Mackenzies Yorkshire Smokehouse in Harrogate

We were recommended to pop in for breakfast but unfortunately we were too late so had the brunch menu, we saw the cakes and decided on cake and a cuppa which was great value at £4.95 between 11am and 12pm we were so glad we did, the cakes were amazing. The staff were very friendly and the farm shop was lovely to look round and get some products too.

The fruit and cheese scones are to die for. The smoked chicken ceaser salad in the restaurant is delicious. Friendly staff and xcovid safe. The bacon and sausages in the shop were delicious. Will definitely be back.

The breakfast menu is excellent with plenty of choice and cooked beautifully. The rosti with cheese, egg and maple syrup was different and very tasty.

We came back here regularly during our recent holiday in North Yorkshire. The food/drinks/cake are very tasty and the staff very friendly and welcoming - in particular with the kids! The farm shop sells all kinds of great produce, and if anything we were sad we'd bought all the food we needed for the week on the way - we could easily have relied on Mackenzies for all our food shopping.

We stopped in Mackenzies Cafe for lunch after long walk in the surrounding area. Boy were we in for a treat. The staff were friendly and made recommendations from the menu making the ordering process pleasant. First came our drinks... perfectly pulled cold pint on a hot summers afternoon was just what the doctor ordered. Next came our food. We had the Smokehouse burger that was juicy and meaty paired perfectly with the cheese, bacon and Chipotle mayo. The buttermilk chicken burger was OUT OF THIS WORLD. In the words of the staff, the chicken is marinated for 48hrs which made it incredibly tender and flavoursome. It was cooked to perfection, leaving it still juicy.Needless to say, we will definitely be back for more.

Visiting the area for a few days and we stopped here for lunch. Couldn’t fault it, the service from Dave was top class, made us very welcome and the food was superb!!From ordering to eating was no more than 20 minutes and it was delicious.Definitely happy to recommend!!

Firstly the good, friendly greeting and taken directly to our table for three, menu explained and left to choose. On ordering drinks were brought quite quickly and when it arrived the food was excellent and good portions.Now the disappointing bits, time from ordering to food arriving over an hour, two dishes arrived together the third a few minutes later. No explanation or apology. On finishing our table was cleared with no offer of deserts or drinks so none were ordered. Staff appeared plentiful but lacked focus and drive. We might return but only when we have plenty of time

We ate here twice during our stay in North Yorkshire. The staff were absolutely lovely and couldn't do enough for us. The food was delicious and very well presented. We also loved the new look shop which has been transformed since our last pre Covid visit.We will certainly be returning on our next visit to the area

Super farm shop and smokery with smart cafe/restaurant My friend and I shared a smoked fish platter loaded with salmon, prawns, trout, smoked salmon, mackerel pate and crusty bread. All washed down with a very good glass of wine. We were served by the delightful Dave S who couldn’t have looked after us better - excellent service with a lovely smile. What more can you ask for on a wet Monday lunchtime!

Called in this morning for a bite to eat. Had a lovely breakfast and all the staff were very welcoming and attentive as always. Looking forward to the Curry night and afternoon tea with fizz. So glad we can dine in again. Overall lovely breakfast, highly recommend. Cakes looks amazing! Great place to catch up with friends & family for a treat after all this time. Well done

We were very impressed by the arrangements for Covid and felt safe. The farm shop has a good selection of quality, local produce including Mackenzie's own smoked meats. We had coffee and carrot cake which was very reasonably priced at less than £5. We also had a delicious cheese scone which was served with cream cheese and onion chutney. The staff were friendly and helpful.

If you're going to charge £4.50 for a takeaway bacon sandwich, don't make it thin bread, cut into a triangle, with meagre bacon.

Very poor Sunday lunch offering especially with such other good food offering similar options or fodder. Beef well cooked and tasty. 2 quarter roast potatoes 2 small carrots 3 broccoli stems and 5 or 6 small cubes of swede. And a Yorkshire. Asked for potion of cauliflower cheese and horseradish sauce. Still waiting. Mentioned it to staff. No apologies dust we willl take it of the bill. Plenty of other good pubs and farm restaurants. Look around. Not the best with sulky teenage service to cap it off. Poor for £14.95.

