Machynys Bar and Brasserie in Carmarthenshire

We visited Machynys for an afternoon of golf for my partner on the beautiful grounds whilst I had a massage and facial with Katy. She was so lovely, and the treatments one of the best I ever had whilst being incredibly reasonably priced. Had a drink at the bar upstairs afterwards and the view was just breathtaking. Came back for lunch at the Brasserie the following day and that was lovely too. What a gem to have discovered, can’t wait to come back.

Booked for Sunday lunch, my husband's was cold, reheated in microwave. Mine was warm, beef tender, roast potatoes appeared to have been cooked days ago & warmed up. Parsnip couldn't cut through one end, too hard. Very disappointed with food, not exactly cheap. Expected better for such a lovely setting. Waitress was lovely & very apologetic, not her fault. We booked quite early, so food should have been piping hot & fresh.

Lovely location but - My friends and I come here every month for brunch and usually the food is very good . However today it was poor - I don’t know if the chef has changed since last time …. Two of us ordered eggs Benedict - they had run out of muffins so the eggs were on toast ! The poached eggs were hard and the hollandaise sauce was vinegary . Not nice at all . Hopefully next month it will be better again !

Awful spa experience dirty rooms needs a good clean awful treatment walked out halfway through for a full refund one small jacuzzi for your whole spa experience and the so called relaxation room is like waiting in a dr surgery lights all on people back and fore constantly and the other relaxation room has music pumping through it ftom the gym worst experience we ever had would never return

Great place to have a meal,surroundings and staff first class

Thought it was a wonderful venue, very modern, clean, bright. We went on a very windy and rainy day, my wife and daughter were having a morning in the Spa and we ate in the bar area afterwards. I could not fault the staff in both friendliness and efficiency, there was a roaring log fire in the centre of the area. A great relaxing morning for us all.

Held a funeral reception at Machynys. Staff very helpful before, during and after the reception. Excellent quality food provided.

Very beautiful place to visit lovely staff 4 of us came abd had coffee & cake they even had dairy free apple pie with dairy free ice cream , staff are very friendly and Connor was extremly lovely and amazingly friendly

I visited this place today, the vegan apple pie and dairy free ice-cream also gluten free was absolutely delicious 😋 The flat white with oat milk was devine too. Whilst I was there, I checked out the menu, will definitely be visiting again to try the nut roast. The customer service was excellent!

It's a shame that the staff have their phones out, while behind the bar, and are more interested in that than serving customers. Usually, we have very chatty and polite staff. And shockingly, it was a maturer lady encouraging the youngsters . Only happened once, just had to mention it, as a request to review popped up.

The food continues to be very poor at this venue. Each time we visit it’s disappointing. On this occasion the burger was served in a black seeded bun which was unappealing and was dry and tasteless, served with chips and tiny pot of coleslaw! The lamb biryani was a greasy, unappealing lamb shank protruding from dry overcooked rice with a tiny pot of curry sauce on the side! The meal was truly awful and looked disgusting!! We were offered a doggie bag instead of something else. We live locally and would visit more often if the food was good. Owners of this venue, up your game as the venue itself is lovely with great views!!

Excellent food in a beautiful, comfortable atmosphere. The service was very good, staff were knowledgable and happy to help. All in all a great evening.

Disappointed! Burger and chips ordered. We ordered first so expected fresh cooked food. It came out looking old pre heated chips, see picture. No garnish No wow I came once before and prayed it was better. But it’s not. If you’re playing golf and fancy a bacon sandwich after they looked basic but ok. But please don’t go here expecting anything other than pre heated food. Nicest thing was the coleslaw but that was it. We went on a Saturday and it was busy, but not that busy to cook chips from fresh. The menu was very expensive for what it was. Such a disappointment for this venue as it could be amazing. Home cooked fresh meals with imagination is needed. I won’t be coming back again until new chef and menu that is worthy or such high prices.

