Goats cheese tart lovely, and service was good, and generally expensive...... But £4.00 for 2 carrots... I will say no more🤔🙄

Booked this place at the last minute and we weren't disappointed. Whoever put the time and patience into the interior design of these rooms should be really proud of themselves, not something which can be described easily and give them the justice they deserve, they certainly are a unique boutique class of accommodation. Very clean indeed. Big and extremely comfortable beds with pillows to match. The apartment is a very good size and well equipped as is the en suite shower room. The Parisienne room is a head turning eye opener with a twist of something different, very nice indeed. We can thoroughly recommend these rooms as Whitby accommodation. Personally, we have been visiting Whitby for years but will be making these rooms our first port of call in future. We didn't eat in the restaurant.

Ok went here with 7 of us, plenty of seats available. A rather rude lady came to see us and stated there were no tables available ! We are all in our 40's and this was totally out of order. Needs new management or a change of owner. GO ACROSS THE ROAD, BETTET PLACE AND CERTIANLY MORE ACCOMMODATING.

Sad to say we were rather disappointed after reading the reviews and looking at previous photos of food. Now I’ve had another look at reviews it looks like it’s been closed for a couple of months and therefore likely a different chef. 5/5 for drinks and service, the place is very nice inside and would definitely recommend for drinks. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food sadly was poor and overpriced. There is not too much option on the menu which isn’t a problem but I would expect these options to be cooked well, we both opted for the deep fried mushrooms to start with garlic mayo, I expected these to be breaded but they were battered, the presentation was fine with some leaves on the side but £14 for 6 battered mushrooms is extortionate, I picked the batter off and ate the 3 mushrooms in my starter, something I would expect in greasy pub food. For mains we both went for the brisket bun, buttered corn on cob and coleslaw. The beef was tasty but a small portion for £20, not enough to fill the 20p bread cake it was in. The buttered corn on the cob lacked butter and had so much cracked pepper on I found it too hot. The coleslaw was lovely and creamy! I hate to leave an average review but they really need to up their game on the food offerings or reduce their prices on food.

Found this place by chance after going for a evening meal elsewhere. Loved it only had drinks but wished we had booked for a meal. Planned on going back on the Sunday night but unfortunately it was closed, our loss. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a place that is unique and a little up market

Dropped in one evening initially to just have a drink but decided to eat and glad we did . Lovely food served well very enjoyable.

It is good to see this lovely place open again ....we enjoyed a relaxed evening and good food whilst on holiday in Whitby last week. We wish you all the best and will visit again soon.

We stayed here for two nights after New Year. The room is delightful and having a kitchen was really useful. Lots of lovely little touches. It’s also in a great location for Whitby centre. We will definitely be returning!

Mademoiselle's served us a *fantastic* meal in September: a venison special dish was the best I've had anywhere, perfectly matched with a very reasonable delicious red wine, and my companion's sea bass was just as good in every detail, as was the sparlking wine. Specials menu dishes are usually outstanding. The atmosphere here has always been lovely, like another world since the decor is fabulous and from another era. The glory of Whitby is that all this quality is matched with friendly, down to earth, caring staff and devoid of pretension. We immediately booked for Christmas, only to be shocked to find they had to close due to staff shortage. They had told us they were struggling for staff and it was clear they could have been fully booked 7 days per week otherwise - how galling is that after Covid closing everything?? Hats off to anyone keeping a small hospitality business going throug the nightmare which is lockdown. When they reopen, we'll be first in the queue.

The Restaurant cancelled our booking on the day of our reservation even though we had made the booking well in advance. Very disappointed and very difficult to book an alternative restaurant at such short notice 😤😤

Enjoyed a great meal at Mademoiselles during a visit to Whitby. Excellent food, nice portion size and great atmosphere. Waitresses and service staff were very attentive and able to explain the menu. We ate outdoors in a covered courtyard which felt very safe. The decor and attention to detail was impressive. From my seat I could see into the kitchen and noticed not only how the chefs cooked but also how well they seemed to work as a team, resulting in great food and a good evening.

The food was excellent. We had two vegans with us who also had good risotto meals if a little on the salty side and limited dessert options. The veg sides were a little salty also but were exchanged without problem. I had the beetroot tarte tatin for main course which was excellent. Service was exceptional, altogether an excellent restaurant and heartily recommended.

Looking at the menu in advance this place had so much promise. Great that they do a couple of vegan options for starter and main, but vegan dishes, non-vegan dishes and sides were incredibly salty, and I normally like a reasonable amount of seasoning. Underlying taste was good but all you were left with was salt. No vegan options on the menu for dessert, which was bizarre after having starter and main options. No non-dairy milk for a coffee either. Normal desserts were only OK reportedly. Just a bit disappointing overall. Lovely and attentive staff and venue was very nice, but food ultimately let it down.

After reading some reviews here, I wasn't expecting much, but ended up having a lovely meal for a very reasonable price. From the first friendly welcome, I could tell I was going to enjoy Mademoiselles. We had a table for 2 in the little covered garden, which offered plenty of ventilation, and the size of our table and distance to the next made us feel safe. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menus. We had three excellent courses - I had all vegetarian, my husband had the Catch of the Day seabass for a very reasonable £24. High spot for me was the warm hazelnut tart for desert, with 2 spoons as we were quite full but couldn't resist. On peeping into the inside of the restaurant, it looked so atmospheric and cosy - hopefully we will get to eat in there next time we return, pandemic permitting.