Excellent lunch at the smokehouse. The seafood sandwich was packed with smoked salmon, salmon and prawns. Smoked chicken salad was as good. Staff very friendly and the restaurant felt very covid safe.

This was a pure gem of a place to stop whilst travelling around this part of Yorkshire. Firstly there was the farm shop which was just full of quality and unusual things. The coffee shop was also fabulous. Although we only stopped for coffee the food looked amazing. Would like to tray and get back her. VERY friendly and polite staff

Wanted to leave no stars but had to give it a minimum of one. What a shame this place is using covid as an excuse to offer poor customer service. Visited today (party of 2) at 2pm, empty car park lots of empty tables but we had not booked so the waitress checked with the manager who was very unaccommodating, we could sit on the uncovered patio, covered patio for advance bookings only which is fair enough, but we could only order coffee and cake no actual food, we could order sandwiches to go but could not eat those same sandwiches at the table with the coffee and cake. What a ridiculous situation, it very much felt like we were an inconvenience to this establishment with our offer to support them with our custom. I will never return to either the cafe or the shop in the future and will be spending my money with the friendlier and more deserving farm shop less than 1/2 a mile from here.

Our visit to Mackenzies farm shop was delightful. I bought some of the home made Chocolate tiffin which was truly amazing! The terrace set up was perfect for the 4 of us to sit out and enjoy the afternoon sun with adequate social distancing in place. We all ordered various burgers from the menu and each plate was cleared My friends ‘Grand Smokehouse Burger’ looked mouth watering! We finished off with a Northern Bloc ice cream over on the grass, I would highly recommend the Ginger and Caramel flavour - truly divine. All in all, it was a lovely meet up with friends after the ease of lockdown restrictions

We had a lovely lunch on the terrace; great service - very friendly - and excellent quality ingredients with very generous portions. We can certainly recommend the toasted club sandwich, the pizza ( brought home the leftovers) and the salmon and prawn sandwich. Not forgetting the yummy chips! From eying up other people’s cakes I wish I’d had room for dessert too... The weather was gorgeous which added to the picturesque setting. Very happy customers!

Had a lovely afternoon meal with friends, really friendly staff&very helpful. Lovely terrace to sit out&eat. The food was really nice&presented well too, we would definitely be visiting again. You can also buy local foods&other products for the house or personal things too, really nice place to visit.

We took my Mum here for lunch and chose it because it offered outside dining. When we arrived we had to walk through the farm shop to get to the terrace but it felt very safe with hand sanitizer gel available and everyone wearing masks. It was a warm day and the sun was shining so it was lovely to sit out on the terrace to eat. The current lunch menu at Mackenzies isn’t huge but there’s something on it for everyone, from fish and chips to olives and hummus. Within our party we had a pizza, a smoked chicken salad, a seafood sandwich, a club sandwich and I had the fish pie. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and the portion sizes were spot on - even the ones who just had sandwiches had plenty to eat as they came with salad and chips. My fish pie was amazing and it came with lots of lovely veg too. The staff were incredibly friendly and really enthusiastic about their food. Service was great and masks were worn by the staff throughout, even when serving outside. For dessert Mackenzie’s offers a selection of cakes. They don’t offer ice cream but we were told that, as we’d had a meal there, they were happy for us to buy some in the farm shop and bring it back to the table. All in all we had a lovely lunch and will definitely go back again. My only suggestion is that they should also make their “sharing platters” available as a plate for one as they looked absolutely delicious but I didn’t get one as nobody in my party wanted to share one with me.

Lunch at Mackenzies on their stunning sun terrace overlooking the yorkshire hills is just fabulous. Dave looked after us well, talked us through the menu and made recommendations. Clearly passionate about his business. The food was cooked to perfection and the smoked salmon (smoked onsite and sold I. Their extensive farm shop) was the best I’ve had in a long time. We will be back again and again. Everyone we take wants to go back!

