Honestly - so happy to have this pub nearby, it’s a real asset to the community. Lovely staff, fab laid back vibes, good reasonably priced drinks. It’s not pretentious like other pubs! Haven’t tried food yet but it looks and smells divine Karaoke nights there are wicked fun too - plus the live music - more pubs like the magpie please!

Went to see a live band at the pub, which was fantastic, however the service was not quite up to scratch, no mixer for some of the drinks and a smile wouldn't have hurt.

The Thai food here is fabulous!! Nina is so lovely and helped me discover my new favourite dish!! Definitely try the drunken noodles if you are adventurous with your spice!! Brilliant place to get a drink with your mate:)

It's a traditional pub with a lovely thai kitchen. I have not eaten here but I have seen the food and it looks great. The staff are very good with a great selection of drinks on offer. There's a pool table, a rarity in West London today. It"s not posh. It"s very authentic though. Well worth visiting.

Five stars just because it's fun and frankly surprised it is still here, not because of the pub but due the whole area around it being bulldozed as part of a new development. The place looks like the miraculous survivor of a raid during the blitz. Well done to everyone for keeping going. A fair range of kegs on offer + one real ale and one pulled cider. There is a pool table, a dart board and a blast to the past video game table. A music centric venue with lots of live music events planned. Food was not on during my visit. Great music playing in the background. I have enjoyed my pint. Thank you.

Great local pub, but is 12.50 on a Sunday and some clients are sitting outside having a social gathering keeping the whole neighbourhood up. Laughing,Playing music on their phones etc. and sadly this is quite frequent. Please management deal with the issue as it is becoming annoying, it is noisy enough with the cars already. Would hate to make a complaint to the council but will do unless the clients go at closing time!!!

This was my 1st time back after not visiting for a VERY long time. It has change A LOT! It is no longer a beer/ale specialist pub and now has all the usuals on tap. It's had a paint job, a little change around and now has a garden! It now has Thai food rather than what they used to offer!

Went to watch Firehorse with my boyfriend and his mate on our kind of second date. The atmosphere was brilliant and the service was very good.

We pop in on the way back to home for beer. We was nicely surprise by live music. Lovely evening, shame we couldnt stay longer. Hopefully this lovely local pub will stay open , despite all new buildings around.

A proper old-fashioned pub - pool table, great range of beers (although they change quite often), frequent music nights (if you fancy that), good long hours and friendly staff. A real local treasure!

Is there any other pub where you get greeted by the landlord in a variety of eye-watering outfits ranging from 'Big Bird on crack' to 'Aliens have landed' to 'Village People forever'? Didn't think so. Do yourself a favour and check out this gem. It doesn't matter whether you live 3 or 3000 miles away, this place needs to be included in your list of 101 Things To Do Before You Die. Great ambience, tasty food and drink, regular live music, and pub quizzes that temporarily moved online during lockdown to keep us all sane. Blessed are the people who live close by and can claim this as their local!

We were in the area for an engagement party and had a little walk in the evening to see the sights, we were walking past the pub and heard the live music start up, it called us in! Lovely pub, friendly locals, good music and would definitely visit again if we come back!

Magpie was always a lovely pub with a great landlord and a good atmosphere but now it has scrubbed up to be an absolute belter. Looks great inside and has live music three or four nights a week. A real jewel in the crown for both Ealing and Brentford!

Made my first visit to the Magpie and Crown to see a friend's band play live on Saturday. What a lovely pub! The staff were very friendly, the outdoor space very eclectic, the crowd a great range of young and old, beautiful and characterful! I have been raving about this pub to my friends ever since and I will be returning. This is a pub that supports live music and that is a wonderful thing to support and experience. And to top it off the Guinness was perfect! (I am sure other ales were available and equally good!) The pub also has a comedy night, a quiz night, a night where you can go up and play with other musicians, and of course three or four nights a week of live music. A great pub. I will be back!

Great local pub for live music, retro video games and an awesome selection of Real Ales & Lagers. Fantastic table service, a hilarious quiz night on a Thursday and good Caribbean pop up food service make this a brilliant local night out!

Love this place. Infrastructure a bit tired but the staff are great as are the beers. The Thai food is an absolute winner and the live music on Fridays and Saturdays are a real draw. Nice pub turnaround Mr Landlord

Went to the Magpie and Crown in Brentford on Saturday night . Easy bus ride from Ealing just jump on the E2 Nice real ales, stunning Thai food and a fun dad's band making the place rock. Full of mix of people which made it an interesting evening.