I've had lunch here many times and enjoyed it but the roast today was very average. The plate was swimming in gravy, no jug offered. The roast potatoes were soft and everything was just warm enough. There was plenty of beef though a bit tasteless. 3 courses costs £29.95 plus £2 extra for the beef. My prawn cocktail was average and dessert fine but for £32 I expected a better meal. We were both hungry so ate our meal but ordinarily i would have sent the plate back. Such a shame as I like the atmosphere of the bar with its great views over the golf course. Just because it was a late lunch, 3pm ish, I still expect decent quality food. Need to try harder.

Lovely lunch here today.. it was busy but food came quickly and was tasty. Then had a spa treatment which was fantastic Very relaxing.

We came here for a 21st Birthday meal and were very disappointed. The waitress was very robotic and lacked warmth. Ordered the two course £35 menu. Starters arrived, one was stone cold. Waited nearly an hour for our mains. The food was substandard. Had to pay extra for sides and then they got the order wrong. Waitress leaned across us and asked us to pass a plate to the other side of the table. Only positive point was the senior waiter who was really friendly, professional and dealt with our complaints and apologised, giving us a reduced bill. Restaurant is very overpriced and they need to be more selective when employing staff.

Booked a table for 2. Shown to our table straight away. Drink order was taken. The drinks were brought to our table by a young girl who literally plonked them on the table & she definitely needed to put a smile on her face. The food itself very disappointing for what we paid. It was cold. The plates were stone cold. For £34.00 for 2 courses would have expected a lot more. Such a shame it once used to be a lovely place to go.

Called into the bar area for a Sunday lunch - the food is decent but the prices have gone berserk - only an expensive xmas menu available & no bar menu - which probably explained why the place was practically deserted in mid December.

If it could go wrong it did go wrong. Rushed to order our food, long waits when having food and not everyone served the same time. Drinks and food wise. To top it off two meals were raw.

The meal was lovely but the sauce on the chicken could have had a thicker consistency.

Very disappointing. Sausage and bacon roll - one lonely little sausage and one small rasher of bacon, bland and completely overpriced. Service good however.

A little underwhelming. Size of portions a bit strange - starters quite large, mains a bit scanty. I had the truffle chicken and it tasted of very little except for the cream sauce, which had odd white lumps in it - maybe a thickening agent gone wrong, as the sauce was very thin. It was served 'with asparagus' which meant two spears, though well cooked, and gnocchi, which turned out to be badly fried, unseasoned, potato croquettes. A bland dish, which you will want to order sides with. Service good, though not particularly fast and we were never given a drinks menu, location stunning. Half the other guests were couples on dates, and although the food is a bit mediocre the setting, particularly around sunset, is wonderful.

Booked a spa afternoon which included a 2 course meal. The food was outstanding. Very tasty and good sized portions. Would highly recommend.

A great meal with great views over the golf course, served by a very pleasant server. And I charged my car on their fast charger while I ate.

Great for a pint or coffee.. No good for food although expensive.. Also, the kitchen is on on odd hours.. I would suggest a dinner on nearby pubs and come down to Machynys for the pint :-)

Outstanding views and food delicious service first class

Lovely place to eat. Food always delicious, although it would be nice to have a specials board to have a change as once you've gone through the menu, it's all the same again.

Played golf on a superb golf course... a real gem of a course. Had food and drinks in the bar afterwards. The facilities here are outstanding Would like to give higher praise but didn't eat in the restaurant to sample its delight. Will be back to play golf fir sure

Lovely staff. They were rushed off their feet. Gave great service. I had cod skewers with vegetable rice. The cod was lovely, but I don't think dry white rice with a spoonful of peas placed on top is vegetable rice. That's my only complaint.

We went for a spa day including lunch. The spa was fantastic as we're our treatments. The lunch menu was disappointing and the food even more so. It was very under seasoned and lacked flavour.

Always good service fair priced

A wonderful new menu with plenty of imaginative and delicious suggestions to choose from. My husband had the moules to start followed by the brisket, I had the fried halloumi followed by a fillet steak and side order of chips, all were delicious. The service was excellent. There was nothing negative to report at all, we will return again soon.