We ordered the smoked fish pate and hummus with bread and olives and were disappointed by the the amount of pate and hummus and the stale bread. Olives were stoned and in brine with an unpleasant plastic taste-the cheapest you can buy. The bread was dry and clearly not fresh- given that it is made locally I expected much more.

We had the Saturday night takeaway curry and it was delicious. We had one of each of the 3 curries and we all had a different favourite (lamb rogan josh was mine!). The rice and sides were equally good. Can’t wait to try the F&C and burger nights!

Had a fantastic top quality Indian takeaway Saturday night which was absolutely fantastic! Wanted to say thank you to the excellent staff for recommending the lamb rogan josh & chicken tikka Marsala they were both gorgeous! We will definitely be re ordering again also looking forward to the new Thursday night Burger menu it’s also great to support the local farms and suppliers in Yorkshire.. keep up the good work.

I took my mum for a bite to eat and was recommended the homemade chicken and lentil soup made by Dave the restaurant manager(along with either the meat board or the fish board) . Not only was he the host with the most, the soup was out of this world. Delicious. What an absolutely friendly and welcoming environment. Loved it and will be recomendng this lovely farm shop and restaurant/cafe to friends and family. What a gem of a find!

Having moved here nearly a year ago, Mackenzies soon became our place to go for lunch or coffee & cake. Great selection of cakes, sandwiches & hot food have always been excellent. Great place for Sunday lunch too!During the summer months you can sit outside on the terrace with your dog. The farm shop sells high quality products including a table full of Baltzersen's bread and pastries from Harrogate. The cafe’s Manager is always very welcoming, him and his staff offer great customer service. Highly recommended a visit.

Food was really good and table service was really good and fast. Dave was really positive and helpful. Would recomend.

The food and service were both excellent! Dave is a 5* guy - we’ve visited before, and each time he has greeted us warmly, given us great recommendations, and gone over and above to help us out.Two of us ate the Trio of Cumberland Sausages (with extra gravy, thanks again Dave!) and one of us tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich, all of them which were great. I loved the mulled wine which Dave recommended too!Will definitely be coming back :)

Been meaning to visit for a while but never quite got round to it. Today we finally went for lunch and it was worth the wait! Food was absolutely delicious, the Baileys hot chocolate was just what was required on a cold December day and the staff couldn’t have been more attentive. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and myself have just been to McKenzies smoke House near Harrogate.I can’t give it enough stars, fantastic service, and the food was amazing.We have booked again to take the kids for the Sunday Roast.I would would like to thank the two Dave’s for looking after us so well.

This is a business local to me and during the first lockdown I was popping into the shop for provisions, buying takeaway coffees and looking forward to trying the café. I don't eat meat but do eat fish, when I booked I checked the menu - plenty of choice for me. Unfortunately, on a Sunday they have a very pared down menu. They do offer a nut roast with the Sunday Lunch, but the only sandwiches were all meat.I asked the young waitress if there were any other sandwiches available, she was clearly not used to such questions, so I opted for a cheeseboard - not ideal but little else other than cake. What was offered was four really small pieces of cheese, when I raised this with the "manager" I was given some additional cheese. When I asked the manager why there weren't any non-meat sandwiches he said "we tried vegan options but they didn't sell" I replied what about a cheese sandwich, he repeated his statement about vegan food. At this point I would left with the caution that it wasn't much good for non-meat eaters on a Sunday. Then I saw that the adjacent table were served with a smoked salmon sandwich - this is a Smokehouse after all. When I queried this with the manager he informed me "we had run out of roast dinners, so that was an alternative option". So why wasn't I offered this when I specifically asked if there were any other sandwiches available? That is a point that has yet to be answered by the café, despite me emailing them three times, I have only been fobbed off with "we will discuss this with the member of staff when they return after furlough". We visited the Sunday before lockdown. My first email was sent the next day.If you are looking for a decent Sunday lunch option for a non-meat eater visit the Queens' Head, Kettlesing instead - fantastic customer service.