Had a first class meal here. Varied menu and the dish that I had - beetroot and red onion Tarte Tatin - was beautifully presented and tasted lovely. The waiting staff were all very friendly too. It has a great ambience and is upmarket without being pretentious. I am glad we found this lovely bistro! It does get booked up so reserve a table well in advance!

Lovely place but unfortunately the food just doesn’t match the ambience . If a steak is £32 it should be special but it just wasn’t , quite tough and seemed like it had been frozen . The fish cakes were stodgy and tasteless , the potatoes were undercooked and although we did have these knocked off the price the evening was spoiled and a couple of us had to get chips on the way home . All the food was brought out at different times and the lamb was stone cold

We dined as a couple and, on the whole, enjoyed the experience and would certainly return. The first niggle I refer to was however being seated, given a menu, but not at any stage being offered a drink which I eventually had to ask for. That said, this was the first night of being able to dine indoors again and so this could be down to the staff getting back into the routine as they were otherwise pleasant and attentive throughout.The ambience was pleasant with the exception of our biggest niggle which was the phone base station being located right next to our table and ringing out regularly throughout the night. It would eventually be answered by staff who had the handset at the bar but not before regularly punctuating our conversation. A cheap cable extension could easily solve thisThe food was exquisite and extremely tasty albeit I had to ask for a finger bowl and napkin to accompany the shelled crevettes and no bowl to accommodate the shell debris was provided.My lamb was to die for and soft and pink exactly as I like it. Similarly the wife’s veggie risotto was light and tasty.If the niggles I’ve described can be addressed I wouldn’t hesitate to rank Mademoiselles as a 5. All in all though it delivered enough to warrant a return and a recommendation to others.

Lovely food and attentive service. My hubby had the white onion soup which he said was comparable to the one he had at the Savoy. My seabass was fantastic. Really enjoyed the cocktail to start to meal and a good selection of wine at reasonable price. Our only comment would be to serve the butter portion in a little pot rather than the mini packet stuff and give a proper napkin rather than paper ones. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.

If you like outstanding flavours, delivered with thoroughly professional service, a quiet and gentle welcome, this is for you. We had lunch on a Sunday: a varied menu, smart, attentive and charming staff who didn’t rush us. We had mussels (huge) & cod gujons (never tasted such crispy yet light batter) as starters. Mains were mushroom risotto (so flavoursome) & pork stroganoff (rich and tender). Spectacular setting and we highly recommend it.

Recently visited the food was very nice but the experience and service was something left to be desired, came across not interested rude and rushing in and out, personally I would choose some were else after my experience plenty of better places in whitby for you money

Excellent in every way from arrival to farewell. We took the opportunity to have a break away with family on the opening of lockdown and booked a table for four. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Will definitely book again for September when we next visit Whitby.

Tried to book an inside table online and every date I select through until 5th October is unavailable. Called and was told cant book by phone - I could email and they would check availability and call me back. Crazy!!!! You've got the diary in front of you - cant you just book me in - it would take 60 seconds out of your day.

Second time we have been to Mademoiselles and this time we were outside because of lockdown, and I booked a table as soon as I knew when we were coming to Whitby again. Great heaters, blankets, fairy lights everywhere, we could see the chef dancing in the kitchen! Wonderful food, we all had different meals and everything was cooked beautifully. Staff were lovely, biggest tip we have ever given but so well deserved. Next time we come to Whitby, I will be booking to ear here again

We were lucky to book a table in the courtyard, something set up pre-covid. It's a little snug but there's sufficient room. The staff were really pleasant and polite, the food was superb, loved it, will go again when we're next in Whitby.

We had the most perfect starter and main meal here last night. The service was absolutely brilliant, the ladies were super friendly and sweet and the food was honestly amazing, my steak was beautifully cooked. Drinks were quickly delivered too. It really is a lovely little courtyard , lit gorgeously we were not cold at all with the heat lamps and even if we were the staff were offering blankets etc. Great experience all round! First meal out since before Xmas so it was even more special!

The outside eating area had a nice feel to it. We were very impressed by the food. Many restaurants have reduced their menus but here we felt we were being offered a full food and drinks menu. The standard of the cooking was very good. Their rump of lamb dish was excellent, like wise the beetroot tarte tatin. Sweets also very good, well made and presented.

Food ok but overall disappointing. Cheeseboard was three tiny pieces of cheese with a baguette for £12! Had to ask for serviettes for starter. Not offered blankets like other tables were. Nice courtyard but depending on table was quite cold in spite of wall heaters. Won’t be returning

This restaurant is a fabulous hidden gem in Whitby. French food in a beautiful boho setting. Perfect for a romantic meal. The food is freshly cooked and excellent and the staff are attentive and friendly. I really would highly recommend going. Not the cheapest meal but definitely worth it

We read the great reviews before booking this place for a meal with friends on Halloween weekend. The atmosphere was great and the food lived up to expectations. Two of the party had the steak and said it was one of the best they’d ever had, I had the moules frittes which were really fresh and tasty too. The only thing that I feel could be improved is the choice of starters and desserts. But as long as you’re not fussy i would definitely recommend it.

I came here with my girlfriend following our engagement in whitby. Not only did they help me find someone local who could supply me with some suprise flowers but they also gave us a congratulatory dessert too. The food was beautiful and so were the drinks. It's the best place in whitby in our opinion!
