restaurant. We booked a reservation for 8pm on Saturday. We arrived at 7.55, the owner/manager who I’d booked with only 2 hours previously, gave us a sideways look then whispered to one of her young staff...

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! : I never thought it possible to have a terrible Indian meal. I've eaten everywhere from Lahore One in East London to Taste of Asia in Newport, Spice Island in Cardiff, Passage to India in Bracknell to Others in West Wales , also Sheffield and all were incredible. but this restaurant really does make the worst Indian meal in my life possible. From the word go standards were obviously rock bottom; with the meals being made down to a cost rather than up to a quality. The poppadoms were dry and obviously out a packet. The accompanying dips pathetic. Mango chutney that didn't have any flavour and felt watered down. Even chutney from supermarket have more body and substance than this! there was no lime pickle or raita just some tinned pineapple tossed on the side and some onions with a bit of spice sprinkled on. SO CHEAP! the starter was passable but the batter on the pakora so thin there was no crispiness or texture in play. The main was a massive drop again in standards. Plates came out under the arm of the server..... seriously? Cheap dried out chicken in the meals felt like it had just been tossed in a cheap sauce assembled with production line craft ,methods rather than actually cooked - no other veg or ingredients detected in it and the spices if there were any hadn't infused with the dry chicken. Those sauces were like something pre-prepared from a tin or jar. then we come to the utter audacity of the whole restaurant - the price. WAY WAY above the standard price of £6-11 for a main dish - they have the nerve to charge £15-17 for just the main alone - not including rice on most dishes. 50% higher price - 200% less quality! Flies everywhere in toilet next to kitchen and in main restaurant too. If anyone thinks this is the greatest Indian restaurant you couldn't have ever eaten outside of Troon - honestly!

Went here on a last minute wim for dinner. Firstly we were made to feel very welcome, we were given complimentary snacks. The Vegeterian meal was okay but a bit to much ladyfingers. My husband said the chicken curry was excellent. Pric3 was reasonable.

Incredible portions for a very low price. The staff were lovely and service was very fast. Food was really good too! I recommend the Jeera.

Staff very helpful and customer focused food and service is of a good standard. ALSO worth noting on a Friday is open for lunch 12am to 2 pm and for a fixed price one can get a 2 course lunch.

. Me my partner were on holiday in troon we decided to have a takeaway I ordered a prawn dansak and I a chicken Dahl and a portion of rice and a portion of pakoria it came to £31 honestly it was the worst takeaway ever sir you should be ashamed it went straight in the bin

Just back from a lovely trip to troon, beautiful town. We had a takeaway from the maharani on 2nd of June,i had what was supposed to be prawn dansak,which i can only describe as a very cheap jar of sauce with prawns in it,no lentils...

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Been going here for 8 years now and it's never disappointed, the food has always been high standard each time. It's on my top list for Indian food. I don't always leave places fully happy but always here. Staff are that friendly that you look forward to seeing them. If you havnt tried and want a good Indian meal then go here, if you don't like it then I would be surprised.

Been ordering from, and eating in at, the Maharani for years enjoying their faultless amazing food. Tonight we had our usual chicken and vegetable pakora finishing with lamb patia for the first time. We went there having not been before because we were on holiday nearby. It was an odd place. A mix of utilitarian feel and yet reasonable food. Service was functional at best and nobody very interested, though made the right noises. There was something of a sense of having the food pushed at you in such a way you were on a schedule. Then, rather oddly, the man who it transpired was the owner, advised us at one stage that they would soon close and were hoovering next section. He then finished hoovering and told us there was no rush at all and we could stay as long as we liked. Very odd. The furniture had the feel of a social club and there was no sense of luxury or expensive or cultured decor. The meal was fine, no complaints at all and tasted ok. The whole thing had an area of serving a purpose as opposed to being a fine night out