My husband and I went for lunch yesterday on a recommendation from friends. We went early so that we could look round the shop first. This was most impressive. A fantastic choice of food and other goods were on display. In the restaurant the food on offer hearty and delicious on a cold and windy day . The service was friendly and helpful. We will certainly go again. Our next visit will be Sunday lunch which looks excellent. It would appear that booking is advisable at the moment.

I have started using this regularly for shopping and going to the restaurant. The produce in the shop is first class. The restaurant serves a lovely breakfast and is also lovely for an afternoon coffee and cake. You can sit outside if you prefer and there is shelter if it is raining.

We were apprehensive as my sister-in-law had had an amazing pie meal from Mackenzies a year before under previous owners, but we decided to give the Friday pie deal a try (£12 for pie and pint).But we were NOT disappointed, the welcome was warm even though we were sat outside with the dog (fab nordic throws to keep the chill off), and the dog got treats too. The meal was tasty and the pie packed with steak. Will definately make a point of going again.

We went for a birthday lunch - excellent food and deli shop, really friendly service and huge portions! Exactly what was needed after a wintery walk.

First visit since the new owners and it looks lovely. Our food was amazing, even the kids ate all their pizzas! A little more choice on the menu would be better but what we had was lovely. Definitely will call again

The food was lovely (proper chips!), the service was a little slow, but we didn't mind as the restaurant was busy and the staff are so friendly and clearly making every effort to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Despite not booking, the staff went to great lengths to find us a table. I hadn't realised until we came to pay the bill that kids ate free during 1/2 term - which was a fantastic surprise.

Called in today on way home to Harrogate from a weekend away. Hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in. We're first time visitors, having heard good reports from family previously.Truly amazing!! Staff were fantastic - friendly and knowledgeable. Service was excellent.Lunch of Steak pie & my wife had fish pie. Superb. Both just right. Picture of steak pie below.Decided to have some cake afterwards. My favourite 2 "cakes" are coffee cake and caramel shortbread/millionaires shortbread. We ordered both to share. I'm often disappointed as they always look great in cafés but don't measure up. These were amazing. Both out of this world. Couldn't have been happier!!To top it off, picked up a couple of Christmas pressies in the shop.Will definitely be returning, 2 very very happy customers.

Really enjoyable meal with friendly staff who were happy to accommodate and entertain my young son.I’m a vegan, my husband eats everything and my toddler changes his mind on a regular basis(!) - a relief to find somewhere that caters for all our dietary requirements without going off menu!Thank you, will be back soon.

Having had a busy morning I felt myself and hubby had earned a cooked breakfast so headed for Mackenzies Yorkshire Smokehouse hoping for a table. We were seated right away and in no time had ordered and were tucking in to the fluffiest pancakes, maple syrup and bacon washed down with a much welcomed cup of tea. Staff were really friendly and attentive and coupled with the diverse selection of food and goodies in the shop I certainly will be coming back. Sandra

I only left a good review for this place a couple of months ago, but how things have changed. Last month we visited for breakfast, the eggs were solid and inedible and the mushrooms were cold. They have lovely bread in the shop but the breakfast is served on the cheapest sliced bread. We sent it back and it came back OK, not great. We decided to go for lunch today, the place was quiet. There was plenty of staff, not sure who was in charge. We were taken to a table and given menus and then totally ignored by all staff, despite my attempts to get someone's attention, which all failed. After being sat for 22 minutes, we walked out. Very disappointing and won't be going again. Just to add the shop is well stocked and there is a lovely florist and accessory shop.