Popped in with an old friend for the first time in many years. The Magpie and Crown sits, seemingly in blessed isolation, in the midst of a huge redevelopment of Brentford town centre but don't let that put you off. A true free house with a splendid selection of ales many from the local Twickenham micro brewery. Pints of Champions Ale (a red rye IPA) were beautifully kept. Feeling peckish we decided to try the Thai menu. So many pubs 'do Thai badly', The Magpie and Crown is the total antithesis and 'does Thai' brilliantly. Fragrant and fresh with distinct layers of flavour, the Thai chef (who I think was named Kate) cooks amazing food and is,apparently, constantly developing and extending the range offered. Definitely worth a visit and a journey if only for the amazing spring rolls.

Best Thai food and real ales and Robert Plant is a regular! Open until 1am On a Saturday night. Plus live music on saturdays. And best Italian atmosphere at Rosetta’s nearby. Recommend a visit and the canal lock nearby is nice to see and hang out. Up and coming area - but give it another 10 years. Id but a flat here !

New ownership the pub definitely needs a refurb but not possible with the development at the moment. The food is frankly amazing. The best Thai food I’ve had in years and I’m addicted already. Genuinely amazing. Great value and huge portions. Service is very friendly and it’s just a great asset to finally have good local Thai food. Very happy with this place.

Called in here on the off chance and noticed they were now selling Thai food at a reasonable price. Had a spicy fruit salad with prawns to start and the Mag Thai special noodle soup with pork balls for main, my friend had the Khaow Sou Kai. All washed down with a nice cold beer. Great friendly atmosphere, well recommended.

Recently stopped in to see if anything had changed and was pleasantly surprised to see the pub has new ownership. Some new beers on tap and a much friendlier atmosphere. Stop in if you are in the area won’t be disappointed.

As some people already mentioned, the landlady is rude - very frequently, she makes impolite face expressions and smug remarks.She also lets her own friends abuse the Spotify playlist, and after an evening of good rock&roll (Michael from the bar always picks very good playlists, unlike her), one has to endure mainstream just because her friend likes it.When she is there, she always walks around with an attitude, trying to find her next victim.Just go away already.Now that the prices raised, it's no longer a viable option, with the Black Dog so close by.

Classic mock Tudor style pub. A good choice of cask ales, usually with a couple of pale hoppy beers available. Very much a local's pub, somewhat off the tourist trail.

Selección limitada de comida pero las hamburguesas halloumi eran sabrosos y una buena relación calidad-precio. El servicio era un poco lento para la comida.

Nunca me decepciona cuando visito la urraca y la corona, si quieres un trago de estilo antiguo, una gran selección de bebidas y bocadillos, este es el lugar para ti. Las cervezas en el Magpie están muy bien elegidos y están en condiciones excelentes. Ahora hay una nueva cocina que sirve muy buena comida. Es un pub muy popular sin pretensiones con casa y ventiladores en vaya sin pizca de molestia. Para el beneficio de un crítico anterior, los baños han sido mejorados. Altamente recomendado.

Vamos a este pub comprobar partido la mayoría de los fines de semana. El personal es amable y servicial y estar un poco lejos de la baja no es tan concurrido como los pubs de la esquina. Las cervezas, cervezas y sidras son siempre cambiantes, soy un bebedor de sidra, pero yo estoy asegurado las bebidas están siempre impecables. La razón de 4 estrellas sobre la clasificación de 5 estrellas a veces es el wc es bastante apestosa tíos!!!

Nice rotating beer kept in great condition and the food is pretty good and reasonably priced too. The service isn't usually particularly welcome although some of the younger staff are an exception to that and try hard. But the gents toilets are absolutely awful - a foul stench of urine that has been there for months. They really should have fixed this by now.

Good choice of real ales at this quiet (on a Friday night) boozer on the High Street though the food was totally forgettable, and the dour, uninterested service left a lot to be desired. Poor service/miserable staff is a bugbear and it's for this reason that I won't venture back to the Magpie any time soon - despite living close by and being on the look out for a regular 'local'. Shame, but there are plenty more boozers around. The Express Tavern just down the road is streets ahead of this place.

Excellent selection of beers, interesting options on tap from all over the UK and a world selection of bottles. Food is ok but nothing more than standard burgers/pies which is about right for the venue, pool table is always on the go with friendly locals playing winner stays on, a proper pub with a proper atmosphere

The Magpie is a fairly tatty place, but it serves a great and frequently changing array of real ales, mainly from small independent brewers. The clientele is local, and none the worse for that.Brentford is spoilt for good pubs. This is the best for beer.

