While visiting the best nursery in the area, who really know their plants and give excellent advice, the cherry on the cake is to call into the cafe there. In the past I have had delicious bacon sandwiches but it is the lovely selection of cakes that I really go for. Many of these are gluten free. The staff are excellent, friendly and efficient. An added bonus is that dogs are allowed in.

Called in to MacPennys Garden centre and found that Robins Nest was open again. With the corvid restrictions in operation we had to wait (not for long) to be seated and the tables were spread out to social distance regulations. This is our first time since February and it was a pleasure being back again at Robins Nest.Ordered our food and drinks served by friendly staff and delivered excellently. The cakes are always delicious so ordered a couple of slices to take away.So glad they are doing business again, although when we were there a couple of other people were having coffees/lunch. Wish them luck.

We were on a bit of a mission to buy plants at MacPennys - always a joy - so naturally we paused at their Robin's Nest café. Delicious piping hot coffees + tea cakes, toasted to perfection. Fab. Good value too, and such friendly service. So good to be able to visit this lively little café again!

A garden centre cafe which is really excellent. The food is wonderful, bacon, eggs on toast, and the staff are lovely. The garden centre staff are probably the best I have ever met, helpful, friendly, efficient. As for Coronavirus, they have everything in place and done correctly. I will definitely return when I visit my daughter in Bransgore again

Visited MacPenny's garden centre again for some plants and as always visited Robin's nest whilst there. Ordered Cappuccino coffees and bacon & egg sandwiches + chocolate cake for my partner. The coffee's were large and amazing with strong coffee taste. The bacon & egg sandwiches were excellent and very yummy with plenty of bacon in them. My partner could not eat all of the chocolate cake so doggy bagged and brought home. Just a small point but very much appreciated - The serviettes are large "Man " sized and ideal for a man like me who has to protect his front whilst eating. Much appreciated.

We came for a wander in the gardens which are romantically wild, and stayed for tea. The tea rooms are very rustic but the quality of the cakes was very professional. We had a large slice of coffee and walnut and a slice of orange and proseco, with a generous helping of clotted cream. Both cakes were fresh and full of flavour. To drink we had an apple juice and a cappuccino. There were ample amounts of both. Generally , my husband is very critical of the coffee soI was surprised to hear that it was very good. Praise indeed.

Nice little cafe in the grounds of McPenny's Nurseries. What makes the place so good is the staff. No matter who is on duty, or what time you go, they are always helpful, and pleasant. Hot meals are served until 2 o'clock, but cakes and tea or coffee along with other drinks are served until closing time. The cakes are freshley made locally, meals are prepared when ordered also using local produce.I'm with Bernard R on this one agreeing with all he says about this lovely little place.we have been coming here frequently for a long time, and never is the service or food less than excellent. In response to Carol Nash,s observation about the toilets, These are the responsibility of the nursery, not the tea rooms....They do seem better cared for these days.

The Nursery is THE place to get good quality pants and there is a wonderful woodland to walk around too. The Tea Room is friendly, clean and good value with food that's been served with love and pride. Home cooking at it's best with enough choice for vegetarians too. Thank you x

MacPenny's is one of those increasingly rare gems - a magnificent nursery that grows rare plants for sale. They are incredibly knowledgeable and have one of the finest shrub collections anywhere. They also have a magnificent forest-style garden, several acres of tall trees underplanted with shrubs and smaller plants - at the time we visited some spectacular hostas, lily of the valley, syringa and viburnums. This is manna for experienced gardeners. Attached is a tiny tea room, nicely done in shabby chic, and very welcome on an unbelieveably cold June day, although children of course were tucking into some giant locally made strawberry icecreams. We had tea coffee and the lemon sponge cake. Hurrah! A real cake made with real lemon - and yes you can taste it. Utterly perfect. Tea and coffee were also excellent. Definite gem.

My family had a delicious brunch here. They accommodate both young and old on the menu and happy to even suit my son's needs! All the mums (4 of us) were happy and although a cold day it was lovely and snug! Great food and good service.

From the outside it looks no more than a cute shack with a smoking chimney poking out the top. Step inside, and you are whisked away to a bygone world of fairytale cakes, food to die for, and china you want to steal, clearly lovingly sourced and collected. The staff and chef are friendly, and the menu is adaptable to anyone as everything is cooked fresh from scratch. Great little sun trap patio if you fancy it, and a crafts table of pretty things the staff have made. The nursery are lucky to have you!

Nice little Cafe food was good and staff friendly, would not go again though as the un-pleasant waft of Cigarette smoke from the neighbouring table blowing into mine and more importantly my children's faces is an experience i DO NOT wish to repeat!

Apart from being an excellent nursery, MacPenny's has an unpretentious tearoom with small but tasty breakfast, lunch and tea menus. This is not a nursery which is flashy and which feels more like a gigantic gift shop, but a very good down-to-earth nursery with an excellent selection of plants and the small tearoom fits in perfectly.

went for the plants and really wished that we had not had lunch as the food in the tea room looked wonderful. Great friendly people in the tea room and the garden centre. I was asking for some gardening advice which was given happily. If you are looking for a plant check here first, cheaper than a garden centre with some lovely specimens.

My dad has been talking about this garden and plant centre for a while. So glad we went yesterday. The tearoom and toilets are pretty basic - but pasties were home made and very tasty. The garden however make the experience magical. Wooded area full of wonderful and interesting trees and plants. My 9 year old had a brilliant time exploring, whilst me and grandparents enjoyed finding new and unusual horticultural delights. Warning- once you have looked around the garden you can find these delights in the plant centre. I had to stop at 2 shrubs and 6 plants! (No more space in car or garden! Or I would have kept going very easily.) It feels like I've been let into a secret.

We have been to the nursery and tea rooms before and decided to have a run out for tea and cake. We gather the tea shop has been taken over by a very friendly owner who gave us an extremely warm welcome. It was a cold day but the warmth inside was lovely. The teashop is to say the least quaint with an abundance of different gifts to purchase. Most of which are unusual. We asked for coffee and two types of cake, one of which the owner had made himself. For the size of the tea shop it offers a good range of food and nothing seems too much trouble for the owner. Would recommend people to visit and to enjoy something other than pubs and high street coffee shops that cater for the masses. Can't wait to return and enjoy the friendliness and delicious yummies.

Arrived on a cold day. Funny place in part of a series of what can only be described as sheds. Very friendly staff, great cake and coffee - but the environs leave a lot to be desired. Ideal if you want a warm drink whilst picking up a Christmas tree, but I would not go there specifically for refreshments (and prices are similar to those in much better establishments)