Called in with my wife just to get out and about a bit - but don't let the need to do that take the shine off a very welcome break. High quality meat, fish and fruit - yes fruit you can actually eat and not deep frosted and unripe. And meat looking just like it should - lean, good colour and not bloated with water etc - great stuff.The shop restaurant; no its not Michelin - but its good Yorkshire food and well presented - I will have to go back and try the fish platter - now that is something to see!Such an important aspect of a restaurant are the staff. Let me tell you, if you are an employer wanting your faith restored in young people - get down there - and you will set them on. Great kids, without exception, fantastic business assets. So, 10 out of 10 to whoever recruited them!The first review I saw on Trip Advisor is coming up 4 years old - it needs waking down now, this place is refreshed, it gives a great service and deserves something better in return.Well done management and team.

Having driven past many times we decided to pop in for lunch. There was plenty of parking and and a lovely display of pumpkins outside. There are several sections to the shop, as well as the cafe. We went for a seafood platter which was brilliant - we especially enjoyed the salmon pate and mackerel pate. The Covid measures were good, we felt safe, and the staff were really friendly too. We bought some mackerel pate to take home too!

Great breakfast with a lovely atmosphere, the staff were all very friendly and the shop had brilliant range of local produce and a large selection of gifts ready for Christmas. All compliant with the covid rules too. Overall a great visit, will be coming back!

Visited Mackenzies today for lunch. The service was excellent, very reasonable prices for hot delicious food. I had a fish pie and I have to say it is the BEST fish pie I have ever had. (Always my choice if available when dining out). My husband had the Steak and Guiness pie which was filled with large pieces of meat with proper chips. I cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough.

Have visited twice now and definitely will be back in the future. Staff are always so welcoming and friendly, quick and efficient service. Nice clean restaurant, well presented and maintained. Food is always so tasty and love that we can wander round the shop afterwards to take some treats home.One little suggestion going forward, we were unable to see any drinks menus, when I asked the server what fizzy drinks you had she didn't seem certain and just offered coke or lemonade. Not a big issue at all but something of note from the trip.Overall an excellent place to eat, the platters are a real eye catching treat and we are very keen to visit for a Sunday lunch soon!

Visited a couple of weeks ago after a pleasant walk around Fewston reservoir. A nice day and sat out on the decking. My wife had a king prawn sandwich and I had the seafood sandwich. The salmon in the sandwich was fabulous. The “54” lager made by Black Sheep washed everything down superbly. Definitely be back

We had heard that this business is now under new ownership so we gave it another try. What a mistake, chaotic slow service. Food taken to wrong tables, wrong bills given etc. There were lots of young ones serving but no one in control. At one point no one could operate the till. Food very slow to arrive and when it did we had to send it back to the kitchen. My kippers was cold and didn't look as if it had been cooked and my friends rösti was literally burnt to a crisp. We paid for our coffees and left. Should just add that the shop was very well stocked and interesting

We arrived with dogs after checking the outside eating area was still open, one of the party needing to go through the shop to inforn the cafe we were waiting. After waiting for ages my partner went in & ordered coffees as no one came out. He brought back menus, when the coffees came we asked to order food, he couldn't take the order as he needed an iPad, someone else came after 10 minutes with a pad & pen - we'd drank our coffees by this time. 2 more coffees, 2 glasses of water, rosti & bacon, eggs royale please. 2 coffees came.......we waited but the food didn't follow so we drank the coffees. The food eventually arrived, the rosti was thin & dry, hard to eat with just the bacon - not something I'd order again. Eggs royale was good. The water never came. The lads serving were pleasant enough but just seemed to have no idea of how to serve drinks & food together!

We were recently fortunate enough to find ourselves in Mackenzie's for lunch, having walked from our Holiday Cottage; oh how lucky we were!The friendly welcome was extended to us by each of the Smokehouse team, as, in particular, David who was friendly, courteous & nothing was too much trouble. We were invited to dine on the large sun drenched terrace. The menu catered for all of our group's culinary desires; vegan & carnivores alike! The food completely surpassed any expectations; delicate & sumptuous smoked platters of beautiful fish were an absolute hit! Fantastic,rich coffee & the 'Rocky Road' rounded of a spectacular meal.We loved it so much, we ordered our lunch for take out, the following day & again , David & the team were wonderfully attentive to detail.Thank-you Smokehouse team - not only are your smoky delights irresistible,you are all doing an amazing job of restoring calm & spreading the smiles, in uncertain times. Mackenzie's Smokehouse is ideally situated to refuel hungry walkers coming from the beautiful Thruscross Reservoir. The sourdough pizza was delicious and the steak and Guinness pie was outstanding!Excellent, friendly service and a wonderful farm shop full of local produce.I highly recommend a visit to AONB Nidderdale capped by a visit to Mackenzie's Smokehouse for the perfect Yorkshire day out!