A must visit place if you like proper real ale. Great selection of beers and lagers. Very helpful bar staff who let you try before you buy. The place is a throwback in time on decor but we found the local drinkers very friendly and chatty. My wife thought the place a bit grim at first until she tried the beer and talked with the couple at the next table, now it's on her list of places to go.

What a wonderful experience this pub is probably the best pub in the world.The staff are amazing. The entertainment is second to none,,the people who use the place are so cool , apart from one bloke called Mick. From Geordie land who has a cheese fetish.,

If it's a choice of very good ales, well kept and at reasonable prices, then this is a great pub to aim for. But the actual pub is only a shade from being spit and saw dust. Looks very run down inside, with the toilets desperate for some attention. Still well worth a visit for a good drink.

Was staying at Holiday Inn. Great pub this with excellent choice of real ale. Busy pub which also serves food. Bar staff friendly. All in all a great watering hole.

Good atmosphere and a great choice of beers. Traditional English pub with a central bar and seating either side. It also has outside seating to the front, garden to the rear and a pool table.

I rate this pub highly for good food and great ale. BUT service can be very slow. Not the fault of the staff, but they often need another person behind the bar. My main concern is that I have been charged different prices for the same order!! The till count window is not visible to the customer (the till is away from the bar). So we do not know what's been punched in, itemised. Payment transparency is lacking, which is very unusual these days. Customers should not be in the dark.I would like a visible till window or at least be given my receipt, as a matter of course, not having to ask. Neither currently happens.

The M&C has obviously changed hands recently: we lived in Brentford for 16 years and never went there, but have now been twice in three months before heading to the football. Both times our experience was great: the guys running the place are really friendly and knowledgable, and the food is good. Takes a while for food orders to come out as things are obviously cooked from scratch, so allow plenty of time. The second time we went there we had an AWESOME Scotch egg. Has that Brentford eccentricity (it's the pub the Flying Swan was based on in Robert Rankin's Brentford Trilogy) but to an acceptable level. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking to eat before going to Griffin Park.

I have limited experience in Pubs but thoroughly enjoyed this one. The crowd was mature (40 to 60) so not a puck up spot. I had a Belgium beer which was heat and the to local gentlemen at the bar with me said the food offerings are home cooked and excellent. It is easy walking distance to the Holiday Inn in Brentford.

I have eaten here twice, a small menu but nice food that is freshly cooked & home made at a reasonable price.I've only been here on a week night & it was fairly quiet/steady, the bonus is the late opening, I had no idea it didn't close at 11pm! The pub is known for its real ale some have strange names one had chocolate in it! Both times I've been here ppl are on laptops, I don't no if they have free Wifi. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff.

A superb selection of real ales and Belgian beers in a superb small local pub which serves great, reasonably priced, home-cooked food. The food service was a little slow but definitely worth the wait given that it was all cooked from fresh. Also the staff were very friendly. Would recommend this place highly.

We live rather close to the Magpie and Crown, but for some ridiculous reason we only managed to make it there for the first time last weekend. I honestly want to kick myself for going so much further to find a fantastic selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The kitchen was closed while we were there, so we haven't tried the food yet, but our goal was beer, and boy did we reach that goal. The staff there are amazingly helpful, friendly, and know their stuff. The one thing that always makes me want to go back to a pub is when the staff very obviously love beer, and this was very much the case here. My new local!

Have lived in the area all my life and we have become regulars in the last year or so, ever since the new management took over. This pub is now renowned for the real ales, stouts, guest beers etc. The food is also excellent! Definitely a cut above your average pub grub - made to order and a bit special, but not pricey. Fantastic pub!

I love this place. It really has the feel of a village pub... in the city (ish)The Magpie always has a range of about 8 different ales on tap (and ciders too). The bar staff always have an opinion about the beers and will offer you a taste before you commit. The bees generally include a couple of local local beers from small breweries.I've only eaten here once - and that was a special curry that the landlord had knocked up (I don't think we ever did work out why!) The menu looks, basic, though. Don't come here expecting gourmet cuisine.It's always busy on a Friday / Saturday night and on Saturday afternoons after Brentford have played. The crowd are always good natured (mostly older people - not kids). There are some quiz books and a couple of old packs of cards / cribbage boards dotted around for entertainment. AND if that's not enough, it has a boat suspended from the ceiling. Don't know why. Isn't that great!Given I love it so much, I hope you all stay away!J