We use the farmshop every week and eat at the cafe for a treat. The boards are superb and the recent new owners have made this a real local treasure!

Decided to call in at Mackenzies just off the A59 the other day for breakfast. Went for the big breakfast which has the usual ingredients including very nice black pudding and tasty smoked bacon (plain is an option). All cooked very nicely, prepared in reasonable time and served by courteous and pleasant staff. The shop has a good selection of specialist produce and gifts so certainly worth a visit when you’re out that way. Bought some scones which were lovely and even found some brandy snaps which we hadn’t seen for ages. They were delicious.

Awful breakfast very disappointed as usually such high standards here. Where do I start?! Breakfast took a long time to come, most items were cold and the sausage had barely seen any cooking at all despite asking for this well done. A disappointing experience and nothing from the staff when they were told. Hopefully a one off.

My husband and I visited for breakfast after a lovely walk around Swinsty reservoir and was lucky enough with the weather to be able to sit outside. The views were stunning! We were spoilt for choice - the menu had something for everyone and it was tough to choose! I loved the look of it all! My husband went for the full English with their own smoked bacon and I went for eggs royale. The presentation and quality of ingredients was superb and the portions were extremely generous! The service was fantastic and staff were very friendly and attentive. The shop is amazing - it’s more of a shopping experience! So much on offer from your daily staples to quirky, unique, one-off household items/gifts - it’s a one stop shop and well worth a special visit even if you’re not local! They have everything you’d expect in place to be Covid safe too, so you can dine/shop with peace of mind. I can’t wait to go back again! See you soon Mckenzie’s x

The recent changes with new owners has made this a great place to visit. The shop has been extended and there is an excellent range of goods / produce.We had breakfast in the cafe, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Freshly prepared food and good quality. The cake choice was amazing!There was good social distancing in place and good Coronavirus precautions A very pleasant experience and will happily return

Had the pleasure of coming to Mackenzie's during the August 50% off government scheme, and we came here for the fish platter. So you could say that we came for a fishi rishi dishi, as it were. I'll see myself out....Jokes aside, the fish platter was superb and had a selection for fish and prawns served with freshly baked bread, capers and salad. I'd recommend this to anyone who enjoys fish, and it is well worth it even without 50% off. We also got a bonus Margherita pizza to share which was also delicious. 5* overall!

Had the fish sharing platter, which was awesome. Excellent quality, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. The farm shop was also a delight, selling fresh local produce.

Visited today with my Husband and well behaved German Shepherd and we were all made very welcome. The staff were very informative about their food and clearly passionate about it which is always a good sign. We had a lovely coffee each which we requested pouring cream with which was no problem despite it not being on the menu. The only thing I will say is that I wish the coffee had been filled to the top rather than 2/3rds full.We ordered the fish platter for 2 and it was amazing - a more than plentiful variety of lovely fresh smoked fishes and the freshest of prawns with a generous amount of salad and granary bread and butter.We were going to have a jam and cream scone to share for dessert but we just didn't have room. We had seen other diners getting them and they looked huge and amazing and we heard were still warm from the oven.We will definitely be going back next week for the meat and cheese platter for 2 and we will be sure to be extra hungry so we will have room for a pudding!All the food looked really good and we saw huge bowls of soup with lots of lovely breads and other delights being served.Honestly - it is well worth a visit

Lovely lunch with a friend. Food & service brilliant and as we were on the outside verandah the views were lovely too. Had the fish sharing platter, every part of which was delicious followed by the most enormous fully fruited scone I've ever seen. Took me about 2 hours to get through it all but I'm no quitter . Was pretty busy due to the Eat out to help out offer but I imagine it would be worthwhile booking if you want a meal as it is a real gem. Good farm shop attached with a wide range of smoked delicacies along with lots of other essential & luxury groceries & a few gift items. This was my first visit here & I'm already planning a return visit soon. Thank you lovely staff for being so friendly, attentive & ensuring we felt safe throughout our visit.

Had a lovely lunch! Pulled pork sandwich was amazing!! Very nice, friendly, warm and welcoming staff! Lovely surroundings, a nice shop to look in afterwards! I would well recommend this place!

I visited here on Friday for lunch with some friends and had a delicious pulled pork sandwich followed by a share of some millionaires shortcake and some rockie road both yummy. Felt very safe and the service was excellent. Would highly recommend .

Visited for breakfast and a very long overdue catch up with a friend. The food was delicious and the staff were the most welcoming and friendly I have encountered in some time. Our overdue catch up took us several hours and at no point during our extended stay were we made to feel unwelcome or given the impression that they wished we would leave. Indeed we stayed so long that lunch was being served by the time we left and the sight of the fabulous array of lunch options made us feel very lucky to live locally and therefore able to visit again in near future.The recent changes the new owners have carried out have transformed the whole venue with the shop being extended so that it carries a wealth of local produce and interesting delicacies.

Fantastic! We had range of soups, sandwiches and pizza. All delicious and all plates empty! Staff very helpful and friendly. Many thanks for a great lunch.

Excellent food Excellent service in a very safe Relaxed environment. Waiter even managed to rescue one of the superb almond croissants to enjoy with our coffee.

Did the walk that, I imagine many people do before the eat here, of the two reservoirs. Had booked a table as they are part of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme and know these places get busy. We were given the option of eating inside or out and we chose the decking outside. We ordered the salads and were not disappointed. We watched both fish platter and sandwiches come out to other tables and could have eaten those too - all looked really good. Will return.

My son,daughter and I called in here after a very long hot walk and was in need of a very cold drink.Straight away the staff were there to welcome us. They were very chatty and were interested in what we had been up too.They served drinks quickly and we decided to stay and have food too. The service was quick and again the staff made sure that everything was ok.The food was really good and my daughter who is 2 ate for free. It was also a really good time to go due to the government 50% off.

No booking required but did phone ahead to check availability.Disappointed to see salt and pepper already on table. Unsure of COVID-19 requirements but I thought everything had to be single use.Ordered 2 sandwiches but 1 delivered incorrectly and then substitute had wrong sort of bread.Food was tasty with freshly cut chips.

Absolutely brilliant!!We visited for breakfast as a family and it was fab. The sausages were amazing and the guy who served us was attentive and chatty and just seemed to love his job. The farm shop was also lovely. Certainly worth a trip. Only negative.... not enough beans!!!!Loved it. Will go again!!

If you're looking for a place to host a community event then Mackenzie's Yorkshire Smokehouse at Blubberhouses, near Harrogate, is the place to go. I was there with my craft group last weekend and we were made to feel very welcome by the team, particularly David who arranged the lovely food for us. We tried out the sausage and bacon sandwiches, scones, brownies and chocolate cake which were excellent. Depending on your needs, there is a large upstairs room for groups or you can have tables in the main cafe area where access is level. There's no charge for the tables, you just buy a snack and coffee but because the cafe is very popular you do need to book your event.  Afterwards we all browsed the delicious food in the farm shop which has recently been expanded. We don't usually meet in August but our members like the venue so much that they want me to book again in a few weeks time. 

We popped in for the first time today after a long walk around swinsty and fewston reservoirs. We received a warm welcome and the cafe area is very comfortable. Great tea and cake at reasonable prices - we will definitely be back! And the farm shop is also amazing, we picked up some bits on the way out.

Last minute decision to pop in for brunch and had a really friendly welcome. Staff were attentive and quick to take our order. Good choice on the menu especially considering it was a covid, striped back menu. Food was all delicious - bread was incredibly fresh and gorgeous, freshly squeezed orange juice. great value for money, and loved how children eat for free. Highly recommend and look forward to returning.

Visiting the area we have enjoyed meals at the resturant twice this week and have been welcomed kindly and well accommodated on both occasions, once for Sunday Lunch and the other occasion for a late breakfast. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent.We may be able to fit in one more visit before we leave . . .

Popped into Makenzie's Smokehouse for a quick bite before a walk around the reservoir. Plenty of parking, excellent service and a brilliant Sunday lunch , the quality of the food was very high (lovely beef,and plenty of it) and the service impeccable (the staff,particularly the young man, checked on us constantly, we certainly were not neglected....which is important as we were outside with the dogs)) The price was very reasonable . The farm shop is brilliant and dangerously tempting.

One of THE best places to eat in the area. We had the pulled pork and is was cooked to perfection, with lovely homemade bread. Finished with chocolate cake, which once again was perfect. The staff are super attentive and friendly. Good value for money as well. Highly recommended

We had a lovely family lunch. Fantastic smoked meat and fish sharing platters. Pizzas good too. Friendly service. The shop is attractive with lots of interesting local suppliers and also has a good fresh fruit and veg offer. Great gift shop.

Popped in for the Sunday roast - it was excellent - fantastic service - good value too! (3rd visit this week - had the seafood sandwich on last 2 occasions - very tasty - you couldn’t have squeezed any more seafood in the sandwich!)

We live less that two miles from the Smokehouse, our treat each week is a Bacon sandwich and a coffee there. Fantastic sandwich, lovely strong fresh, hot coffee and lovely service as always. Great Value for money as under a £5 ..The smokehouse has undergone a huge transformation due the pandemic and I was suprised to see how much more is on offer there now, and the decor is much improved since the last owners, fresh, clean and inviting. Worth a vist for locals and tourists.

Excellent breakfast there yesterday with the family. Great service, perfect food, and a well-planned layout in a beautiful setting.

I have been a customer of MacKenzies Yorkshire Smokehouse for 25 years. I am an 86 year old widow and live quite close. Due to the pandemic, I ordered food for delivery. They charged £10 delivery without making it clear there would be a charge. They failed to deliver my bread and despite calling 8 times they have not delivered the bread or refunded me. I am shocked and disappointed and would advise other pensioners of limited means to avoid this business.

We all ways stop off here for food and drink, when we have being walking our dogs. The food is excellent. It's a great place to visit after been walking around Swinsty or Fewston reservoir. The food from the butchers to take home is delicious.

Had brunch here on a Sunday. Waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken then 20 minutes for it to be served despite it being pretty quiet.I ordered a full English, the menu said it came with cherry tomatoes which I prefer but they served a giant tasteless tomato instead, toast was burnt and the “slab” of black pudding was far too big. My wife’s eggs benedict had one really undercooked inedible egg, muffins weren’t toasted and we were generally underwhelmed.Staff were ok but didn’t exactly go out of their way or make an extra effort such as offering us sauces, or topping our drinks up or asking if everything was ok etc.Maybe it was an off day but we will give it a miss next time we are in the area as it just felt as though they were going though the motions where with a little more effort it could and should be better.

We found this place by chance whilst passing on the way back from Harrogate, and we decided to have the breakfast, which was reasonably priced, cooked well and served by happy, friendly staff. We both opted for the smoked salmon (after all we were at a smoke house). I asked for the sauce on the side and this is the reason I gave the place four stars, not five. My sauce came in a jug with a very large chip, not something I enjoy or would expect. It went by the chef and server, so it makes me question their standards, accepting something that is not perfect. That said we very much enjoyed our trip and would return again. This is a great foodie stop over with lots of chilled, ambient and frozen foods to choose from in the shop and also lots of crafts and gifts. None of it is cheap, but good if looking for something local and different.
